MARK CHAPTER 14 — THE PASSOVER LAMB

There are chapters in Scripture that you read…

and then there are chapters that you discover.

Mark chapter 14 is one of those chapters.

Because when you slow down and start connecting the dots, you begin to see that the details aren't there by accident.

A man carrying a water pot.

A furnished room.

A Passover meal.

A garden.

A kiss.

A fire.

Blood.

A Shepherd who is about to be smitten…

and sheep who are about to scatter.

But there's something much deeper happening here.

Jesus isn't simply approaching His death.

He's approaching the fulfillment of the Passover.

The very men who come into the garden to seize Him—the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes—don't realize what they're doing.

They're coming to select the Lamb.

And the Lamb is standing right in front of them.

Then Jesus goes into the garden and prays.

And the Scripture gives us this incredible picture of blood.

The Good Shepherd is about to be smitten.

The sheep will scatter.

But He already knows where He's going to meet them again.

Galilee.

And then there's that fire surrounding Peter.

That little detail that can be so easy to read right past.

But when you look at the Greek word anthrakia—that coal fire—and begin connecting it with what Scripture has already taught us about sacrifice, fellowship, restoration, and the peace offering…

suddenly that fire isn't just a fire.

The pieces start coming together.

The scarlet thread gets tighter.

And what we discover in Mark chapter 14 is that Christ is at the door.

The Passover Lamb has arrived.

I'm really excited for 14 as well. Did you learn anything from 13? You know, I learned that we need to just, you know, stay awake, be woke, watch out, you know, starts out, just pay attention.

I liked how you walked us through the seals, right alongside with the with the word of God.

Yeah, I learned that many years ago. I still stand in awe that you can go through that chapter of Mark, and you can go through Matthew 24, and you can just put them right side by side with the seals and revelation, and they go one at a time all the way through. Yeah, you can go into some depth too in the Old Testament with that and just start unraveling it. But you don't need no fancy books and teachings and doctor this or that. I mean, Jesus laid it right out for us. That's right. I mean, pretty plain and and they're unmistakable. Once you start seeing them and start going through them.

Did you uh did you pay attention to anybody else that was teaching around you to see if they were, you know, had the spirit of Antichrist? That's what I did.

There there's plenty of things out there that that move your eyes off of Christ. And and sadly to say, a lot of it's in the church. Yeah. A lot of deception out there. Well, we've been taught that that's how it's gonna be. So well, we're told not to be sleepy. Yeah. Is there anything we can use from 13 that gives us a deeper study of 14?

Well, I mean, I I think that, you know, he's been telling us all along the way that he's gonna he's gonna be he's gonna suffer, he's gonna be rejected, he's gonna be all these things are gonna transpire. The prophets taught it, and they desired to even look on these things, to to figure out these things and see them in person. And we're getting an opportunity to do that. I think that the transition, uh, which I already mentioned, kind of from 13 to 14 for me, is just stay and watch. You know, keep in watch. And uh you're we're gonna see that in the garden. One of the things that I think that we should probably pay attention to, and I figure we'll we'll talk about it when we get there, but it's like Christ is saying he doesn't even, the son doesn't even know when these things are about to transpire. So what watch in the garden, right? So when we get to the garden and and that uh conversation that he has with his disciples, it's more important than what's just on the surface.

Yeah, it's a good good point. He knows it's gonna happen, and he tells them it's gonna happen, and he tells them to keep their eyes open.

For all he knew at that point, that could have been the end. Everything that was just talked about in 13, that could have came about. Because all those things were already transpiring. There's already falseness to his teachings. They are already claiming him to be of Beelzebub. There are all those things that that he basically pointed out in 13 was already transpiring. Um, but we know that he was obedient unto death, and that that was for our sins and for the sins of uh the entire world. It could have happened at any moment, so keep watch. Amen. You care to get us pre-prayed? Love to. Heavenly Father, thank you as always for um this time that we get to spend in your word. We get to talk about your son, the Lord Jesus Christ. I just pray that you can give us eyes and ears to hear, to understand, to stay awake. I just I pray that you energize us. This is this is a tough um this is a tough chapter. We we see betrayal, and we know that that betrayal happened because of us and because of our sins. And we just pray that we can uh be obedient to you, Father, be mindful of your word, and I just pray that we can share these things with anybody you put in our path. We love you, Father, and we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

Amen. They had a gonosco in the end of 13, and it was all to prepare them for what's coming. The disciples, that is. You know, you said it's it's know that it's even at the door. Yeah. Yeah. Watch. Watch. Stay awake.

Wake up, church. Don't get caught sleeping. Let's do this. All right. Mark 14, verse 1. After two days was the feast of Passover and of unleavened bread, and the chief priests and scribes sought how they might take him by craft, by guile, and put him to death. But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people. This is leading up to the Passover. This would be the feast the feast day, right? The feast of the Passover, and this is uh the preparation day, or leading up to the preparation day, where eventually they would pick that lamb that they would uh sacrifice for the Passover.

But they said not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.

During the feast. The Passover feast. Yeah. Which is not one day, it's a it's a week. And there was a high Sabbath involved in this as well, right? Which yes, okay. So it's basically eight days in total, is it not? That's correct. Uh verse three. And being in Bethany, House of Dates, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of Spikenard, very precious, and she broke the box and poured it on his head. I mean, I think at this time it was probably that was probably like three hundred dollars worth of precious ointment. He's now had his head and his feet anointed. Yep, from head to toe, as we say. Verse four. And there were some that had indignation within themselves and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? I don't I feel like their hearts weren't weren't quite right with uh with the mind and heart of Christ. You know? They're looking at it still on that fleshly level in this kingdom coming in. They were expecting it to be something of this earth, like David's kingdom, of which part they were one of the twelve that, you know, were able to partake of that. So even, I mean, it's for us today too. As we read God's word, as we study God's word, these things are spiritual teachings. You know, they're they're heart-changing and mind-changing. They're not about changing your pocketbook and uh doing these other things or getting your status bigger in the world. You know, it's the opposite, if anything.

Yeah, humbly. This is a very clear example of somebody believing in the death of Christ. And there's deep faith, and there's and then there's substance. The word was spoken, and she believed it, and it was an appointed work. It says here it was appointed under her.

Yeah. Verse 5. For it might have been sold for more than 300 pence and have been given to the poor, and they murmured against her.

Such a Israel in the wilderness feel. Yeah. Pre-promised land, and that's where Christ is taking them. Some murmuring. There's murmuring happening. A bunch of murmuring going on.

In and out of the camp. Yeah. Verse 6. And Jesus said, Let her alone. Why trouble you her? She hath wrought a good work on me. She's preparing this body for death, whereas she knows by faith, which which you just basically alluded to, is that he's not going to be in that grave for very long, right? Yeah. This is the only opportunity to really anoint the body before burial because when the women come back, we read ahead. When the women come there, he's not going to be there.

You ever look at this good work, that word for that? It's almost like gospel. It's almost like good news. It's like happy, joyous thing.

Yeah.

Yeah. It's like good work on me. So this is a joyous event. I believe there's an element of her faith here that there's a resurrection that's going to occur. It's deep.

SPEAKER_01 8:30

Yeah, absolutely. Verse 8, she hath done what she could. She is come before aforehand to anoint my body to bury me. Like I just said, he wasn't going to be in the grave. Verse nine. Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial for her.

She's really she really hit the big time. Verse 10. And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests to betray him unto them. And when they had heard it, they were glad and promised to give him money, and he sought how he might conveniently betray him. Conveniently. Conveniently. Do you think you felt slated a little bit? Probably. Verse twelve. And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the Passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the Passover? The unleavened bread was that's directly back to leaving Egypt again, too, right? It's Passover's as well, but they went through the whole house with that candle, looking out, making sure there was no leaven in there. Get rid of it all.

What's coming up is now the selection of the lamb. Yeah. I was talking about the sequences of things. Yeah. Miriam.

Thirteen. And he sendeth forth two of his disciples and saith unto them, Go you into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water, follow him. It's kind of an unusual scenario where you would see a man carrying a pitcher of water, but it reminds me of, you know, going to the wells and selecting of wives and all these old things back in the Old Testament with Isaac and Rebecca and things like that, huh?

I think this is a prepared work. Yeah. Of course. And I think this prepared work is well, get ahead of it a little bit, is is washing of feet. Oh.

They're going that pitcher, yeah.

SPEAKER_00 11:17

He's got a pitcher of water, and that's going up into that room. This man's got a mission too from from the Lord, and you know, the Lord's gonna use that and he's gonna use it.

SPEAKER_01 11:26

Yeah. Oh, that's cool. Verse 14. And wheresoever he shall go in, say you to the good men of the house, the master saith, Where is the guest chamber where I shall eat the Passover with my disciples? Question mark.

This is the preparation meal. The the lamb hasn't been killed yet. Nope. Then this is the preparation before the Passover. A lot of people get really confused by this, but it's not there yet. The sun hasn't went down and it's not that day yet.

Well, we know that the same day that Christ was betrayed, um he broke bread. So it wasn't uh he wasn't crucified, he wasn't the Passover until the following day. That's right. Sometimes it's confusing just because of when the day starts in the Hebrew calendar.

And when the calendar is when the Sabbath is, and then when the high Sabbath is because of the calendar. That throws people as well. You know, during during a a feast time like the the Passover, there's the beginning of that feast is also a high Sabbath, so that week can have two Sabbaths. Multiple, yeah.

Fifteen. And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared. Prepared beforehand. They're make ready for us.

So prepared it even is gonna have a pitcher of water in it. That's awesome.

Sixteen. And his disciples went forth and came into the city and found as he said unto them, and they made ready the Passover, the preparation meal. They were obedient, you know. That's what a disciple should do. Get prepared. Keep watch. 17. And in the evening he cometh with the twelve. So this is the start of uh the fourteenth, I believe, right? This would be the very very beginning of the day. It would be our twelve oh one AM.

That's correct, yeah. Sundown anyway. Okay.

Well, in picture of, and not that actual time, and in pitcher of. Yeah. Sundown for them. Yeah, I gotcha. Verse 18. And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, one of you which eateth with me shall betray me. Uh nineteen. And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? And another said, Is it I? Twenty. And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve that dippeth with me in the dish. Dippeth the sop.

What's in the sop? Bread and olive oil. Olive oil. Think about that. They just came from and where they're going to. A lot of olives in here. A lot of crushing olives and the oil, you know. It's it's almost like an anointing unto a purpose, right here.

Yeah. Twenty-one. The son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the son of man is betrayed. Good were it for that man if he'd never been born.

It's a tough verse for a lot of people. The end of Judas from this is pretty tragic without getting into details. And had this not been in his life and this greed and all this would have happened, he would have been better for it. But we're better because this happened.

Again, it was just it was prepared ahead of time, hundreds and thousands of years uh beforehand, basically, but still doesn't make it any easier. You don't want to betray Christ, right? I mean, our our ultimate goal is to to be um obedient to Christ and to follow his will and seek out and follow his will. So get to know him. Twenty-two. And as they did eat, Jesus took bread and blessed and broke it, and gave to them and said, Take, eat, this is my body. Twenty-three. And he took the cup when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. All of 'em. Not not just a couple. All of us drank of that cup too. Twenty-four. And he said unto them, This is my blood of the New Covenant, New Testament, which is about to be shed for many. Twenty-five. Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

Sure shows you what the fruit of the vine represents and what it is and how significant it is. You have the fruit of the vine, you have bread, you have olive oil, you have a washing. This is a pretty spiritually important history lesson right here that Christ has given them.

And their eyes are going to be opened to what it is. Twenty-six. And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the Mount of Olives. Those hymns were uh the great halal, right? Hallelujah Psalms.

That are so this is the one of the things that connects this day to exactly what the day we're saying, the preparation meal. And you can it's almost they're almost like a roadmap, the psalms and the songs, all the way through right to when he's on the cross. You know, you know these days by what psalms are sung, what scriptures are read. Not even a question.

So it's Psalm what 115, 116, 117, 118. These are the halal songs. Some of the themes or summaries are glory belongs to God alone, thanksgiving for God's salvation, all to be able to worship through Jesus Christ, God's love and victory, right? Amen.

We could probably we're not gonna do this right now because of the length of this chapter, but we could probably take each of those psalms and do it. Compare them, compare them to the principles that Christ did, the bread, the olive oil, the wine, right?

Yeah, the washing. Or you guys out there can can go and check that stuff out and report back to us.

Let us know, but there's a lot of work there. Yeah, there is. And while you're at it, compare it to the coming out of Egypt before they actually get into the promised land.

Can you imagine Jesus singing I shall not die but live? Jesus singing, or the the stone which the builders rejected. That's awesome. He's singing this right now as he's about to lay down his life uh for us. That's that's an amazing picture. Those are songs to sing right there. Can you give us a little rendition of one of them? Just for entertainment purposes. I shall not die but live. No. Amen. 27. And Jesus said unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night. Not just Judas. Not just Judas, all of you shall be offended because of me this night. For it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. That's quoted from Zechariah 13, 7, right there. 28. But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. Going back up there where all that teaching happens. Behold, I have told you beforehand. Love that. 29. But Peter said unto him, although, or even if all shall be offended, yet will not I.

Let's connect the sheep here with Peter. So the shepherd is struck. The sheep scattered, they go to the pasture that they're used to, all Galilee, and they're grazing out there. And well, we know in Peter's life what happens is pretty amazing. And it connects it right to the sheep. So all the sheep are there, and here comes Christ, you know, he before even putting it back together. It's almost like Peter knew it was spoken to him.

And maybe that's why he got so uh outspoken in this, as he as he normally does. Verse thirty. And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto you, that this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. The watches three of 'em. Thirty one. But he spoke more vehemently. If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

The progression in Peter. He continues in being vehement, yeah, as it says, and then his vehemence and hit gets others to be that way. So it shows you the influence that Peter has on the others.

He's a leader. And he's he he's taught a very important lesson about leadership throughout throughout all this, right? And we see it in the Acts when when uh after the Holy Spirit comes, we see that leadership take kind of take hold. But 32. And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane. I believe that means oil press in Aramaic.

It's a pretty amazing word. Yeah. Be be crushed, be crushed to the point that the juice comes out. You're gonna see that Christ is that oil. This is the Mount of Olives. Yes. Yeah. It's been foretold.

Where did he come from? You know? Yeah. And to continue in 32. And he saith to his disciples, Sit you here while I shall pray.

Sit on the Mount of Olives while I pray. Yeah.

You will get crushed.

He probably was right there next to a press. I wouldn't doubt it at all the way God does it. That's right.

33. And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy. He was in agony with this stuff, right?

Crushing him. Crushing him. 34. And he saith unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful unto death. Tarry ye hear and watch. And watch. Yeah. Told them.

Watch. And watch. Stay awake. So there's a parallel. This is this is foretelling what's coming up, but he's saying, You watch, I'm gonna suffer. Yep. I'm gonna go be crushed for you. You watch.

You watch. Uh back to chapter 13, verse 35. It says, Watch you therefore, for you know not when the master of the house cometh. At evening or at midnight or at the cockrowing or in the morning, lest coming he find you sleeping, and what I say unto you I say unto all, watch. So this your watches you these are your watches right here, right? Likewise us, we need to watch. Amen. Thirty-five. And he went forward a little and fell on the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour might pass from him. Thirty-six. And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee. Take away this cup from me, nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt, what you desire. That cup is pretty deep. It's immense.

I got a note here, uh Isaiah 51, 17, talking about staying awake and the wringing out the cup and the dregs, and so on and so forth. But 37. And he cometh and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? Couldst thou not watch one hour? I mean, you said you weren't even going to be offended by me, and you can't even stay at stay awake for a couple minutes. One hour. 38. Watch you and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit truly is willing, ready, but the flesh is weak. Know all about that.

This is the whole reason Christ died. It's because of the weakness of the flesh. And that's the picture of the law here.

It couldn't follow it, it couldn't fulfill it, so he had to come and die in its place, you know, in our place. 39. And he went away and prayed and spoke the same words, besought him three times. And when he had verse 40, and when he had returned, he found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy, neither knew they what to answer him. They didn't even they couldn't even they didn't even have an excuse. This is for us. So we all stay awake. 41. He cometh the third time and saith unto them, Sleep on now and take your rest. It is enough. The hour is come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hand of sinners.

He asks Peter, can you be baptized with what I'm going to be baptized with? And can you drink the cup that I'm going to drink? And this is what Christ is just referring to and praying about to his father. This baptism of this death and this taking this on him is coming. And this is so when he's asking them to watch and to be vigilant, he knows that this that not only is his blood going to be poured out, but he's going to be baptized into this death for them.

As James and John, I think, was there too with Peter, right? And they're all they're all expecting to. It's a thinking they could do that. It's a picture of deception, yeah.

You know, it's of the end times and how it's going to happen. And that's why we have to remain vigilant and we have to uh be baptized into his word and and know that this this sorrow is coming.

Yeah. I'm going to read uh Hebrews chapter 5, uh verses 7 through 9. Awesome. Who in the days of his flesh, this is talking about Christ, who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared or revered, though he were a son, yet learned the he obedience by the things which he suffered. Verse 9 of that, and being made perfect, he became author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. So the ultimate example for all of us is to strive to follow in his footsteps and be obedient to God's will, not our own will. Amen. Big shoes to fill, but you know we don't fill them. Christ does. Verse 42. Rise up, let us go. Lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand. So he knew. He knew. He knew the times and the seasons, he recognized it. What you must do, go do quickly. You know, told him that already. Verse 43. And immediately, uh, while he yet spoke, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, those are clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. A lot of people miss what's going on here.

The sun went down. Christ besought the father and bled on his head. Here comes the three, and they select. They're led by Judas. Get into what his name means, too.

Yeah, the betrayer there.

Yep. And they select their lamb, who has been selected by God. He's bleeding.

He's marked. It's about to be put on the post, on the on the doorposts of people's houses, right? Their lives.

He is the door.

Yeah.

He's the the sheep. He's all of it. He's the shepherd. He's the door. He's the gate.

And his his posts have just been anointed by blood. So again, that's why that was the preparation meal that they just ate, not the actual Passover meal, because he was just selected as the Passover lamb.

And there's a whole nother layer that's coming up here. Realize of this selection was made for the whole entire nation by the chiefest of them. Yeah. And they came right to him and selected him personally with a guide.

That's literally what they would be doing in their the ordinance of it, right? Like they I'm sure they had another one.

His name was probably Barabbas. I digress, as my friend Jason would say.

44. And he that betrayed him had given them a token saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same as he, take him and lead him away safely. So he walks up and plants one on him. Pretty incredible word study there in kiss. Do it. It's pretty awesome. 45. And as soon as he was come, he goeth straight away to him and saith, Master, Master, and kissed him.

Says it twice. If you know anything about Hebrew, anytime anything is said twice, huh? Well, it's saying there's none greater. Like if you say gold, gold, it's the purest gold in the land. There you go. If you say teacher, teacher, the best teacher ever. Notice he never called him Lord.

Master Master. Master Master. 46. And they laid their hands on him and took him. 47. And one of them that stood by drew a sword and smote a servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.

Let's back up to 46 a little bit. What did they do to him?

They took him. He's fulfilling it. They laid hands on him. Think about it. Draw the connection. Yeah. He doesn't say it. He doesn't say it just to say it. They laid hands on the lamb. Yeah, and took him. They selected it.

We got the each account of that, right? We joke about this before, but it's like Matthew, Mark, Luke. It all says the same thing right here. John? Oh it was Peter. Peter's the one.

Thanks, John. What's the spiritual significance here? Of slicing off that ear. Malchus, the ear, the the high priest's assistant, servant.

Yeah. I would imagine there was some anointing that had to happen to that that same ear, so that it was a a picture of you know, it was a picture pointing to Christ, which they couldn't hear ever. You know? And I think, you know, him slicing that ear off and then Christ saying, even let me all allow me even to do this to heal this ear, goes to show that if you got ears to hear, you you'll let he'll let you hear.

He's gonna heal ears. He's definitely gonna heal ears. He's gonna heal ears. I wonder about evidence. I'm not even joking. So while what you're saying can be 100% accurate, Peter cuts that ear off. And that's the servant.

Let's talk about the young man a little bit. It kind of flies under the radar some. There's a note about it being Lazarus. Right. And it's completely feasible because Jesus went back to Bethany both nights before this. And Lazarus is connected to grave clothes and having new clothes put on him and pulled off. And if you look up the name of who Lazarus is, he's a picture of the priesthood, and Christ is taking that priesthood on him, and this is right there. Well, this is what's happening right now. Yeah. Is Christ is being anointed and is being betrayed, and he's taken this on himself. It's quite possible. We don't know for sure. But it's worth the study. It's definitely worth the study and looking, figuring out who this young man is. And it doesn't point it out for no reason.

Well, the word says that they are talking about when they're plotting to kill Christ, they're they're saying we're gonna pull in him too, because of the the many of the Jews believed on Christ because of that. Because of Lazarus' sake. Yeah, great point, Jason. Coming back from the It connects him right to this. 52. And he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.

Gotta cast them off. Another curious thing is when they're on their way up to Jerusalem and back is the man that cast off his garment cast off his garments, you know. Yeah.

And then his clothed and there's so much uh picture of you know us casting our our own cl our own clothes off and putting on Christ, you know, putting on that new man of Christ. It says it much plainer in later New Testament writings. 53. And they led Jesus away to the high priest, and with him were assembled all the chief priests and elders and scribes. So all the rulers of this age, all the all the ones that wanted to have the vineyard that he just talked about in chapter twelve about hey, let's just kill the son, and then the vineyard will be ours. They're all assembled there. How are they gonna wrangle this vineyard out of yeah?

Not only are they breaking their own law, but they're breaking God's law. Well, they've been doing that. This is the one place where they have not been able to construct laws around God's laws, their own precepts that make it null and void. They thought they're just gonna be able to cakewalk through this, but they've got nothing on him.

Remember Naboth, 1 Kings 21, Naboth and uh Jezebel and Ahab, right? Jez Jezebel wrangles up all these false because Ahab wants Nahoth's uh vineyard and he doesn't want to give it up. He's like I can't give it up. This is my inheritance. You know, so then Jezebel, and then Ahab's all whining and crying because he can't have this this uh vineyard next to his whatever, and uh Jezebel goes and wrangles up a bunch of false witnesses and they end up taking Naboth's life and then gets the gets the vineyard, you know. Ahab gets the vineyard. So so first King 21, yeah.

It's just a picture of what was to come and what Christ did for us. So Christ knew all of these things, and he still laid down his life for us, you know.

Do you know who is standing in the way here? There's so many witnesses there that heard that they're having a tough time piecing together their own, you know. And this is why when it says that they the people believed on him and they knew him and they heard him.

Again the high priest asked him and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed. Sixty two. And Jesus said, I am, and you shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power and coming in the clouds of heaven. Which we talked about them clouds last chapter, too, that that clouds that was coming. 63. And then the high priest rent his clothes and saith, What need we any further witness?

A lot of clothes getting torn and rent and etc. in here. Look at Christ's clothes. Eventually it's gonna be even our Savior's clothes, huh? But they're not rent.

It's the whole point. All these clothes and these ears and all these stuff is being severed. And stuff. All the man's stuff is gonna be gone, and the spiritual truth of the word of God is gonna remain. It's gonna remain. They can't do anything about these prophecies. They can't get rid of them. They can't, you know, lies will never cover them because this is appointed.

When when we're just reading about the all the witnesses not coming together, that it reminded me of all the fragments. Right? It's all the all the baskets of fragments, and it's like, who do men say that I am? Who you know? But you got the one proclamation from Peter, you are thou art the Christ.

It's the garden too. Yeah. He calls off for this witness with his own people that have already made judgment against him. You know, so the and they call for the land. This is it. He's been selected, it's official. It's official for Israel right now.

And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest. Let me interject something here before we get on to 67. You I leave a big enough pause there for you to comment.

That's it. Once I move on, that's it. Peter has a progression here. You can follow it. Where he's goes around the palace and eventually he is following Christ. And he gets to the point where now he's hiding. Down, it says below. He was like above him before, and he was witnessing these things.

And he gets lower and lower and lower and lower. And we talk about this the sinking, and that's what's happening to Peter. And that's I believe it's on purpose from Christ to prepare him to get all this stuff out of him. Christ sowed into him what he was going to do. Every watch. And so as he's progressing, he's probably hearing these words of Christ to the point where he gets so low, he's he has to look up to see these things.

And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest. And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. 68. But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand what thou saith.

And he denied it again. And a little uh after they that stood by said again to Peter, surely thou art one of them, for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech agreeeth thereto. Your speech gives it away. Seventy-one. But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom you speak. Well he just spoke. He spoke with the abundance of his heart. Yeah. Conviction. Seventy-two. And the second time the cock crew, and Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. That's back in verse thirty. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

Yeah. It was immediate. Things weren't going the way that he thought they were going to be going, really, except for Christ.

Even though this made him cry, and he's seeing this, it almost had to bolster his faith. Because right before Christ talked about what he was going to do, he talked about rising from the grave, talking about being betrayed and raising from the dead. These are prophetic words. There's no way around it, and it just hit Peter. I want to emphasize, as we finish up 14 here for our viewers, I want to emphasize that first to the Jew and then to Gentile. And this is this is prophesied that Christ was first going to be delivered up by the Jews, but he or the Jews. The kingdom, yep. And he's also, what people don't realize is he's also chosen by the Gentile. And we're and you look at that in 15 as we come up, and this is how it's so perfect to salvation. And it's so perfect that at the end here of 14, that the one that our Father uses to weave that is Peter. And he puts that charcoal fire in there, which is the peace offering. And it's the peace offering for all of mankind. Peter meets Christ there and eats a meal with Christ. And it is the 100% fulfillment of the peace offering. And guess what? The peace offering was for all nations. You go look it up in the Old Testament. When they look upon that building and they see that building, God says, Let them in, let them come eat with me. And this is what is being ushered in here. You know, my sheep are going to be scattered, they're going to go into Galilee, and they're going to eat this with me, and we're going to change the world. And he overcame everything. This is amazing. This is this is absolutely amazing. The stone that the builders had rejected has become the chief cornerstone. It's marvelous in our eyes. This is exactly what they're talking about. They never seen it coming. Nobody ever seen it coming. Because they're spiritual things. And he's not going to let them be seen until it's all done.
