Sylvia, Evie, and Sandy

In this episode of Windrixville, I’m taking a closer look at three of the most overlooked girls in The Outsiders: Sylvia, Evie, and Sandy. Even though we barely hear from them, their relationships with Dally, Steve, and Soda give me a lot to think about when it comes to love, heartbreak, reputation, and what we’re missing from Ponyboy’s perspective.

I’m looking at what little we actually know about these girls and asking what their stories might look like if we could hear their side of things. Sometimes the characters standing in the margins can tell us just as much about the story as those at its center.
