In April 2023, 55‑year‑old Michael Dale died during a high‑risk fetish session with OnlyFans creator Michaela Brashaye Rylaarsdam in Escondido, California. What began as a consensual encounter escalated into a dangerous situation involving extreme restraint and restricted breathing. Video evidence later showed Dale struggling while unable to free himself. He was declared brain‑dead the next day.

Rylaarsdam was charged and ultimately pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, receiving a four‑year prison sentence. The case raised difficult questions about consent, safety, and responsibility in high‑risk fetish encounters — and how quickly a planned session can turn tragic when proper precautions aren’t taken.
