Pride doesn’t always look like arrogance. Sometimes it looks like self-reliance, the need to be right, the refusal to ask for help, or believing you’re the one in control. In this episode of Concrete Confessions, we expose the deadly sin that sits at the root of so many others. From Lucifer’s rebellion in heaven to the downfall of kings and ordinary people, we’ll see how pride quietly builds a throne in our hearts and slowly pushes God off of it.

Concrete Confessions faces what we try to bury like cracked concrete. Truth eventually shows. Hey what's going on people? Welcome to the seven part series of the Concrete Confessions. In this series, we're gonna talk about things that we try to bury under the surface. You know, the cracks in our character, the sins we pretend aren't there. And the first one that we're talking about is pride. Not the kind people celebrate on social media, not the be proud of yourself version, the pride the Bible speaks of. The pride that quietly convinces us we don't need God. Proverbs chapter sixteen verse eighteen says pride goeth before destruction and an halty spirit before a fall. Pride doesn't start with destruction, it starts with elevation. You begin thinking you're a little stronger than you are, a little smarter than you are, a little more righteous than you actually are, and slowly, without even seeing it, you start putting yourself in the place where only God belongs. James chapter four verse six says God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Think about that. God doesn't just dislike pride. Scripture says he opposes it. That means pride literally puts you in opposition to God. Not because God hates you, but because pride convinces you that you don't need him. Proverbs chapter eight verse thirteen says To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate pride and arrogance. Pride and arrogance are dangerous because they blind you. You stop listening, you stop learning, you stop correcting yourself and you become your own authority. And that is where the fall begins. Proverbs chapter eleven verse two puts it plainly. When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Humility isn't weakness, humility is clarity. It's the understanding that every talent you have, every opportunity you've been given, every breath in your lungs is a gift from God. But pride tells a different story. Pride says I did this. Pride says I earned this. I don't need help. And that's exactly what the enemy wants. Because first John chapter two verse sixteen warns us about the roots of the world's temptations, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. The pride of life, that constant pressure to prove your better, to look stronger, to appear more successful, to build an image that makes you feel important. But here's the truth. Pride builds a throne for yourself in a kingdom that only belongs to God. Galatians chapter six verse three says If a man think himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. Pride is self deception. It convinces you that you're standing tall when you're actually standing on unstable ground. And Psalm chapter ten verse four explains why pride is so dangerous spiritually. It says in his pride the wicked man does not seek him. In all his thoughts there is no room for God. That's the real damage that pride causes. It removes God from the center. You stop praying, you stop asking, you stop surrendering because pride whispers You got this. But humility says something different. Humility says God, I need you. And that's where transformation begins. Because God doesn't look for perfect people, He looks for humble hearts, people who know they fall short, people who know they cannot do it alone, people who are willing to lay their pride down at the feet of Jesus. So here's the confession. Every one of us struggles with pride. Sometimes it's loud, sometimes is subtle, but the moment we recognize it, the moment we humble ourselves, grace steps in. Because God opposes the proud, but he gives more grace to the humble. And that grace can rebuild anything pride tried to destroy. That's my time, and that's my message for this episode. So remember, it is better to be humble than to be prideful. That's my message, and it's all facts.
