What happens when siblings sit down to compare the ghost stories that have followed them throughout their lives? In this episode of Sibling Paranormal Files, we dive into real-life encounters with restless spirits, unexplained apparitions, and the eerie moments that still leave us questioning what we experienced.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome everybody to The Vine in the Veil, the podcast where we dive between worlds to reveal the mysteries of the light and the dark, the wisdom of the spiritual, the wonder of the mystical, and the power of the supernatural. I'm your host, Carlos, and this is my co-host, Maria. And yeah, I mean, it it seems like a lot of our listeners want to know more about ghost stories.

SPEAKER_00

I think people seem to be fascinated with paranormal paranormal experiences.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so I guess we dubbed these episodes the sibling paranormal files. I think that that rings pretty well. So in this episode of the sibling paranormal files, what are we talking about?

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna go back to other memories. Like we I think we've only scratched the surface in going through these, like other memories have come up. I'll start with one of mine. It was actually one of my most terrifying experience experiences.

SPEAKER_02

Let's go.

SPEAKER_00

And one of the things as I was talking to Carlos, our my nephew, his son, we were talking about experiences that he had both at our house, at his house as a kid, and all of those things. And there were a couple common things that would always happen. Something would always wake us up, right? And then next thing we know, like we're running to mom and dad's room. There was one time where something woke me up. I might have been like seven or eight. And of course, I try to beeline for mom and dad's room. Now I'm not sure what woke me up, but as I'm running to mom and dad's room, I end up putting the brakes on because in our living room, like right where the thermostat is, there is like a banshee-looking spirit like flowing, and she is like this light white, bluish, translucent color, completely terrifying. I'm pretty sure her mouth was open and she was like looking like she wanted to scream. I was trying to scream, nothing came out, and I only had two choices: either going back there or trying to go around or to run to mom and dad's room. And at that point, they were like our safety zone. So I ended up getting enough courage to run around her and jump into bed with mom and dad and wake them up, tell them all about what happened. They went out, there was nothing there. But that was probably like my most terrifying spirit that I saw in the house.

SPEAKER_02

Dang, yeah, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she was freaking. I could like even now it's just like I could see her like in front of me.

SPEAKER_04

Ooh.

SPEAKER_00

Because it's just that, like, that much of a memory in my brain.

SPEAKER_04

If you could describe her, what is like what was did you see facial features? Oh, like fully, like a full apparition.

SPEAKER_00

Full friggin' apparition, not the full, like the size of a full body, but we just saw He-Man. And remember, like the guy that comes out. I don't remember if he came out on the end of He-Man, but end of She-Ra, the guy with the zero on him. Oh, yeah, yeah. So probably about like that. If she was standing, probably about this height. I don't know if you could see that, probably about this height. And she was like free-flowing and like no legs, arms, and just like her face, like scraggly hair, and her face was just like contorted in this like fear and like terror, which I don't know if she was trying to scare me, or maybe she was like terrified herself. But it wasn't like it wasn't friendly feeling.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. So what did you end up? Did you end up going to mom and dad's after all? I just powered the.

SPEAKER_00

I just power I like I went around, I'm like, I don't want to go back because I don't know what's waiting for me there. But at the time, like mom and dad were safe to me. They were my safety zone. So I I didn't want to, I wasn't sure what was waiting for me in the bedroom. So I decided to run around and make run to mom and dad's room.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That's kind of creepy.

SPEAKER_00

It was really creepy. It was really creepy.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I don't remember if I if I told this one in the last episode, but there was a our school, the college that we went to, because we went to a place called Whittier College that was founded by Quakers. And I told a story about seeing a ghost when I worked in as an RA for the summer program. But this was you would have all kinds of interesting things happen during when school was in session. Because things happen in college, right? You'll you'll you've had people that have committed suicide in their dorm rooms, or you know, people that have been OD'd or things like that over a long period of time. Because I mean, this is we're talking hundreds of years of existence. So there is this story about uh the caretaker, one of the original caretakers of college, and he would caretake the science building, and he would caretake the gym, and the old gym, which was one of the original ones, was turned into uh an art building or an art exhibit. So you would take art classes there and and everything, and so it was it was completely different, it no longer served the purpose of of being a gym, but you could still see all the hardwood floors and the old lights and stuff, and it was kind of neat. But every time you walked in there, you got this weird feeling like you were being watched, and you couldn't shake it. I can't at least I couldn't shake it. I don't know if anybody else felt it, but I just couldn't shake the fact that I was I was being watched. So one night I'm coming from the one of the original dorms that that's there, which is Stoffer Hall, and I'm headed to Harris Hall. Now, Harris Hall is on a hill, and you have to climb all of these stairs in order to be able to get up there. And it was probably about, I don't know, like say one o'clock in the morning, because you know, people the college never really sleeps. And as I'm walking up the stairs, I end up looking up because I felt like I was being watched again, but this time I'm outside the building, and I look up in the corner and I see somebody like this. They're like in the top windows of the gym in the top windows of the gym, and somebody's just looking at me. And I just I freaked out.

SPEAKER_00

Was he glowing?

SPEAKER_04

No, it's just a face, like think of think of not like a full, like a full face, because those windows are kind of they've got a lot of dirt and grime on it, but just think of something that like had pressed itself up against the window, and it's just they're just looking at me. And I looked up and I was like, oh my god, and I just ran. I ran up the stairs so fast because it was, I I mean, up until that point, it was just a feeling, but that was the first time I actually saw some. So the next day I had our class and I went up to the second story because that's where our painting class was, and I went to look at the windows, and yeah, they're you know, they're they've got a lot of dirt and gram on them. But there is no way that somebody would be able to be up there. You would have to like literally either have like a massive scaffolding to get up there, or you are a ghost and you can just float up there and look down on somebody as they're walking in that area. But that was a pretty memorable and kind of a little creepy experience because when you feel something like that, the hair on the back of your neck stands up, the hair on your arms stand up, and you kind of get the chills because it's just like you feel, and maybe it's just the energy that's kind of culminating for the for that ghost or apparition to actually materialize in some way. But that was probably one of the I would say coolest, but a little off-putting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I could imagine so. I always felt like that felt like a shell. Like the go, not the ghost, the the gym itself felt like a shell. Like it was so open and airy, but always cold. It was always cold, and it just I did I took a ceramics class there on the bottom level, and I love the ceramics classes, fantastic. But I do like I remember like it feeling just cold. I never felt like somebody was watching me while I was in it, but when I was outside of it, I felt like somebody was watching me from there looking out. Ooh, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So there are people that are very sensitive to energy. And so I think that if you're sensitive to energy, you might attract energy. So I think that's how sometimes people will, you know, that kind of spiritual energy, residual energy will, you know, kind of attract itself towards somebody.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. I mean, maybe they're trying to say something.

SPEAKER_04

It's possible, it's possible that there's a message that's there. Yeah, you know, they want to be heard, or absolutely there's energy that's caught up in in the land itself or or something like that, which is also very, very fascinating.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think so. I think so. So going back to home when I was talking to Charlie, that I went back to memories, and for some reason, and I don't know like if this is maybe not a valid one, but I wanted to check it with you because I don't think we ever discussed it. But I often remember that something would happen that would wake us all up. Now his bedroom was across away from ours, and then we there was a hallway that we had a shared bathroom in.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

For some reason, I remember there were multiple occasions where we would all get up from something that scared us and meet in the hallway to decide to go to mom and dad's.

SPEAKER_04

Right.

SPEAKER_00

But I can't remember what woke us up.

SPEAKER_04

I think it was just footsteps in the hallway. Because they were loud. Yeah. Sometimes they weren't super loud, but sometimes they were loud. Yeah. And that, you know, there's the closet that's right there in that hallway. The linen closet. Yeah. Yes. And I think that was what actually just kind of woke us up because activity had intensified as we, you know, as we were working our way through our teens. Because, like we've mentioned before in a podcast, the, you know, when you're in your teens, energy, your energy is all over the place and it's kind of chaotic. And I think that also can attract energies or entities or or whatever it is that you that you want to call it. I also think that there's there's something to be said for, I don't know if you you guys are you have ever heard the concept of an egregor. But an egregore is basically an entity that is created based on what happens in an area. So if there's a traumatic experience in an area or things that happen that are that are heavy energy or impactful in some way to the people there, it forms an entity based on that.

SPEAKER_00

It's like pulling in the negative.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it pulls in all the whatever the trauma was.

SPEAKER_00

The trauma, the despair, all of it. And then anytime that feeling comes out in a person, it ends up great becoming greater and larger, like an energy bundle.

SPEAKER_04

It is basically so you, as the people that are there, are feeding energy into something that you created based on the trauma that exists.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think that's true with the cryptid theories that people there's it's like a negative energy, and then people end up assigning it features and characteristics, and then it it creates a a being that isn't necessarily I don't I don't think so.

SPEAKER_04

I think that there have been so many different variations of the discussions about the Bigfoots or the Windigos or things like that. And not all of them are bad encounters, and most of the time the you know, the creature or the cryptid ends up disappearing or not wanting to be seen. Occasionally there's some a little more encounters that get can potentially get a little more physical, but nothing's ever been there.

SPEAKER_00

That we know of. I mean, people go missing all the time. I mean, there are especially in the redwoods.

SPEAKER_04

There are there is that legendary or the the legend of the rake, which is also kind of encrypted, but then that one kills people. But but I I've never I've never actually encountered a a being like that.

SPEAKER_00

I'm okay not having encountered a being like that. I don't know if that's something that I would like to experience in my in my lifetime.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but going back to what you were saying, I think that maybe what ended up happening was because there was so much trauma in our household, all of that trauma that we ended up in, you know, experiencing kind of manifested into this entity that was that was that way. So as long as that existed, and as long as the trauma that we had manifested in that way, it presented itself that way. And once we were gone, there was no reason for it to be there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Or it just kind of faded off and went dormant.

SPEAKER_00

It might have. I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Or there's a just a portal in our house, and we need that that opened because of that, because that can happen sometimes. You you are there are a lot of people that are in a house are intuitive. They go through these major traumatic experiences, things happen, and now there's a portal that they inadvertently open up that lets things come.

SPEAKER_00

I do remember as I was, you know, recollecting some things that the the the common things that always happened, and we mentioned it before is the kitchen cabinets always opening the drawer, the really heavy drawer that held the cutlery opening up, glasses sliding across the dining room table, or in the kitchen, just like sliding around in front of you, things like that. And it was just like to an extent, it became a part of life where it wasn't frightening. It was like, oh, look at what the ghost is doing again. But there was just God, there were so many, so many things.

SPEAKER_04

I think that if we hadn't been so religious, it probably wouldn't have been scary at all.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Right, because when you're when you grow up that way, the fear that my mom had, because our mom was very fearful of everything, and anything that she didn't fully understand, she attributed it to being evil or demonic in some way. So that planted a seed of fear in us. And thinking back on it, knowing now what we know, it's just not scary like that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's not scary now, but also like you're talking about like mainstream media. You don't talk like how often do they portray a ghost except for Casper? That's friendly, and that you know, you have these experiences with we just re-watched 13 ghosts the other day. It was like the the ghosts were never portrayed as like something positive in media, it's always negative as a lot of things that are unexplainable or that you can't really prove. It ends up getting this negative connotation to it. But yeah, that uh I think that's another reason.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, absolutely agree. And I think all of us have kind of seen different energies that are that that exist at different points in our life, right? So, like the house that we had in in Southern California, I think was definitely built on some kind of place where there were multiple energies that had existed there that were still that were still there in the land itself. Because there was so much that we would see in that house, you know, figures and orbs and stuff like that. So you wonder, and there's a place that was called Coffin Creek that wasn't too far away. I know. So basically Coffin Coffin Creek is a so back back in the day there was a graveyard that ended up getting there was a massive flood, and it getting ended up getting washed away. And so all of the bodies, all of the Was it near one of the washes? Yeah, all of the graves ended up getting washed down because the the flood was so great. So bodies ended up strewn along the creek. That's why they called it coffin creek, because you would find broken down, broken coffins and you know, bodies that had been scattered through, and maybe some of them were recovered and maybe some of them weren't.

SPEAKER_00

So you know maybe they just wanted to be put to rest.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe, maybe you never know. But there's a lot of like that kind of energy that exists in in that area where where our old house was. And then even recently, I think one of my friends, her house, she's also very intuitive. And in her house, outside of her house, she planted obsidian and another stone to kind of ward the house. Because if you're there, you can see sometimes if you're if you're paying attention, you'll see shadows come across windows. Not in never inside, but just come across the windows outside, just like if somebody's watching or looking. And then one day she sends me this photo or this video of their front door because they have a ring cam and something triggered the ring cam. And when you see it, you'll see something come in and then it stays there for a little bit and then it disappears. And I slowed it down, and it I I kid you not, when I slowed it down, it looked like a miniature person with wings, like almost like a fairy. Like a fairy. Yeah, that had come, fluttered a little bit, and then disappeared super fast at night at like two o'clock in the morning.

SPEAKER_00

That is interesting.

SPEAKER_04

But those are those are experiences that are that are super super wild.

SPEAKER_00

I've had an experience on a freeway. So in talking to bringing up all these stories of like what had happened during our lifetime, I was coming back. I used to work in San Francisco when I was coming back home. So this was a section of the freeway after the Golden Gate Bridge, but before Sal Salito. And I usually left late, so I wouldn't have traffic, but I was in the middle of traffic, which was kind of unusual for the time that I I left. And I was back to back all the way up the hill, like almost to the Robin Williams, Robin Williams tunnel. And I was just like, oh, well, it must be a car accident, you know, not thought nothing of it because that happened every once in a while. And I see this person, and I'm assuming this person had to like go to the bathroom, full biker gear, like a full biker suit, pants, top, zipped up, blue, black, like really cool biker outfit. Look totally normal. He's what looked like he was walking in front of cars until I saw him walk through a car. And then I was like, oh, oh, so that's a ghost. And then I'm looking around to see if like anybody else around me in the other cars around me were had the same reaction or like realization that I had. And nobody, like, they weren't really even looking out, they were like on their phones. So I was like, hmm, this this is interesting. Come to find out, not that accident, but a week before the same day, there had been a fatality of a motorcycle rider on that stretch of the road. So just a little odd that I would see something like that on the freeway.

SPEAKER_04

Wow, that's pretty wild. Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_00

It was pretty crazy.

SPEAKER_04

I've seen I've seen apparitions at the casino.

SPEAKER_00

Oh really?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I was in I was in New Orleans.

SPEAKER_00

I love that.

SPEAKER_04

I was in New Orleans and I was I was gambling in a slot machine, and it was super late at night. I think because you know, sometimes you're you're on a roll.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And so you stay, you stay gambling, and it was probably about 2 30 in the morning, and I'm gambling, and you know, I'm doing my thing, and out of the corner of my eye, I see this person come and sit down, like not too far away from me. And, you know, I you could I could I can see them. It's a lady, and she's got these, you know, grandma glasses with the chain, and she's got brown hair, and she's got this like flower blouse, and she just sits down and she starts gambling on the machine. And I and I could just it felt odd because you feel like that, you feel a weird sense of energy, and I got that, I got the goosebumps and stuff, and so I was just like, what's going on? So I keep gambling and not trying to pay attention, and the lady's there, and then the waitress comes by and asks if I want a drink, and I I say no, and so she just passes by, but she doesn't ask her, she doesn't ask the lady if she wants a drink. So I go, Wait a minute, that's just odd. Because they would normally pass and ask everybody if they want a drink, and they didn't ask her. So then I I turn around and I look, and there's nobody there.

SPEAKER_00

That's crazy.

SPEAKER_04

Gone. But for a lot of people, I guess the that's her happy place. That's their happy place, and that's where that could be their heaven.

SPEAKER_00

Like I have no doubt that our dad loves a casino, that will be his future after he passes.

SPEAKER_04

He'll be he'll pass and he'll be gonna be playing a kino with playing a caveman keyno forever because that's his that's his betting one quarter because that's his excitement.

SPEAKER_00

That's I've seen that a couple times.

SPEAKER_04

I saw that in I saw that I saw that for a person in New Orleans, and I also saw a person at Alcalante as well sitting down there. So that was that was super interesting, and that's not scary, but you still get that same feeling, like right, that there's a presence there. There's a shift, the presence, the presence that's shifted there. And at least they're enjoying themselves. Like, I don't believe it.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, if I was gonna come back as a ghost, like doing what I love would be fantastic. That's funny. Dad is a hundred percent gonna come back playing Kino.

SPEAKER_04

Is there ever has there ever been an encounter with like maybe you didn't see it, but you felt it that was felt like extremely terrifying, other than the creepy possessed woman that you saw during psych evaluations and stuff like that?

SPEAKER_00

Um yes. Yes. So I this was like my own self terror. So when, and I can't remember the name, and I was gonna look it up, which I'm really sad I didn't. So the first Ed and Lorraine Warren movie The Conjuring. The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, where they introduce the nun and she's like coming out of the picture and everything. My husband doesn't like. Like horror movies. So I watched it on a Sunday, and I'm like, yeah, this I'm you know, I'm gonna creep myself out, whatever. I watch it by myself on a Sunday. On Monday, I work at a Catholic hospital. Every once in a while you'll see a nun, but they usually go up to like the regular med surge. They're all quiet, they're quiet, they're off like nowhere near surgery, they're like way off somewhere else. So that day, I'm like, you know, I'm probably gonna run into a nun today. Like, what are my chances? If it's gonna happen, it's gonna be today. So I leave, get ready for work, hadn't, or get ready to leave from work, hadn't encountered a nun all day. And as I wait to get on the elevator, which is taking a long time, I have this nun in white, mind you. I've never seen her before, come and stand next to me. Doesn't say a word, and I was like, what are the chances? And am I gonna risk going in the elevator with this lady? And if I did, what are the chances that she would like contort into something really freaky? Oh so needless to say, I freaked out and decided to take the stairs instead.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, okay. I wasn't gonna I didn't want to find out what would happen if I'm in the elevator, just the two of us, and she contorted into something scary. Nope. I'm good. Never saw her again. You're like, I saw a lot of the same people after that, a lot of the same nuns, but never saw that nun again.

SPEAKER_04

I guess and it's interesting that a movie could have that kind of an impact on you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but what are the chances? Like, I never had a nun run like ride the elevator with me while I worked there. I would see them again, like in the cafeteria, I would see them upstairs, but I never saw them on our side of maybe you manifested it. I could have man, I mean, I wish I could manifest a whole lot of other things.

SPEAKER_04

The the the fear manifested that encounter right to see how you would react.

SPEAKER_00

I'm very good at manifesting like CDP mission for the surveys. I'm like, you know what? It feels like it's our survey window. I feel like they're gonna show up today, and then next thing you know, they actually show up. I'm very good at that.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that's funny.

SPEAKER_00

I wish I could manifest other well.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, I guess you could. If you could do that one, you could probably do something else.

SPEAKER_00

I guess I guess I could.

SPEAKER_04

Just not being limited to anything. That is really cool.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, there's just there's so many experiences. Because you mentioned that you here, especially where we are on the on the vineyard, there's like 40 acres here.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And there's a lot of there's a lot of wildlife, there's a lot of birds that are out here. So it's it's interesting. Have you had any sort of like crazy encounter here outside of one of the things that you have already talked about?

SPEAKER_00

The ones that I've talked to about. I don't remember if I brought up the experience I had. So as we mentioned, my sister brings a lot of weird energy with her. So the first time she came out to visit, we were having dinner out on the side porch by the garage. And out of nowhere, we hear a growl, like a demonic, like very guttural growl. And I ignore it because I'm, you know, I've gotten to the point in life, it's like I don't have time for that, or I'm like really too tired that I really just don't hear.

SPEAKER_04

You're like, yeah, I ain't nobody got time for that.

SPEAKER_00

It's not gonna bother me. Do your thing, I'll do my thing, we'll be good. But she was like, Did you hear that? Did you hear that? And then Craig was like, Did you hear that? Did you hear that? And Daniel's like me, he's like, I heard it, but I'm not gonna give it any of my attention. But it was definitely something that we all heard, and never happened after that, but it was definitely a grill. Now I did after that film, like there was something watching us in between the vines for about a month or two afterwards. Like I felt something was lurking in the vines that weren't like the jackrabbits or weren't like the coyotes or the or the foxes or the birds or whatever it was. I felt like there was like something more rakish, maybe like a cryptid y thing that was watching us.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, interesting.

SPEAKER_00

And that's why we got like the flashlight. That was another reason why we got the high-powered flashlight, so we could look into the what are you gonna do with the flashlight? You're like, oh damn, it's pretty much. But yeah, they know.

SPEAKER_04

Other than that, I haven't really I've I've only seen some what I could describe as like pet energy. Like in when I was in the kitchen, I saw something kind of dart by. And we don't, you know, the cats don't go up in the thing like that. So it was it was some kind of energy that went from the kitchen in towards the bedroom. So I chalked that up to residual pet energy. Or a parallel reality where there is an existence of a cat that kind of took off that way in this in this alternate universe that is happening at the same time and it overlapped a little bit. Which is kind of cool when you think of it that way. And then I had an experience where I remember I texted you guys where I was walking down there, there's a path that kind of surrounds the the property, and I I walk it usually every night a bunch of different times, and I I felt something talk to me at one point. Uh, but it was really interesting because it followed, but it couldn't cross the the threshold. The threshold of the of the fence line.

SPEAKER_00

That's I put obsidian in the fork.

SPEAKER_04

But it followed and it was, you know, it was it was it was not a it was a heavy, let's just put it this way, it was a heavy energy. A heavy energy. Uh and I I basically told it that it didn't belong and it needed to it needed to leave because this wasn't a place for it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And it hung on for a little bit, but then it just it faded away, and you could feel like the energy shift. So that's the only other thing that I've I've experienced on this property. Other than that, it's been very very good. Very good energy, very quiet.

SPEAKER_00

In healthcare, we don't like the word quiet, but not healthcare related. In this town, I have experienced one other spirit. So at the golf course, which my husband absolutely loves, I'm there. We had finished um a round, and we were inside having a round, and I see this guy, an older gentleman, probably in his like late 60s, walk by, totally 1970s slick back hair, leisure suit like cardigan with like the pointy shirt, leisure suit like 1970s, like slacks. And I watch him and I was like, I haven't seen this guy before. And I'm just waiting for him to go around because there's like this panoramic view of the mountains and like beautiful windows, and you could see the person like walking out ready to go to the go to check in to play around. And I see him, and I'm like waiting for him to come around because I could see him in one of the doors of the bar that leads out to from the bar to the pro shop, and he never comes around. And I was like, where the hell did this guy go? So then I walk out because I'm super curious. Did he end up just like walking out and started walking the course? He's nowhere to be found. I end up going back to where the players put their scores in the computer, which is on the way to the bathroom. And sure enough, on the billboard, where kind of like the originators of the original owners or players of that place, this guy's picture is.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that's cool.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And on that note, that concludes our podcast for the day. But if you guys have had an experience, I mean, we we could talk all about the experiences that we have, but we're curious about the experiences that you guys have had.

SPEAKER_00
