What's going on, everybody? We are here with the second episode of the Extra Yard Podcast. To everyone that's uh a returning viewer, we definitely appreciate it, and we got some good things in store for you guys that we think you're gonna enjoy. Uh, just to kick things off, I wanted to at least introduce myself. I'm Carter. I mean, you might hear me go by C. That's what Joe tends to call me from time to time. But um, yeah, I've been a fantasy football player for well over ten years now. I've won in that span five championships. Uh, you know, that sounds good, but obviously I'm in five different leagues, so you do the math, it's not that, it's not that crazy, but something I'm I'm still proud of. I've had some uh you know heartbreaking losses too, one to crack over here. Um that that's one I'll never forget. He beat me by like 1.2 points in the championship a couple years ago. And yeah, it's just it's tough. It's why we love the game, it's why we play it. And uh yeah, I'll shoot it over to you, Joe.
SPEAKER_02Um, see, I'm gonna be honest with you. We talked about doing intros before the pod. That was legendary. You just came on and gave them the show intro, your intro, and I feel you. I'm Jody Breeze, Joey Crack. In 10 years, I've had five championships, same way as Carter. You do the math. We play fantasy football every other year. You may win a championship in five leagues. Is that doing well? No, we played. I count it as a win, bro.
SPEAKER_01I count it as a win.
SPEAKER_02To win the game. All right, so we did the intro. I don't want to talk about us.
World Cup
SPEAKER_02You know how it is. I want to talk about soccer, bro. I don't want an intro. It's a fantasy football pod, and we have to. I'm thinking about playing FIFA again on Xbox C. I'm thinking about playing FIFA C. It is so exciting. Final four, talk me through it. Chat GPT, aka Carter, what do we got, bro?
SPEAKER_01Well, uh, I mean, uh, you know, the highlights from the quarterfinals, France obviously beating Morocco 2-0.
SPEAKER_02Insane quarterfinals in general.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it was to be in the dude, multiple games. I mean, how extra time, a lot of drama. I mean, I was I was really hoping Norway was gonna pull it out. I was pretty sad to see them uh fall to England there. But yeah, no, I mean, ultimately we're left with uh four teams. We got Spain versus France tomorrow. I think at four o'clock. Who who would you take in that game?
SPEAKER_02Hold on, hold on. Name the four though.
SPEAKER_01It's Spain versus France, Argentina versus England. England, that's right.
SPEAKER_02Spain versus France. Alright. Controversial take. I like, and we have show notes, I can't look it up. Spain has this new guy, he's really good. He's like lefty, you're more I like Spain in this one. I don't know why. France was there last year, Argentina won in penalty kicks, and everyone says this is France's year, and they've looked amazing. I just think you never know. You have a hungry Spain, you have a great defense, and it's Spain.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they looked fantastic. It's Spain.
SPEAKER_02So, I mean, they played, I think they were playing in Miami. Like, I I they played great, and I don't know, see, what are you thinking? Are you thinking France or Spain?
SPEAKER_01I mean, it it's it's tough. I guess I I'd like to see Spain win. I just feel like France has been such a heavy favorite, even from the very beginning of the tournament, that it's just kind of, you know, you you always somewhat want to root for an underdog. I'm not calling Spain a major underdog or anything like that, but exactly. It just seems like it'd be too just scripted for France to run the gauntlet with them having so much hype.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and like me and the and the lady and the wife have been talking, we're always rooting on the the underdog. It's just a fun story, and in soccer, what I've realized is the games are close.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. I mean, it seems like every other one's going to penalty shootout, like it's it's been wild.
SPEAKER_02A one-zero game in soccer, like like when you're you're in the second half and it's one-zero, that's semi a blowout, they're semi right in it, like two zero, and then the team gets two one, and you're like, oh, they're right back in it. It's not like any other, you know. I I just I've loved watching it and seeing basically the classic teams are still the classic teams. England, Argentina, France, Spain, we've got all the semifinals. That's the final four. Realistically, this is Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky. Yeah, I mean, this is Blue Bud. Um, now I say all that, let's be honest, Dembuele and uh Mbappe.
SPEAKER_01Phenomenal phenomenal.
SPEAKER_02That's the best offense in the tournament.
SPEAKER_01It's hard for me to go stick against that. Yeah, from what I've seen, and yeah, I just I don't know. I I feel like France will come away with it.
SPEAKER_02The more hyped game to me is England Argentina.
SPEAKER_01Agreed.
SPEAKER_02That's you you don't know. Let let's be honest. France is probably favored in Spain. Like Spain. I don't know with Argentina, England.
SPEAKER_01No, I think it's a true toss-up. I mean, it's a true toss-up. Even every time you think they they've been in these tough situations, they've always found a way to pull it out, but then kind of same with Argentina, they have they've had multiple scares and they've came away victorious.
SPEAKER_02So dude, I looked up the England um Jude Bellingham, and I literally was like, this guy's the best soccer player, like I've I've seen, and like he's the the bet, he's so good. He's always scoring for England, and then I'm a big club soccer fan, so I typed in is Jude Bellingham one of the best midfielders in the world, and it just was like, Yes. He so apparently he's a top two to three forward slash midfielders in the world, the guy from England, if I didn't say it right. So it's Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.
SPEAKER_01Harry Kane is I'm a big fan of the case.
SPEAKER_02So, you know, it's Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham versus Messi. Messi. So that that's gonna be a great game. Now it's a classic World Cup Tuesday 3, Wednesday 3 p.m.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, of course, you know, right in the right in the middle of the work day. Yeah, I mean it's perfect.
SPEAKER_02So um, see, I I talked about this last time. I know we have longer storage on our sim card, but we've lost 91% of the listeners from last week. We did the soccer thing again, and it's fantasy football.
SPEAKER_01I I I try every week. It's hard not to. It's hard not to. With the World Cup being in the US, just a little something special.
SPEAKER_02With the intro, we did six minutes. So I think that's perfect.
Wide Receiver Rankings
SPEAKER_02Rest of the hour show, wide receivers.
SPEAKER_01Come on, Steve. Top 48 wide receiver rankings.
SPEAKER_02Now, let me tell you folks, before we just go into the wide receiver rank, there's three positions in fantasy football that you you hang your hat on, your lifeblood, everything rides on these positions. Quarterback, running back, wide receiver. We are going to do the correct running back rankings next week. We're going to do the quarterback, and then obviously we do the tight end.
SPEAKER_01Can't forget about the tight ends, too.
SPEAKER_02Defense kicker, just because we're we just we rank everything. But wide receiver rankings, I think, are the most important because you got it. It's either the starter and the handcuff or the uh you know two-back system. Wide receiver Jaden Reed could go off.
SPEAKER_01Dude, there's always someone on the waiver wire that catch your eye and you're like, okay, yeah. He could play this week.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yep. I could plug him in the flex spot, you know. Wide receiver is something you're looking at all year. Yeah. You know what I mean? See, like me and you, we've we're just looking at Kendrick Bourne. Like he's on the waiver wire. You don't have him, I don't have him. It's wide receiver. So it's fun to do a top 48 wide receiver.
SPEAKER_01And yeah, especially, you know, with a lot of them, they may not perform at a high level all season, but like there's every every season of football, I'd say at least like 10 of them that will go and have you know stretches of four or five games where it's just like double digits, double digits, double digits. Like it's if you can catch them early in that process, like that can be game changer for your fantasy team.
SPEAKER_02Wide receiver is Nvidia, the Apple, Microsoft. You hit the it you can hit an Alec Pierce run where it's six weeks of glory.
SPEAKER_01And that and that could be the difference in you making it to the championship or not.
SPEAKER_02Or wide receiver is a big, big goose, a big in a standard league, we'll have a 0.3. That means he got three yards.
SPEAKER_01Pretty much uh just crashing you for that week with any chance to win. Oh, yeah. It's the worst.
SPEAKER_02Everyone remembers the Tet McMillan run last year, played him in the finals, hit you with the 0.5. Oh one catch for five yards. Don't remind me. Um, so all right. First 48. The running back, the wide receiver rankings. Oh my gosh, we're here. See, we're a month out from draft season. Let's go.
SPEAKER_01Thank God.
SPEAKER_02Who's the number one? You're the ranker, you're the chat GPT guy. Talk to me. The computer. See, let's go.
SPEAKER_01Number one overall, Jamar Chase. Oh, Chase. We're back here. He's just I feel like every year he kind of solidifies himself as to why you'd be confident taking him as the first receiver off the board.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. I mean, healthy Jamar Chase is unstoppable best receiver in the NFL. Yeah. I mean, see what you like all around.
SPEAKER_01He's got the breakaway speed, the just insane hands, catching ability. He can do he can do everything. And when you've got Joe Burrow throwing you the ball, that's a dangerous combination.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And I don't like um ranking a guy number one that hasn't necessarily done it. Yeah. Chase has been wide receiver one like twice. Oh, yeah? Like two or three times.
SPEAKER_00He has a track record, yeah. He can back it up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so it's justified. Who comes in at number two on the computer?
unknownPuka.
SPEAKER_02Puka Nakua. Yep. Yep. The old waiver wire darling from three years ago is.
SPEAKER_01I will say, dude, in my dynasty league, picked him up off of waivers. Because he was, you know, obviously no name, didn't have a lot of hype coming out of college. Picked him up off waivers. And now I have him on my dynasty team for the next eight years, however long he's still gonna be.
SPEAKER_02That's gonna be a nice dynasty run. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, he picked up that was it was it was diamond in the rough for sure.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, I well, I mean, seeing Puka number uh to uh uh Puka Nakua number two, by the way. Side note, see on our first listen back, we dropped our first episode. Every other sentence I say I mean, and I want to apologize to the listeners. I was like, I mean Puka, I mean Nakua, I mean, I mean, so I'm sorry, still getting the rust off being a podcaster. Um, it's good to see Puka Nakua here because you knew that he had the talent, but you don't get ranked next to Jamar Chase number two overall in fantasy football if you haven't done it, like we just talked about with Jamar Chase. He was like a couple yards off of wide receiver one last year. He put up 1800 yards.
SPEAKER_01He, I mean he's a beast, he's just so strong.
SPEAKER_02He's like such a good route runner, yeah, he's so tough over the middle. And how many times does he leave the game and come back?
SPEAKER_01You think he's hurt and you're panicking? Yeah, no, he's he's durable.
SPEAKER_02If you're in a PPR league, you could take him number one overall. And I wouldn't like you can go B. John Gibbs, Chase, or you can go Puka.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I mean he's he's he's backed it up. I mean, hell, he's just one of those rare specimens that man, he's anytime, anytime he's in a game, you're thinking, okay, this guy can score.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like anytime.
SPEAKER_02Yep. So, alright, moving on. Hey, hey, see, you're you're gonna move us through. You move us through.
SPEAKER_01Alright, moving to number three. He kind of had his breakout year last season. I'm thinking you're pretty familiar with him. Jackson Smith and Jigbo.
SPEAKER_02JSN, man. He did it last year. We got him in the third round. If you had JSN, you won leaks. I mean, it it's pretty much that simple. The only thing you're worried about this year is new offensive coordinator. True. Kubiak's in Vegas. JSN. I mean, do you want to think they keep the same offense?
SPEAKER_01I mean, I would hope so, considering they're just coming off of a Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_02I I think let's be real. JSN's the last guy where if you took him number one overall, I wouldn't look at you insane. He was amazing last year.
SPEAKER_00He was.
SPEAKER_02Sam Darnold has I mean, they've got Rashid Shahid, they've got Cooper Cup.
SPEAKER_01I feel like Shahid's, you know, more like that deep ball. He'll get the two catches for the city.
SPEAKER_02I feel like you can pencil in 165 targets, 123 catches, and 1600 yards for JSN. Relatively easy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I agree. Fully agree. I think that's kind of the uh the expectation now after last season. Alright, take us through. Number four. Amonra St. Brown.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I like Amon Ra here at four. I really do. Because when you think about it, you got the guys behind him. This is who we got in tier one, is it goes Amon Ra, CeeDee Lamb, Jefferson, right? And these are the correct rankings of ADP average draft position. I think that makes sense. Amon Raw has shown he's finished as wide receiver three or four for the last couple years. I think we got to give him that nudge over CeeDee Lamb right now and over Justin Jefferson. He's just so consistent.
SPEAKER_01He is.
SPEAKER_02You never ever have below 15 points in fantasy football.
SPEAKER_01Well, and especially if it's PPR. Yeah, you know, he's getting 10 catches a game. Oh, yeah. So even if he doesn't score a touchdown, 10 catches for 80 yards.
SPEAKER_02It's just do you want to have the slant guy in Detroit? Yeah. You do that place in the don't.
SPEAKER_01You do. Yeah. You definitely do. Even with, you know, he's got uh Jameer Gibbs and Jameson Williams, Sam Laporte. I mean, he's got a bunch of other talented people on the team, but if anything, I view that as a benefit because it just means the defenses are always having to try and pinpoint, you know, other threats on the field, and that just leaves St. Brown open.
SPEAKER_02He's always open. CeeDee Lamb at five. I like Lamb at five. Just because it's Dallas, man. They're gonna throw the ball.
SPEAKER_01They sling it. Dex and you know, 50-60 passes.
SPEAKER_02You know, like when you got an offense that just lives in shotgun, like it's just so fun to have the Cowboys in fantasy football.
SPEAKER_01And it was it was cool just seeing the dynamic last year with George Pickens in the picture. Yep. It's just like what are defenses gonna do?
SPEAKER_02What's funny is now the reason why we're laughing about it, it's gotten to the point that Pickens came and it didn't take away from Pickens or Lamb. Now we know that's an ecosystem of throwing yards. Like if you go there, Ferguson, Jalen Tolbert, um, all these guys that have been you know had great games. If you're a receiver on Dallas, that's why Pickens we'll be naming Pickens in the as well. Yeah, it's coming up soon. I mean yeah, so it didn't take away, they like multiplied, and so it's fun to have the Cowboys this year. I like Lamb at five. You are worried about the Pickens thing, but yeah, I mean it's CD Lamb.
SPEAKER_01Well, and from the one year that we that we've got to base it off of, it seems like that offense can easily support two top nines.
SPEAKER_02This hey, this next guy, I'm gonna start taking us through. See, because I I need to talk about some of the we we need to have the Justin Jefferson conversation. This is the year.
SPEAKER_01You think this is the year he's he's coming back?
SPEAKER_02No, this is the year we have to do it. Last year, I get my feelings hurt when you have a really bad season. I took Justin Jefferson in a lot of leagues last year. And wide receiver 31, wide receiver four, it killed fantasy football teams.
SPEAKER_01It was it was a stretch.
SPEAKER_02Kyler, this has to be the savior, man. I need top five this year because I'm you're getting Jefferson if you got the 10th pick.
SPEAKER_01You're gonna be stuck in that position where it's like you're gonna feel like an idiot if you pass on him. But then there's you know the risk of all right, well, I'm depending on Kyler Murray to lead my fantasy team.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, let's be honest, I'm going Devane. Oh, that's another thing I said a lot on the first season. Let's be honest. But let's be honest, A-chan, Chase Brown, I'm taking all those over Jefferson because I'm a running back guy, but it's the wide receiver rankings thing. I just wanted to make the point that I think we're at that railroad tracks.
SPEAKER_01If he has another gear like last season, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, did something happen where we miss? I think Justin Jefferson is over Puka and him and Jamar Chase are the best receivers in the NFL.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, talent-wise. He just he's in that unfortunate situation. He doesn't have the QB.
SPEAKER_02That's where I'm at. I'm like, I hope Kyler Murray can, but everyone knows, and Devon A Chan's sitting there at pick 10, and it's A-Chan or Jefferson, it gets tough.
SPEAKER_01I I think I'd definitely have to go with the case.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, of course. Um, all right, all right, tier two. Tickets in the tier two. Tier two is where it gets fun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, because you know, everyone in the tier one, you can move around the numbers.
SPEAKER_02It starts to get debatable starting in tier two.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. So for tier two, starting us off at number seven. AJ Brown. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It makes sense.
SPEAKER_01I like it. I'm I'm I have very high hopes for where he landed in with the Patriots. I just I don't know. I think Drake May's an amazing quarterback, and now that he's gonna have AJ Brown, just a specimen. Like the dude's a monster, and he can you know bulldoze anyone, but also easily break a hundred yards a game if he's getting the targets for it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean it's it's AJ, Drake May, he's back with Rabel. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's a great fit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, I I would if you took AJ Brown at the one two target. And you went A Chan AJ Brown. I wouldn't say a thing. 13 overall in your fantasy football draft. It's AJ Brown with Drake May. So I I don't think it's crazy to have him at seven overall in the rankings. Um, you know, and AJ Brown last year, a lot of people thought, man, AJ, it was a really tough season with Jalen Hurts. He was wide receiver 11.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, that that is true. I I forget that because I just feel like, oh man, like he's he's not doing enough, and then he still did really well. He he did very well. I mean, he finished like Joe said, I mean, 11th, 11th place.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's so now he's got Drake May, so seven overall is not crazy. Drake London.
SPEAKER_01I'm a big Drake London guy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, you are. You've always been the big Drake London guy.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I I just he's an he's an amazing athlete, obviously. Big dude, can catch the high ball, physical, but he's also I know he's got Bijan on the team, but outside of outside of that, like who on the Falcons offense is gonna be taking targets away from Drake London?
SPEAKER_02Drake London is 150 targets, and if you go got 150 targets penciled in, that's a top 10 receiver in fantasy football. There's not that many guys where you can say, okay, whether it's Tua or Michael Pennix, they're gonna hike the ball and throw it to Drake London 150 times this year. If he's healthy, well, and that's what was so brutal 12 target guy.
SPEAKER_01That's what was so brutal about last season was he was on his hot streak, and then he what I think he suffered a knee injury or something, and he ended up missing like five or six games.
SPEAKER_02He was a big what could have been guy last year because I think he was wide receiver five.
SPEAKER_01Oh, he was he was on a tear and just for him to you know get hurt, but for that long, and it was relatively early on into the season. That sucked. I I can tell you personally, like I had him on multiple teams and no, you were rolling because you got him in like the third or fourth round, like starting out going, you know, four and one, five and oh. And then you're destroyed, and then that happens on top, you know, other things just because it's fantasy, but yeah, that that that's tough to that's tough to replace. I definitely think eight or hell, you can make a case to potentially take him over AJ.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's like Drake London. I've never liked getting him, and every time I don't draft him, I'm like, man, Drake London is really good. It's just one of those guys where he's always in the second or third round, and you know, kind of feels like, uh, am I reaching? I don't I don't want to take him too early, but then yeah, when he has a start like last season, you you feeling damn right in that tier where it's like, do you take him at 2.4, like with your second pick with all these people on the lines? And I've I've not been it, but I love it. It's Tua, it's whatever offensive coordinator they have, it's B. John Pitts and Drake London. They've had three fantasy football players for as long as we can remember. I mean, it it is what it is. Nico. Nico Collins at nine overall in our wide receiver rankings. Do I like Nico at nine overall? Yes. He's finished as a top 10 receiver, he's an absolute beast. Do you feel good just like we were talking about with Drake London drafting Nico Collins? It worries you. We've had a couple injuries, they've got Jaden Higgins, they've got uh Jalen Noel, they got, you know, the best defense, they got David Montgomery, they want to run the ball. I love Nico Collins, but it's one of those things where it's scary drafting them.
SPEAKER_01It is, and I'm not I'm not fully sold on Stroud either. So I mean that to me, just going back to Jefferson, it's like you can be the best wide receiver in the world, but when you don't have a competent quarterback that's able to deliver the ball to you like they're supposed to, it it can have a major impact. So yeah, I mean I I I wouldn't necessarily be mad about uh having Nico on my team, he's a hell of a player. It's just pretty dependent on where you're able to snag him. Number 10, we've got George Pickens. I am thrilled to get him at 10, honestly. Yeah. Oh yeah. I don't think he'll fall that far. But man, he he just he fit in so well with Dallas's offense. Dex, yeah, Dex just either sling it to CD or Pickens. But I feel like most games they they both would usually go off. Yeah, just kind of how it seemed.
SPEAKER_02But if you're excited to draft George Pickens this year, absolutely. If you draft George Pickens, you are excited. He was the top six receiver last year, and he was third overall in yards. George Pickens, he's on the franchise tag. George Pickens wants to get the largest wide receiver contract in NFL history. George Pickens is going to go off this year. I will draft. I I'm not kidding. I'm taking Pickens over all these guys. I'm taking Pickens over Amon Ra, and then it's Pickens to me. Like, once we get to Lamb Jefferson, I I who would you rather have CeeDee Lamb or George Pickens? George Pickens is going insane. Now I say that we have to we have to give CeeDee Lamb that ranking over Pickens. We have to give Justin Jefferson. AJ Brown has been there, Nico Collins. The reason I say it is because George Pickens showed last year, he is in the upper, upper echelon of receivers. He is mentioned just below Chase and Puka. Like it's not really George Pickens in the Steelers, six targets, he makes an amazing catch. No, he was leaping over people last year. He was stiff arming them, he had 1800 yards, he had like 15 touchdowns. Without Lamb, he was like wide receiver one for three weeks in a row. George Pickens showed last year he may get four years, 195 million. I mean, that's the trajectory he's going. So I'm a big Pickens guy. It's just you got to understand it might not pan out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I mean I'm sure there'll be weeks where CD's gonna go off and Pickens may have a bit of a lesser game, but there's also gonna be weeks where Pickens is the main guy and CD doesn't get as much. So that would be the only concern I have, but I'm I'm pretty confident that knowing how much Dallas will throw the ball, they can support you.
SPEAKER_02This next this next guy, it's good to see him here at 11. Devontae Smith. Devontae Smith at 11. See, that's huge.
SPEAKER_01That's a big jump for him. I mean, I know with AJ Brown departing, like he definitely should get an uptick. That's 100 100% valid. I'm sure I'll be willing to go after him in some of these leagues. It's just he's definitely gonna be one of those guys where it's like I'd much prefer to get him as a a later steal per se, as opposed to reaching and taking him.
SPEAKER_02And he's a fun guy this year where you don't really know where he's gonna get drafted. Yeah. He could go in the third round or the fifth round. It just kind of depends on the league mates that you're with. And if you get Devontae Smith in your in the fifth round and he's like your wide receiver three, you're chilling because you got Puka or Ch and Devontae Smith, and he ends up being top ten. Um, I like it. It's just that's the classic Eagles, man. Yeah, it's Saquon, offensive line, it's Hurts getting the I mean AJ's gone. Don't get me wrong. We got Mikhae Lemon. Um, you gotta think Devontae Smith is good for 1700 this yards this year, 12 touchdowns.
SPEAKER_01It'll be interesting to see how he performs being the wide receiver one of his team. Yep, because now defenses are gonna be completely zoning in on him. They don't pay Brown to kind of distract in a way.
SPEAKER_02So it it comes with a it comes with a lot being the wide receiver one. You get the cornerback one of every team. Yeah, so rounding out rounding out this tier, wide receiver ones, we gotta put him here. He's always gonna have a crazy offseason, that's all I'll say. Rashi Rice. He's shown it, man. When he's on the field, he's a top 12 receiver.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, he's he's definitely got the talent. Uh man, he's just he's he's such a wild card. You never know. You never know if you're gonna check ESPN on Wednesday. Knowing, you know, hey, Chiefs, they got a Thursday night game, and you find out that he's been arrested. So do that with what you will. If you can get him late, I I'd be thrilled with it. But he is uh he is kind of a wild card. Yeah, that's how it categorizes.
SPEAKER_02No, no, he it's it's uh you said it. Uh Alave at 13. I love Chris Olave on the New Orleans Saints. I'm so pumped. I'm in love with it. I'm in love with everything about the Saints, but we know this. See. Chris Olave is always one concussion away from being out for the year. It's the New Orleans Saints. And Olave's a guy where the years we aren't in on him, he balls out. Yes. Yes. Uh we all come back. We come back to the Chris Olave train. We get him.
SPEAKER_01He lets you down.
SPEAKER_02He lets you down. I remember the Derek Carr year. No, no one wants to talk about so everyone. So this year, Olave is wide receiver 13. I'm drafting Olave as wide receiver nine. I love Olave. That's what I did two years ago. And Derek Carr let me down. You remember throwing the ball out of bounds, screaming at Olave. I was like, Derek Carr, he's wide open. I was talking to Matt. I was like, dude, he's wide open. He's throwing it out. So it's like, bro, I love Chris Olave. Yes, the wide receiver 13, but you like all these guys, you gotta know what you're getting into.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes. No, they've they've all they all at this point they come with a little baggage.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Once you get probably screwed you in the past, you know, you you banked on them being a cornerstone of your team, and they just let you down.
SPEAKER_02But once you get into wide receiver twos, it starts to get oh like there's always keep us going down the list.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay. Well, moving on to 14, we got Zay Flowers with the Ravens.
SPEAKER_02I don't do this to me. I can't.
SPEAKER_01I don't know, man. It's it's I wouldn't love it. I wouldn't I wouldn't be happy about it. I mean, it's it just kind of it is what it is. I know he's he's solid, but there's nothing that's jumping out at you like, okay, this is gonna, this is gonna be my guy. Like he is gonna help lead my team to victory.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, dude. I love Zay Flowers, but it's like something of something happens. Like, I don't know. I don't get it.
SPEAKER_01Bro, it's funny I'm saying this and uh and I'm seeing, you know, he finished his wide receiver seven last year.
SPEAKER_02See, that's the thing about fantasy football right there. You see how we were just talking about Zay? Zay's been balling out for two years. He's wide receiver 14, and me and you are looking at each other like, ah, just wouldn't be happy with him. Oh, I can't do the Zay Flowers thing again. All right, hey, keeping it moving, keeping it moving. T. Higgins at 15, dude. I there's nothing better than a good T Higgins.
SPEAKER_01He's he's always he's just always reliable, man. I don't know. It's just he finished wide receiver 12 last year. Very solid, especially for talking, getting him as the 15th ranked off the board. Um yeah, no. I mean, I guess the only thing with him, he's sometimes got uh injury concerns, but it's football. I mean, who doesn't? It's just part of the game. So T.
SPEAKER_02Higgins, Jamar Chase, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens. It's the most exciting fantasy football players you can have.
SPEAKER_01And they have the quarterbacks to make it possible.
SPEAKER_02Your opponent that you're playing that week has to see like Bangles. Um let's just throw, I don't know, throw out a name, Bangles Jets at 425 in Cincinnati. And you're looking at T. Higgins and you're like for first drive. Okay, they're on the seven. Joe Burrow throws a jump ball. Yep, that's number five. T. Higgins. Touchdown. Touchdown. Okay, he's got three three for 40 and a touchdown. Okay, you're like, it's it's Chase. Chase. Boom. T. Higgins goes for 11, 170, and two. But you know how it is. The reason he goes in the third round. T. Higgins has got a classic injury that as a fantasy football player, you pray. There's a website that monitors professional athletes' hamstrings like hamstring, you know, index.com because professional athletes, if you have hamstring, it lingers for your entire career. So T. Higgins is gonna give you 21 points, 19 points, 17, and he's gonna give you another 24. And that Wednesday, it's gonna say Q. Questionable.
SPEAKER_01Wait, wait, wait. He looked perfect. He ended the game, like no problem. He wasn't limping.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yep. And then it's gonna say two weeks, and then it's gonna be four. And that's the T. Higgins experience, man. We just went through it roundabout. Is you get 27 fantasy points and he's out four weeks with a hammy.
SPEAKER_01It's it's brutal, but it's probably something I'll be I'll be targeting. Yeah, unfortunately. But maybe this is the year he he gets through on skate.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, hey, wide receiver 16. I don't know why. This just made me chuckle. Who is it, see?
SPEAKER_01Lad McConkey. At 16.
SPEAKER_02I I'm not there yet.
SPEAKER_01I'm not either, dude. I I took him last year, I took him early, and then he burned people, dude. I'm not drafting them this year. You're out. I'm out on him.
SPEAKER_02You're out? Oh man. And you're like a pretty accepting loving guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, no, I I usually am, but like, you know, when when I take you second round. Second round was that. Yeah, I think it was late second. And you do that. I mean, he's wide receiver 29. It was it was pathetic.
SPEAKER_02He didn't hurt lineups last year, he destroyed them.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it would just every every game I'd need him. Hey, he'd finish with six or eight.
SPEAKER_02We're not talking about and why you need to let go of your PTSD. Miami Mike has come to LA and he said, Carter, I know what you went through. Do you remember Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill? And that's what we're all banking on, man. It's not the T. Higgins from Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh. We're not we're not doing that. It's Miami Mike, it's a Marion Hanton, Ladd McConkey to the moon. I personally also had a team where I drafted Ladd early. That's why I can't get there. But it's like Devontae Smith. If he falls, I love him in the fifth round. Yeah, or the fourth round.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. If you get if you can get him for a deal, like then that's one thing.
SPEAKER_02I don't love Ladd in three. I don't either. Um, all right, moving on. Uh, ChatGPT actually says this is tier three. We are in tier three upside wide receiver two selection. Shout out to Chat GPT.
SPEAKER_01Shout out ChatGPT. We love you. Uh we got a Mecca Igbuka.
SPEAKER_02Amecca. Hmm.
SPEAKER_01I'm a believer. I'm a believer in a Gbuka. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You're in your you're getting a Mecca Buka ticket.
SPEAKER_01Mike Evans out of the picture. Yep. Yeah, I know they got Chris Godwin, who's he's a beast when healthy, but he's kind of getting up there in age. Eggbuka's the future for them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. There was a stretch last year. The only thing that I get freaked out about is it was touchdowns. That's what no one talks about. And it frustrates me on the 100,000 fantasy football podcast I listens to is he had a lot of touchdowns.
SPEAKER_01And there's always touchdown regressions.
SPEAKER_02So they got Jalen McMillan, they got a guy they drafted, but you got to think Mike Evans is out of town. They drafted him in the first round last year. New offensive coordinator, Zach Johnson, from uh from uh the Falcons, and he got Drake London. So you gotta think it's a Mecca Buka season, cash or ticket, go to the bank, you know, take out a loan on your house, and and it's just a Mecca Buka season. But I don't know. We haven't seen it. We saw a flash of greatness that was primarily four catches, 68 yards, and two touchdowns. Now, if we get a full season of eight for 91 and a touchdown, and then the next game, he has 10 targets, eight catches for 72 yards. And you're like, wait, there's a floor here, he gets 10 targets a game. We gotta see it. Mike Evans is out of town. I love the Omeka Buka train. I'm on it, but I haven't gotten on it. I ran to the front. I'm on it, hanging on the side, I'm ready to jump off.
SPEAKER_01That's that's a good analogy. I like it.
SPEAKER_0218.
SPEAKER_01Oh man. 18. Another heartbreak. Wow. Yeah. Here we go. Malik Neighbors.
SPEAKER_02I like it. I like it.
SPEAKER_01I do too. I mean, you know, he's had plenty of time to heal from his injury. Um Jackson Dart continues to improve. And yeah, I mean, I just think if Neighbors is healthy, there's there's nothing holding him back. He's gonna have a great quarterback potentially. But I mean, he's he's proven he's when healthy, he's a wide receiver one. It's just we don't know what we're gonna be getting out the gate with him.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's been an up and down offseason. We had the knee injury, it was very gruesome, very graphic. There was a lot of things, and then he was in a softball charity tournament, and you're like, okay, but there was a limp. And then he showed up to the facility for OTAs, and they said they had to do another surgery. We didn't know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's never that's that's never.
SPEAKER_02I personally believe Malik Neighbors is gonna start out the four weeks on the pup list, physically unable to perform, and then week five. That's why I'm not here. I think this injury was very tough. It's been a very grueling there, like rehab. I think he starts week five. Now, starting in week five, I like that. I just wish he would fall. Right now, you gotta get if if he's ready for week one, I just think that's rushing back. It was week five, week six, first game with Jackson Dart, and I mean he tore his ACL. It was just it was bad, man. It was so sad, it was so sad because you knew Jackson Dart and him were gonna be amazing. So this year, the only thing I will say is you got the knee injury, and then let me name two names. I I'm serious here. This is not good for Dark. Or neighbors. Matt Nagy, offensive coordinator. Yeah, you remember the Bears. Bears to the Chiefs. Offensive consultant, Greg Roman. Head coach Jim Harbaugh. You just heard what happened to Lab McConkey with Greg Roman. Back in the Ravens days, they were running two fullbacks, running Henry. Remember Tyler Huntley and Lamar Jackson? So if we think Malik Neighbors' play callers got better from Brian Dayball to Matt Nagy and Greg Roman, no. People don't look into this stuff and then they get neighbors and they're like, wait, what what?
SPEAKER_01Well, it's gonna be he's got the big name. Yeah. Even though he's young, he's he came in with so much hype and he did play well, but last year just kind of threw things off a little bit.
SPEAKER_02He's also a classic guy where Malik Neighbors is one of everyone's favorite players. Yeah. So I would get neighbors in the second round and just tell people like, hey, I I got Malik Neighbors.
SPEAKER_01That's the thing, dude. I mean, having him at 18, I just feel like I I definitely expect there'll probably be people reaching for him.
SPEAKER_02And that's what a lot of people don't understand. When you have fantasy football and it's a draft and you're at Buffalo Wild Wings, who are you gonna draft when it's Tetaroa McMillan or Malik Neighbors? You're gonna draft Malik neighbors and the guy's gonna draft neighbors and be like, dude, I totally didn't realize she's not putting a week five. You know, it's just a classic. So um, all right, but speaking of Tet, I'm so sorry for the the he led me to a championship last year because you got him in like round 10, Teterrow and McMillan from Arizona. You didn't know what he was gonna give us last year, and he honestly gave us greatness, dude.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, finishes wide receiver 15. Wide receiver 15, hell of a rookie campaign.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I love Teterrow and McMillan. I think he's one of the best receivers in the NFL. He can do it all. He's fast, he's got great route running, he's 6'4, he runs. The only problem is it's the Carolina Panthers, it's Bryce Young with Dave Canalis, the coach that loves to run the ball, David Tepper, the owner, which got the you know who knows what off sea the offseason has sprung, and then you have Bryce Young, who was playing for his job and bench for Andy Dalton two years ago. So do you take Tet and say, hey, I won my league. I have Tet. No, last year we got Tetteroa McMillan in the ninth round. Now you get Tedaroa McMillan in the fourth round, and it's like I don't know, you know, like is Tet going to be a wide receiver one this year? I don't know. See, I do not know. All I know is if you had him last year, you're back in. I saw greatness. I saw when Bryce Young was rolling out, a guy that resembled Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson, the modern day version. But do you look if Tet is your best receiver on your team and you're playing the your buddy and he has a Monra St. Brown? You're not.
SPEAKER_01I'm not confident. I'm not confident in that matchup.
SPEAKER_02So that's the thing about Tet is he's great.
SPEAKER_01I think he'll be a great wide receiver too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's gotta. I I want to go heavy wide receiver and wide receiver three. I like him as two. It's just man, he they've got some games, man. Well, they'll just run Chubba Hubbard.
SPEAKER_01I mean, and I don't blame him. I don't blame him at all, dude. Well, moving on to number 20, we got Garrett Wilson. Out. Out.
SPEAKER_02No. I'm in on Garrett Wilson out of the Jets. I'm in on Garrett Wilson out of the Jets. I can't I can't get there with Gino, man. I want to believe the Gino comeback story to the Jets. He played for them 10 years ago.
SPEAKER_01It just seems like Jets. I mean, I hate to put them in the same comparison as the Browns, but it's tough, man. It's tough. You just you you see these great players on teams like that, and you know that they've got so much to give, but man, their teams are they're just terrible.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Garrett Wilson is a classic, really talented on the Jets.
SPEAKER_01Bad situation.
SPEAKER_02And then you know what I've realized that also leads to like injuries. You know, there's games like you can't count on a player on the Jets because when he does good, they're like tanking, or the next week they just completely change the game script, and you know, all right, well, we threw it all last week, we're gonna run it all.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're not pre-sall.
SPEAKER_02They're two and ten. So the fantasy football player you have is on the team, it's two and ten, they're down 21-0, and Garrett Wilson's on the sideline, and he's fully healthy. That's the problem. If Garrett Wilson was on the Chiefs or the Lions or the Bills, he'd be drafted top 10. Easily. So, I mean, it just it hurts to see him at wide receiver 20, but I can't even get there.
SPEAKER_01It's it's it's tough. It's tough having confidence in the tough, man.
SPEAKER_02Because I I had him last year. I traded for him, just instantly tanked, didn't win the league. Thanks, Matt. Thanks, Matt. The Josh Jacobs for Garrett Wilson trade didn't work out. Oh no. Yeah, yeah, you remember it. See, I don't want to talk about it. Uh, number 21. This this is where 21 on. It gets it's insanity. Luther Burden, the third, I believe. It doesn't say it on Chat GPT. 21 for the Bears. He's the first ranked receiver for the Bears. I love it. It's he's in the Monra St. Brown role with the with the Bears. Yeah. With Ben Johnson, see.
SPEAKER_01Caleb Williams looked a hell of a lot better last year.
SPEAKER_02Yep. I mean, I like it. It's just weird taking him over some, you know, Garrett Wilson. You know, Garrett Wilson has been one of the best receivers, and like that's where you take him. It's like Garrett Wilson or Luther Burden.
SPEAKER_01Well, not to mention when we look at who's at number 22, I would I wouldn't never pick Luther Burden over Luther Will.
SPEAKER_02You have to pick Luther Burden over Mike Evans at 22 and Garrett Wilson at 20. No. That's the tough part about having him here. It's all this offseason hype, and all of a sudden, Luther Burden, you gotta draft him around Mike Evans and sandwiched him between these two big name receivers, and moving on to number 22.
SPEAKER_01I just Mike Evans with the 49ers, I think I think that's gonna be great. Given the 49ers, they do tend to have a bunch of weapons, but I don't know. I think even though he is old, he's still got he's still got some gas in the tank.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. I mean, it's gosh, I said I mean again, I'm working on it. Mike Evans is going to go nuclear this year. We just don't know um like how long it's gonna last.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it'll be hard to pinpoint.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's gonna be like six catches, 93 yards, two touchdowns. And you plug them right in, and Kittle comes back, and you're like, oh, well, okay, it's Kittle. It's Kittle season, and then they're gonna be running McCaffrey, and then Jake Tonges is gonna score, and then you're gonna snap. It's a run first offense with George Kittle, but it's Mike Evans with Brock Purdy on the Niners.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you gotta think they're gonna utilize him.
SPEAKER_02I'll I'll be completely real. I'm taking Mike Evans over Luther Burden, Garrett Wilson, Tedaro McMillan, neighbors and a Buka, and McConkey. No problem.
SPEAKER_01It's Mike Evans, but hamstrings, ankles, oh yeah, shoulder and it started, it's it's start his age is really starting to show. Yep. So that's definitely something to keep in mind if you're taking Gosh!
SPEAKER_02See, fantasy football is back. We're deep in a ranking site a month out from drafts, and they're scheduled on our phone. The dates are scheduled. We're debating Mike Evans. We got through World Cup, we got through NBA finals, we're debating Mike Evans at 22. We're here. We're back. We are back. 23. Scary Terry McLaurin. Love it.
SPEAKER_01I love it too. I think he's he's due for a big bounce back here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this is that steal. You get Terry, you get Terry. Oh, you got a commander's receiver. Oh my gosh, I have Tet. You have Terry. Okay. Jaden Daniels. He was hurt all year last year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, and that's what people, it's like, what do you expect Terry to do? He's he's playing with a backup quarterback.
SPEAKER_02Marcus Mariota. I'm sorry. Yeah. Sorry, Terry.
SPEAKER_01Who's a rushing quarterback? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So it's Terry's season, it's Jaden Daniels season, but we're getting to the round of guys where they could completely tank your roster. Because also Terry's a classic guy. You do not take him out. You're not taking Terry out to put in Josh Downs, and Terry could destroy Lyon's tier.
SPEAKER_01And he has. He has.
SPEAKER_02He has hurt Lyps bad. All right. All right. The last of the tier, the last of the wide receiver twos. It feels good to say this guy that he just squeaked in here. Because I would have been sad if he fell to the next TRC.
SPEAKER_01Same. And he's also one of those that may have burned you in the past. Who is it? Jalen Waddle. Jalen.
SPEAKER_02We're back in.
SPEAKER_01Now with the Broncos. So change in scenery. I think I think it's going to be good for him. I mean just given the, you know, how they how he was being used with the Dolphins, it wasn't I don't think up to up to his skill set. And I I'm hopeful that the Broncos will see that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's Jalen Waddle season, it's Bonex and Sean Payton. Just him at wide receiver 24 is so perfect. Because he could be wide receiver 44, or he could be wide receiver nine.
SPEAKER_01He's he's one of those good and you're in the fifth round.
SPEAKER_02See, yeah. No, you look around, you see, hey David Montgomery. Hey DeAndre Swift. Hey, hey Mike Evans. I'm gonna take the Jalen Waddle plunge. And man, it's I've taken it many a year. I just I love having Waddle. The Penguin 17. I don't know what number he's wearing for the Broncos and see. It's Waddle season. It's mile high. Denver Broncos, Sean Payton, Jalen Waddle. What could go wrong?
SPEAKER_03Famous Osworth.
SPEAKER_02And now, wide receiver threes. Yes, yes. Woo! We've made it to wide receiver threes, man.
SPEAKER_01It's gonna be the high value plays, or you know, more likely probably duds, but this is where leagues are won.
SPEAKER_02Yes, it's where there's always a couple.
SPEAKER_01There's always a couple.
SPEAKER_02Listen to these names, and you get them in the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth rounds. You win leagues. Here we go. 25, Jamison Williams, 26, Devontae Adams, 27, DJ Moore, 28, Christian Watson, 29, Carnell Tate, 30, Rom Adunze. Let's talk about that tier. Talk about that tier. First and foremost, it's Jameson Williams season.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, I out of all the names you just you just listed off. I'd Jameson and Devontae, they they pop out at me. Yeah. Not just, you know, being there 25 to 26, but I think they're the most talented.
SPEAKER_02They're they're in that next tier. They're with Devontae Smith, and you know, they're below pickings, but they're with Tetaroa McMillan and Mike Evans and Garrett Wilson. It's Devontae Adams and Jameson Williams.
SPEAKER_01They can be realistic.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Realistically, that wide receiver tier starts at DJ Moore. Because Devontae Adams and Jamison Williams were wide receiver ones last year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, what? Jamison was wide receiver 10 and Adams was wide receiver eight.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So I mean, they're they're in tier two. Tier three starting at DJ Moore on the Bills is insane. I love it. DJ on the Bills. Carter, I'm in. Everyone's out. I am in.
SPEAKER_01I'm in. I I'm we touched on it a little last week. I just I don't know. I feel like now that Josh Allen's got himself a big body to throw to and someone that can catch. I feel like DJ's he's got the potential. Yeah. He's got the potential to definitely outperform his ADP.
SPEAKER_02For sure. And it's like, we don't think Josh Allen is going to want to like DJ Moore to have a good season. It's Josh Allen. He's gonna know that they're making comparisons to digs and DJ Moore. He's gonna get DJ Moore the ball. The problem is if no one understands the Bills' offense is run first and they play four receivers when they play, and it's scramble ball when it's Josh Allen. It's not that he's not looking for DJ Moore. They run James Cook a lot. They run Ty Johnson, Ty Johnson, Ray Davis, then they run Josh Allen, and then they throw a little out route to Dawson Knox, and then they throw another little slant to Dalton Kincaid, and then somehow Gabe Davis is back on the team. That's the problem with the Bills. It's not that he doesn't look for DJ Moore. Why DJ Moore is wide receiver 27 and not wide receiver 12 is you have to worry about those guys.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes. Every week, I mean the Bills, they just tend to be kind of tough to uh pinpoint from the wide wide receiver. It's like the Chiefs who's gonna go like go off this week. It's a competition.
SPEAKER_02It's like the Chiefs. You never know who's gonna score. Yes.
SPEAKER_01It's it can be frustrating, but you know, I especially this this far into the rankings, DJ Moore being at 27. I I feel like that's good value.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're getting the Bills' best receiver with Josh Allen at wide receiver
The Bird
SPEAKER_0227, wide receiver 28 is where it gets extremely interesting. Christian Watson on the Packers. I'm in taking the train, uh, the bird, Fulton, Chris Fulton, my mentor, my fantasy mentor. I'm shouting him out right now. Me and him have been getting Christian Watson for five years, and it is the funniest experience. We dropped him, uh, the bird picks him up, his fantasy team name's the bird. He picks him up, he gets him, the Watson goes off, he gets hurt. He's always hurt for like four to eight weeks. But a Christian Watson, a good Christian Watson game, there's nothing better.
SPEAKER_00See, he's yeah, he's he's a he's a freak athlete.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you just gotta know the fantasy football season is 14 regular season games. He will only give you seven. 50% of the game. Maybe, maybe it's a seven, maybe, and then we're going from there. 29, that's disgusting. You tell chat GPT, Carnell Tate. I know there's some OG vets that we have him over, but let's have the Carnell Tate conversation. I'm in. I I'm there, but it's just it's the Titans.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's risky. I mean, if Cam Ward can take a step in the right direction, then it could very well pay off. Um, it's just yeah, it's it's very difficult trusting anyone on the Titans.
SPEAKER_02You know what's funny is in camp uh in OTAs, there's been rumblings of Calvin Ridley, Calvin Ridley um voice crack there because I'm just so excited. It's Calvin Ridley, it's Eric Maynor, it's uh Chimeri DK, and it's Carnell Tate. But if you take someone four overall, you gotta think Brian Dayball and Robert Salah want to get Carnell Tate involved. Absolutely. Um Ward and Carnell Tate is the classic. You get hyped up about them, you never know. I'm in. It's Brian Dayball. I mean, oh no, oh my gosh. I'm I'm so sorry. See, I'm out. I'm out. A name, and I want to shout out uh big Cade. He knows who he is. Wandell Robinson. Wandell Robinson is in the Titans. I'm therefore I'm out on Tate. Wandell Robinson gets 150 targets.
SPEAKER_00Dude, he's he's a target.
SPEAKER_02Wandell Robinson should be here at 29. The fact that we have Tate over Wandell, you know it. So, alright, alright, all right, all right, let's keep it a moment. Roma Dunze, Shark Lounges guy.
SPEAKER_03Oh man.
SPEAKER_02Roma Dunze at 30 and uh Luther Burden at 21 is interesting. What do you think about the Roma Dunze Luther Burden this year in fantasy football? See?
SPEAKER_01I I think it's ranked correctly.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01I feel like I don't yeah, I mean, Rome Odunze, I know he's he's had some very solid games in the past. Um he's just he's not consistent. Yeah. And to me, it's it's always tough plugging people like that in on a weekly basis. So you may be able to fill him in on you know good matchup, but trusting him every single week. It it's just currently I I wouldn't be able to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I I it's Bears are tough because it's like having the Lions, it's like having the Rams. You never know if it's Devontae Adams, Puka Nakua, Blake Corum, Kobe Parkinson, or Kyron Williams. It's the same difference goes for the Bears. It could be Luther Burden, Colston Lovelin, um, the other tight end, Cole Clement, who's good, Kyle Menungay, and DeAndre Swift. Ben Johnson's so creative where he's gonna get them all involved. Yeah, he's gonna get them all involved, but it's like Roma there they have like six targets. They don't just hyper-target Roma Dunze with 11 targets for a game. That's just not how their offense works. So if you get the Bears, just know you're gonna be watching good football. They're gonna be up 21-14. If it's a Roma Dunze game, you're gonna be excited. The reason I use wide receiver 30 is that's one out of every three games. Then it's DeAndre Swift, then it's Coastin Lovelin, and then it's right back to Rome. So you just have to understand these guys. You put them in as your wide receiver three, but you don't get Rome as wide receiver two because it's just it's too scary. It's too scary. Um, all right, all right, all right. The second tier is where it gets really fun. Brian Thomas 31, Jordan Tyson Saints 32, Parker Washington 33, Marvin Harrison 34, Makai Lemon 35, Quentin Johnson 36. That is insane. Oh my gosh, see, so much. Brian Thomas at 31. We had he was wide receiver four two years ago. Yeah, that's Parker Washington comes on last year, see, and he and he just balls out the second half of the season.
SPEAKER_01He looked great.
SPEAKER_02Marvin Harrison, top draft. We're getting to that point in drafts where this is all or nothing. Brian Thomas could be a top seven receiver this year. Why receiver 31?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean that to me, that that seems a little extreme. I I feel like I'd probably take him earlier than that. But um, yeah, I mean, it's tough. It's tough knowing uh what we what we saw from him last year.
SPEAKER_02You're looking, you're just looking down like someone just oh, you know, it's tough. Uh I know, I know. See, it was tough last year, but wide receiver 31.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it it's crazy how much changes in two years. All right. Who else do you like in this tier? Quentin Johnson. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Q Juan. I like QG. I mean, uh I know he may have some uh issues as far as you know dropping the ball sometimes. That tends to it it happened a good bit last year, but he showed when he's catching the ball, he definitely has a lot of upside.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. The replacements had him last year. Maybe it was I I don't know who had him. Man, he started out on a tear. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It was and they and they obviously love targeting him in the red zone. Yep. So he's gonna score touchdowns.
SPEAKER_02I like Quentin Johnson in this tier. Um, the guy I want to really pull out my sleeper of the year is Parker Washington. Parker Washington was so good at the end of last year. Yeah, he was six catches. It was a surprise.
SPEAKER_01But that's you know kind of the ultimate downfall to uh Bryan Thomas Jr.
SPEAKER_02So that I mean that's the story with the Jaguars. Is it gonna be Jacoby Myers? Is it gonna be Parker Washington? Is it gonna be Brian Thomas? I, for one, personally am I in on all three. I I was thinking I might go this year in a draft: Gibbs, Chase Brown, Colston Loveland, and then I might go the big three: Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Jacoby Myers and with Flux. It's Liam Cohen. You know they're gonna get involved. The problem I'm having with the whole debate is Travis Hunter, he's still playing offense. I love Parker Washington, but they took they traded the house and took Travis Hunter at number two overall, and he won the Bolitnikov Award for the best receiver in all of college football. And they say he's playing defense, and now they're saying he's playing offense. And I'm just saying, draft all the Jaguars, don't run away because the Jaguars' offense is good. It goes back to the Rams, it goes back to the Bears. You just know it's a good offense. It might be a Parker Washington game, it might be a Jacoby Myers game. You want a piece of that offense. Do I love what BTJ showed last year? No. I'm in on the Jaguars, I'm in on Liam Cohen, I'm in on Trevor Lawrence. So therefore, BTJ, Parker Washington, Jacoby Myers to the moon. Carter, I just went on a rant. I'm about to pass out. I I've never talked that long in my life about Parker Washington. I gave you my all. Pod's over. Dude, I love it. I love it. Um, the rest of these guys, I mean, I don't, I, I don't know. Close your eyes. If you're listening to episode two of our podcast, Extra Yard, and listening to wide receiver four advice.
SPEAKER_01We'll we'll we'll read the names off for you guys, but yeah, um as far as doing a deep analysis.
SPEAKER_02Close your eyes.
SPEAKER_01Do with it what you will. I mean, at this point, you know, we're all looking for we're all looking for something, but there's not a lot out there.
SPEAKER_02Folks, you know it's a sad fall from grace. Listen to the first name you say. I feel bad that that was the lead up to this. Go ahead. Start the list.
SPEAKER_01DK Metcalf.
SPEAKER_02Oh man, are you kidding? Wide receiver fours. All right, all right, keep going.
SPEAKER_01Uh 38, Alec Pierce. 39, Corland Sutton. I will say Sutton, he's always, at least the past 10 years, late round steal.
SPEAKER_02Mr. Mr. Touchdown.
SPEAKER_01Mr. Reliable. He is he is always there when you need him. Uh 40, we got Jaden Reed. 41, Chris Godwin. That to me kind of seems pretty pretty crazy to have him.
SPEAKER_02Chris Godwin at 41 is alarming. I I think I think I'm back in on Chris Godwin.
SPEAKER_01Especially having all, you know, he he went through, he had that bad injury, but he had last season to kind of get over it. And I know he didn't necessarily look like his normal self, but he's got, you know, all this the whole offseason to to heal up, get back to 100%. So I would I would definitely be happy if Chris Godwin was still on the board that late in drafts. I mean, yeah. And then 42, Jordan Addison, 43, Josh Downs, 44, Xavier Worthy.
SPEAKER_02That's that that okay. I'm gonna take a stand. Yeah. Uh the guy ran a 4-2, and we just cast him off as wide receiver 44, and I'm not okay with it.
SPEAKER_01No, no, that that that doesn't seem right. It's the Chiefs. That doesn't seem right.
SPEAKER_02But I will say, if you took him off the waiver wire last year and put him in your lineup, oh wow, did you lose that matchup that week? Every time, man, I would I would look. I'd say the same thing. I go, why is Xavier Worthy on the waiver wire, dude? Why, why did, why did uh the rookie Max Strap, why did he drop him? Why did he drop Xavier Worthy? Dude, I put him in my lineup, he had zero. I thought I was playing the law, law of averages. I put him back in the next week. He had three. I was like, I thought this guy went deep. I thought like Mahomes threw to him. So wide receiver 44 seems right. I just want to stop you. Like, what?
SPEAKER_01Why Fall from Grace.
SPEAKER_02All right. Hey, the last four names of the wide receiver fours. I'm still in on a lot of these games.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I mean, I'm I'm definitely gonna have my uh my eyes on some of these, but 45. We got Michael Wilson, yep, 46, Ricky Pearsall, 47, Michael Pittman Jr. And 48, Jacoby Myers.
SPEAKER_02The guy from that tier um is 100% Ricky Pearsall. This is this is the time we've had pretty crazy NFL career, and I am very in on Ricky Pearsall's talent. I think he's a great player, he was great at Florida, um, had some unfortunate events uh when he got in the NFL, and now I think his third or fourth year in the league, and you really hope that Ricky Pearsall takes that step this year, and really like next year he's wide receiver 25, he's looking to get a new contract, 1400 yards. Like Ricky Pearsall is capable of greatness. We just it's just been tough. The 49ers offense, they they spread the ball around, but I really think this is a year where you get Ricky Pearsall and he and he has a good good season. I I'm I'm in on Pearsall. Other guy like it's Michael Wilson. He was wide receiver 13 last year. He he balled out the Cardinals are gonna be down just every game.
SPEAKER_01Nobody's slinging it. I mean, they have to.
SPEAKER_02Yeah,
British Open Preview
SPEAKER_02they have to. So shout out to the listeners. We're we're probably at an hour 15.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I mean that that was a solid, that was a solid rundown.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, dude. They're listening to wide receiver four advice on Jordan Addison and Josh Downs, man, trying to get ready for their draft. So if you're listening to the pod right now, shout out to you. In our show notes when we were consulting with ChatGPT and the microcomputer, macro computer, um, we were finishing with golf. Um that we are.
SPEAKER_01I mean, hey, we got the open this week, so we had to touch on it. We had to touch on it.
SPEAKER_02The only thing I I want to talk about is man, is the majors have been crazy this year. Um Wyndham Clark winning it and getting booed. You had Rory going back to back.
SPEAKER_01At Augusta, yeah, that was that was sick. I mean, Aaron Rye winning the PGA champion.
SPEAKER_02Winning the PGA. And I was hurt anytime uh last week at the Genesis, um, Scotty didn't make the cut. I just my weekend's ruined. I wake up Saturday, I'm looking at it, and it's the Scottish Open, the the week before the British Open, and you're pretty pumped. And Scotty missed the cut. And what I can tell you is he's finished in top three and he's potentially winning the British Open. If that's that's not gonna sit well. Um but fire him up. I will say it's been a tough year for Scotty, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he just he hasn't been able to get it done. I mean, he's as far as his uh you know position where he's been finishing, he's had a pretty decent year. Uh he just yeah, he hasn't been able to secure the wins and you know finishes top ten or top five, but always losing by a couple shots or yeah, just not having his best game on Sunday.
SPEAKER_02So and you know what's funny is about Scotty is uh it's been a tough year for him, and he's uh he's world number one. Yeah, he's world number one, and uh he's won two tournaments and finished second at most.
SPEAKER_01I mean, dude, when he has a a season like what was it last year, maybe two, two years ago, where he was pretty much kind of on par with Tiger Woods, early 2000s, like that that was yeah, incredible to watch. So I gotta go with you. I I'm I'm rolling with Scotty. I think he's gonna win the open. Yeah. So he's due. He's due. He's had he's had plenty of chances this year, and I think this would be the perfect way to kind of.
SPEAKER_02I think this year my my sleeper pick is always gonna be Shane Lowry. Shane. I like Shane. I like Shane. Um Rory has won this, obviously, career grand slam winner. You like him. I'm a big Harry, Harris English guy. Harry English guy always plays well here. Um, Keegan Bradley, god knows what he's gonna bring when he comes over. Um my fa Tommy Fleetwood. Tommy. I it would be a good time for uh Tommy to win a Brit a British Open.
SPEAKER_01Well and he grew up near this course, so yeah, kind of would the stars would align if he's finally able to get over the hump.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So um, you know, it would be good to see Ludwig play well and be right there. You know, maybe he doesn't win, maybe he's top ten. Um, if Patrick Cantley's in the top ten, I'm out. Um, can't do it, won't do it. Um I don't know why. See, I've just became a huge fan of JJ Spawn. Um, I just think after winning that US Open in the rain two years ago, I saw him almost win uh TPC Sawgrass, the players' championship. So always a fan favorite. Um, I'm trying to think of who else you'd love to see win a British Open. Um the name that keeps coming to mind is Jim Furick. And Jim Furick hasn't gone.
SPEAKER_01And Tony Eric. I think he's on the champions.
SPEAKER_02By the way, um, I don't know if there he's gonna be at the British Open this year, but before we head out, before we cut out, um what what's happened to Bryson?
SPEAKER_01Dude, it's it's I I I don't have an answer. It's weird. It's weird seeing. I don't I think he's missed five or six straight major cuts. Yeah. Like it's been bad. And I think in the in the previous one, the US Open, he came out and played an amazing first round. But then completely fell apart in the second, missed the cut. It's gotta be something mental. I I don't know what he's what he has going on, but there's there's definitely a big issue that he needs to address.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I um I just think it's funny, man. You know who's always sneaking on these top ten lists? Um, as were w when you were just talking about Bryson, I I can't even think about it. Hurts. I was a huge Bryson fan. I was back in US Open, and when I saw a plus eight, and I thought it was Friday, so it was the PGA championship, and why I wanted to talk about other golfers is it hurts my soul. It was the PGA championship, and I turn on the TV and I see Bryson DeChambeau plus eight and I thought it was Friday, and I was like, okay, well, you know, we went plus four, and no, no, it was Thursday. He scrapped to get to plus six, and then the next day, plus four, plus ten, misses the cut by six strokes, and then you look back and you're like, wait, he hasn't made a majors cut in two years.
SPEAKER_01It's yeah, I again it it just doesn't make any sense. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Um, you know, it's nice to see who's responded from that uh from his back injury, and his back is Kalin Morakawa.
SPEAKER_01He he's he's a stick. I think he can I think he can definitely get the job done here. I mean, there's there's a handful of guys that are all kind of in uh contention, just out the gate. But yeah, I mean, Morikawa, he's he's so good with his irons. So I don't know. I feel like any given week, he's he's always kind of gonna be up up towards the top, whether he wins it or not, we shall see. But yeah, I'd say if I had to pick who I would prefer to win, I'd I'd have to say Tommy Fleawood.
SPEAKER_02So Tommy, yeah. Um I I can't believe I'm doing this, man. He's bringing me back in. Every week I've been more and more out on this guy, and every year I've been more and more out on this guy. But this year, he's brought me back. Robert McIntyre. Robert Bob McIntyre. He won the British Open a couple years ago, and he was on top, and we have seen it all. And this is a classic lefty guy, and it's a roller coaster. It's like Jordan Spieth, and it's just so fun to watch. Yeah, you never know what you're gonna get with him, man. Crouch over, hit those putts. He shows a lot of emotion on the course, and the other guy, I don't like saying these two names, but you know they're gonna be right there. Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Shoffley.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, those I mean, as as well as they've been playing this season. Yep. Both those guys, I mean, they've both won majors, could easily win this one. I just it's gonna be it's gonna be a good tournament. I feel like there's there's a lot of guys that are kind of in their best form for the season with it being the last major of the season. I am excited for some golf.
SPEAKER_02All right. The extra yard podcast. What you want to do? Episode two.
SPEAKER_01Hey, how does that I enjoyed it? Um hope, hope you guys did as well. We'll uh yeah, I mean, any any suggestions or comments, uh, feel free to leave them under the post, and we will see you guys here next Tuesday.
