The IBS Solution with Brooke Kane
If you have chronic diarrhea that won't stop no matter what you eat, you're in the right place.
This Podcast is for women who have been told their IBS is something they just have to manage, who have done the colonoscopies, the low FODMAP diet, the probiotics, and still run to the bathroom every day.
Brooke Kane is a registered nurse and functional medicine practitioner who has helped over 500 women find the actual root cause of their urgent diarrhea and get rid of it. Not manage it. Get rid of it.
On this Podcast you will learn why your tests keep coming back normal, why food is not the problem, and what advanced testing actually shows when someone finally looks in the right place. Real cases. Real answers. No more guessing.

Here is what separates the women who heal from the ones who stay stuck. It is not the severity of your symptoms. It is whether you are actually ready to do something different.
I saw three GI doctors for my own severe IBS before I fixed it myself. Every one ran the same tests, got the same normal results, and said the same thing: just manage it. I stopped asking and started studying. Fixed my own gut, then helped over 500 others. Everything I'm about to share comes from living both sides of this.
In this episode, I'm going to walk you through the three things I look for in every woman before we start working together, and two patient stories that show what becomes possible when all three are true.

❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Q: Why does chronic diarrhea keep coming back even after seeing multiple GI doctors?
A: Conventional medicine is built to manage symptoms, not find what is causing them. Standard GI testing rules out cancer, bleeding, and common infections. It does not map the full gut environment, including harmful bacteria, parasites, yeast, or depleted beneficial strains that are often driving chronic diarrhea. Until those are found and cleared, symptoms return because the actual cause was never addressed. (1:43)
Q: What kind of testing does functional medicine use that standard GI testing misses?
A: Advanced functional stool testing maps the full gut environment, including specific harmful bacterial species known to drive inflammation, parasites, yeast, short-chain fatty acid levels, and missing beneficial strains. These findings explain years of urgency and loose stool that kept coming back as normal on every standard panel. They require different tests, not different symptoms. (2:59)
Q: What kind of women get the best results working with Brooke Kane?
A: Not necessarily the ones with the mildest symptoms. The women who do best are the ones who have accepted that conventional medicine has taken them as far as it can, are ready to commit to one plan all the way through, and can handle a rough patch without deciding it means something failed. That last part trips up a lot of motivated women because nobody warned them what real healing actually feels like. (6:12)

Here's what separates the women who do really well working with me from the ones who don't. I treat a lot of different diagnoses, IBS, Crohn's, colitis, and a lot of women who have never gotten a diagnosis at all, just years of chronic diarrhea that no one could explain. So this isn't about whether I can help you in almost every case I can. This is about whether you're actually ready to heal your gut. I saw three different GI doctors before I ever fixed my own gut. Three. Everyone ran the same tests, came back normal, and all of them told me the same thing. It's IBS, you can't get rid of it, you just have to manage it. I sat with that for a while, just manage it. Like my gut just decided to turn on me one day for no reason, and there was no going back to normal. That didn't sit right with me, so I stopped asking them for help and I started studying it myself. I went back to school for it, fixed myself before I ever helped anyone else. I'm telling you that because everything I'm about to say comes from having lived both sides of this. The side where you keep hoping that the next doctor has the answer, and the side where you finally stop waiting. The first thing that I look for is this. Are you still hoping that your current doctor is going to be the one who fixes this? I'm not saying that to be harsh. Hope isn't a bad thing. It's actually a really human thing to hold on to, especially when you've been dealing with this for years and you're exhausted. But here's the problem with it. As long as you're still hoping conventional medicine is going to solve this, you'll keep going back. And every time you go back, you lose more time waiting to see what they say next. So I'll ask women directly, if you keep going back to your GI doctor for another year, do you honestly believe that they're going to be the one to fix this? Because conventional medicine was never built to fix this kind of thing for good. At best, they just help you manage your symptoms so that you keep coming back for more prescriptions. The second thing, are you looking for me to work alongside your current doctor, or are you ready to follow one plan all the way through? I get why this one is tempting. Your doctor's been with you a while. Maybe you like him, maybe it feels safer to keep him in the loop. But here's what actually happens: picture two people in the front seat of your car, both are giving you directions at the same time, and they don't agree. You're not gonna get anywhere. You're just going to sit in the intersection while the clock runs. I've watched this play out the same way more than once. A woman starts feeling a little rough a few weeks in, which is actually pretty normal. Your body's clearing things out as it heals. She gets nervous and calls her doctor. The doctor tells her to stop taking the supplements. So she does. A few weeks later, she's back to square one. And now she's more discouraged than when she started because two people were steering and neither one of us actually got to drive. So to be clear, I'm not telling you to fire your doctor. You can keep your colonoscopy, you can keep your yearly checkup if that's what you want. I just need to be the only one steering the actual plan because he's already told you by the fact that you're still sick that there's nothing more that he can do for this. Let's talk about a former client of mine, Karen. Karen had severe loose stool, so urgent that she kept a bucket in her car at all times because she couldn't even make it out of the car in time to go. Severe cramping, multiple autoimmune diseases, she was losing a lot of weight, and her doctor was stomped and didn't know what else to do for her. We ended up finding parasites, multiple harmful bacteria, yeast. Some of these bacteria were known autoimmune triggers. We got to work cleaning things up, rebuilding, created a healthier environment in there, and her stool started to form. Her lupus subsided, she started having more energy, she could eat without running to the bathroom. She showed her test results to her doctor, told him how great she was feeling, and he was really intrigued. He had wanted to help her all this time, but he wasn't familiar with this type of testing and wasn't familiar with what any of those results actually meant. The third thing, can you handle a rough patch without deciding that it means something failed? This one trips up a lot of really motivated, really good women because nobody warned them what healing actually feels like sometimes. It's not always smooth. Sometimes you feel a little worse for a little bit of a stretch before things turn around because your body's clearing out things it's been holding on to for years. If nobody tells you that ahead of time, it's easy to panic and assume that things aren't working right at the exact moment that it's actually starting to. So let's talk about a specific client of mine. We'll call her Judy. Judy was told that she had Crohn's for years. She took steroids, told she could try some other prescriptions if she wanted, but didn't really get any answers beyond that. When a GI doctor tells you that you have IBS or Crohn's, they say it like it's a life sentence and there's no way you can get rid of it. But that's because they don't know how to get rid of it. Judy wasn't getting any better and was at a point where she really couldn't eat anything without severe urgency accidents, watery stool, cramping. We did some pretty advanced testing on her and found exactly what had been causing all of that inflammation and irritation for all those years. For her, it was overgrowths of three different harmful bacteria: enterococcus, enterobacter, and fusobacterium. Fusobacteria, especially, is known for releasing a lot of LPSs, which are endotoxins that are super inflammatory. She was also missing some things like fatty acids, beneficial strains of bacteria that are supposed to help fight inflammation. So it was a recipe for dysfunction in there. We did some cleanup, some rebuilding, it took some work, but now she's having no more loose stools, bowel movements are formed, like one or two of them a day. She can eat a lot more foods than what she could eat before. She started putting weight back on, which is what she wanted. She took her results to her doctor as well, told him how great she was feeling. He said he had never heard of a test like that and also didn't know what any of it meant. Because this isn't stuff that's taught in Western medicine, unfortunately. But let me be real, Judy didn't have an easy time healing her gut. It took some resilience and patience for us to calm things down in there and rebuild. She did have a little bit of a rough patch there for a couple weeks that might have made some people want to give up, but she didn't. She stuck with it and she made it to the other side and now she feels great. The women I work with aren't necessarily the ones with the mildest symptoms. They're the ones who have made peace with the fact that their old doctor isn't going to be the one who gets them there, who are ready to follow one plan instead of two, and they know that healing is going to have some bumps in it, and they're ready to see the entire healing process all the way through. So before our call, just sit with that question for a second. If you kept doing what you're doing now for another year, do you believe it's going to get you there? If you're not sure yet, that's okay, there's no rush. But if you see the dead end that is conventional medicine and you're ready to stop managing this and fix your gut for good, we would love to talk to you.
