Today marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration between Nomadic Morocco and IFC Morocco Travels. Nomadic Morocco was created to help travelers discover Morocco through authentic, meaningful, and personalized experience. We work closely with travelers and travel professionals to design journeys that go beyond the typical tourist experience. To bring this experience to life, we partner with IFC Morocco Travel, a Moroccan destination management company led by Sam and his team. The local expertise, operational knowledge, and extensive network across Morocco help ensure that every journey runs smoothly and authentically. Together, we've decided to co-create this podcast series to explore Morocco from different points of view. In each episode, we'll share our experiences, we will discuss destination, culture, tradition, travel tips, trends, and the hidden games that makes Morocco such a fascinating country. Whether you're planning your first trip, you're returning for another adventure, or you are simply curious about Morocco, our goal is to give you practical insights and a view from people who live and work in Morocco and in the travel industry every day. Today I am very happy to welcome Sam, Honor of AFC Morocco Travels. Sam, thank you for joining. Thank you for being part of this podcast journey with us.
SPEAKER_01Thank you very much, Alexandre.
SPEAKER_00I'm very excited to share our knowledge and help listeners discover the many phases of Morocco. So welcome to the nomadic Morocco podcast.
SPEAKER_02We will explore people, places, stories that make Morocco unique. My name is Alexandra from Nomadic Morocco. Sam, can you please tell us about yourself and IFC Morocco travels?
SPEAKER_01Thank you, Alexandra. It's a pleasure. I'm always happy to talk about Morocco because it's not just where I work, it's a part of me, and it's part of who I am. So I was born and raised in the county Atlas or called small Atlas Mountains. I spent much of my professional life helping visitors experience the country beyond typical restroads. So travel was created with a simple mission is to help travelers discover Morocco through authentic experiences and gening human connections. So over the years I have worked with families, couples, solo travelers, small groups, photographers, adventure seekers, so culture explorers from all over the world. So what I love most is seeing someone arrived with expectations and live with something completely different, a deeper understanding of Moroccan culture, and often a deeper understanding of themselves.
SPEAKER_00That's amazing. Thank you.
SPEAKER_02So many countries have beautiful landscape, but what makes Morocco unique is what we call the hospitality. So what can you tell about what makes Morocco different?
SPEAKER_01I think what makes Morocco different is its diversity. So you can walk through the milinas or small alleys of fez and then travel crossing the Atlas Mountains, then you find yourself on the Sahara Desert watching the sunset and riding camels. But it's more than a geography. Morocco has preserved many attractions while still evolving. So you can share tea with a family in the mountain village and then enjoy a luxury ride in Marrakech in the next evening. So the contrast and the diversity of the country is incredible.
SPEAKER_02A lot of people wonder if they should organize uh their trip by themselves online or work with a local company.
SPEAKER_00What do you think is the best? The best okay.
SPEAKER_01Let's say the Antenne nowadays is a great tool that helps people organize their holidays, vacation, be whatever. But Morocco is a country where local knowledge can completely change your experience. So the the local knowledge can change the game definitely. So a photo online doesn't tell you if the hotel has recently changed or has recently renovated a guidebook same doesn't tell you which village festival is happening now, or next week, or next month, and Google doesn't always tell you how long a mountain road will really take. So that is to say working with a professional and local expert means benefiting from years of relationship and on the ground experience. That's where companies like IFC Morocco Tours, IFC Morocco Travel, and Nomadic Morocco. Nomadic Morocco can add a value. So we spend our lives here. We know people, we know the destination, we know the roads, and we know how to adapt things, change.
SPEAKER_02Perfect. A lot of people they book their trip or activities through platforms such as uh get your guide, uh, expedia, trip advisor. But you are different with nomadic Morocco because you believe in responsible tourism.
SPEAKER_00So, what is it and what does it mean for the clients and and for you? This is a very good question.
SPEAKER_01So, talking about responsible tourism means ensuring that travel benefits local communities. So let's say when a visitor, say in a family-owned accommodation, hire local guys, for example, eat in a local restaurant, and purchase, for example, electricity from the artisans, tourism creates positive impacts. So it helps preserve traditions, create employments, and it encourages younger generation to keep and maintain the culture, and it gives the deep connection to the generation to maintain the deep connection to the to their roots and to their traditions and to their heritage, especially. Don't try to say to say everything, take your time, talk to people, accept invitations, for example, from the locals, be open to unexpected and the best moments in Morocco are often the ones that weren't planned.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's very true. Often the ones that are not planned, like meeting people, and I think like, do you agree with me if like people are coming from the destination but coming back for the people? I think this is what makes Morocco unique.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. I do agree with you. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay, nice. Um, again, going back to activities, do you think Marrakesh is still the first as a first time in Morocco? Would you recommend landing in Marrakesh, spending a few days? What is the most typical first?
SPEAKER_01Uh I don't I I don't agree to spend the whole seven days in Marrakesh because why I can just recommend to say, like to spend three days in Marrakesh, then there are many other destinations and places that you can see this couple. Let's say, for example, if you have seven days and you want just to spend it in Marrakesh, but instead you can go to the high Atlas Mountains, for example, for like one day or two days, maybe an overnight. Like that, you can still connect with the locals, maybe have a home stay, uh, enjoy a lunch with a local family, for example, in the in the Emily village, for example. Then you can do some activities, some experiences like a day trip, like say Sawira, Pikawali was a visit, and there are many activities and workshops that you can still do and you can still enjoy. Uh, either you are a solo traveler, you are a couple, a family traveling with kids. There are everything for everyone. So, seven days in Morocco can change everything, and you can just benefit from many things, and you can still discover many places and do many activities and experiences.
SPEAKER_02Thank you so much for this first uh conversation. Thank you for sharing your experience, your passion for Morocco. It was a pleasure talking to you, and we'll see you next time for another advice and tips about Morocco. Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_01Thank you, Alexandra. It was my pleasure.
