A lot of men are kind of afraid to say something to their wives that's out of turn or could or could be perceived as insulting, or you know, they just don't want to. Men sometimes don't want to get in trouble. Hey, welcome to the Fatherless Chi Chi. I am your fatherless friend, Andrew, your quasi-big brother. And today I'm a dozen of the finest gas station red roses that exist because I'm gonna be your wingman. We're gonna talk romance. We're gonna talk dating, romance, sex, erotica. No, I'm not gonna talk erotica. My mom listens to this. Give me a break. It's a joke. We've not talked about this topic yet. We talk about all kinds of relationships, platonic parenting, uh professional relationships, even, but we've not talked about this one. And I got I have some questions for from people. Source some questions, got some internet, internet questions, got some Ann Emily, Ann M got involved and she got me some questions. She's always great at sourcing some questions as I grow the audience. That's wonderful. And it's it's high time we talk, we kick the tires on romance and all that really fun, interesting stuff. And boy, doesn't it make you crazy romance? It you could be like in the bottom of a pit because of unrequited love, because you're not getting the attention from that person that you're desiring or want to date. And then you could be over the moon because they look at you a certain way and things like that. And you know what? That's called that's called living. And that's great. But the highs are high and the lows are low of love. And then as you get married, as I am, to a wonderful and beautiful woman, very attractive, I'll I'll just leave it there. It evolves, it gets complicated with with children and everyday life and things like that. And and it that's when the sort of the real work begins because you have to really work for that. You have to work to prioritize that person and that relationship itself. We'll leave it there for now, and we're gonna get into that and and a lot more on the fatherless cheat sheet. Check it out. Okay, we're back. I'm gonna apologize right now for the nose scratching. It's springtime, and I'm happy. But here's the thing: to really keep the pollen out of this thing, it looks like I my nose looks like it belongs on Easter Island. So I need a power washer or something like that. Or I've said before, the walk through the car wash with my chin up in the air. But boy, the pollen and the shit gets in there, and it's like it's a party. It's a party for pollen in these nostrils, I'll be honest with you. Right garage or left garage does not matter. I'm excited to talk about this. I've always been, I've always been a romantic. I've always, I really have. Since a kid, I don't know. Something about just, you know, love and and wooing and I don't know, romance. I really always have been fairly romantic, and I say that very confidently. I I love it. Uh the whole, you know, going out to dinner dimly lit, you're locking eyes, you're, you know, performing, I'm telling jokes. It's a thing. You know, you're trying to make your partner laugh, your, your, your wife laugh, your husband laugh, whoever the hell. You want to make that person happy. You're attracted to that person. You have a chemistry with that person, you hope. Both of those things exist. The fatherless connection here is is a simple one in relation to love and romance and you know, relations with the fairer sex. I was raised by women, I was always around women, and you know their friend, my mom's friends, my sister's friends, my cousin, I was very close with, you know, her friends. Um and I always was just around women constantly, constantly, and you start to understand a little bit better about their their way, their their shorthand, their needs, their the way they communicate. So I kind of was always a little bit better at communicating with women than men. I was never, I've said this before, but I was never really a guy's guy. And um I think going forward, as I got a little bit older, that definitely helped me out because although you sometimes you then you get you get relegated to the friend zone and then you're hearing about some some guy that they're, you know, they like or something like that. And this was many, many moons ago. But my point is, is that you you do have that skill set because again, it's just reps. You're you're sitting there listening to women speak all the time and understanding what they're going through, and then you can obviously have um a a better empathy and sympathy and and go from there. But uh anyway, yeah, what what happens is basically what I like to say is that I kind of um I kinda I kind of learn more about you know French manicures and and feminine hygiene products than you know Windsor knots and shaving kits is is how I could say it. And that really couldn't be a a more true thing. And I think it suited me well at the end of the day, because it was what it was, but uh you know, I as a now as a girl dad, I feel like that will help me in the future. Now, there are still gonna be things that I tell my wife to handle, and uh they'll want her to handle, but I think I'll just be a little more equipped for it than anything else. But again, I I wanted to talk about this today. I wanted to start out with a couple different things about love. There's a great quote from Mad Men and which is just uh a romantic show, not not in the sense of candlelit romance, but just just the style and the the pace, the slowness of the show, and he's always got a lady on the side, and we're gonna talk about that, but there's a quote from the show, and he's it's a scene where he's selling a Leica, Leica camera. They're doing a pitch for it. And ironically enough, his his Gumar's husband was coming to get a free camera because Don promised him a free camera. So the the husband is standing there in a doorway admiring Don give this speech and give this pitch within his you know, his colleagues or his people working for him. And the the quote is this in in talking about romance, basically. We want that electric jolt to the body. We want Eros. It's like a drug, it's not domestic. What's the difference between a husband knocking on a door and a sailor getting off of a ship? About 10,000 volts. And I think that's a feeling that we all hopefully have had. I certainly have. And I think it's a feeling that it's just that that that dopamine that hits when you have that person that just makes you nuts and and on on every level. And it's not you you could it's not continuous all every minute of every day. We we'd all be walking into walls all the time. But I just I really love that quote and because it's so it's it paints such a picture about the thing that we we chase and uh escapes us and comes back and evolves and and that's part of the thing I I would say with as you do get older and you you you're in a marriage and uh you have to find ways to re you know, d discover that, not rediscover it, but it can get tamped down because of everyday life, because of kids. Who's sick, who's who's pu puking on the floor, what dog is digging what hole. So it's just something that you have to prioritize, and sometimes it does fall by the wayside with with certain people and marriages and things like that, but let's hope we can answer some questions and have some fun doing it. I'm gonna do two top fives really quick. One of them one of them is just five things I wish or I would have told myself. I would tell myself at twelve, let's just say, the about dating, love, sex. Uh my my poor mother Linda, you could turn this off if you want to. If you want to skip this whole episode, it's okay. I'm not gonna get graphic or anything weird like that, but you know, I I never what was she gonna do? Give me the talk? No, we it just didn't happen. Like everything else in my life, it was a lot of a lot of trial and error, and everything worked out just fine. We'll just put it that way. But things, five things I would have told myself in sort of yeah, these are kind of in order. Auditioning or fighting f for time or attention from somebody for somebody is not gonna work. They're not it. They're not it. If you feel like you have to I mean look, there's in the beginning phases, of course, there is some of that cat and mouse back and forth, things like that. But if you really feel like that person's just not that into you, isn't that wasn't that a movie years ago? You got I I wish I would have picked up on some of that a little bit sooner, years ago. So that's number one. Um not every person has to be the one. So long as everybody's on the same page and the you know, you're not you're sort of not uh misleading them. You can just have fun with people sometimes, and it doesn't have to be this big serious thing. This one, Linda, you could turn you could turn off your fast forward. The physical, it takes two to tango. So you want to make sure try to prioritize that other person's enjoyment of the thing, because it'll make everything quite a bit better, I think. And not that I don't do that, I'm just saying, you know, I wish at at twirls, I wish I would have known that we're going forward a little bit. It just would have made everything, you know. It would have been nice to hear. This is hard for me, and I've learned over the years a little bit better. I guess you'll have to ask my wife. Shut up and listen. Sometimes, sometimes your wife, husband, partner, whomever, they just want to talk. They just want to talk. Boyfriend, girlfriend, whoever, whatever the hell you're involved in, they just want to be heard by, heard out by the person that they love and spend time with romantically. This one is probably the biggest for me in my younger days. Be nice, but don't be too nice. That's a problem. No, I don't believe in the whole, you know, punching a girl in the arm and you know, the fifth grade uh the kindergarten of it all, whatever the hell it is, you know, being sort of mean. And I I was always pretty nice, but I think that does that does run out. You you can be too nice, and then it's a turnoff because the honestly, even the too nice is not totally genuine, right? And it just sort of reeks of desperation, and that's no good either. And we're gonna do one more quick top five. This is this is a fun one, it's a music one. Now, so much of of this topic, love and romance, unrequited love. I mean, it doesn't it make you sometimes it makes you nuts, like in a good way. It gets your stomach going. You know, you're thinking about that person. And how much I mean, the the art, the music that love has and heartbreak has created, it's it's almost it's nearly infinite because that feeling is so strong. But I picked out a top five songs that sort of reflect that sometimes that quiet desperation or that yearning or that not the best, not not just, you know, skyrockets and flight, afternoon delight. We're not talking about that. We're talking about something a little more, and well, what's the word I'm looking for? Just, you know, the tough stuff in love. I thought it'd be an interesting list. The longing, you know? So let's go. Uh, not really in this one's not really in particular order. And I know what you're gonna say, those songs, da-da-da. Uh it's my list. It's my list. Go make your own list and then share it with me. And then tell your aunt and uncle to subscribe on YouTube and on Instagram, follow me, and all that good stuff. And then have them send me their lists as well. So let's get the snowball of the fatherless cheat sheet going. Okay? All right, here's my list. You're so vain. I mean, cool. I love that song. Is that one of the greatest songs of all time? You walked into the party, one eye, one eye in the mirror, you're looking at yourself, and then you're looking at the ladies looking at you. I mean, it's that's sort of a good feeling. But anyway, uh love that song, Carly Simon. Wow. Roots and Wings by the Wallflowers. This is a song, this is a beautiful song. It's a great song, but he's he's like basically the song is about hey, I gave you roots and wings, and what did you do to me? You did this whole thing, and no good, you know. Um, set Set Myself on Fire, Keeping You Warm is one of the lyrics in that song. So I think I think we've all done that to some degree, and it happens. Uh this one you're gonna get you're gonna laugh a little bit. I I love this song totally unironically. This song, uh the Your Love by the Outfield, you you'll know it when you play it. But he's he's like, Josie's on a vacation far away, and he just wants, he's like, I just want to tell you everything. I think he's just trying to get her into bed, you know, because we we the the shit that we'll do for that, my God. That's a whole that's a different topic, and I'll need a professional on the show for that. But it's a great song. It's I don't know, there's just like there's this wanting in that song, and and again, that visceral feeling when you just you need that person or whatever. I mean, you know, let's but so I like that one. Um Killing Me Softly, you can take Lauren Hill version is is amazing, great, but there's something about the Roberta Flack version of Killing Me Softly that there's so much, there's so much there, there's so much pain in her voice, and she also, there's nothing to me better. Listen to that song, and and you you will be lying to yourself if you think that she's trying. She's so effortless with the way she sings that song, and it's so beautiful. She's like, he's like, he's shumming my pain with his fingers. He's he's you know, he sees me. We always talk about that. But that's what happens when that with love and romance and relationships, when that person, like you're letting that person into your heart, into your head, and she's just saying, uh he just he did it. I'm feeling, I'm just feeling what this guy's doing. And I just I love that goddamn song. It's so good. And it's so it's so deeply personal. I think the authenticity and the the the personal nature of that song is just sort of blows my mind, especially the way she she just sings it. She's it's unbelievable. But the Lauren Hill version kicks at other Fuji's version kicks ass too. Uh let's see. Oh. Okay. Like a stone, audio slave. Talk about yearning and and and sad and just that frustration, and you're waiting for that person. And again, these are my interpretations of these songs. I'm not I'm not a music critic or or historian. These are just great songs. So, you know, check them out if you can. We're gonna answer some questions here. I'm gonna shout this out real quick. Over over the holidays, he asked a question about um the he's from he was from like Bosnia, and his dad died at Christmas and the whole thing. He got engaged to his lady. How great is that? So, congratulations. I'm sorry, I'm his name is is missing my my frontal lobe right now, but I think that's fantastic. Uh, and I'm I'm glad to hear that. I heard about that. So, shout out that couple. I'll try to get their name. I'll say it. Okay, questions. This is from a male, and he says, uh long t he's he says, we we've been together a long time, ten years, and the spark is gone, but our partnership is strong. How do you distinguish between a relationship that's dying and one that's just evolving into a different season? Relationships are constantly evolving, especially when you're in that deep. That's a you know, that's a long time, pretty long time. I'll be married, we'll be married, my wife and I, nine years come in October. And now in the scheme of things, it's not that long of a time, but it is, you know, it's it's good good proof of concept, as they say. And so I don't know. I I'll ask you a question. Are you st you know, you're still rolling on each other in the middle of the night? I mean, you know, you hit nuts and bolts, no pun. How how much of how much of the spark is gone if if you're still interested or doing that? I don't know. You have to really I'm really not answering your question. I I would say this is sort of for you to figure out, because in that, in that way, I would say you can certain phases can be disguised as something else. You could you can just be going for a little bit of a downturn or something like that, and then give it a little time, especially circumstances, things pop up. Let's hope they're popping up for you. But my point is, is that you could be going through something else, and it's just it's not necessarily as bad as you think. I think that you'll know what this thing is. So I don't think I answered that very well, but I I do, I mean it. I you kind of you just kind of know. Ebbs and flows in relationships exist. They exist, they exist, but it's sort of for you to differentiate, is what I'm trying to say. So I can't tell you, I can't tell you how to tell. I would say, I would say the uh the midnight rollover is a good test.

Let's see. Okay. This is a young lady. She's 30, she's 32. I just got ghosted after three months of intense dating. That's not nice. How do I stop viewing my worth through the lens of someone else's inability to communicate? Well, these are really well put questions. I appreciate your faith in me to answer them properly. Well, I I don't like this fucking guy that you were dating. That takes, I mean, the lack of stones it takes to just ghost you after dating for three months. I mean, that honestly, that's just a shit. Unless something unless is he is he still with us? Is he gonna wind up on like Dateline ID in a year? I don't know. I would I'd want answers. And I want answers. Let me know. But he's a piece of shit. Don't worry about that guy. Forget it. Move on. Really. I know it's hard because we get so wrapped up in this stuff, and we take it so we take it so personally, because it is personal to a degree. But like most things, it goes back to the other person, their their worldview, their their view of themselves. So I would just say, if you can, get an answer and then move on. I'm sure you I'm sure you'll land on your feet and you can have a find somebody else. You have a great time, right? Okay. This is this is a a fella. My partner wants kids now. I want to wait. Oh, this is a okay. Uh my partner wants kids now. I want to wait five years for my career. At what point am I sacrificing for her life's vision? My bro. Okay. Well, I I would I would say I would say you gotta get on the same page and pretty quickly, first of all, if this were if this were reversed, it might be a little different, but there is there is biology involved here. And you know, I'm not what I'm saying is you you kinda if she's ready to do that, maybe there's other reasons that she's ready to do that. So this is sort of a very sensitive thing, and I would be really hyper aware of that. And if if you're not looking to do that, you need to be very clear. You need to have that conversation and be very, very upfront. There's a lot going on down down in uh down in Florida. Where I got a bunch of these questions from. But um yeah, I I would I would sort of get in front of that conversation post-haste, my friend. Because I I don't think you have the five years to wait. You gotta know what's going on in your career. What are you what are you doing? What are you doing? Right? I I don't know. You have to find out what what she wants to do and go from there. That's my advice. Let's see. Okay. Uh this is a sp is a spending habits one. Um our spending habit our spending habits are opposites. He's a spender, I'm a saver. Can a marriage actually survive uh that difference and how we value security or is uh financial infidelity? I mean, that's I don't know. I mean, is he spending the money at a strip club? What are we doing? You do have to, yeah, you have to get on board with each other's basic values. We talk about that a lot on the show with having that big stuff online. When that that big stuff is not, it doesn't have to be perfect, but you have to have a pretty decent baseline of value and understanding where the other person's coming from, or else it does, it gets a little messy. As a lot of this stuff is messy, but when you start to bring disagreements about money into love and marriage and romance, that's that gets tricky. That gets real tricky. Yeah, money, I would say money and infidelity are probably the two biggest, right? So I think I should have a divorce attorney on. Uh I know a couple of those. Maybe I can get one of those on the on the show. And so do some do some digging on that. Yeah, can it be, I think, again, all these questions so far is about a bigger conversation. It's about communication. You have to talk, you have to have uncomfortable conversations. And when you have those uncomfortable conversations, sometimes those need to happen. So you could just move forward. And and at least what I like to say all the time is at least you could cross it off the list. You said it, it's over, you did it, and then you have an answer. Even if the answer isn't the one you exactly wanted, you still know where everything stands. Again, my humble opinions. This is uh okay. The kids are gone, the house is quiet, and I'm looking across the dinner table at a man I've known for 25 years. This is an online one, actually. That's interesting. And I realize I don't actually know who he is today. How do you date your spouse when you're both essentially strangers again? Oh, that's kind of sad. Um hey, I I mean, uh, I think I think I like the fact that you're you want to you want to get back in there. I think that's good. That's a positive sign because you could, you know, you could both just hang them up uh to a degree or give up or whatever it is, but it doesn't sound like that's even on your mind. So yeah, I would say by I mean, you start dating again. Start dating again. I mean, we change so much as people, especially, you know, when your kids, when your kids are leaving the house. I can't I can't even think about that right now. My my girls are so little, but I can't even think about that happening anytime soon. And it's not anytime soon, but you can think about it. But as I would fast forward, if if when they go and live their lives, I hope hopefully my wife and I are not are not strangers. I'm sorry that that happened for you. But I I think that it's not out of the realm that you just you start to date again, treat it like you're you're young, you know, you're young people, and you just go out. Literally go out and sit down with a coffee or go to a wine bar and chat, put the goddamn phone away and and see what happens. Maybe that little that little spark comes again. It's fun. It's isn't that fun? When that's part you flirt, right? You you you grab her ass or your husband's ass, whatever. I mean, that's okay. You're married, you grab my wife's ass all the time. It's like, you know, she let you know, it's fine. There's just consent or whatever. I don't get you, whatever. She's my wife. But it's uh, you know, just date, have fun, treat the thing as what it is, because go on a Viking cruise. You know, those Viking cruises, they're not on the high sea, they're like nice. I always want someday when I'm old and gray, my wife and I'll go on a Viking cruise. I just want to do that. Do that. Have some have some um, you know, Bernays sauce over an egg uh, you know, somewhere in uh in Sweden on a small piece of water or whatever. I don't know. That's what you should do if you can afford it. If not, just go to the chilies down the street. It's probably a happy hour you both enjoy. We talk about everything politics, money, the kids, but we don't talk about the sex. It's the one area where we both just hope it works out. Oh boy. Why is it so much harder to ask for what I need in bed? This is this is a this is a woman. It's a female. What I need in bed than to ask for a raise at work. That's a funny, that's actually a funny thing. That's well done. Well written. It's not easy asking for a raise at work. I would say you say, hey Scott, I want you to do this, this, this, and this. I think you can have a real conversation again. I'm uh sorry to give the same explanation over and over again, but it really boils down to just having to talk and saying, This, this is not working for me, big guy. I need you to do more of this or this or this. You know, light a candle, get an outfit, have some fun with each other and stuff like that. You know, maybe he's I tell you this, a lot of a lot of men are kind of afraid to say something to their wives that's out of turn or could or could be perceived as insulting, or, you know, they just don't want to men sometimes don't want to get in trouble. I mean, I I hate to call it like that, but sometimes not rocking the boat works better for people. Not me. I'm a boat, my boat's capsized all the time. I'm I'm tipping that bitch right over. But I would I would call it out. I would just have a talk. You don't have to do it heavy-handed. You could say, hey, look, would you be interested in this or this? I mean, those are those kind of a fun conversation. Uh, you know, if someone were to, you know, go to somebody else with that information, I think that then you see where he's at. You see if he's he's sort of on the same page and stuff like that. How would that, you know, the I would also stop talking about politics? Leave that shit alone. We're not gonna get anywhere talking about that, even with our spouse. Those everybody, they're all a mess. Uh, okay. I just met someone, and for the first time, I don't feel like I have to perform or hide parts of myself. How do you protect that new feeling without becoming so afraid of losing it that you stop being present? Okay. I get what you're saying. You just do it. You just do it. Like you don't need to protect anything. Just have fun. If the person's organically making you feel like that, then that's how they make you feel. And that's great. And just I would go full tilt and enjoy yourself. Enjoy it. Stop getting stop getting in your own way with that. I've done that plenty of times in life, just getting in my own way. So don't worry about that. Just have fun. Okay. This these I sort of saved these two for last because I thought these were sort of interesting. We're uh in the logistics phase of marriage. Who's picking up the kids? What's for dinner? Yeah. I mean, I I get that. Uh, did you did you pay the water bill? Okay. Um we're a great team, but we aren't lovers anymore. God damn, guys. Is it possible to find a person, the person I married underneath all this shared responsibility? Damn, that's an online one. Yeah, of course, of course it's possible. They're in there. They're in there. Look, there's other things, unless, you know, he's he's got a girlfriend on the side. Again, this doesn't say male or female. I'm assuming that this is a female. I don't know, because sometimes men, we just sort of go radio silence when shit hits the fan. And that's not good either. You know, I do, I tend to get quiet when things aren't going particularly well. And I don't shut the fuck up the rest of the time. So here I am. But I would just say, yeah, of course. And and you gotta find out. You gotta owe you to yourself to find out if that person's still in there. And again, oh a lot of people with the with the bedroom stuff. I don't ask or assume or know about anybody else's bedroom business ever. I think it's dangerous. People gossip about that shit. And there's hearsay and there's this and that, or there's whatever. It's nobody's business but those two people. Uh but I would say that some of this, some of these questions, we gotta you gotta get to you gotta turn that furnace back on. You know what I mean? Um just a box of wine and and some uh, you know, I don't know, something. Something. But I would say in this case, you gotta you gotta have the conversation and you gotta you gotta crack the lid open on it because it's gonna it's gonna fester. It's gonna take a long time to So it's like a cavity. If you don't deal with it, it's gonna get worse and worse or worse. So I would say have the conversation first. Let's see. Oh, okay, okay. This is an interesting one. Spent three years being single, and I've never been happier. Oh, good. Uh if I decide to date again, you will. How do I integrate a partner into my life without shrinking myself to fit into theirs? This is so a nowadays question. Sorry. This is online as well. I'm not trying to be insulting, but how do how do I, I'm just gonna say that again. How do I integrate a partner into my life without shrinking myself to fit into theirs? Why does partnership always feel like a compromise of the self? Because that's your mindset and that's what you're making it out to be. That's why. Maybe, you know, maybe give it a shot. You can just find a partner, find an equal, and find somebody sort of who compliments you and who allows you to have the space that you have. You know, now again, I am not an expert. You can find that anywhere else on the internet. I'm just the guy in a shed shooting the shit with you, and I enjoy doing that. What I will say is that my wife has a big personality. She's very dynamic, she's very charismatic. I have a big personality. Now, we're not always smacked asses running all over the place, but nothing makes me happier than when she's, you know, nearly performative, being charming in a group of people and they're enjoying it. I mean, then I'm like, all right, enough. It's my turn now. But I'm almost kidding. My point is you could both exist and you don't have to shrink yourself down. That's that's a that's a you problem. That's a perception problem. And I'm not trying to insult you, but I just mean that it's almost like you you this you gotta just like get over it and and yeah, be yourself and find that person who'll let you do that. But anyway, well, those are the questions. And I wanted to just take a shot with this today. We will have someone on the show, an expert or otherwise, and talk about some of this stuff. Because it's important, it's very important stuff, and it does relate to to fatherlessness and parenting and being a man, being a dad, um getting through life with with what you got and what you have to do, because you know, this is what this is what makes us go around love and romance and things like that. So I hope you enjoyed it. Like, subscribe, YouTube, Instagram, all that good stuff. And until next time, this has been the Fatherless Teacher.
