Stop Watching. Start Walking.
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The most dangerous place for a believer isn’t the wilderness — it’s the crowd. Close enough to watch Jesus, but not close enough to follow Him.
In this message we walk through the Gospel of Mark and refuse the spectator seat. Jesus doesn’t save us to watch from a distance. He saves us to walk as He walked and live as He is in this world.
We dig into one of the clearest faith stories in Scripture: four friends lower a paralyzed man through the roof to Jesus. Before Jesus heals the body, He speaks to the deeper wound: “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Why does forgiveness feel easier to say than “Rise and walk”? And what keeps so many believers stuck in hidden forms of paralysis — guilt, shame, unworthiness, and the quiet unbelief of “maybe God will”?
This message calls us to fix our eyes on Jesus, reject condemnation, and step into our identity as new creations filled with the Holy Spirit. If Acts 10:38 and John 14:12 are true, then Jesus’ ministry is not a museum piece — it’s our model.
Today I choose to follow Jesus.
I choose to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.
I am seated with Him in heavenly places.
I walk as He walked.
I am as He is in this world.
If you’ve felt paralyzed by condemnation or hesitant to be used by God, this is your reminder: stand up and walk.

Opening Prayer And Welcome
SPEAKER_00Yes, we are. Praise God. They're coming. Thank you, Lord, for all those coming from the north, the south, the east, and the west. Fill this place up to overflowing, Lord. Thank you for all those who are here today, Lord. Thank you for that you love us so much. Thank you for bringing your children together in this place today to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for all those you are sending, for all those who hear this message by some other means or see it in some other form at some other place at some other time. Bless them indeed, Lord, just as if they're part of this church with us. And indeed they are, because we pray for them as well. And we just love you for everything that you are and everything that you do. And thank you for using me today as the conduit to spread the seed of your word into the hearts of your children. Let it take root and bear fruit in their lives, Father, in Jesus' name. Amen. Glory to God. Good morning. Hallelujah. Isn't he good? Hallelujah.
Called To Walk Like Jesus
SPEAKER_00Last week we began with one powerful call to that the Lord had put upon my heart to fix your eyes on Jesus, if you remember, to focus on Jesus. And today we're just going to be picking up right there where we left off, because Jesus didn't come just for us to sit on the sidelines, did he, Miss Patricia? Did he, Barbara? He did not. He saved us to walk as he walked, to live as he is in this world. Hallelujah. To ride with him on his victorious, triumphal chariot in the procession. Hallelujah. Not to stand by as spectators in the crowd. Glory to God. Hallelujah. In Mark chapter 1, which I touched on and said that I was chomping at the bit because the Lord had had me there for several days last week. But we see where Jesus had had just come out, you know, when he had been baptized by his cousin John the Baptist in the Jordan River, he came up out of the water. The Holy Spirit landed on him like a dove and remained. And then immediately the Holy Spirit drove him into the wilderness for 40 days and for 40 nights. And and and remember, when he had come up out of that water, the Father spoke to him, didn't he? He said, You are my son, my beloved son, and I am well pleased. Do you believe that about yourself? I've heard him say that to me. And I know that that ruffles a lot of religious feathers, but I tell you what, it's true about you, just as it is about Jesus, and it was about Jesus at that time, if you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. And you need to know that. You need to know that because it'll get another thousand miles out of you. Praise God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. So the Spirit immediately then, after this wonderful moment in his life and the beginning of his new ministry at 30 years old, the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness, didn't it? For 40 days and for 40 nights. And he was tempted of the devil and he was surrounded by wild animals. But the angels of the Lord ministered to him and tended to him, didn't they? Hallelujah. In the desert, no food, no water, 40 days, wild animals. Picture that. But as Jesus himself says, his food was to do the will of his father. And just like Elijah the prophet knew by faith, Jesus knew and understood that there were more for him than against him. Glory to God. So Jesus comes out of that wilderness and immediately, after 40 days of being tempted in the wilderness of the enemy, he comes out of there. Immediately he goes straight to work. And now I'm not talking, he didn't go back, he didn't put his tool back belt back on and go back to carpentry. He didn't start framing houses or building rocking chairs. I'm talking about stepping into his supernatural ministry. Glory to God. His mission and assignment on this earth from God the Father. He didn't go back to building houses, he began building disciples. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. With great resolve. I love that word. Great resolve. He simply began to be and to do what the Father had sent him here for. Hallelujah. And that's exactly what we are called to do as well. Glory to God. As long as there's breath in our lungs, that's it. Hallelujah. So continuing from Mark chapter 1, he begins his ministry. What did he do? He walked into a synagogue and he delivered a man with an unclean spirit. So deliverance. Then what they went over to Peter's mother-in-law's house. She was sick in bed with a fever. Jesus walked over, healed her. She compelled her to get up and serve them. When Jesus touches you. And then what did he do? Then everybody in town lined up at the door, didn't they? And what did Jesus do? He healed, he delivered, he healed the sick, he delivered those with unclean spirits. Cast out demons, didn't he? Hallelujah. Hallelujah. He just shared his life. He shared his light. He shared his love. And he drove away the darkness that was never intended to cripple his creation. You see that? You have to see Jesus as he walked here on the earth because he's your example. He's your big brother. And he left you in charge to do the same work when he ascended. That's why we look so closely at his life here on the earth.
The Paralytic Lowered Through The Roof
SPEAKER_00But moving into Mark chapter 2, I want to look at something. Something even deeper. Because this was the very next thing that Mark lists. I love the gospel of Mark. It takes off running and it doesn't slow down. It's the shortest of the gospel, but it's power-packed. It's that microwave, it suits that microwave mentality that everybody has in our nation these days. So I like it because it's it's a fast-paced. Turn with me to Mark chapter 2, and I want to read to you, starting in the first verse. And when he returned, being Jesus, to Capernaum, after some days, it was reported that he was at home. And many were gathered together so that there was no more room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word to them, and they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him. And when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, Son, your sins are forgiven. Now some of the scribes were sitting there questioning in their hearts, why does this man speak like this? He's blasphemy. Who can forgive sins but God alone? And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, Why do you question these things in your hearts? Which is easier to say to the paralytic, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Rise, take up your bed and walk. But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins, he said to the paralytic, I say to you, rise, take up your bed and walk. And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw anything like this. Hallelujah. So these four men, these wonderful friends, like friends that we all hope to have, in faith, they carry their paralyzed friend to Jesus' home, having heard what Jesus was doing. And they couldn't even get close. So they take him around, they climb up on the roof, and they dig a hole in the Lord's roof. And they lower their friend right down at Jesus' feet. And it says that Jesus sees their faith. So remember, when you have a friend going through, and you know what I mean by that, sometimes they need to lean on your faith. Amen. It's hard when you're the one in the storm, but if you got a friend, that's the kind of friend you need to kind of always point you to Jesus. A friend with faith. So when he saw their faith, it says, he says to the man, to the paralytic, what would be the thing that you would think he was gonna say? They came for healing, they dug a hole, dropped him down in front of Jesus, and what were they expecting? Healing. Jesus, I told you he's very matter-of-fact, isn't he? Jesus looked at the man, I mean, he saw the friend's faith, he was impressed, and he looked at the man and he said, Son, your sins are forgiven. The religious leaders are offended. Of course, religious folks are always gonna be offended with the things of God for some reason. Jesus answered them, he answered their thoughts. He perceived in his spirit. He says, Which is easier to say, listen to this, which is easier to say to the paralytic, your sins are forgiven, or to say, rise, take up your bed and walk. But that you may know that I have authority on earth to forgive sins, he said to the paralytic, I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home. And the man got up, he picked up his bed, and he went home. They were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw anything like this.
Forgiveness Versus Healing And Real Faith
SPEAKER_00Now let me just answer that question that he asked them, which you notice when he asked questions of religious hypocrites, they never answer him, and that frustrated him a lot of times. I'll answer that question for you. It's a lot easier to say your sins are forgiven than it is to say to the paralytic, rise and walk. Why? I mean, both of those things require about the same amount of breath to say them, don't they? So it's not a physical issue of what's hard or what's easy. So it's not the spoken word, it's that one requires no visible manifestation. You see, the other does. This is important. The same reason so many Christians, so many preachers are quick to tell people that their sins are forgiven, but refrain from commanding their healing. The forgiveness is by faith. And I'm talking about the one speaking it over someone. Because when it comes to other Christians and to to even ministers, I say sort of by faith, maybe. Whether they say it or not, a lot of them are really thinking that. And it requires no physical manifestation. There's no proof of that, there's no proof of what's in their heart, so and we're not that we're not there to judge their motives, so they can get by with that. You see what I'm saying? We can get by with that as Christians. Jesus has forgiven your sins. Just for you know, but they may not really even be in faith when they're speaking that to the person, just like when they pray for their healing. Maybe God will, maybe He won't, maybe God did it to them. Maybe God put this on them to teach them a lesson. That's crazy. And let me tell you something else. It's not the Bible, it's not the word of God, and that is not faith. But back to the paralyzed man in Mark chapter 2, who was healed, because this is essential. Then and now for the man who was paralyzed, and for those today who are paralyzed either in their body or by some other crippling fear or torment or sickness or guilt or shame or unworthiness. Because all of those things can paralyze you in a sense. You see what I'm saying? Jesus first dealt with this man's real problem. I believe that the condemnation, the guilt, the shame this man was carrying, and Jesus perceived it by the Spirit. Condemnation is often disguised. Not only with the guilt and shame of living a life of sin in this fallen world, but the general sense of unworthiness in whatever form it takes and manifests in our lives. The feeling the enemy happily installs over us like a dark cloud. Am I the only one who ever experienced that? Because this very thing that Jesus did for this paralytic in Mark chapter 2, he did for me. And I'm so thankful. The enemy installs that dark cloud over us. He gets great pleasure in it, crippling us in that way. To prevent us, he only has two modes to prevent us from receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. And then if he can't stop that, then he just switches gears and tries to prevent us from receiving God's love and blessings and being of any service to the Lord. These layers of the onion that keep us from receiving God's love and blessing, Jesus recognized this man's problem and he removed it. So the man could free, be free spiritually, then made whole physically. Oh, this is so powerful if we can just get it. Acts chapter 10, 38. Because we're studying the life, the ministry, the three and a half year power-packed ministry of Jesus Christ, because it was our perfect example of what we are to be and do in him. Acts 10, 38 tells us how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, and he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him. So see, this is the will of God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ to do good and to heal and to deliver all who are oppressed of the devil. Now let's move on to us because it says Jesus said in John 14, 12, at that great Last Supper, he said, Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever, raise your hand if you're a whoever, whoever believes in
Identity In Christ And Hearing God
SPEAKER_00me will also do the works that I do, and greater works than these will these do because I go to I'm going to the Father. Church, this is not a history lesson. This is our inheritance. If you can believe, all things are possible to them who believe. Not in and of ourselves, not because we're anything in the flesh, the flesh is never impressive, not to God, but because we're connected to the source of life and blessings and love and health and deliverance and salvation. Second Corinthians 5 17 says that if anyone is in Christ, he's a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come. You are a new creation in Christ, and as this new creation, free of that sin nature, that corrupted fallen nature of Satan, we now have the nature of God within us. We have the kingdom of God within us. The Holy Spirit has taken up residence inside of these vessels, these earthen vessels. So now we just yield. We surrender to Him. What gifts or talents or abilities you were given? Satan was the head of worship in heaven until he headed up a rebellion. A gift that is not in submission to God is a danger and a threat. Threat to the person and to everyone around them. We quit striving, though. We yield to Jesus and we enter that rest, and it has to be done on purpose because it's a struggle to enter that rest that He's provided. So it's it's not something that just is that easy to do. It comes through that relationship that we cultivate with the Lord Jesus Christ. And we just begin to be led through this life, just as sheep are led by the shepherd, you see. As someone who always loved and joined, enjoyed, and then and and we had cattle and growing up, and Tavana and I even we she loved those cows, and and I always loved them too. But they don't just follow you around unless you got a hay bell on your back of your truck or something. They kind of stubborn. You have to drive them. Drive those cattle. Not sheep. You can't drive sheep. They follow the shepherd's voice. Hallelujah. Our work, just like Jesus, when he hung up his tool belt at the age of 30 and began his ministry. Our work is no longer the type of work that religion calls for to earn a relationship or access to God. You can't do that. But it's because we've already been received and accepted in the beloved, made to be children of God. Our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. We're seated with Christ in heavenly places, and we're riding with him on that triumphal chariot, celebrating the victory that he has already won. Now, our battle isn't to win the victory, it's to protect the victory that's already been won by Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. So we follow him. Every day we choose to follow Jesus, to stay close to him, to stay connected to him, to stay focused on him. He said here in John chapter 10, verse 27, my sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. God speaks to us. Because you know that's more valuable to him than this whole world that's gonna pass away.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_00And they're sure gonna believe that and come a hugging you.
unknownHallelujah.
SPEAKER_00Glory to God. But I was just saying, God speaks to us, and some people say, Well, I just, you know, these these great ministers and evangelists and prophets, they come and they talk about these wonderful things, or you know, he didn't come and sit down on the bed like he did with Barbara with me. I I don't hear him, you know. You do hear him. Let me encourage you in this. I believe in the Garden of Eden, when they sinned and they died spiritually, I believe something else came alive. It was called their conscience because they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which God never intended for them to understand about evil, even if they have anything to do with it. You see what I'm saying? Their conscience came alive. You have a conscience. God speaks to us first through our conscience, and then he speaks to us through his word, the word of God, this perfect representation of Jesus Christ, and then he speaks to us by his Holy Spirit. Hallelujah! So you hear God, you just have to cultivate that hearing. That's why Jesus said, You're gonna do all these wonderful things that I do in greater things because I go to the Father. Well, if you're leaving now, that makes why is that so great? Because then he can send the Holy Spirit, the promise of the Father, who is Jesus in the third person of the Trinity. You see, even there's even a place in the book of Acts where Paul reverts to that, how God is one, you see, because we it's hard to understand with our natural minds that God is definitely three distinct persons in the Trinity, but He's also one. You say, Well, was it the Holy Spirit, or was it Jesus, or was it God the Father? Yes. Jesus said, If you have you been with me so long and you still have you don't know the Father? If you've seen me, you've seen the Father. And then in the book of Acts, Paul said, and the Spirit, the Spirit told him something. But he said, the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ told us. You remember that? They didn't differentiate because they're one. Hallelujah. But that's our paraclete, the one who comes along and takes hold together with us, the one who's here with us, abides in us, and teaches us and guides us and reminds us of everything that Jesus has said and leads us through this life all the way to our final destination with our heavenly bridegroom. I say final destination because we'll be with him forever. That doesn't mean it's going to be the end of everything, and we just float around on clouds playing harps all day. That's when it's just gonna be beginning. He says, You have no idea the wonderful things I have in store for you. Once this class is finished, you see. Hallelujah! Oh, you gotta see that. You gotta see that. Romans 8 11 declares, if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through the spirit who dwells in you. Yes, Jesus will either come for us or we'll go to him, but we don't have to go sick. If we do, he won't love you any less. So don't get that into your mind. But listen, you already died with Jesus on that cross.
Throw Off Condemnation And Live Triumphant
SPEAKER_00Now you're supernatural. The same spirit that raised him from the dead lives in you and gives life to your mortal body. You're a supernatural being. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, he adds his super to our natural, doesn't he? That's a fact. This guilt and condemnation and that cripples us and paralyzes us. You know, I I stood in a courtroom in a dream and and I knew I was guilty. I was standing, I didn't know what of what, of everything, of life. I looked around and I was familiar with those courtroom settings because I had worked in and around them for a decade. I had seen people convicted of sentenced to death. I'd seen all sorts of things in those courtrooms, but I knew there was supposed to be a judge there. There wasn't. I knew there were supposed to be prosecutors at their table there. There wasn't. Maybe a jury of my peers. The jury box was empty. No one there to accuse me. No one there to pass judgment. Because standing on my right side was Jesus Christ. My advocate. My lawyer. And they didn't even have the courage to show up and accuse me of anything. Justified I was. Just as if I'd never sinned. Gideon saw himself as the least in his father's house. But the angel of the Lord. That's what's called a Christophany. In the Old Testament, you see sometimes an angel, or in the New Testament, an angel appeared. That could be Gideon or Michael. Those are the only ones that have manifested to human beings. But the angel, when it says the angel of the Lord, that's Jesus. The angel that appeared to Gideon was Jesus pre-incarnate. Gideon saw himself as the least in his father's house, but the angel of the Lord called him a mighty man of valor. Moses felt inadequate. But God equipped him. By the way, that was Jesus in the burning bush as well. Jeremiah tried to excuse himself from his prophetic ministry, didn't he? I'm too young, Lord. God said, Don't say that. It's never about them, it's about God working through them. Peter denied Jesus three times in one night, but Jesus restored him and made him a great leader. They'd line people up on the streets just so his shadow might cross over some of them and heal them. That's the anointing there. Even John the Baptist, if you recall, Jesus said that there was no greater one had ever been born of a woman than John the Baptist, his cousin. But then he said, Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. He didn't have the new covenant. Jesus hadn't died yet and provided what we have today. So you are greater than Gideon. You are greater than Moses. You are greater than Jeremiah. You're greater than John the Baptist. Not in and of yourself, but because you yourself have died. And the life that you live now is no longer you who live, but Christ who lives in you and through you. And the Holy Spirit gives life to those mortal bodies of yours. If you were still just you, the old you, you wouldn't be greater than anyone. Never were. That's what I was trying to show you. Glory to God. It's about having laid all that aside, taking up our life in Christ and allowing him to live in and through us. And we we have to see ourselves as that person, the children, the family of God, as Jesus Himself, if you can handle that, walking in and living through you, and healing through you, and loving through you in this life. Church, stop seeing yourself as a spectator, as a bystander in the crowd. Jesus has great need of you. Ephesians 2.6 says, God raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. And 2 Corinthians 2.14, we touched on last week, says, but thanks be to God, who in Christ always, always, always leads us, not will lead us one day when he returns and he sets up his kingdom in Jerusalem and we rule and reign with him for a thousand years. Of course, that's going to be wonderful. But he's talking about right now in the sweet now and now. He always is leading us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. But will you accept the role as ambassador for Jesus Christ? Will you take up your identity in him and realize who you are and get mad at the devil for having lied to you and deceived you and paralyzed and crippled you with all these crazy things and run him off in the name of Jesus? Remind him of the triumphal procession that you're riding on the chariot with Jesus right now, and the blood of Jesus has defeated him at the cross of Calvary and all of his demons. We're on that chariot with Jesus. We're not fighting for victory, we're walking in the victory already won. 1 John 4, 17 says, as he is, so are we in this world. That means right now. Right now. You look in the mirror and you say, I've not known Jesus. That preacher's crazy. You have to open your spiritual eyes and ears. I'm talking about the part of you that you can't discern with your natural mind. We are three-part beings. 1 Thessalonians 5 23 says, We are spirit, soul, and body. The spirit is what was born again, renewed. That spirit of Satan was cast out, and God moved in. The kingdom of God, the mind of Christ, and then sealed it up so we couldn't screw it up with the Holy Spirit Himself. Incorruptible. One third of your salvation is completed the day that you said, Lord Jesus, come into my life. I know who you are, and I want you to be my Lord and Savior. Now we're just getting rid of a stinking thinking in this soulish realm, our personality, mind, will, and emotion to line up with what's in our born-again spirit. And we find out who we are and what we have in that spirit through this word and through the help of the Holy Spirit, who's come to remind us of everything that Jesus has said. Glory to God. Right here in your town. Believe me, on Sunday mornings coming to church, I pass by a lot more homes with every car in the driveway on Sunday mornings. I pass a lot of people out there mowing their grass or pulling their boats than I do homes of people on their way to church. There are lots of people right in the in your midst that needs you. Charles Spurgeon, great man of God, he once said, Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter. That doesn't mean that you have to go to the corners of the earth, but it does mean that if you truly believe these things,
Declarations And Closing Prayer
SPEAKER_00these things that we meet here together and grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, as I love to say so often, and the word of God, and to discover our true identity in Christ, if you truly believe these things, then those things should take root and bear fruit in your life. And out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, Jesus said. So whatever we really believe, Samuel, whatever we really believe, we're going to say. And if we're never telling anyone about Jesus, what he's done for us, or what he wants to do for them, and what he's already provided, if they will just accept that grace by faith, then we may have a belief problem. The Bible encourages us to take a little check up from the neck up to see whether we be in the faith. As Jesus is, so are we in the world. I still have. If he only knew that thought I had when that guy pulled in front of me the other day, he does know that thought. And you know what? You will, you'll be judged for that thought one day. Not the kind of judge that judgment to unto perition, but for rewards and loss of rewards. That's at the at the at the good judgment seat of Christ. But it's not gonna change the way he feels about you. And if you belong to him, you belong to him. And he wants to use you. He wants you to get your butt out of the way. But, but, but, but, but just get your butt out of the way. And let him use you. Let him live in love through you. Shine your light. So today, let's fix our eyes on Jesus. Let's hear his voice. Let's walk as he walked. Let us ride with him on that triumphal procession. And let us help others to do the same. Praise God. Will you declare something with me today? I think declarations are good. So I just, Tavana and I, we we make declarations every day. Hallelujah. And I think every Christian should be doing it. Because until you say it, it's not out there for the angels to work with, you see. Until you say it, the seed isn't sown, you see. Say this with me. Today I choose to follow Jesus. I choose to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith. I am seated with him in heavenly places, and I am riding with him in his triumphal procession. I walk as he walked. I am as he is in this world. I carry his authority, his victory, and his fragrance, his life, his light, his love, his healing, and the gospel of his salvation. Come, Lord Jesus. Hallelujah. Doesn't that feel good? Heavenly Father, thank you for this beautiful day. Thank you for all of your beautiful children here gathered in worship to give you glory and honor and praise. Thank you, Lord, that today you have had me to sow the seed of your word, your truth, your way, your life into the hearts of these children and to all those who will hear this message in the future. Bless them all, Lord. Help us all to live and to walk as you did, Jesus. You set the perfect example and you said we would do the same things. You did, and even greater things because you were going to the Father. And we thank you, Father, that you sent the promise, the Holy Spirit, to take up residence in these earthen vessels for all of us who have laid down our lives, reckoned ourselves dead, only to be taken up again in Christ to new life, a new creation. Thank you, Lord. Whatever you have for us to do, Holy God, use us, make us usable and use us to be a blessing, to speak your life and love and liberty and salvation to a sick and dying world, to lay hands on the sick, to open blind eyes, and to help others to enter into salvation with you, Lord Jesus, as you draw them unto yourself, Father. Oh, we thank you that you've allowed us to be born for such a time as this and to play any part that you have for us as kingdom builders in these last days. We love you so, Father. Thank you, Lord, in Jesus' name. Amen. Hallelujah. Glory to God.
