"The Momentum Coach Podcast exists to remind every midlife woman that her life is not over, it is just beginning.

We gather each week around the real conversations about identity, purpose, love, faith, money, health, and becoming because we believe that the woman who has spent decades showing up for everyone else deserves a space to finally show up for herself.

Through honest conversations, hard-won wisdom, and the courage to live out loud, we are building a movement of women who refuse to stay small, refuse to play it safe, and refuse to believe that their best days are behind them.

This is not a podcast about surviving midlife. This is a podcast about owning it. Because midlife is not a decline. It is the most powerful chapter of a woman's life. And every woman deserves someone in her corner telling her so." Dr. Novice McDaniel, The Momentum Coach

Welcome to the Momentum Coach Podcast. If you've ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about your next step, you are in the right place. Every week we'll talk about mindset, consistency, momentum, and productivity so you can go from stuck to unstoppable. I want you to think with me for a moment about a caterpillar. Stay with me. That caterpillar doesn't decide one day to become a butterfly and then immediately sprout wings. First of all, it goes into a cocoon. And inside that cocoon, it doesn't just grow wings and emerge. It actually dissolves completely. The caterpillar breaks down into what scientists call biological soup. It essentially becomes nothing recognizable before it rebuilds into something completely new. Reinvention isn't pretty on the inside, but what comes out of the other side is extraordinary. I'm Dr. Novice McDaniel, the Momentum Coach, and this is episode two of the Momentum Coach podcast, reinventing yourself after 40. Today we are talking about one of the most misunderstood concepts in a midlife woman's journey, reinvention. And I need to start by telling you what reinvention is not. Reinvention does not mean starting from scratch. Say that with me. Reinvention does not mean starting from scratch. Because here is what I see happening to women, brilliant women, capable women, experienced women. When they start to feel that pull towards something new, they look at everything they've built, everything they've learned, every role they've played, every skill they've developed, every hard thing they have survived. And instead of seeing assets, they see baggage. You have emotional intelligence forged in the fire of real relationships, real loss, and real challenge. You have clarity about what matters and what does not matter. That only comes from having lived enough, enough life to know the difference. You're not starting from scratch. You are starting from experience. And that is the most powerful starting point that there is. I want to make a case for midlife reinvention that nobody else is making. Because the world tends to frame this. This time in our lives, this season of a woman's life has a decline. The kids are leaving. The body is changing. The career has plateaued. The marriage has evolved. The friendships are shifting, and the world looks at all of that and says, Poor her, things are falling away. Poor her. Space in your schedule, space in your identity, space in your priorities, space in your heart. And space, my friend, my sister, is not lost. Space is invitation. It's life clearing the ground so something new can grow. And now let me give you three reasons why 40, 50, 60, and beyond is actually the ideal time to reinvent yourself. Reason number one, you finally know what you don't want. In your 20s and 30s, you were still figuring it out. You said yes to things that did not fit because you were not sure yet. You tolerated things, jobs and relationships, dynamics, because you thought that maybe that was just how life was. By midlife, you know. You know what drains you, you know what lights you up, you know which rooms to leave, you know which rooms leave you feeling empty, and which ones fill you back up. That knowledge is priceless for reinvention. You're not wandering in the dark, you have a map drawn from your own experience. And then reason number two, you have less to prove and more to give. The exhausting performance of early adulthood needing to be impressive, needing to be liked, needing external validation tends to quiet down in midlife. And what fills that space is something much more powerful, purpose. Not what will make people, what will make people think I'm successful, but what actually matters. What do I want my life to mean? Who do I want to serve? What do I want to leave behind? That shift from proving to giving is the engine of the most meaningful reinventions I have ever witnessed. And then reason number three: you have survived the unsurvivable. Whatever you've been through, and I know some of you have been through some things that would break most people. You are still here. I'm still here. Sisters, we are still here. We're still breathing, we're still showing up, we're still listening to this podcast. That resilience, that is not just nothing. That is everything. The woman who has been tested by life and is still standing has a depth about her and a strength and a credibility that cannot be manufactured. When you step into your reinvention, when you start that business, launch that podcast, go back to school, write that book, build that new life, you bring all of that with you. Every scar is a qualification, every hard season is a teacher. Every moment you thought you couldn't go on, you couldn't go any further. And you did. Now I want to walk you through what reinventing actually looks like in real life. Because it's not a straight line, it's not a switch that you you just flip, it's a process, and knowing the stages means you won't quit, you won't quit when it gets uncomfortable, when it gets a little hard, but you'll recognize where you are. The stirring. This is the quiet, persistent feeling that something needs to change. It might feel like restlessness or boredom or low-grade dissatisfaction that you can't quite name. You might be going through the motions of a life that looks fine from the outside, but on the inside, something is whispering. This isn't it. The stirring is not a problem to fix, it is a signal to follow. Most women try to silence the stirring. They get busier, they push it down, they tell themselves they're being ungrateful or dramatic. Don't silence it. Listen to it. It is the most important voice in the room. The voice of God speaking to you in the stirring. Stage two is the questioning. This is where you start asking the real questions. Who am I beyond my roles? What do I actually want? What have I been tolerating that I no longer have to tolerate? What would I do if I wasn't afraid? What does the next version of my life actually look like? The questioning can feel destabilizing. Because when you start pulling on those threads, things begin to shift. Your relationships to your work begin to shift. Your relationship to certain people begin to shift. Your relationship to yourself shifts. This can feel like falling apart, but it is not falling apart. It's the caterpillar dissolving. Remember that? It's necessary. So stay in the questions. Don't rush yourself to the answers. And then stage three is the deciding. This is the most powerful stage and the most underrated stage. The deciding is not when you figure everything out. The deciding is simply when you say, I am no longer available for the life I have been living. I am choosing something more aligned. I don't know exactly what that looks like yet, but I am moving toward it. That decision made in your bones, not just your head, is when momentum begins. You don't need a full plan, you don't need certainty. You just need to decide. And then comes stage four, which is the building. This is where reinvention becomes real. One choice at a time. One conversation you were too afraid to have. One application you finally submit. One boundary you finally hold. One morning you spend doing the thing, the very thing you've always wanted to do. One person that you reach, that you reach out to who is already living the life you want, like a coach. The building is not dramatic. The building is daily, it's step by step, is showing up for the new version of yourself, even when the old version pulls you back, and she will pull you back. Old patterns are comfortable, old identities, familiar. But every time you choose the new version, every single time you build momentum. And momentum, once it starts, once momentum starts, it's very hard to stop. Your momentum move for this week is what I call the reinvention. The reinvention inventory. In the first column, write what I'm leaving behind. List the things, the roles, list the identities, the habits, the relationships, those beliefs about yourself that no longer fit who you are becoming. And be honest. Be brave. Sister, be brave. And then in the second column, write down what I'm carrying forward. List the skills, the wisdom, the strengths, the experiences, everything you have earned from your life so far that belongs in your next chapter. I promise you that second column will be longer than you expect because you have built more than you know. You are not starting from scratch. You are starting from right here. And here, with everything you've lived, your lived experiences, and everything you've learned, those things that you have survived, here is a remarkable place to begin. Thank you so much, sis. Thank you for spending this time with me today. Thank you for trusting me. If episode two stirred something in you, that's good. That stirring is the Holy Spirit. That stirring is the beginning of everything. Don't push it down, don't talk yourself out of it. Follow it, follow the stirring. Next week, we're going to talk about something that quietly holds more women back than almost anything else. And that's the people that are in your circle. Who is accelerating your momentum and who is quietly stealing it? Episode three is going to be a real one, right? Episode three is going to be a real one.
