Over the fence common sense podcast
A funny, lighthearted and often sarcastic look at the issues we face in the world today. Issues we never expected to face because we have common sense. However, common sense is not as common as you would think.

Just a brief episode to comment on a few current events in the news this week.
Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the Over the Fence Common Sense podcast. I will call this episode the current events episode. It's just an honest opinion of mine of a few topics that are in the news currently. So let's jump right in. MLB, Major League Baseball. Stick to baseball and hot dogs. Leave politics out of it. Personal opinions. Not everybody celebrates Pride Month. So you can't require players to wear a Pride emblem and say no to Bible verses. And that seems that's the only thing that they won't allow is Bible verses. I've heard from current and former players that they've oftentimes worn different emblems on their hat to honor a former player, maybe who's passed away, or um a family member that's in the military. They allow that. It's just not a Bible verse. So in my opinion, you can't have it both ways. Again, just my opinion. I don't I don't understand it. Um stay out of it. You're you're a baseball team organization. Stick to hot dogs and um t-shirt bombs, you know, that shoot the t-shirts into the audience and and mascots and and fundraisers and and charities, but something as political as Pride Month, you you you have to let players decide or just stay out of it altogether. That's my favorite option. But uh a Bible verse, no, absolutely not. Hell no, no way. So get it together, MLB. It's all or nothing. Again, just my opinion. I often follow up my opinions by just saying, because I I really don't want to offend anybody, just just my opinion. Switching channels or pages, jumping right into what in God's name has happened to the Democratic Party. The obvious lack of leadership in the past decade. I can remember as a kid at my great-grandparents' house in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, there was a picture of John F. Kennedy in every single room. Democrats were different back then, they weren't so extreme. Um they were a sensible party, they had sensible ideas, they made great things happen in this country. Something's happened in the past two years or longer. They've evolved to this extreme um just they act like teenagers. The costumes, the singing, the the campaign promises, everything's changed. They act like teenagers. Is there an adult in the room? Anywhere. But they never campaigned on their socialist ideas. They ran on left-leaning ideas, but they weren't so extreme and socialist. But the candidates today are wearing it on their sleeve, proud democratic socialist. And we all know that's not gonna work. It is very appealing to people for whatever reason. I'll never understand it. But my question to socialists is very simple. I mean, it's not been successful anywhere ever, but what happens when the people that are working and paying taxes quit working and quit paying taxes? Because you've already chased all the big businesses out of your area, your city. So who's gonna pay? Because taxpayers aren't gonna go for this. Well, I want to work, so I'll work and pay for people who don't want to work. It's not gonna fly. And that's what it boils down to. Uh who's gonna fund your free buses and your free child care? Because it's nobody's gonna be paying taxes, so I don't know what the answer is gonna be at that time. I don't know that I would put my child in free daycare would make me question um the qualifications and certifications of the staff. Are they licensed? Are they certified? Is anyone checking? Uh it just opens up all kinds of questions. So, but with no taxes, no programs. But again, moving on to America's 250, and I'll close with this topic, and I I'm not gonna say a whole lot because I do plan on doing some episodes um in the future for America's 250, sharing some interesting facts and information. And I mean, everyone knows I'm a proud American. This is the greatest country on the earth. But I heard recently about a poll, I think it was Rutters that did it, um, and I was shocked to find that in this poll only 27% of Democrats will display a flag for the 4th of July this year. That pisses me off to no end. Because you're still an American, you live in this country, you take advantage of the freedoms and the benefits of living in this country, but yet you won't display a flag. Just because you hate the current administration? That's so wrong. Hypocritical almost. Now, I hated Joe Biden and and Obama. I disagreed with everything they stood for and everything they were about, and they were crooked and they were they locked, but it was just horrible. But I didn't take my flag down. I was still proud to be an American. You know, my friends and my family and people that I associate with that are Republicans, we struggled through it, we laughed about it, and but we were still patriotic and we still loved our country. But not displaying the flag just because you dislike the current president is so juvenile, it's so unamerican. It's so, it's a blow to the military, the people that fight for this country. I would never disrespect my country in that way. It just blows my mind. So look that poll up, you'll see the numbers, it's shocking. There's a lot more information as well about whether or not they agree with the administration. But remember what I said in a previous episode, and this is so true, this this TDS, this Trump derangement syndrome, it's getting out of hand. Um if you hate the man more than you love your country, you are part of the problem. 100%. Don't let that hate for the man destroy your love for the country. Put your flag up. Be a proud American. Get through it, do something about it, vote, run for office, um, campaign for someone. Don't just not put your flag up. If you've never been to another country, I would encourage you to go because then you would then realize we are living in the greatest country on earth. I personally am a Republican and I'm proud to be a Republican. I've shared before my thoughts on Donald Trump. I think he's pompous, arrogant. He's an ass, but he's a great president. The things he's doing for this country. So just be proud of the freedoms that we have and the benefits of living in America and put your flag up. So that's all I'll say about that. Just say it. Thank you all for watching, and please remember to share, follow, tell your friends about it. And remember, folks, what you allow is what will continue. So if you're not happy, do something about it. You have the ability and you're in control. Until next time, God bless you and America. Bye.
