In Episode 2 of The Revival Show, Drake Robert and Noah Doss discuss one of the biggest lies people believe about success, business, personal growth, and even boat ownership: that one big breakthrough is all it takes.

The truth is that lasting success is built through daily habits, consistency, discipline, and doing the things you need to do long before you see the results you want.

Drake shares lessons from his entrepreneurial journey, the mindset shifts that changed his life, and why the people who achieve extraordinary results are often the ones willing to embrace ordinary disciplines every single day.

The conversation also dives into leadership, contentment, goal setting, business growth, personal responsibility, and practical ways to create momentum in your life.

In the second half of the episode, Drake and Noah answer real customer questions covering oxidation removal, waxing, ceramic coatings, mold and mildew removal, maintenance routines, and how boat owners can protect their investment for the long haul.

Topics Covered:

✅ Entrepreneurship & Business Growth
✅ Leadership & Personal Development
✅ Daily Habits for Success
✅ Goal Setting & Discipline
✅ Marine Detailing & Boat Maintenance
✅ Ceramic Coatings Explained
✅ Boat Detailing Q&A

Welcome to episode two of the Revival Show today. My name is Drake Robert. I'm the owner of Revival Marine Care here in Pensacola, Florida, where we detail boats uh here locally and we sell products all around the world through Revival Marine Care. And I have here my co-host, our sales director, Noah Doss. What's going on today?

SPEAKER_02

What's up, man? Yeah, glad to have you back. Uh, glad to be back for episode two. Yeah. It's awesome. Um, episode one is I'm gonna try to not cry in this episode today. If you have not, if you haven't watched episode one, highly recommend going back and watching it. We got into like a lot of the the raw truth of uh of just kind of where you started, came from, the things the Lord taught you, a lot of personal growth, business growth. Um, if you are a business owner, especially uh or interested at all in growing as a human being, I think uh going and watching episode one would be largely beneficial. Um, I know even even our producer in the room was like after the episode, he was like over there trying to hold it in. So it was uh it was great, man. It was it was a great episode. Um so today uh we're actually gonna be talking about the reality that like there is no magic moment that fixes your life, your business, uh, or your boat, and how that's actually good news. So excited to get into that today. But dude, how uh dude, today? Well, let's talk about today. Like it's just crazy. We are you know crazy, crazy busy today. Four hours a lot behind. Yeah, we're literally four hours behind on getting to this episode, but it's the reality of life and yeah and business and trying to get in and get things done. So did you uh did you make it to the gym this morning?

SPEAKER_01

Uh not at my normal time, but I I did for uh 13 minutes on my watch. 13 minutes, let's go, dude. Went in, got a little bit of a pump. You do for 13 minutes. Just curls for 13 minutes. Yeah, no. I did uh incline bench and then some tricep pull down and then shoulder press and curls.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. What if we did a little like workout right before we did this podcast? We should, so we like extra swallow. I think that would I think that'd be great. Yeah, you need to swallow down so I can swallow up though. I have been, dude. I lost 20 pounds. Yeah, that's crazy. Good for you, bro.

SPEAKER_01

I I actually woke up late because I stayed up till midnight last night. Well, it's probably like 12 30 working on some stuff that we had to send over to that uh that new dealer we're messing with. So the new one that we can't talk about. Yeah, I gave him my word that I would send him a. I'm really bad at being like, yes, I'll get you the thing in 30 minutes. And I'm like, why did I say that? I've got like a 45 minute drive back and then I gotta prepare. So I'm usually um, you know, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We've talked about that a few times, haven't we? I've been told not to give people time to hey, just say I will get this to you as soon as I can. Like, don't put yourself up to the code.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, Yes, I will write the entire SOP of my life and our products, and I have it to you by the end of the day. And we had an hour happen sometimes, so I stayed up till midnight and uh made it pretty. Plus, I'm a perfectionist, so I want to make sure things are like perfect and spelled well and all that stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I love waking up to text from you, and it's like, read this, then read this, then read this. And I'm like, midnight. Like midnight. It's always sending me stuff like super late at night, and I'm like, dang, it doesn't stop. So, but even with working that late and stuff, like like just how busy we we are during the day right now, and everything we have going, and obviously trying to get this podcast launched and yeah, uh, you know, produce what we're doing, like there's a lot of things, a lot of uh, you know, really good things happening. Um, but uh, but life, bro, just life, life and business and all of it runs in together and uh loving our families and our wives and being there for our kids and and also uh investing into what the Lord's given us uh here. Yeah, you know, with uh just everything that we have. It's uh it's it's uh learning. I feel like we're constantly learning, right? Like every single day. It's like, yeah, do I die down on this? Do I do this more? Do I, you know, am I am I giving enough attention to this? Like so it's been a it's been a fun little journey so far learning.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and it's it's crazy for me too, because you know, for years I was a boat detailer washing boats, scrubbing boats all day long, and now I'm in a big fancy office slash studio most of my day answering emails. So I'm like, I'm stepping into a whole nother like realm, which I was already doing that for years, but it was like out of my car, running around town. And now that I've basically got my detail crew established to where they're practically running on their own, uh, you know, sometimes reporting to me, sometimes not. And uh, you know, now that we've got the product side running smoothly, and you know, we've got awesome guys packing and and doing inventory and sales and everything else. So it's like, man, yeah, it frees me up to do, you know, the stuff I love doing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's kind of crazy though, like in in this business, like we've just grown really fast. And like, yeah, like I mean, we were literally talking, it was like we went from like a couple of us to you know nine, 10, 11, or whatever you know, people we have on staff now. Just like new building, like completely new shipping department, like it all happens so fast. And you know what's crazy to me is uh, and we're gonna kind of talk about this a little bit, but like how we're always looking for like, man, if that one thing would give, or if that if we could figure out that one thing, and it's like you figure out that one thing, and it maybe doesn't actually change your life and business like as much as you think it would or wish it would, or you bring on that thing that you thought is all your business needed for things to settle down and it actually adds more to your plate, you know? Yeah, and it's like you know, we talked about this a little bit last week, but like was like there a moment for you that you were like, man, if like this, if I could just get or do this one thing, then like it would all open up or I'd be exactly where I wanted to be. Like, do you have an expectation for anything like that in your business? And like in reality, like what what actually like happened for you after that?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean that's pretty it's pretty ambiguous and deep. But yeah, I mean, I think in my younger years, um, well, I say younger years, I'm still relatively young at 33. Yeah, um, I've got five children, so I feel like I'm like 45. That does that does add a few years for sure. But uh, I think in my early 20s, I really thought that I don't know, I almost had like this mindset of like I would get like tapped on the head by like a success genie or something, and I'm like, I'll get lucky. Um, you know, it probably comes from my childhood because I I grew up with this understanding of like rich people were not so much bad, but they would like cheat, they would lie, they would steal, they would sue lawsuits, that's how they got money, or they won the lottery, or just like something big happened. Yeah, you know, uh grandma died and left him a million. It was never like, wow, that guy's successful, he worked hard, he did the right thing, he was a generous guy. So, like, and that was a lot of my culture and stuff that I kind of grew up in. So I thought getting, you know, in my 20s when I started was like, oh, there's gonna be some big moment, yeah, like some big thing that is just gonna happen. And uh after that, I'm gonna be rich, I'm gonna have the house, the cars, the you know, the the money, all the things. And I lived in so much frustration for so many years because like that never actually happened. Yeah, and it can happen, and we we hear of people that win the lottery all the time, right? So uh statistically, three years later or five years later, they're actually broker than they ever were. Right. And that's mainly because they didn't actually develop the characteristics of the person that can manage five million dollars. So I find that if you do get lucky in business and you have this big explosion, it's just a matter of time before you probably lose it all. Yeah, yeah. Unless you become the person that can manage that. Yeah. And you build that through the hard work of actually getting it the right way.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Which we could talk about. I mean, when did that you said you had that mindset of like kind of just like hoping like something would happen, you get lucky. I I feel like a lot of people have that mindset where it's like we we all want like the lifestyles of the people we watch on social media, the people we see, dude. Heck, people might even be watching your stuff and be like, I just want that or what they have. Yeah, and we live in an instant society, right? It's like like we get mad if fast food takes a couple minutes too long. We throw things in the microwave, like or if they forget my fries. Yeah, right. You had one job. Yeah, dude. It's like we we live in like we live, we live in a like, I want it now, I want it right, I want it fast. Like that's that's our society. That's how like, especially you know, my generation and younger, like that's how we were raised. Like, dude, we have we have uh my my wife, this is horrible, but like 90 second rice. I feel like that can't be good for you. You know, it's like in a bag, it's in a bag, yeah. You look you literally peel the corner of it. Ben knows all about that 90 seconds.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, bro. Blue collar.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like you know, we gotta give Ben a we gotta give Ben a camera.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. We just like you peel the corner, you put it in the microwave, 90 seconds, I walk away, come back. And it's like what used to take like time and like water ratio of like steaming. Now I'm literally just like microwave, I come back and I'm like, you know, I'm like 90 seconds was too long. Like why can't we have a 60 second rice? You know, so it's like we just live in that society where it's like waiting for the one thing, the quick thing, the easy thing. I think that's the biggest thing is like we all want easy, like we just want it to be easy. And that's FedEx is here, by the way. That's just not like a reality. FedEx is here, yeah. Yeah, but I feel like, you know, in in this uh in this life, like we all just want the things that are easy and fast, and like, but when we talk about like commitment and you know, doing the same things every day that aren't fun to actually build what we're really looking for, I feel like that's where a lot of people like fall off or not interested, which is why the people who ultimately are successful in the long run, like you usually don't see the work they've put in behind it. And I know that's a reality um for you, and something I think you would, you know, be a great person to kind of talk about like what that looks like to live a disciplined life, putting habits in place to actually obtain what you want the right way, in the way that actually lasts, as opposed to just a microwave 90 second success.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and that's the thing, like, you know, you were on that coaching call the other day. What were you yeah, yeah, when he asked me that question? Like in our in our coaching call, we had a dude, he was like, Drake, like when do you have time to just like doom scroll? Yeah, and like when do you take like when you when do you just have like time to like do nothing? And it actually kind of stumped me, and I'm like, man, I I really don't like there are random times where I like I'll just jump on Instagram or something, but like I am constantly doing something for the business, for myself, for my family, you know, little league baseball coaching, the whole nine. Like there's always something that I'm doing, and I and I thought it was cool too. Like, I you know, it just kind of came to me in the moment, but I'm like, I have purposely kind of built my life in a way where I don't even allow myself to have the time to just sit on the sofa and doom scroll and do nothing. Yeah. Um, you know, I I've I purposely put on responsibilities on myself that push me to be better. Yeah. And that ultimately is like how I uh can get up every day. I don't want to get up every day. I don't, I don't want to get up. I don't want to, I didn't even want to do this podcast today, quite frankly. But it's like, no, we have to. We said we were gonna do it, we're gonna do it. You know, I I have actually here too a little note. I actually wrote this down from um from a buddy of mine that shared this, but he said, if I keep doing what works, no matter how I feel, I have a really good chance at success. You know, it's like we know it works half the time, but if we just keep repeatedly doing the thing that works, we have a high probability of being successful. Yeah. And whatever. And it actually says that in whatever uh endeavor we find ourselves on.

SPEAKER_02

I know I've been told before, uh like by my pastors, they're like, you know, do the next right thing and be where your feet are. Yeah. Like that's like so good. Like you you might have messed up in this moment or regret whatever you've done in the past, but like if you just focus on doing the next right thing, yeah, and you repeat that every single day, like ultimately, like there's other quote, you know, it's like there's no such thing as failures, only quitters. Yeah. You know, it's like if you just push through and you never actually give up and you make an intentional decision to just do the right thing that you know in that moment, like eventually it's gonna lead to the success that you're ultimately like doing what you do for you know, for your family, for your business, for your life.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And I find that the more I do the right thing, the luckier I get. Yeah. You know, because yeah, and I don't know if it's luck or blessing, you know, like some people will say it's lucky, some people will say blessing. Um, you know, I I have found that when I typically do the right thing, I get in front of the right people, I have the right opportunities. Yeah, we have people that call us and go, hey man, y'all seem like the kind of guys we want to work with. Y'all seem like genuine people. And when I literally gave you guys a speech about this is how we're gonna run run business and do and treat people, yeah. You know, it's ultimately too in life, you are going to get what you put out into the world. Yeah. You know, it's like that is a core principle. It's a biblical principle, you know, reaping, sowing, karma, you know, uh what goes around comes around. There's so many little sayings that say this, but like if you want a nice boat, do things that nice boat people do. Yeah, clean them, wash them, take care of them. Don't let people get on your boat and make messes, you know, like the same thing in your business. Like, if you want a successful business, go do what successful business people do. Yeah, you know, get up early, answer emails, treat people right, yeah, save money.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. What do you think though? Like, because I mean, obviously it's great principle, right? And and a lot of people, like if you sat down with someone and you know, had this conversation with almost anyone, they'd probably agree and say a lot of the same things. But I feel like there's like a, I don't know, like a mental switch that's really hard for people to like push past like how they're actually feeling and what they want to do and what they need to do. Yeah. Like, is there, I don't know, is there like a is there something that like ever flipped for you? Or like how did how did you get to the point where you're like, hey, like I'm gonna live a life of the things that I need to do, not necessarily what I want to do. Or is that is that like a mindset you feel like you always have, or is that more something you're like, I literally have to do it in every decision?

SPEAKER_01

I'm not perfect, obviously. Um what's very very I am far from perfect, but uh everyone in here knows that. But I think like, man, it's actually good. I feel like I might need a second to just like comprehend that because what comes to mind first is that I I think I needed to develop the want to do the things I need to do. Like that's pretty like deep, you know. That whole like uh don't love your job, job your love.

SPEAKER_03

That's our moment, dude. Don't job, yeah. Wait, we need to repeat that. What was that?

SPEAKER_01

Don't love your job, job your love. No, you said I'm gonna end up as a freaking meme right now. Yeah, yeah. No, but it's serious. Like, I had to learn to want to do the things that I need to do because I I get it. You're like, oh, I got I need to do this and I want to do this. But ultimately, if we know the things we need to do, and those things will lead us to the things that we genuinely want deep down inside, yeah, then we should be praying and asking God, like, give me the power to actually do the things I need to do. That's good, yeah. You know, um, because what do we say we want, right? Like, let's I don't know if we talked about this in the last episode, but if we did, oh well, I'm gonna talk about it again. But like, what does it mean to make a decision? Did we talk about that? I don't think so. I don't think we actually had so the way I understand like you make a decision. A lot of people are like, you know, do we go to McDonald's or Wendy's? You know, you love when I start driving. Like, where are we gonna go? It just leaves the parking lot, no idea where we're going, and we're like split second topics.

SPEAKER_02

We'll find out when we get there.

SPEAKER_01

Whatever parking lot we like. That's how I run my life. But anyway, make a decision, you know, we're going to Wendy's or McDonald's for lunch. Most people are like, McDonald's, you know, Wendy's, cool. That's a decision. But the way I see a decision is all right, we're going to McDonald's, we're going to Wendy's. Let's choose Wendy's. All right, cool. How are we getting there? What car we take in? You know, how fast can we get there? Is there traffic? What are we going to get when we get there? A decision is not just a one-time thing, but it's actually a step-by-step process of how you're actually going to fulfill that decision. So the point I'm trying to make is like when there's things that we want, we say we want them, we we just we decide. For instance, I decide I want to start a product company.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I can't just decide I'm going to start a product company. Yeah. The real decision is all right, I want to start a product or company. What do we got to do? Yeah. Okay, fine. We got to find chemists, we got to find a chemical engineer, we got to find a bottling company, a labeling company, we got to do this, we got to do that. We got to test products for months and months and months and have formula after formula after formula after formula after formula fail. You know, and then when it's like, oh, we found this.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then like ultimately, that's how you get what you want. So do I want to do 99% of the things I do? Absolutely not. But I I want the things that I want, so I do the things I need to do to get the things that I want.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. No, I I that makes sense. No, yeah, that makes total sense. It kind of is why you're talking, like, my brain is like, like, I wonder if people actually don't really know what they want. You know what I mean? 100%. Like, do people actually know what they want? Like, why am I doing what I'm saying? I don't know what the heck I want, dude. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, like we think we know what is there, I'll say, is there like grace for like you have like dreams and visions and things, you know? And it's like, because as you're talking, it's like, okay, if I know what I want, I know why I'm doing this, right? You know, maybe you want to build wealth for your family. Like maybe, you know, you're you're going to the gym and eating better because you want to lose 20 pounds. Like you said, it's like there has to be a vision and a goal. And then, like, okay, the decisions are not actually like the end goal. The decisions are how to get to that point. Absolutely. And so that's so good. Like, and it makes me think like as a business, if you're a business owner or like you have a goal in your life in your marriage, like with your kids, like whatever it is, it's like, have you ever stopped and like thought like, like, what is my want? Like, what is my goal here? Yeah. And I think sometimes life can move so fast and we get so caught up and so busy that we do have wants and desires in our heart, but we've never actually stopped to think about them and then like put intentional steps in place to get to that point. Absolutely. And then you get like, dude, you can get like months and like years down the road, and you look back and you're like, oh my gosh, I'm nowhere near my want. Yeah. Because I was never intentional about the need to. Yeah. And I feel like it would be hard to want to do the things you need to if you don't even know what that one is. No, a hundred percent, man.

SPEAKER_01

Like the as you're saying that too, something that really pops into me is like anytime we go after something we want in life, we typically want the glorious dream of it. Yeah, we don't want the work that we get there. Yeah. Like, that's the thing. So I've had people reach out to me and say, dude, I want what you have. And I'm like, Are you sure? Yeah. Yeah. Because do you want to wake up at 3 a.m. every morning and go to bed at midnight and get like four hours of sleep? Like, do you want five children? Yeah. Yeah. Probably not. You know? Yeah. You you do, obviously. I I do. You do.

SPEAKER_03

But other people may not.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no. But like the thing, but like, hey, if you don't want five children, there's practical things you need to do to not do that. You know, I'm not good at that object. Drake's still trying to figure out what that is. I am an undisciplined man. Anyway. Um, but the point I'm trying to make is that we say we want something. One, we don't do the necessary tasks every single day repeatedly to get the thing we want. And then two, the second we get stuff that we don't want that's directly correlated with the thing that we want, we tap out.

SPEAKER_02

Tap out, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. And doing the things you need to do, there's a lot of stuff that you need to do that you don't want to do in order to achieve great results. Like washing your boat every time you use it.

SPEAKER_03

Let's let's off segue this into lazy boat owners.

SPEAKER_01

No, but I mean, I I think it's cool. It's actually none of this has been on our notes, by the way. No, yeah. But I love it because man, the the topic that you just said, like, we don't know what we want. I I had a moment probably about a year and a half ago where I was complaining. I think I might have been complaining to Rusty, actually. Yeah. I was on the phone with him, I was complaining. I was like, dude, my customer, blah, blah, blah, my employees, blah, blah, blah. You know, money, blah, blah, blah. I gotta spend this much on this and that much on this and that and that and that. And he was he just like he was like kind of smiled like he does, and he was just like, hmm. He was like, Do you realize everything you're complaining about people would die to have? Yeah. Like your kids, your wife, you know, blah, blah, this and that. You know, you're he was like, and think about it too. And or no, this is what happened. When he said that, it instantly was like God spoke to me and was like, every single thing you just complained about, you prayed for five years ago. Every single one of them. And dude, I got chills. Like, I literally was like, I was on a dock, uh, actually on Pensacola Beach, and literally, I felt like God showed me in that moment, like everything you just complained about, you cried out to God for five years ago, and you have it, and I'm complaining about it. Wow. Because I didn't want all the junk that comes with the dream. We just see the glory, we don't see the actual hard work that's attached.

SPEAKER_02

I heard we uh I was on the coaching call the other day. Um, and I heard you uh telling some of the guys on there, you're like, uh 'Cause the reality about you and and people with your entrepreneurial like mind and kind of how you go, like it's almost like you're not satisfied with anything ever. Yeah. Right? Like, and I'm not I'm not saying that to like be no like in any type of way. It's just like you are like you get fun. You get yeah, you get in the thing, and it's like, dude, like literally you had mentioned this, like we got this building, bro. Crazy, crazy like point in your life for what you've worked for, what you've prayed about in your company. And it was literally, we were in here like for a day, and then it was like, all right, let's look at other properties and see like what we could build bigger, you know, and it's like so. I guess my kind of thing is like there are people, especially a lot of detail, you know, business owners uh that do this, you know, like they do what they do and they're successful because they're kind of the same way.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Is there is there room for contentment in this business, in life, in those things? Um, or do you feel like being content in things actually slows growth and progress?

SPEAKER_01

I yeah, I mean that's good. I think I think there's a difference between contentment and I don't know, there's words pop into my mind, but like contentment and then settling.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I am actually very content with my life. I literally wake up every morning and thank God for literally being alive. Yeah. Like I thank God if my back hurts, you know, my first thing might be like, oh my god, my back hurts. And then I'm like, thank you, God, that I'm even alive to feel it because there's other people that aren't alive today, you know? Yeah. Um I'm thankful that I have a car, even though, or my old truck, when the AC was or the heater was out in the middle of winter, and I'm literally breathing like smoke in the air. Yeah. Um, I think you can be super happy and super content, but not like settling for just being like, Well, I'm so happy here that I'm never gonna achieve more or better with my life.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, and there's a lot of peace in that, dude. Like people that can do that. Like, I mad respect people um that can live that way and that are okay with just like having their bills paid. I am not that way. Yeah, you know, I've got certain goals. Like, this is like probably I don't know, maybe kind of trivial or whatever, but like I don't desire to own a Bugatti one day. Yeah, I don't. There's car guys out there that were like, I want four Bugattis, I need an orange one, a white one, a green one, I need a McLaren. I the only car I actually want is a Lamborghini. I want a I want a black Lamborghini and a red Ferrari with beige interior. Yeah, that's it. Once I achieve those things, like I don't know that there's another car out there whether I'm like, I have got to have it. Yeah, I don't know why. Ever since I was like eight years old, I've always wanted an all-black Lamborghini and a red Ferrari with the brown brown interior.

SPEAKER_02

We could have rented one in Palm Beach. We could have, yeah. It's not the same as only one.

SPEAKER_01

I want the moment where the car and the trailer backs up to your driveway and the lift gate drops down. They were you can hear it start up inside of it. They back it out, they drop it. I've watched countless videos, I've imagined it in my brain. I will, it will happen. It will happen one day. Stick along for the journey. But the point I'm trying to make is like there are people like that need way more than that, like 150-foot mega yachts and stuff. I don't want, dude, I've been on my mega yachts, I don't want anything to do with that. Yeah, yeah. You know, I want a 22-foot bay boat that I can just go rip some lips and some redfish on. Rip some lips and some. I don't even want to go all deep sea fishing. Yeah, yeah, that's good.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, there's there's levels to this. Yeah, there is definitely levels to it. And I don't and you know, obviously to not get too deep with that, but I feel like that probably is a something that maybe people struggle with, where it's like you have such different ends of the spectrum where it's like people are super lazy and they don't have the drive to do anything or get anything done or strive for anything. And then you have the other end of it where it's like you're you're getting all these things and accomplishing all these things, and it's like it feels like it's never like enough. And it's like how I think how you said that's perfect. Like, you can be content without settling. Yeah, I think that is like right there, clip that quotable. Sure. Like you can be content without settling. I think in business that's a that's a great outlook.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, and and it's like content or thankfulness, you know, thankfulness.

SPEAKER_02

That's the word that came to my mind actually was you can be thankful without settling.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm super thankful now. I am. I was I went years without being thankful at all. But like I am thankful for what I got, but I also know there's a the the Lord put a vision in my mind, and I know that if we stopped here and I was just like, God, I'm thankful for this, I'm good. I would be disobeying God, quite frankly, because I know I've seen in my mind what I am supposed to be, who I'm supposed to be, what I'm supposed to do. And like this is great, but this is not it. That's why I don't sit back and be like, Oh, I made it because I haven't. Yeah, I have not made, I have not made it. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Well, dude, that's that's so good. And you know, uh just my last like little challenge in this kind of this kind of area, and then we'll we'll move on here. How to respect everyone's time, but you know, it's like what I'm thinking through all this is like one, like take a moment maybe uh after you listen to this or tomorrow or whatever your time allows, and like ask yourself if you know what you're actually what you want. Yeah, like what are you what are your goals? What are you striving for? When are you willing to do all the stuff that's associated with those? Yeah, and does your day look like the things you're trying to accomplish? Um, does you know you've said it to us before, like we have we have business goals, we have annual goals, we have quarterly goals, we have monthly goals, we have weekly goals, we have daily goals, right? And it's like if you're accomplishing your daily goals, you don't really have to stress about all the other ones. Yeah. And so it's like, do you know what you want, what you're working for, what you're building for in your business, your family, your finances? And does your life actually line up and look like the steps to get to what you actually want? Yeah. And uh, and when you can figure that out, then like Drake said, you'll actually want to do the things you need to do. And I think that's awesome. So and dude, that goes for, I know this sounds like a huge drop-off here, but it's not like that goes for the marine care industry uh with with boat owners, yeah, with detailers. You know, people love the the perfect picture of a boat that is just glossing and beating and beautiful, but like there is process to being able to obtain uh the type of boat that you want, but not a lot of people want to do the steps that it takes to actually get there. So, you know, let's um kind of wanted to talk about that, you know, a little bit um in in kind of boat maintenance and uh and some of the things we see in the industry for boat owners or detailers um for getting what they want and the steps it takes to kind of get there.

SPEAKER_01

So well, you know, and kind of one last thing, which also you know segues is like like you said, everybody wants the shiny, nice boat, or most people want the nice, shiny boat, but are they willing to do what it takes to keep it that way? Not just do it once, you know. Even in business, it's like um, you know, a lot of guys can make money or they'll have a really good month and then they let off the gas and then they stop doing the things that got them the really good month, you know. We can't afford to stop doing the things that keep the boat looking nice or your business looking nice, you know. I I have here real quick, which was really supposed to be about our other kind of topic we were gonna go on. Yeah, but it says here like the real shift is daily habits, not the moments. Every action has a result in life, cause and effect. If we don't like the result, stop and reflect on what went wrong. And it's not morbid reflection, it's not like, oh, what were wrong? I suck, I'm a POS, you know, none of that. It's literally like, oh, what did I do? Okay, that didn't work. Then we find the new action to take. We determine what the new action is, and then we actually take it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Not just like, oh yeah, I should go to the gym. Yeah, I shouldn't. You actually get up and go to the gym. Hey, I set an alarm, and then you rinse and repeat, you know, like so. For instance, I hear you say this like, and people say, like, hey, uh, do the right thing. Okay, cool. What is the right thing? I don't know. Do whatever you think in your life is right. Yeah. Okay. Find out what so say we take an action, we do what we think is right. We do that until a problem arises or a roadblock or something happens. And then we go, okay, reflect. What did I do wrong? All right. Maybe I didn't call the customer back. I didn't send the email out. I didn't book the job on time. Okay. What can I do next time better?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What can I do better? You do that thing better. Now you execute. You do that for a time period, a day, a month, a year, until that doesn't work anymore. And then you go, okay, what did I do wrong? What can I change? How can I be better? Then you take the new next action, do that, rinse and repeat. That is ultimately how we find the right thing to do. Yeah. Because we're a lot of people need to know all the answers before they start. And that's not how you do it. You start and then find the answer. That's why I get in my car, get the keys, start driving, and I go, where are we going to eat? Yeah. Because we'll sit there doing nothing for 20 minutes going, where do we eat? Where do we eat?

SPEAKER_02

Who was just telling us the thing about the um the little like cartoon graphic of the entrepreneur like building the parachute on the way?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was the guy on the coaching call. Yeah. Oh, yeah, that's right. Yeah. They jump off the cliff and build the parachute on the way down. That's exactly. Which is a very stressful life. That's why I don't I don't think people truly know what we uh go through. But yeah, it's good. Anyway, yeah, let's do let's let's jump into the marine topic because this is uh you know a marine industry, you know, because boats in life, they have so much stuff. You know, I have found that the boat owners that have the nicest boats are typically very wealthy people.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And and it's because they actually know everything we just talked about way more than me, probably.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But they know that one, if you can't do it, you pay someone to do it or pay someone to do it better than you.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I have found that typically all of my local clients, the ones that have the nicest boats, not even like financially nicest, like they literally could have a pond. You maintain the boat, but they know that it takes maintenance and upkeep. That is the secret. It's not what's the best protection. You could literally have no protection on your boat, but if you clean it and you wipe it down and you dry it and you take care of it and you're, you know, doing the right things, your boat's gonna look good long term. Yeah, you know, it's good. Got actually quite a few customer questions here that I want to get out and you know, give some people some practical advice. And you know, guys, literally everything we talked about can a hundred percent be applied, not only in your business, to like grow your business or be a good father or dad or whatever else, just be a good human. But it all goes the same for boats. And we've kind of alluded to it a few times here about like like everybody wants the nice clean boat, everybody wants to either do a ceramic coating or a wax to just like protect their boat, and they don't want to maintain it, they don't want to clean it. But let's go ahead and uh hop into these are all real uh types of customer service questions that we got. So let's go. You want to read off the first one? Why are you laughing? Why are you laughing?

SPEAKER_02

Address your shirt. Yeah, spilled water on my side. We had to we had to cut real quick because Drake forgot how to drink water.

SPEAKER_01

I drank uh I drank a sip of water and then laughed and spit it everywhere.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, we because we do actually have fun at work sometimes, so but anyways, can you answer John's question? John M out of South Carolina. Hey guys, I had a boat detailer come out to clean and give my boat a good wax. God dang it. Why are you laughing, dog?

SPEAKER_03

Because he said he actually said wax job. I hate when people say wax job, bro. It drives me nuts. I'm sorry. Good wax job.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, give it a good wax job. Uh when he left, it looked great, but about a month later, I could see it's already fading again. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to wash my boat with something to keep it looking good? Nice.

SPEAKER_01

All right. So we I'm if you're a boat detailer out there, you're like, wow, literally have gotten this question a million times. So, first of all, there is no such thing as a good wax job. Don't say that, bro. All right. So there is the point I'm trying to make about a good wax. Usually nine out of ten times, hey, UPS is backing in. Keep it rolling though. Usually nine out of ten times, if someone says, I need a good wax, it's typically uh typically because their boat is faded, and they think and the boat owners think that the good wax is going to remove the oxidation and make it shiny again. The the biggest takeaway is that wax is inherently just a protective layer. That's it. It will add a little bit of shine to your surface because it enhances gloss. Yeah, so it enhances the gloss. So if your boat is not already shiny, it's not going to enhance much. It is, however, filled with you know, lubricants, oils, that kind of stuff, depending on which wax you use, it can fill in the pores of the fade. And that's why it actually looks really good. So he said here he had a detailer come out and give his boat a good clean and a good wax job. The reason why it looked good is just because the wax just filled in the pores of that dry gel coat. And then once the wax or the you know, lubricants or whatever's in that particular product, because he didn't actually say what uh wax he used, once those fade, then you're left with what the boat actually looks like, and that's faded. So, one no, sir, you are not doing anything wrong in particular. The with washing your boat, if you want your or if your boat is faded, the the thing you must do is remove it. So anytime there's fading or oxidize, it means you must cut it away. You have to remove the oxidation first and then put your good wax job on the surface. So here's your process. First and foremost, when you call a detailer out, if one, your boat is faded and they're just gonna wax it, do not hire that detailer because they don't actually know what they're doing.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Second, if you are asking for a good wax because your boat's faded, really what you're asking for is a buff package. So typically, like for us with our products, you would use like revival heavy cut, and then you're gonna follow up with a revival polish protect and then put our really, really good wax, yeah, the uh revival premium boat wax.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But anytime your boat is faded, you must remove the fading first and then put your wax on there. Um, you know, a lot of people ask for this all the time, especially in our local uh detail business. Is uh did I wonder if this question came or no, it must have been, I wonder if, yeah, this came because he said another detail. I was wondering if this came from our actual detail service. But anytime it is a red flag for me, anytime a boat owner goes, hey, my boat just needs a good wax, that means our boat is tore up and typically needs a whole bunch of buffing. Yeah, yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_02

That's good. Sweet man, we're gonna move into the next one. So Steve J out of Fort Myers, uh, Florida. Hey Drake, loving the products. Thanks, Steve. Uh, the rust stain, the rust stain remover is crazy. Removed all my rust stains and I was blown away. However, however, I always hate to see however, I do I do have some stains on the gel coat that didn't fully come out. The boat is a 2016 Sea Hunt and it's pretty dull. What cleaner can I use to shine it up? Okay. All of our favorite buzzwords.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So with the, so there's a lot here. One, I don't know what stain it is. So that's why when so let's just address this. One, the boat is dull. So that means the boat is oxidized, faded, and it's porous. So when gel coat starts to break down, it's gonna actually act as a sponge. And that's why like bird poop, bird grime, rust stains, shoe prints, that kind of stuff, it's it stains the boat easily because it actually sucks into the pores of the gel coat. So, yes, uh, as far as cleaners, you can use multiple different cleaners. You can use like uh intense clean, revival intense clean, or like mold and mildew clean, or even um the rust stain remover. And there's uh other household cleaners you could technically use to remove stains. And a lot of people want to just remove stains off their boat and they think that's actually cleaning it. The problem is that even with some of our products, if you're just using the cleaners, like heavy cleaners, and you're constantly removing the stains, you're gonna constantly keep getting them back because you're not actually fixing the root issue, the root problem. The root problem is that his boat is dull. So, again, honestly, same concept as the first question is you want to remove the oxidation, remove the fading, slick off the surface, close those pores up with a heavy cut, the polish, and then you want to wax it. And then once your boat is actually properly restored and waxed, now when bird droppings fall on the boat or you know, shoe prints or you know, rust even dripping down, it'll just sit on top of that wax. And then all you got to do is use like boat soap to clean it or a very mild cleaner uh to clean it up. But there is no really cleaner that's actually gonna like shine your boat up. There's no quick fixes to this. You must do the right thing, do the work that's necessary, like we alluded to earlier, and uh keep your boat looking nice.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, awesome. Um, Crystal, this is actually a YouTube comment. Genuine question. I've heard that using bleach will dry out the material and eventually lead to cracking and splitting. Is that true?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes, technically, all right, and yes, it's true if you do not listen to exactly what I'm about to say. Lean in. So this is a big topic because you know, a lot of people, this is actually a very um controversial topic because people think bleach ruins your seats, and it does. It will 100% ruin your seats if you do not do the proper steps again and do the easy thing. So this is what 99% of people out there do. They have moldy mildew on their seats, they'll rinse it off and they'll spray household bleaches on the seats. It'll clean it really good, and then they typically maybe rinse it off again and maybe dry it and then done. The problem with that is sodium hypochlorite is what bleach is. It's powdered sodium hypochlorite mixed with water. That's what bleach is. That will dry out your stitching, it will crack your um, you know, your vinyl, it can fade your plastics, it can do all of this because it's highly corrosive. The proper steps that you need to take is anytime you have mold and mildew and you need to remove those heavy mold and mildew stains, you have to use bleach. There are other like alternatives, bleach-free stuff that you can do, but they will not remove like deep, um, you know, deep embedded mold. So here's the steps. When you use bleaches, one, it helps to use a sodium hypochlorite product that is actually designed for the marine world. So I hate to keep shamelessly plugging our own products, but we we found in in our business, we'd go to Home Depot, buy like pool cleaner or like bleach, you know, just bleaches, and they will remove, but they don't have certain properties in them that actually helped them get to remove off of the surface. Those are meant for moving like black mold and like walls and stuff or even pools. With our products, we have sodium hypochlorite, which is bleach, that'll remove the mold, but there's also other surfactants in there that actually help it lift off of the vinyl and wash away. So if you use household bleach, go to Home Depot, cool. If you use our product, cool. Follow these steps after. So as soon as you use a mold and mildew cleaner, follow up with a really good scrub with a boat soap. One that's gonna clean off the chemicals fully from the surface. Bleach will leave like a slimy residue, like you get on your hands. That is on your seat. So if you don't follow up with a soap and scrub that stuff off, that is what's going to stay on your seat. So when the sun comes out, that's why it cracks and splits the vinyl. So wash it off with soap, dry it, and then always, always, always re-protect it with a vinyl seat protectant. And then if you do that, you will not have a single issue if you follow those steps literally to the T. Sweet.

SPEAKER_02

That's good. Perfect, man. Uh, last question here. Uh, Jeff out of Austin, Texas. Hey guys, absolutely love the podcast. I have a question. I followed your steps a hundred percent. Uh thanks, Jeff. We appreciate that. And my boat looks amazing. I used heavy cut, medium cut, and marine ceramic coating. Here is my question: How do I maintain the boat to keep it looking amazing this season? I need something fast and easy after a day on the water. Thanks, guys. Okay. He's in Austin, Texas.

SPEAKER_01

There's that's freshwater, right? That's all lakes. Austin, Texas. Uh yeah, I think. Yeah, he didn't say fresh or salt. I'm assuming it's gonna be freshwater if he's in Austin, Texas, because they're pretty landlocked over there.

SPEAKER_02

So you could probably assume, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so fresh, fresh in salt water, it is a little different because obviously salt water, you're gonna have salt. Freshwater, you're not gonna have that, but you're gonna have a ton of minerals in freshwater. I actually did not understand how crazy hard freshwater lakes are until I moved, uh until I lived in California. The water spots that freshwater boats get are literally insane uh because those lakes have tons of mineral, tons of like lime, rock, you know, all that stuff in it. So, first and foremost, the best thing, and I people say it's hard. It's really not very difficult to just simply spray some one fresh water, like out of anything, just flushing your boat down with fresh water to knock off grime, minerals, uh salt deposits, fresh water. Salt is highly uh water soluble, so it will break down naturally in. Just fresh water. The next step would just be using uh like a really good boat soap or even like a salt rinse. There is plenty of great products like saltaways, all that kind of stuff. The only issue with that is that some of those products have a very mild form of like acid or vinegar in there, which can break down your wax over time. So that's why I don't truly like recommend a lot of those like saltaway products. Um, but our soap, the Revival Wash and Wax Boat Soap, we specifically designed it to have a salt remover inside of it. So, worst case, you literally just foam your boat down with our soap and rinse it, and that's already gonna do better than just water. Or you can just lightly hit it with a uh a wash mitt, just kind of lightly agitate the exterior surfaces that get the most beating. And that's honestly really good. Now, the biggest um, my biggest advice, and this goes for even if you just rinse your boat down. So, say if you don't have soap, you don't have uh saltaways, all this stuff, and if you're in fresh water, hit it with nice, good, clean, fresh filtered water, and then just dry your boat. Yeah, just simply dry it, like with some microfiber towels. What this is gonna do is when you dry your vessel, you're going to be getting the water off of the surface and some contaminants that might be on the surface, and you're removing those minerals because the worst thing you can do is hit your boat with even dock water that has a lot of minerals in it, and then you let it dry in the sun, and that's how you're gonna get crazy water spots. So the minerals, the water spots, all of that stuff is actually gonna clog your ceramic coating over time, and then you're gonna stop seeing a bean, it's gonna start to look hazy. So rinse your boat, dry it, and then you know, if you want to go the extra mile about every two to three months, top it off with like a ceramic spray just to bring back the hydrophobics, the water beads, and uh keep it looking good. Yeah. I'm thankful that was that a lot of information.

SPEAKER_02

That was a lot of information, but it's good. I think I'm I'm thankful that he's actually asking like how to maintain the boat because a lot of people that ceramic coat their boat uh think that that's like the end of it. Yeah, you know, it's like, oh, I I coated it and now I'm good to just not touch it the entire season. For sure. So uh Jeff, thanks for at least attempting to see like, hey, what can I do even though I ceramic coated it to keep up with it? Because that is one of our uh probably one of our biggest pet peeves in the industry, yeah, is the falsity of like I ceramic coated my boat so now I don't have to do anything. For sure. Um, which is just simply not how it works.

SPEAKER_01

Well, he must have listened to uh the episode first, the first episode, because one, he said he loved the podcast. So he mustn't he mustn't know how our pet peeves. And obviously, if he did the heavy cut and the medium cut, um he's obviously watched our YouTube channel because that's what we say, like in our in our tutorial when you're coding, to use the medium cut, not to polish protect, and we could talk about that another day. But a lot of people believe that, like you said, the ceramic coating is this you put it on the magic bullet, you know, kind of what we alluded to earlier, like the big moment. This is gonna be the end all be all. Once I put this on my boat, I'll never have to maintain it again. And that is just simply not the truth. In fact, ceramic coatings are really for the people that do want to take better care of their vessels and actually do want to put the work in because at the end of the day, ceramic coating just makes your boat easier to clean, you know, keeps it looking better longer.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, man, that's awesome. Guys, you know, uh continue to send in questions, yeah, uh, whether it's comments on you know our podcasts on YouTube uh or wherever you're watching or listening um through our social media. If there's something that we feel like um, you know, it's a great question that we want to answer, you know, you might see your uh you might see your question or inquiry uh featured on the podcast. So, you know, first of all, thank you guys for taking the time to listen today. Um, I do just want to say again, if you haven't had a chance to watch the first episode, uh please go back and do so. It was phenomenal. Uh, I feel like we covered a lot of like really, really good key like life things. I know if nobody else watching this uh felt like they got anything out of it. I know like the whole time I was processing, like you know, I was literally like sitting over here, like if I had a pen, I'd be writing down like, what do I want? You know, yeah, what what does my day look like? So I think to kind of wrap it all together from the first real segment of the podcast, uh just life and and spiritual and business, to now the the boat maintenance and uh questions we answered, really to wrap it all together, it's like there's no coating that replaces the wash, and there's no moment that replaces the work uh in your boat or in your life, right? It's like like there's not just a one thing, one moment that gets you to where you want to be. Uh and same with your boat, there's not just a one cover, a one thing uh that allows you to skip the work. And it's in the process. And if we can learn what we want and enjoy the things we need to do to get where we want to be uh and really lock in in that way, uh we'll learn to be thankful in the things we have and the things we prayed for. Yeah. And also, dude, enjoy the process. Yeah. Like enjoy every step of the process.

SPEAKER_01

So you know, one of my mentors tells me all the time like, how do you actually show someone that you love them? You do loving things to them and for them. Yeah. You know, like how many times you know you hear people like, yeah, I love my wife, and then they're out there partying, doing all this stuff, you know, treating them like crap. Yeah. And it's like, do you actually love your life? Uh love your wife? And it's the same like with your with your with your boat. It's like, hey, you say you love your boat, but are you actually taking care of it? Yeah. Like, are you cleaning it? Are you maintaining it? Are you changing the oil? Are you rinsing it? You know, flushing out the motors. Uh, same with your car. You say you love your car, but there's trash cans and monster cans in the floorboard, you know. Um sounds like you're speaking from like personal experience. I am experienced because I would try to convince myself that I loved my old truck and it was always a mess. And my brand new truck outside, literally not a single piece of trash in there. So yeah, it's good, man. Because I actually love it and I want to take care of it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, sweet. Well, guys, again, thank you. Thank you for spending time with us today. Uh, whether you are working on a boat with some AirPods in or you're getting to chill at home and you just kind of have this up on your phone or the big screen. We love you guys, love spending time with you. Uh, hope that you've taken something away uh from this episode that you know is gonna help, you know, as a catalyst in your life or your business, uh, to sp grow spiritually, uh grow financially, whatever it is, as a husband, as a wife. And uh man, we just always love the opportunity to get to speak into your lives um as we kind of grow as we talk together. So um, as always, uh we love you and we will uh we'll see you next week.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, guys. Yep, thank you for listening. We'll see you on the next episode.
