The ancient Greeks had a word for the journey of descending into the unknown with intention — and returning changed by what they found there:
ka · TA · ba · sis.
It was a deliberate choice to go deeper when nothing on the surface was working anymore.
3½ years ago I had a nervous breakdown; CPTSD had been building for years, and when it broke the surface, 4 of my 6 kids chose to estrange themselves from me. Now our 30-year marriage is looking like it’s ending in divorce.
I have not found clarity or peace in my grief and suffering.
So I’m doing what the ancients did. I’m going in with intention.
This podcast documents my ketamine-assisted therapy experience at the Within Center at AWKN Ranch in Austin — a first-person account of going deeper when nothing else has worked.

I just walked out of a sound bath and I’m still buzzing. Music, scented mist, an awesome waterfall sound. In this episode I’m processing it in real time, and asking the question that wouldn’t leave me alone: why don’t more people get access to healing like this? This kind of restoration shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for the few.

You could do this for the world. Oh, I wouldn't think you were a little bit more than a lot of people. I was thinking about all the people in the world. I never did think. And I was thinking that was a part of cool like a outdoor thing for like a whole random range and just like why do we not do this? Like why?

SPEAKER_00I feel like it really is. Do you love it? So different than Jerry's. No. Yeah, everybody has their different styles, but I mean the water. What were you throwing on us? What is that? But what is it? Flowers? I mean to put it in there.
SPEAKER_01Um, and what is that thing over there sound like?
SPEAKER_00I was trying to figure it out. Um you didn't have the I don't think she had them. I don't know if you had the money. And then where did the lamp come from? It's like it happens to be on the lump or something like it's a little bit.
