SPEAKER_01

So, okay, let's um there's just a lot of news to be. I mean, look, I'm I'm pretty excited um for this first topic. I think that um, you know, I think uh I think it's it's great for us to see history in the making, right? Not with not just with the players, but also with you know with with those that lead the staff, right? So Dave Roberts um, you know, recently hit his 1000th career win. He became the fastest manager in MLB, in MLB history, uh to accomplish that, right? Um guys, thoughts on Dave Roberts' accomplishment? Um, and uh what do you say to all of the fire Dave Roberts uh people that were you know calling for him to you know get fired back back uh back what was it like a couple years ago, uh or even up until last year, I think I was hearing some of that.

SPEAKER_04

Um well I I think it's a big middle finger to all of those Dave Roberts haters. And and you know uh Dave Roberts uh is a great manager. Sure, not everything works out that that he he does, but that's just the way things go. It's baseball. All of us have made choices that didn't work out. So, you know, it that's that's just life, and we just get over it. Uh, but I big congratulations to Dave Roberts. Um you can you can say, well, he had a uh a lot of stars behind him. He had like uh an MVP or an all-star game's worth of uh of players on his team to help him along uh to accomplish that feat. But you know, I think you got to give Dave Roberts a lot a lot of credit uh because he still has to to uh make the lineup to make the moves. And so yeah, congratulations, Dave.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, no, and to your point, there's I don't know if anybody, if any of you out there, right, have ever managed a group of people either at work or you know, even on a on a team, right? But it's it's not easy, it's not an easy thing to do. You're managing a bunch of different personalities, there's a lot of different egos. Um, you know, and for him to do this at such a high level for you know such a long time, it's it's it I'm I'm very happy for him. Um, I'm very happy for him. I think that he it's well deserved, and I, you know, I I really hope that we can have him, you know, on our team for as long as as long as humanly possible. I mean, I'm I'm really happy with Dave.

SPEAKER_04

What do you think, Priscilla?

SPEAKER_03

I love it. I'm not gonna lie, as a as a diehard Dodger fan, we've all had those moments where we're like, Doc, what are you doing? You know, as far as you know, even with Don Mattingly, there was there was times where I'm like, what are you doing? Um he shut me up and he said this is what I'm doing. I'm getting back-to-back World Series championships three out of five in the last five. So sit back and just enjoy your dodgers. And I said, All right. So yeah, no, absolutely. Congrats to him. And uh sometimes this is this is why you have to have faith. Like you have to just sit back and know what he's doing. Um, just yesterday. I mean, he called the bullpen game. He's getting us, you know, that reset for for the Padre series uh starting today. So it's one of those things where it's like, yeah, we know the bullpen's not gonna do the greatest or might not do the greatest. Uh, but again, he knows what he's doing. So yeah. That's all. Congrats, Dave.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. Um he did this, what he it's a thousand wins, six hundred and six losses, uh, fastest in MLB history. Um, yeah, you know, uh, I agree. You know, and one of the things that I've heard, at least behind the scenes, you know, in that locker room, um, is that the the aura that Dave puts out is infectious, right? The fact that he's been able to get this team, you know, from top to bottom to buy into, you know, the vision, right? Because there's there's let's be honest, okay. The the Dodgers are are a really good team, but they're a really good team who is selfless, right? And what that means is that from the from Shohei Otani, right, down to whoever it is, right? Uh who was it? Barnes, Charlie Barnes, down to Charlie Barnes, everyone's buying in to it's the next man up, right? And that is a testament of what you know Dave is doing as a manager, and just you know, the whole front office as a whole, right? The entire front office as a whole. Um, yeah, I I think it's awesome. Um, George, there there were some words that some of the players, you know, said about Dave when he accomplished this. You know, a lot of people spoke, including, I think it was Freddie. Um, one that stood out to me particularly was Mookie when he came out and said that, hey, um, you know, Dave is like his baseball dad, right? Um, and that he would want Dave to manage for the rest of his career, right? Now, Dave did say that he doesn't see himself managing for 20 years, right? Where does that put Dave if he were to coach the Dodgers, right? If he were to be the Dodgers manager for the rest of Mookie's career, do you any idea there?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, um I think he could definitely coach for that. What's that till 2032? I think it is. Um, I don't see why Dave couldn't. Again, it's gonna come down to what he wants to do as well, because to be honest, like if he gives us a 3P, and like he's already achieved enough as it is, but if he gives us a 3P, I can't really blame him if he doesn't want to do much more than that. To be honest, I would not be disappointed if he wanted to retire or you know, or whatever. Um, but he definitely I think is capable of coaching until then. But like you mentioned, it's not easy. You've got to kind of speak, he would have come across probably close to a thousand players in his time, and you've got to speak a thousand different types of English to those players, and obviously there's other languages involved too, so it's not easy to manage. Um, but yeah, it's a good question. I don't know how long he'll go for per se. Um, but if we could see out Mookie's career, that would be awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, I agree. Uh, the longer we can have keep Dave around, the better, right? Give give him a lifetime contract, you know, bring him out in the wheelchair. Uh no, I'm kidding. Um, no, but yeah, I think that we we can all agree that Dave's done a great job with his team. Uh, and we're, you know, I'm grateful. Um, I know uh Doug McCain the other day was uh thanking the San Diego Padres for not uh giving them that managerial opportunity that he uh you know now, you know, hindsight definitely should have gotten from the bit from the beginning or should have been considered. But hey, you know, just like a lot of other things that or players that the Dodgers have gone out to get, they fall fell right into their lap, right? Happened with Mookie, it happened with Freddie. Uh it really happened with Freddie. That was that was out of left field, right? Yeah, um. So yeah, um something something that we as fans are grateful to, you know, be we're lucky enough to have uh a manager like Dave, right? Um, but Mookie's message, Mookie's message has uh said a lot about the relationship that Dave Roberts has built with this with the players. Um Mookie, but Mookie is also giving you know us Dodger fans a reason to you know a reason to talk to talk about him, right? Another reason to talk about. Um he's been on a tear recently, right? Um, who was the one? Uh was it Priscilla that you wanted to see something out of Mookie last week? I can't remember.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know if I called Mookie.

SPEAKER_01

Who was it? I think it was Mookie.

SPEAKER_04

You did call Mookie, it was Bobby. Yeah, I I called Mookie. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And uh that I want to see, of course. I would want to see something from all our players, but uh if you're asking about like calling your shot, it wasn't it was Mookie.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, so Mookie has been uh has been great uh of late, right? Um he recently, when was it yesterday? He uh was not in the lineup due to uh wrist soreness, I want to say. Um he's expected to be in the lineup today. Anyone know if that's uh if he's in there? He's in. He is in? Yeah. Nice. Good that's good to hear because there's uh there were some out there speculating, right, that um this might have been something different. But um, you know, what do you what do you guys make of him sitting it out? Is it you know, is it more of hey, we're just kind of gonna do what we can with the players that we have for the last game of the A series, or was it something else?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Just gonna say, I I think they were happy to just concede that game, it looked like. Which I don't really blame them. Got a big series this weekend. Um not gonna lie, I think deep down they were thinking we've got four games against you know one of our rivals. Let's try and sweep them here. This game, just make sure everyone's right for the next one. So I don't have an issue with it. It's one like it's one game out of 162. It's you know, you're gonna have a game where you rest a player if they're maybe a little bit questionable. So I got no issue with it.

SPEAKER_01

So, Bobby, is is Mookie back? And I I'll I'll ask this question with a little bit of context, right? In the last seven games, Mookie is 13 for 32, he's got a 406 batting average, 424 on base percentage, 750 slug, three home runs, nine RBIs, and only three strikeouts. Is Mookie back?

SPEAKER_04

I I hope so. Uh, I don't think he did a whole lot in yesterday's game, but you know, we all have a bad game now and then. So I really hope that he is back uh for the team's sake because we really need him. Um and yeah, we'll we'll see. Uh hopefully he has a good game tonight against the Padres, or as I like to say, the Pudres. Uh by the way, does it was anyone just loving that game last was that last night where the Cubs beat them 23 to 3 or something like that? That was awesome. Today or yet yesterday? No, that was that was yesterday, I guess. Yeah, uh things got so bad that they sent a slow-pitched softball pitcher up for the Padres to just lob balls to the Cubs, and Danzby Swanson hit a grand slam for his third home run of the game. That was just chef's kiss.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they're definitely not uh not on a good stretch right now. Um, but I I don't think Mookie Mook Mookie didn't play yesterday, so he sat that oh he didn't. Well, that's why he did that's why they lost. That's okay.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, geez.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I really should have paid more attention to yesterday's game, but you know, I think a lot of us felt like uh I had a feeling that it was just one of those games where you know not much was gonna happen. I didn't expect much, but um Priscilla, what do you see in Mookie? What do you you know you've you've watched, you've been watching this team all season? What have you seen, what kind of progression, right, have you seen from Mookie? Do you have has anything stood out to you in the sense of maybe his approach, right? Or did something just that him just being consistent and coming back every day and doing the work that he needs to do finally pay off?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with the second option. I think that him coming in, putting in the work, and and just trying to get himself back to where he once was, is finally paying off. When you go from being the Mookie Beds on the Dodgers to then bringing in Shohei Otani, it's gonna do something to you as the star player, you know? And and that's gonna get to you, in addition to everything that he has endured, you know, with losing his um his stepdad, which he refers to as his dad, so I obviously want to respect that. Um when you put in all those dynamics and see that like you know, Mookie Bats is going down or he had a moment, um I think his buyers are just coming back. I think he's getting back into the swing literally of things and he's he's just rolling with it. Um, you could see that there was some frustration. I know, I think it was um was it last year that he had that 0122 and then he snapped it with the double, everybody went crazy, you know. I think that he's just feeding off of that. He knows who he is and he knows the type of player that he is, and and we as fans don't lose faith in him. Uh, when he was dealing with the dynamics of his family, you know, he got a very warm welcome. And I think that that's what us fans have the power to do. Um, so I think that it helps him be confident, and you know, that's why he's getting back to where he's at, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, agreed. I agree. Um, you know, Mookie's not the only Dodger who um Dodger hitter that's trending in the right direction, you know. Priscilla, your your favorite Tommy tanks has returned from the injured list and he's been scorching hot.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Um you did.

SPEAKER_01

Um, what have you guys seen from Tommy? And you know, I know we asked this question last week. Is it sustainable, right? I mean, the guy's still doing it, he hit his first homer. He did he's not known to hit for a ton of power, although, you know, he got the nickname Tommy Tanks for a reason. Um, but you know, for me, the most impressive thing about Tommy Edmond is the consistent at-bats, right? The timely hits. Um, you know, that is something that in years past, and even, you know, for a short stretch this year, the Dodgers lacked.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I I'm hoping Tommy Edmonds can stay healthy so he can keep on this this hot streak. Um so yeah, and uh I what whatever he he worked on uh during his rehab, oh my gosh, just keep keep keep work keep doing that, man. Because like I mean, he hit that home run uh uh the other day for it was 428 feet. His uh uh I believe it was his longest or second longest of his career. So yeah, I just it it it left a little dent in the uh in the batter's eye there at uh Sutter Field. So uh yeah, uh I it it's just great to see. And uh yeah, I hope he can keep it up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. Um, his what is it? Last seven games, eight for twenty four, three thirty-three batting average, uh 429 on base, five eighty-three slug. Um, his the game on Tuesday was a really good game for him. He went four for five and hit that first homer of the season, right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, four for five. Wow.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so he had a great game. Um, you know, the other one that's really turned it around as of late um is Kyle Tucker. George for Kyle, you know, I I look, I'm gonna admit it, I'm I'm not a very big Kyle Tucker believer. Um, not this year. I feel that he, you know, if he does figure it out, or if he does turn it around, it's gonna be post-all-star break, obviously, more on the tail end of the second half. Uh I'm hoping, right? That's my hope is that he'll figure it out just in time for October. But, you know, I honestly I feel like this is just one of those years for you know for Tucker. Um, you know, what do you see in Kyle? And you know, do you I guess do you agree with my take?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I do agree. I think it's one of those years where or he's just in that sort of form where he just has to keep showing up. Um, and obviously, look, it paid off last weekend in San Diego, which was great. I I got up and screamed for that because I was happy for him. Like, I feel like he did that was coming, he deserved that. I've like I'm hopeful he will turn it around. We've seen what he can do. I know he's a guy that doesn't show any emotion, so I don't know whether maybe he needs to just maybe the team needs to fire him up a bit. Um, because yeah, you don't see much come out of him. He's very like you know, pretty flat-faced a lot of the time. So, but yeah, look, I'm hopeful he can. It may just have to be one of those years that he kind of just needs to concede a little bit. But I'm hoping, but there's still, like you said, half a year to go. So if he if he heats up at the right time, and hey, if he does something in October, I think we'll forget about it pretty quickly.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. That's a sharp hat, too, by the way, George. Uh, I I I gotta give you props for that. Where did you get that hat, man?

SPEAKER_00

Uh Christmas present from my girlfriend. I think it was from it's actually from here in Australia, Footlocker. I think had it. Nice online. Yeah, yeah. So they had this and they had an inverse version, so a blue with the white 17 as well.

SPEAKER_04

Nice. Yeah, that's another reason to watch the the podcast on YouTube because then you get to see uh our our our our our sparkling hat game here, our our hat swag.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and then brand new background there. I like it. There you go. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Am I the only one that yeah, I mean, I just got my regular wall here. So yeah. Oh well. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

You got a bunch of cool stuff. What do you have back there? What is that?

SPEAKER_04

Uh so I got my uh I got me in uh center field at Dodger Stadium uh with Max Muncie's bet that he used to hit the uh game-winning home run in the 2018 World Series, and then I got my uh let me see, let me grab my camera here. Oh no, I won't stretch that far. Anyway, so I got my uh uh commemorative coins from the 2025 world champion uh chip there. Nice uh it's uh limited edition, numbered 760 out of a thousand. So yeah, and then my wooden Dodger Stadium thing here that uh uh an ex-wife gave me for a Christmas present, and then me with uh the bulldog here or old Herschiser.

SPEAKER_01

Nice.

SPEAKER_04

There you go. Oh yeah, yeah. So yeah, that was actually a really cool story. I I went to my first Dodger game in 28 years and uh thinking I was gonna meet No Margaret Park because he always does the Dodger games or the pregame shows. So Uh when I got there, uh I I went up to uh I can't remember his name, uh the other guy that does the uh the pregame show, and I said, uh is Nomar gonna be here, and he goes, No, but uh Orl's gonna be here. And I'm like, Orl's gonna be there. So uh uh I I waited around and sure enough, there there was the man. And and uh I I he saw that I had uh my own Dodger Jersey with his 55 on it, and uh I told him, I said, I flew from Idaho just to see you, Orl. And he said, Well, you want a picture? And I tell you what, as soon as as soon as he said that, I moved the the the the PVC pipes that the little barrier uh there uh uh that keep the people uh away from the stage there, and I just moved it and I went up right up to the stage and got my picture taken with them.

SPEAKER_01

That's yeah, uh those are always cool memories, right? Of when uh you know going to Dodger Stadium and you know having those experiences is something that you know as fans, it's uh the fact that some of these you know personalities um take the time to do things like that for us. It's um I think it makes a ton of difference, especially for the kids, right?

SPEAKER_04

Um I'm a big kid too, so um yeah, and and and the the really cool thing is that the last year I went to Dodger Stadium, I I got my picture with Nomar, and I used in fact that's my other uh uh wallpaper for my second uh computer computer. That was good, computer monitor. Oh my gosh. Uh it's it's for the week, people. It has been a week, but I'm here, thank goodness.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know, who else has had a week is uh Dalton Rushing, who's you know, for some reason, you know, he has little spurts of life, um, but then goes back to his his same old ways, right? He strikes out a lot. I think that's my biggest concern for him is I see him strike out too much. Um, it's almost like he's not patient. Um, but you know, Dalton has been, what does he have, a 170 batting average in the last 15 games? Um, but what are we gonna do, right? What what's what's the answer here? Or do we just need to keep you know being patient and not sell our Dalton rushing stock?

SPEAKER_04

Oh wow. Oh well, see, did I hear news that we will not get Will Smith back until after the all-store break, or was that the the big news you were gonna know? Yeah, I I don't think I don't know if we have any other choice but to be patient with him. Uh yeah. Um yeah, I he h hopefully we just uh we we continue to to get him uh the help he needs with uh counseling or uh the the the mental health counseling that the the uh Dodgers provide and uh get him to uh uh calm his mind and uh get him back to uh uh being a uh a good player, uh a potentially great player that uh he can be.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he actually um did some community work today. I think he was out reading some books to to kids out there, which is awesome.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, um yeah and did you notice he knit he didn't snap any of the books over his knee, so that was plus.

SPEAKER_01

That was a plus. Yeah, he got through that one, right? Um but you know, honestly, I um I hope I hope he can turn it around. Yeah. Um, you know, I guess we'll touch on a little bit on Will Smith. We'll get into it a little bit more a little later in the show, but Will is not expected to be back um before the all-star break. Um I don't know. Um Dalton is just gonna have to, you know, I guess take one for the team and do his best to control those emotions and try and figure it out, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think that um post everything that's happened since the incident where Shohei was pitching or the multiple incidences where Shohei was pitching, I think that he might have taken a step back and realized that this is what the reactions of the fans and the other players and the coaches and everybody who does want to see him succeed, like these are their reactions, and he's probably taking it in. Um, obviously, we have to give it time to see if that's the case, um, because there are still moments where you could see that frustration. But as long as he's working on it and and reaching out and using those resources that are present to him, I don't see him being a huge liability. I I see him actually getting better with that patience, and and hopefully that's what we get out of him. Because again, like we've established Will Smith is not gonna come back anytime soon. So he he's the person that we're relying on. So we're rooting for him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, you know, um, yes, I I agree with that. Um I think that rushing um is still young, obviously, like we've mentioned before, but I think that as time goes on, uh it he'll he'll figure it out. He seems to have that, you know, that dog in him where he is just coming back for more, right? He's not giving up. Um, and he's trying that most of all, he's putting in the work. So I think that speaks volumes of him. Um, another guy who's been putting in the work and uh has gained my trust and climbed the trust tree pretty far up is Justin Robleski. Um Robo just came off, uh is just fresh off his probably the one of the best outings that he's had this year, uh, with a career high 11Ks. Um guys, this it is is Roblesky. I know George, you you said that he has at this point has earned an opportunity in the postseason, right? Do you stand by that? And do you, I mean, what do you think? Do you think the Dodgers are gonna, you know, are gonna consider him in a post postseason role?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, I think right now, I don't think you can say he he shouldn't be in the playoff rotation. Like he's shown enough so far. Now, obviously, it's gonna depend on Blake Snell, Tyler Glasno, see how well they can come back. Um, I know Snell's not too far out, so I think well, obviously Otani and Yamamoto, you're gonna have to be there in the starting rotation. That's our one-two. Sasaki again, not sure depend how he goes. It's gonna be a tough decision, but right now I would have to put him in there. I'd kind of hurts me to say, but I'd have to put him in there over Sasaki right now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I would agree with that, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Definitely, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh I I would, you know, I've it's I'm curious to see how Roki is today um for this opening series against uh San Diego. Um, I think this is a good opportunity for him to for him to show you know some length and really keep those earned runs under control. Um, but I agree with you. Uh, if you give me a pick between Roki and Robleski today, I'm 100% going with Robleski, right? I mean, the guy has a 280 ERA on the season, he's 10 and 2, right? Um, he should be an all-star. Um, that's my that I I there's look, he should be a starter in the all-star. Yeah, right. Um, but yeah, he's earned he's earned that. And uh what is what is that what is that, I guess what who can we thank for that, right? I don't know. Uh he did say that he got very close with Kershaw last year. Um, I've seen certain things from Roblesky that remind me of Kershaw, right? Because Kershaw didn't always have his his best stuff late in his career. And despite that, and despite him getting traffic on the bases, he always found a way, right? He always found the way. And uh Robleski seems to have that same makeup, right? Um, but is is is Roblesky someone that we would consider over a Tyler Glasnow. Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I would say yes. Um Robleski is doing what he's supposed to do, and Glasnou has just been out, and it's one of those where it's like you gotta walk on eggshells with him sometimes. It's unfortunate, you know, he's amazing at what he does when he's up there and doing his thing and putting up his numbers and striking people out. Like that's that's the guy. But right now that's what Robleski's doing. So absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

I even thought of maybe calling uh Tyler Glass now Tyler Glass Jaw because oh my gosh, Tyler Glass man. Glass man, yeah, because uh yeah, he's so fragile. And yeah, I feel bad for the guy because he's he I'm sure he's the most frustrated about it. And uh yeah, when when he couldn't uh uh pitch in the in the postseason uh a few years back, oh yeah, you could just see it in his face. And I yeah, I my heart just goes out to him because uh yeah, it it's gotta be really frustrating when when you can't be there for your team.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, agreed. Um, you know, for me, um Robleski definitely has earned a spot in this rotation now. If the opportunity presents itself, right, and let's just say Tyler Glasnow is not coming back this year. Um would we would I want to go after a starting pitcher in the likes of a Tariq Scuble? Um I would say Yes. I would definitely go out and get Scuble. Um now, despite of, you know, he's obviously he's just coming back from that, you know, elbow surgery. Uh he hasn't been at his at his best. I would definitely go get him if Glasnow is not coming back. Now, if Glasnow comes back, I don't think we need him. Um, would we like him? I think we can all agree we would like uh Scooby. But you know, the Dodgers recently came out and said that they're that you know going out and getting a starting pitcher is not their priority. Their priority is depth, right? Which is, you know, in other words, going out and getting another Tommy Edmund like, right? Um I I don't know. Um Bobby, do you you know, how do you feel about maybe trading Roblesky if the time comes? Or would you rather trade an Emmett Sheehan?

SPEAKER_04

I would yeah, I would definitely would rather trade Emmett Sheehan or uh even um uh a Bobby Miller or uh um uh yeah, anybody but Roblesky because I think he's just too valuable right now. I he is he's just spin nails out there. Uh and uh yeah, I would hate to see him go to a rival. I mean, can you imagine just facing Roblesky it yeah in a in a big game? Oh my gosh, that would just be disaster for us, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, I think a lot of the concern for some of us fans, at least for you know, Robleski, I agree with you. I would not trade Roblesky. Um, I would go a different route. Um, you know, yes, you're gonna have teams knocking on your door asking uh if he's available. You know, I would trade a Shein uh if Bush comes to shove or you know, others. But yeah, I don't I don't I don't know. I don't I don't see I don't see the Dodgers trading Brobo. Um he's too valuable at this point. He has given the Dodgers valuable innings. Uh and they're not just he's not just eating innings. He's he's he's posting, he's he's putting up good numbers. So um I I don't see him going anywhere this trade deadline. Um I hope not, uh you know, but anything can happen.

SPEAKER_04

Um yeah, trade definitely trade the guy who pitched for them last night. I I think yeah, well, he he did get sent down though to the miners, so um, so but with that, um, there are some injury updates.

SPEAKER_01

We've already kind of touched on those. Um, Tyler Glass now has started throwing. Um Dodgers are being super careful with him. They're not gonna rush him back at this point. You know, he's gonna he's gonna have to go through a full ramp up. Um, he's been gone way too long. I, you know, I'm hoping that he that nothing sets him back anymore because I think at this point any other setbacks are going to result in him being out for the season. Um you know, another one that's uh looking like he's on the up and up is Edwin Diaz. Uh he's possibly will he'll possibly be facing hitters this weekend. Um but I can't wait to get Diaz back. Um I know that Tanner Scott's been good this year, but come on, guys. I mean, I want to see the guy we got, we went out and got this year. You know, I mean we've seen Kyle Tucker. Um, I want to see Diaz, you know, have his Dodger moment, right? Um, Kyle got his um kind of. Uh he had that walk-up. Um, but I I want to see Diaz back. Um, Priscilla, your take on Diaz and um, you know, what would you I guess expect to see out of him once he he's back? Do you think the Dodgers will plug him back into that closer role immediately? Or do you think that Tanner Scott's gonna keep getting some, you know, I guess some runway to take that position, at least, you know, in the beginning?

SPEAKER_03

Okay, before I answer this, has anybody been to the Dodgers stadium when the trumpets are playing and Tia's is coming out?

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_03

I was I was able to be present for that on March 27th this year for the uh for the ring ceremony. And let me tell you, the energy is tremendous. The trumpets, the the lights, him coming out, it is tremendous. So I do think that those trumpets and his energy is something that they need in that bullpen. I don't think they'll immediately take Tanner Scott out, but I do think it's something that they're gonna feed off of because we want to see him. The fans want to see him, and that stadium is epic when he comes out. So I do think that that's something that they're gonna roll with, and I'm excited to see it. So bring him back, nice.

SPEAKER_01

Was it a night game?

SPEAKER_03

It was a night game, it was it was a ring ceremony. Yeah, it was a night game, and as soon as the trumpets started playing, I'm telling you, it was like that place was like trembling. The energy, the energy was epic. I'm telling you. I cannot I can't wait to like relive it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I I I want to be out there uh doing a postseason game uh for something like that. That that must be uh you know something uh definitely once in a lifetime type of thing, right? Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

Um I'm I'm hoping to get out there uh sometime just hopefully. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that.

SPEAKER_03

I'll be there in 24 hours, so yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But another guy that's uh you know, we haven't gotten too um too much news from um out of this organization about is Will Smith. Um, they just came out and said that you know, don't expect to see Will Smith back before the All-Star Break, which I think we could all we all figured. Um they're saying that it's not anything concerning, they're sticking with that story. We've heard this song and dance before. Um I I really hope that Will Smith makes it back, but hey, uh you know, we can probably convince the Mets to trade uh Roadbett back to us um at some point if if if you need to. Um but uh George, what do you um do you do you foresee this being a long-term thing? You know, what what does your gut tell you on this whole Will Smith saga of the neck injury? And do we blame the pillow?

SPEAKER_00

I mean quite possibly. Um yeah, it's it's a hard one. I think I mean you wouldn't think he'd be out for too long with what the information we've been given. So I'm hoping after the all-star break is five. I think it's the right call because I don't think there's any point bringing him back before that. May as well just let him rest, give him the time off. Um maybe let's not vote him in just on just on purpose. So um he can just have that extra rest. So no, look, I'm hopeful he'll be back. And he produces some big moments for us late in the season, he always has, um, especially last year. So yeah, I'm confident he'll be back.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, uh, there's uh, you know, speaking on injuries and you know, players stepping up during the this time, right? We've mentioned already Dalton has been doing the best he possibly can. Um, you know, but there's there's others that have been, you know, asked to do things, and not just this year, but even last year, right? Will Klein was one of those. Um, you know, last night it was Charlie Barnes, right? Um I think we I can say that this is our official Charlie Barnes appreciation segment. Um, the guy eight innings, he came out and posted seven innings, right? Uh, seven earned runs. Obviously, not the type of results we want. Um, nevertheless, he has helped this team, you know, like Priscilla mentioned at the earlier in the in the show, there the Dodgers are set up for this stand uh series against the Padres, right? Um, very well. The they the he this guy saved the bullpen. Um But I think that with Charlie Barnes going out and doing what he did last night, it really allowed this team to have that reset that I feel that a lot of these players, you know, need um playing 162 games, right? Uh sometimes you need you know breaks like yesterday. I think Freddie got out of the game early. Um Moonkey didn't play. Um so you know it's situations like this where you know we're not trying to punt the game per se, but I think it's uh you know, even as fans, you know, we all we can all agree we've we felt this coming.

unknown

Correct.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, definitely. I um I I you know I I I have a little bitterness because I had a lot of money on the game yesterday. Um well, it started at 25 and then it built it up to 74, and then I lit it all right, and that's my fault. That's that's my bad. So yeah, I should I should have should have just stopped. I didn't know I I totally forgot yesterday was a bullpen game. So yeah, I I yeah, so that was my mistake. And uh I should have more appreciation for Charlie Barnes for for saving our bullpen. Uh but we were playing in a in a in a softball field yesterday, weren't we? I mean, holy cow, the the the home run that uh uh that uh Lang Lang Lears hit, they said that that probably wouldn't have been a home run in a lot of parks, including Yellowstone. So um I was expecting more of a laugh there. That's okay. I that's a joke from major leagues. I'm laughing, just not like ha ha ha laughing. Yeah, you know you're laughing inside. If you're on YouTube, you can see but uh yeah, I I I you know I'm just glad we're out of that field and uh we're in dark we're at back at home at at uh uh blue heaven on earth. So um I'm all ready to to beat some Padre butt today.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and you know, we're gonna uh previewing today's game, what is it uh 7-10 Pacific start. Looks like we have Roki on the mound and Randy Vasquez for the Padres. Dodger starting lineup is looking like, you know, I mean, it looks good to me. Otani Pachas, uh, Freeman Betts, Muncie, Tucker, Hernandez, Rushing, and Edmund. Um I see no reason why we wouldn't take this game. Look, little brother, um, it is what it is. You might get swept. Um, I don't want to be the one that jinxed this series, but look, I feel good about you know our chances. We've got Roki and then probables, you know, for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are, if I'm not mistaken, it's Otani, um, Yamamoto, and Emmet Shin, right? Um, I don't know. I mean, what else? What else do we have to say about that? You know, it's the Dodgers are 56 and 31 with the best record in MLB right now. Despite all that, we're not at 100%. So I really like our chances. Um, what would you guys like to see um out of the Dodgers early in this game, at least, or even just in this first in this game one of this four-game series?

SPEAKER_04

Well, first of all, I would like to see an earlier start time because we go from 7:40 to 8.10. And for uh for uh Robert and me who live in Idaho, uh the game doesn't get over until like 10:30, 11 o'clock sometimes. And uh yeah, I well think thankfully I don't have to work. I I have a four-day weekend, I don't go back to work until Monday, so I'm good. I can I can I can yeah, I don't have a curfew, thankfully. So yeah, I'm good, but I just don't know why they you you you play in Northern California at 7.40 and then you go to LA and play at 8.10. I I don't get why we why they do that. It would like it would be nice to start at 30 minutes earlier, but um, as far as what I uh what else I would like to see, um I'd like to see Shoey start off hot. Uh I know he had a really rough game yesterday, his uh consecutive uh on base, uh or yeah, what was that consecutive uh games on base? Uh his streak got snapped last night. And uh I'd like to see him kind of start off hot, maybe hit a hit a uh lead off home run. I guess I'm calling my shot lead-off home run for show hate tonight. Um and uh I'd like to see more from Kyle Tucker. Absolutely, I would.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um Roky has been uh you know pretty good of late. Um I would like to see Roke build off of you know the little momentum he's been able to get. He's been pretty solid. Um, I'd like to see, you know, two or less earned runs out of Roky today. Um none would be ideal, but yeah, it's for me today is all about Roky. Um, I'm gonna be you know watching to see what's going on with him. Um there's uh have you guys seen anything about him crying? What is that?

SPEAKER_03

At the beginning, what moment was it that he that he had where he did go back into the dugout crying? Um this was before, so in his last in his last um appearance, it appeared as if he was crying. So he had to come out and say, I was not crying. Like I was obviously frustrated and you know, he had his his moment obviously of frustration. Um, you know, no no picture wants to take a loss. Um but no, that that's all it was. He was just clarifying, like, no, I wasn't in the dugout crying again. And no, he wasn't. You could just I mean, you can get into the ins and outs of like appearance or whatever, but he wasn't crying, leave him alone.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. Um, you know, uh for me, the the also the offense, right? George, I don't know. Do you you know what do you feel how do you feel about this? I would like to see the offense get into the bullpen earlier. Um, make the starting pitcher work, make Vasquez work, get into the bullpen early, and make them use their high-leverage weapons that they have in that. Because look, uh say what you want about the Padres. They they have they have a they have a really good bullpen. Um, and so you know, getting into that and making them work today on game one and still taking the the game, I think it would be huge and would be a great way to set up the rest of the series.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, absolutely. I think look, our offense can definitely get to them. They have before they got to Michael King the other day, and uh, I think it was the fifth inning. So, and he's probably been their best starter, so there's no reason why the offense can't get to them early. Um, we did the same back in 2024. Um, I know that was part of the plan because we didn't have much starting pitching in that series, but it can be it's the offense that can definitely get to their pitches, and their bullpen is very good, I agree. So we don't want to give them a light amount of work because that's their strength in that bullpen. Having said that, though, if there's a team that can get to someone like Mason Miller, it's us. We saw that with Andy Pyers battling against him, which is probably one of the best at bats I've seen, to be honest. Um, so yeah, I think but you're right. We should hopefully get a jump early and make them use the bullpen longer. Um, so that we can hopefully tire out some arms. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And give Roki some run support, please.

SPEAKER_03

This kid needs to be what I was gonna say. Absolutely. Give them some run support and then capitalize off of the fact that they are coming in defeated. When you are backing stock of the MLB because you lost by 20 runs, the Dodgers need to absolutely capitalize on that. Whether the game is mental, strategic, tactical, whatever, however you want to call it, they need to go in and hit it out and give uh rookie more than anything that run support. But we can do it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. So yeah, in fact, I think I yeah, I had that little clip queued up on my phone.

SPEAKER_01

Uh yeah, you know, the Dodgers definitely have the upper hand here. They have a rested bullpen. Excuse me. Um, you know, they definitely have the hotter offense and home field advantage, right? Um, but it's that time now. It's that time to call your shot. It's time to call your shot. Um, let's go around the room here. Let's start with Bobby since you already called yours. What what was what's your called shot for today's game?

SPEAKER_04

Uh yeah, I said lead-off home run for Shohei, and uh I'd like to see Kyle Tucker snap uh snap out of his little slump or and uh get a home run or at least uh a two for four uh three for four game would be nice. Nice, nice Priscilla.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna go with Freeman. Freeman has been hot lately, and I don't I don't feel like we've given him the uh the the spotlight, but uh he definitely deserves it. He's he's been going in and and definitely getting on base, getting those hits, uh that average going up, and uh he's on fire, so I want him to keep doing that. I think that he he's gonna go go today.

SPEAKER_01

Nice going with the Mr. Consistent is what I like to call Freddie.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, we love consistency.

SPEAKER_01

Love it. Uh George, what's your called shot for today?

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna go Max Muncie. I put that on my Instagram, so I'm gonna stick with that. I think Mad Max is another one like Freddie, probably doesn't get enough credit at times, kind of flies under the radar a little bit. So I'm gonna go Max. I reckon he's gonna line one up.

SPEAKER_01

Nice. Uh, I'm gonna go with Mookie. Um, I I think he's gonna keep it going. He's at home. Um, you know, all good vibes with him. I'm gonna go with a Mookie Homer tonight. Um, I don't know if it's gonna be early or late in the game. I I think he'll get it done.
