You can't do that to them that would be rude. Yes. All right. Well it's it's been a really nice time. And one of them is a data guy. He's he's literally a data center guy. He knows all about data.

Now can you briefly tell us what his take is on data centers? Is he like, oh, it's no big deal, go ahead and build them, or yeah, we got some problems there.

His opinion is what choice do we have? Yes, it is a little AI, but it's not just AI, it's everything. It's data, for God's sakes. If you want to keep your wedding photos on the cloud, you need a data center. If you want to um, you know, use Excel, you need a data center. Uh it it's it's his opinion is you you you want to let go of air for a while or water or the internet? I mean, it's it's there.

And yeah, has has he heard this thing that a lot of these data centers will be outdated in two or three years because there'll be something even better coming along? Has he heard that? Did you bring that up?

I want to wake him up now because I think it's really interesting. I don't know that part. We didn't get into that, but he was so sanguine about it. Really that yeah, it was it was interesting. Um, I I felt I felt less pressure on my chest after talking with him, you know. We need to have this, and and they don't have to be um, first of all, the water's recycled, they're not using new water. That was one thing that was said. So it was it was kind of relaxing. It was yeah.

Well, good enough. Uh we'll maybe we'll dive into that a little bit more later. Let's let's uh let's uh get into some news headlines here. Here's some of the headlines that were uh in Catherine, listen closely and you choose which what headline we want to talk about first. Okay. First of all, the damn reflecting pool is in the uh headlines again. Trump is claiming handles are the problem. We'll get to that. Uh Jimmy Kimmel is announcing his summer replacement guest post. Do you know who that is? I do not. Uh Julian is gonna pronounce a word for us, a word I am unfamiliar with, but apparently it has something to do with what's legal and what's not legal at dispensaries. Um, here Starmer, the UK UK uh prime minister, resigned this morning. Get out of town seventh prime minister in 10 years in Great Britain. Seven prime ministers they've had in the last 10 years, and a woman fell 10 floors down a trash chute in her apartment building in Hackensack, New Jersey, but she's okay. She's just okay. All right, which one of those headlines should we get to first?

Well, he's uh he's resigned. Apparently, uh uh he was pushed out by his own party, yeah. Uh, which I guess happens in Great Britain, but I I don't quite understand if there's I I wasn't aware of any scandal, I don't know what the problem is, but uh apparently the economy has been really kind of tough in Great Britain for the last several years, but he's only been in office two years, so yeah, it's the economy stupid.

Uh, let's get to the next headline here. Uh, the damn reflecting pool. Boy, this this story is not gonna go away anytime soon. No, because Trump is claiming it's all because of vandalism. You know, I mean, come on, we all know we've had that now. There have been reporters there hanging around with the reflecting pool and cameras and everything, and and there was a little bit of vandalism. A couple of guys got in there and stole some blue paint that it peeled off. You know what they're gonna do with that, right? But they didn't they didn't cause it, they didn't cause it though.

No, what they're gonna they're gonna sell that, they're gonna sell that on eBay. Have a reflecting pool from Trump era. Are they? I buy it.

Okay, okay. Uh, have you ever heard the word cradom? No, k r at o m. Okay. Uh, I think I'm pronouncing that correctly, but Julian, you correct me if I'm wrong. How do I pronounce that? Oh, wait, hang on a second. I had the wrong one. Here it is. Julian.

We are looking at how to pronounce the name of this plant or tree of the coffee family. We'll be looking at how to say more interesting and often confusing names than many mispronounced too. This is used as a medicinal treatment. How do you say it in British English? It is said as kratom. Kratum in American English, however, it is normally pronounced as cratum. Kratom. Pronunciation for interesting words.

Okay, really? Cratem. Uh, some people say cratom, I guess. But that is something that they sell at dispensaries, uh, for being yeah. And uh the issue is uh, you know, there's a lot of all all the states around Wisconsin. Uh there is marijuana that is sold in dispensaries now, except in Wisconsin. It's still an issue. And uh in Wisconsin, uh I'm I'm still unclear as to whether this cradom is the new rage uh for uh pain, uh you know, and uh so uh but it is still illegal to buy weed in Michigan and and bring it back to Wisconsin. You can't you're not supposed to go over the line, go to the dispensaries, buy the stuff, and come back to Wisconsin. It's still illegal in Wisconsin, yeah. And uh, will that be an issue this time around?

Well, I don't know. I I don't know about Kratom. That's a new one on me, but in Minnesota and Illinois and Iowa and Michigan, apparently it's all legal. But hey, in Wisconsin, you can buy Delta VI marijuana, but that's it. That's it.

Isn't it funny? We just humans just need a way to stop down the brain, and we don't we don't want to be conscious and and you know normal for this period of time in in history. I I it is it has gotten absurd.

Well, I think ever since the um uh you know alcohol was made illegal for a while in America, uh in the 20s, I guess the 30s, 20s, 30s.

You're trying to remember when prohibition was? Of course it was the 20s. It's uh ironic as hell. 100 years ago, yeah, we tried to stop people from drinking, yes, and that was a bad idea.

It didn't work out, um, but then you know, ever since then, uh now it's you know it's been marijuana for a long time, but now it's in 26 states, 27 states, something like that. It's it's it's legal in some form, but and it's regulated, and so I I don't know.

Well, he does this, it's not you. You've not been informed that you're hosting a Jimmy Kimmel show. Um he does this, he's no, it's not John Peterson, but this happens every summer. He has uh the last two or three summers, he's had replacement guest hosts uh while he takes a vacation. Rosie O'Donnell is going to be the guest host. Now you know she's a thorn in Trump's side and has been for 20 years.

She lives in Great Britain, she's in Ireland now. She's a state of Ireland. I didn't know that, but well, with that name, she's got family, you know. She's gonna she's very happy, very happy with Ireland.

So uh this is the next distraction. Yeah, he's going to be all over her like white on rice. He won't be able to resist.

He won't be able to, yeah. He's not gonna be able to hold back. Okay, what else here? What else is in the news? What so uh oh, here's the one story here that kind of caught my eye. Um let me get the official news report. Okay. On June 7th, what three weeks ago, two weeks ago? Yeah, uh, this is from ABC News in New York. Uh woman sustained sustained serious injuries after falling 10 floors down a trash chute in an apartment building in Hackensack, New Jersey. Nice. Get this. She entered the chute on the 14th floor and came came to a stop at the fourth floor because the garbage had piled up three floors in this trash.

Is that why she went down to clean up?

No. Um break it open. Uh, police are saying drugs and alcohol likely led to the incident. Oh, she was just having some fun. Just thought she'd crawl into the trash chute and see what happens. Well, when the firefighters arrived, they had difficulty finding her at first. So apparently there were witnesses to this that didn't stop her. Um, they eventually had to cut into the metal chute and clear away the garbage before rescuing the woman feet first. It was a breach. She was inside, she just decided, oh, let's see what happens.

This is why in the 20s of the 1900s, we tried to stop the alcohol. This is why.

Oh, my my uh data center guest is awake, by the way, so I can go hunt him down and get some answers on data centers. Oh but um my parents, my dad was put up in sh in Washington, DC in a condo at the end of his career with General Electric. They couldn't let him retire, so they consulted with him. He was a government contracts guy, so they put him up in a condo. And my mom would visit once in a while from schenectity. And one night, these two geriatrics uh doused by accident a full uh roll of paper towel. Well, it's all wet now. We're not gonna throw it away. Let's stick it in the microwave and dry it off.

My dad was there because he was so smart, they couldn't let him retire. And he thought it was a good idea to nuke well, it started to smolder. Of course. So dad hands this smoldering sobbing roll of paper towel on one end uh and asks her to bring it to the dump, to the chute.

Because it's it's a chute that goes to a fire pit. It's one of those, right?

Um yeah, I don't know what you call them.

Well, they there's a name for that, right? I can't pull it right now. So he sends her to send it down to there because it's just gonna go into a fire pit. Why not?

So the the smoldering roll of paper towel went down to the garbage chute and promptly lit it a fire.

Or the building had to be emptied. Yes, the fire alarm went off. The smoke alarm. So they all go outside. My parents are in their robes, you know, and their slippers, and they're cold, and they're just what is going on? I don't know. Some idiot must have done something with the garbage chute.

Big building, a lot of people, probably a hundred or so. Oh my god, yeah, that's a bunch.

Yeah, if you have a garbage chute, there's probably gonna be a hundred people in this place. Yeah, not his most shining moment. All right, you don't get to make fun of my dad about a lot of things, but that one stuck.

We'll keep it brief. Hi, Chris. Um so now I've heard that these data centers can you hear me okay, by the way? Yeah, absolutely. Okay, I've heard that the data centers that they're building now are going to be obsolete within two or three years because they'll come along with something better to do this kind of work that data centers do. Is that do you do you have any information about that? Have you heard anything like that?

Uh it depends on the use of the data center, but yeah, there's a likelihood that that could happen. Um, only because of the infrastructure that's supporting it. Hmm.

Okay, well, so why don't we just do that now? I mean, wouldn't that okay?

What do you what do you mean do that now?

Well, well, if there's something better than data centers that don't use up so much water or what everybody's all upset about, uh can we not wait that long?

Well, because the technologies uh that are coming about aren't necessarily being designed into the current data centers that we're seeing built being built today.

Okay. Um, do you have an opinion on the data centers uh that are being built uh out there? You know, that and there's protesting going on, and people are going to meetings about this and don't want them in their backyard. Uh what's your opinion on that?

It's it's funny because um Catherine and I were just talking about that, and there was a thing I was just gonna send Catherine on a text. Yeah, that really shows um water usage, because that's one of the proponents of um why people are saying not in my backyard. Right. It it actually uh uh takes significantly, probably like call it 10% less water than say a cornfield or even somebody's house, because these data centers are using closed loop closed, open meaning it's not being replenished. Um closed loop uh water.

And that means it's um also very efficient.

Yeah, exactly. Okay, um, so there's a lot of misinformation going around. There it is, as you as you know. Um we have a lot of that these days. Um and that's uh that's that's what we're seeing in uh the public uh the community outcry, thinking that uh certain things are going on with meta centers that aren't necessarily true.

It's just you know, like anything, when you know everything about a topic, you you don't know how to inform somebody who knows as little as me or perhaps you next to nothing about it. Where do I begin to address your ignorance? It's it's like we're saying to him, you know, the internet's full of misinformation. I don't know if I really want it in my house. Well, let me okay.

Um right, yeah. What do you do with that? Okay, well, uh, thank you to Chris for chiming in on that. And uh, you know, I I didn't know. Uh well, you know, I had heard that they did recycle the water, but it still seems people are very upset about having these things built in, you know, anywhere near them in these small villages. Because I think a lot of times they're trying to sneak these things past uh the local councils or whatever, the town councils, uh, without informing the general public about what's happening. I think that's part of the that's part of the anger.

Yeah, yeah. And one of the things I had heard was bright lights outside it, you know. So you just you get a Walmart next door. Uh right. And and guess what? They have to have those bright lights. There's the irony of humanity, because for security, for securing people are attacking the buildings, yeah. So it's ironic. We could be here quietly doing our business, your business, by the way, but we can't because you're coming in and like trying to free the beagles. There's no beagles here. This is not the Ridgeland farms that needs to be attacked, right? It is your data, your wedding photos, your business. Oh, okay.

I want to use some more irony. Um, the the idea of the misinformation that people are posting, yeah, the platforms that they're posting on, all of that is using data centers.
