Coffee with Gordy gets a little crazy in this episode. Host Gordy Young manages to keep his composure as co-host Kathryn Lake inadvertently goes topless for a few seconds, (you had to be there) but not to worry, the show must go on! You can see an edited video version of Episode 123 on Gordy Young's Facebook or YouTube pages. (Our sponsor Boffo Coffee actually LOVED the exposure...so to speak! SPEAKER_03

And hello. It's Friday. Alrighty, Friday, June 26th, 2026. Welcome to Coffee Recordy.

SPEAKER_07

It's time to have a couple of jobs you can sit with nice little grab coffee cup. Let's take a coffee break. It's time for goodness sake.

SPEAKER_03

It's coffee with goodies. Hey there, hi there, ho there. Good morning. Hope the coffee is hot where you are. Boy, I don't have my uh Bafo coffee cup is in the dishwasher this morning. Uh, so I have a backup cup here, and it's uh it's good coffee. Bafocoffee.com.

SPEAKER_07

Our sponsor BafoCoffee.com.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, very good. All right, we're just getting started here. We've got uh Katherine Lake standing by. We've got John Peterson standing by. And uh first up, let's uh uh let's introduce John Peterson. John, uh it's good to see you this morning. Thank you for uh joining us. How are you doing? It's good to be here. I uh yeah, I think it's really early. You're not used to getting up early anymore.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I get up early, but I'm not exactly uh you know hitting the airwaves like this, you know. So yeah. Well, welcome to the early morning. I'd be eating breakfast right now, I'd be in the shower right now, or you know, something like that. But I always get up about seven or so.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Yeah. Uh now I don't know if you got my message from uh yesterday. We had a very special episode. Uh, you know, Catherine Lake joins me every morning here, uh just about every morning. And uh there was uh uh something special that happened here. And in fact, uh let me introduce uh uh Catherine Lake at this time, and uh she can uh she can join us here. Here is Katherine. Okay, wait a minute, wait a minute. Let me stop the music. I have some special music here. Here we go.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, yeah, that's a little over here.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. Good morning, Catherine. Oh, she's not talking to us now.

SPEAKER_05

I'm incognito, I'm in hiding. This is what all the stars do, don't they? Show up with sunglasses, all the the movie stars, and the you know, when Howard Stern interviews the strippers.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, holy cow. Well, something happened yesterday during the show, and I don't know if you want to explain it from your perspective, but you know, things were going to be.

SPEAKER_02

You you got up late and you started preparing for being on Gordy's show, but while you were on Gordy's show, and then like in the movies, there's this mirror in the background where I'm gonna put my bra on, you know, and all of a sudden, you know, everybody in the world is watching you change.

SPEAKER_05

The mirror was unexpected, but it was perfectly aligned.

SPEAKER_03

So for the folks that are uh just joining us uh today, this is uh I want to mark this down, episode 123, and you can find it on my Facebook page. Uh now it has been edited for broadcast. Uh by the way, that took me about an hour to figure out how to do a blur.

SPEAKER_05

I couldn't believe how fast and motivated you were to watch that video over and over and over again.

SPEAKER_03

I was focused uh because I had to be uh to put things out of focus in the background there. And uh yeah, it took a long, long time. Um, but we heard from a couple of people who saw it live. Um, you know, some some of our former uh news people, news people, people who are important, and said, Can you be on my show to boost ratings?

SPEAKER_05

This is not what this was about. This was an accident.

SPEAKER_03

It was an accident, happy accident, uh, and uh one of those things that just kind of happens, right?

SPEAKER_05

Well, this is what I'm wearing every day.

SPEAKER_02

Hence you're gonna be let me just straighten this out here. I know this is you saw it live and all that stuff, but and you told me just now. Well, you know, I kind of let you know what happened yesterday, and I'm thinking, you let everybody know what happened. I saw it on YouTube, uh not YouTube, but on Facebook. I saw it. You know, you let everybody in Madison, Wisconsin know about this thing.

SPEAKER_05

And I forwarded it. I I forwarded the edited version and said something happened. I've had one like, nobody's interested. This is such a non-story.

SPEAKER_02

I know it's really a non-story. Can we see the actual footage then? Uh actually, I was I I wanted to, okay, Catherine.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't have a chance to get it edited to a short version that we could show today, but maybe Monday. We'll uh I'll work on that over the weekend.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. We'll ask the we'll ask the viewers to cover their eyes if they're offended.

SPEAKER_03

Right. Uh, you know, what is it about uh nudity that is so fascinating uh to us all? Let's let's ponder this just for a moment. I want to play something here that uh Catherine suggested here.

SPEAKER_00

What is it about men and nudity? Particularly breasts. How can you be so interested in them? Well but seriously, they're just breastps. Every second person in the world has them. Well, more than that, actually, when you think about it. You know, meatblocks are a very nice pair. Look they're they're odd looking. They're for milk. Your mother has them. You've seen a thousand of them. What's all the fuss about?

SPEAKER_07

That's uh actually I can't think what it is, really. Should we just have a quick note?

SPEAKER_03

Nope, nope, beats me. That's uh Julia Roberts and uh Hugh Grant in the movie Notting Notting Hill.

SPEAKER_05

Notting Hill, yeah. You haven't seen it?

SPEAKER_03

I saw it a long time ago. I mean, that's yeah. Anyway, so what is it? I mean, uh John, you used to go to the uh Mesoamania Beach occasionally uh to see the uh activities there, but it of course he to participate in the activities there if he's honorable in any way.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I uh I went on a date to Mesomania. I didn't go there alone. I went to any woman, so she wanted to go. And I thought, wow, okay.

SPEAKER_03

And did a lot of site? Were there a lot of people there? I mean, this was uh known for years as uh uh a nude beach, uh, but until the until the authorities shut it down, finally, I guess. The Republicans shut it down. They didn't run anything like that in Wisconsin.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, okay.

SPEAKER_05

No nudity.

SPEAKER_02

All right. Well, uh, I listen, I'm not gonna nudity. I don't understand why, you know. I I think it's a learned experience. Perhaps I I don't know if that's a psychological thing, that if you're breastfed, this is something you kind of learn early on. I don't think that's really true, but it could be, it could be.

SPEAKER_03

Do you have any idea either of you whether you were breastfed or not? Did your parents share that information? I I I don't think I was. I don't I don't know though. How would I how would I know?

SPEAKER_02

I my mother had her well. I asked, and uh yeah, my mom was very proud of not breastfeeding.

SPEAKER_05

So really, yeah, I worked so hard to get my adopted baby breast milk. I got it from I got it donated because I wanted her to make sure that she had some breast milk in her infancy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, all right. Well, let's move on here. Yeah, uh, we need to check the uh weather forecast because it's kind of a cloudy day outside. I don't know if you uh have uh taken a look, but uh it is it gonna change. Oh, we accidentally have a bird at the bird feeder this morning. Female cardinal.

SPEAKER_05

Female cardinal, right? Isn't that a redhead? It's hard to tell if it's red.

SPEAKER_03

Let me see if I can bring this up uh in any way, shape, or form over here. No, I can't do it. You're very tricky. It is all right, forget it. Uh all right, let's uh let's uh check the weather with Luna. Luna. Luna, what's the weather for Madison, Wisconsin for today and the weekend?

SPEAKER_04

All right, today in Madison we've got clouds with a high around 78 degrees for the weekend. It's looking partly sunny, high is near 80 both days, so overall pretty pleasant.

SPEAKER_03

Luna, what is your take on uh nudity in America?

SPEAKER_05

Well, in a nutshell, it's a I'd say it's one of those Oh my god, it's not worth it. Can't we tell her, John, can we tell her not to let us interrupt her so she can finish a flipping sentence when we go It doesn't work like that.

SPEAKER_02

Well okay, let's take this long pause and hear what she has to say because she's a wise ass. Yes, Luna.

SPEAKER_03

Uh what do you think about nudity?

SPEAKER_04

Honestly, I think it's all about context and comfort. If everyone's happy and respectful, well, it's just another way to be human.

SPEAKER_05

Are you a nudist at home, John?

SPEAKER_02

What's that?

SPEAKER_05

Are you a nudist at home?

SPEAKER_03

Uh no. No, I'm not. Okay. You asked the question. Now answer it. What are you a nudist at home, Catherine?

SPEAKER_05

I'm not, except on the internet. Yes, only on the internet. No, I'm I'm actually quite demure, believe it or not.

SPEAKER_01

No, really?

SPEAKER_05

Oh my god. I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_02

It's really mostly guys are into that kind of stuff, you know. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Sure. That's a good proclamation.

SPEAKER_03

All right. John, what's new in your world? What have you been uh into lately? I know you've been following the reflecting pool all the way through this horrible tragedy that's happened to it, and it's not gonna be ready by the 4th of July. Uh, they've got it all fenced off now, they've got security, they've got uh helicopters flying overhead. You know, because we got to keep the vandals away, right?

SPEAKER_02

I made the analogy that the fencing makes it look like a prison yard. So that's what we're that's what we're doing to the tourists down there. And you know, I had a sad revelation uh yesterday about how much I've been covering the reflecting pool. And I was thinking, you know, people might actually start calling me up as an authority on the and think what a sad ending to my life that I would be the authority on something so insignificant as that. But here I am.

SPEAKER_05

MSNBC is gonna be calling Maureen Joe wants to know what's the latest John Pearson from Madison.

unknown

That's right.

SPEAKER_03

You know, wasn't there an incident back in the late 60s or 70s at the reflecting pool? Wasn't it Wilbur Mills or some some you know, there was some old Republican that got caught in the middle of the night in the reflecting pool with uh a woman he should not have been with, a woman other than his wife, and it was a big scandal. Uh you know, I'll president no.

SPEAKER_05

I'm on it, I'm on it. No, crazy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, look up Wilbur Mills recently.

SPEAKER_02

What they were waiting in it, is that it?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think they were waiting around, and uh the cops found him and arrested him. Drunk as hell is that's probably I think uh reason for that.

SPEAKER_05

1974.

SPEAKER_03

Tell us the story there.

SPEAKER_05

He's a congressman, of course. Wilbur Mills, a powerful Arkansas, classy part of the country, was stopped in a speeding car. I'm just joking. One of our finest presidents is from Arkansas, stepped in a speeding car with his headlights off alongside Argentine stripper Fanny Fox. Fox jumped into the title basin to avoid police, exposing a severe drinking problem that ultimately cost Mills his career in 1974. You don't get to be an alcoholic and be in leadership. Sorry.

SPEAKER_03

See, that's what happens when you hang out with that.

SPEAKER_02

Way back then they they let people wade into it. They let people hang out and dangle their feet in the reflecting pool. And you know, civil rights uh individuals, protesters were down there in the reflecting pool. So it's nothing new. They didn't arrest people or call them terrorists or trying to wreck the pool in any way. But really, seriously, this is just a fake thing that Trump put out there, and we've been covering it ad nauseum.

SPEAKER_03

So here we are. Just another thing to take our attention off of the Epstein files, which but you know, you need it sometimes, right?

SPEAKER_02

You need something like that. Add that levity to everything. You saw my uh my theme song for covering the reflecting pool. I anticipate that this is going to happen all summer long. So I made a little song in regards to it. Should I try to play that for you here? Please share your screen or something. There we go. All right, let me okay. That's not it.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, how unusual. John can't find the right cut. Oh, that never happens.

SPEAKER_07

It's a summertime splash in the hot burning sun. I like it. It's a summertime splash in the hot burning sun.

SPEAKER_03

I love it. That's a summertime hit.

SPEAKER_05

Wow. The AI is doing good things lately. It really is interesting. John, I've I wanted to talk to you about AI, the changes coming.

SPEAKER_03

Uh but John wrote the lyrics, though, right?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you it was like a panic thing. I was reading all these weird stories about the reflecting pool, and I thought, I've I've got to have a song for this. And I just wrote it down really quick, and that was it right there. The uh healthy bloom of love, though. I think you want to keep John.

SPEAKER_05

It looks like you're wearing that on your shirt. Healthy bloom of love.

SPEAKER_03

That's the yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Ah, those are the days, huh? Remember when there was days when there was hope?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, no hope now. I don't think we're gonna make it two years, actually. You know, with the Supreme Court doing all the lawmaking in this country, you know, you don't need a Congress anymore. We found that out, they've given all their power up to the president, and now we've got the Supreme Court actually making the laws for us. So it's autopsy turvy.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's nice, yeah, it's good times.

SPEAKER_03

How do we get out of this mess? I don't know. But I hope the coffee?

SPEAKER_05

Time. There really is only time and and activism, of course. Yeah, you know, John. We're waiting for John to figure it out, really.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I'll have a solution. Will you please? It'll come to me in epiphany. I'll let everybody know.

SPEAKER_03

In the meantime, how's your how's your coffee this morning? I want to say hello and thank you to our coffee uh folks here.

SPEAKER_05

I didn't use my who wants to use our buffalo mic. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

Anybody want phone? Okay. Who wants? Yeah, all right.

SPEAKER_05

It's amazing how you duplicated my voices, my voice to make that that little jingle. Because of course, you wouldn't use AI.

SPEAKER_03

No, you'd use right, yeah. Yeah, uh, big plans for the weekend. Anybody have anything going on? You know, last weekend, speaking of nudity, we all missed the Madison naked bike ride.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, come on, we did. Yeah, like what on damn, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I had company. It's uh it's a protest, a naked bike protest. Okay, that's what they're doing. It's not just people getting out naked on a bicycle touring Madison, freaking people out. And by the way, you know, those people as conservatives that get angry about families that are there watching this. Oh, how could they allow their children to see naked bodies? Come on, it's healthy. We all have the naked body.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, as soon as you say the word naked, I think of my little one, two-year-old, whatever they're running, right? When they're just able to run, sure, yeah, and getting her out of the tub, drying her off, and sending her to the living room naked. Go see daddy, nakedy, nakedy, nakedy. Oh my god, the good times. Oh now she's 16, and I'm trying to keep her clothes on.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, well, I can tell her that's a problem in the home now.

SPEAKER_05

No, it's mostly me is the problem. I had a question. I had a question. Uh almost had it. No, lost it.

unknown

Yes, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. You know, I I I had an experience here. Um uh, you know how they take the garbage away, you know, they have these big forks and they stick them around the containers and they dump them into the dumpster, right? Right. Well, well, they had a new a guy who was fairly new at the job, and he left the fork downward instead of back up. And as he searched our mailboxes, he didn't. No, wait, what? He did what your mail exactly, yeah. With the fork on the garbage truck, it was down in the down position, and then it clipped the mailboxes and took that whole thing out. And he left a note saying, Well, we'll be there, we'll come back and we'll fix it. And they did, they came back, and it's a it's a beautiful fixed job. I'm glad that I needed that, yes. Uh wow, that is a new phone scan, a new uh platform for the mailboxes and everything. Yeah, great stuff. Oh, by the way, yeah, I got a tip. Everybody, please get a large mailbox. Okay, I mean, I seriously, you know, you don't want those packages laying next to the mailbox. Sometimes they actually do that. Somebody leaves a package next to the mailbox where everybody can see it. But you know, having a large mailbox just seems to make sense, and they've even got mailboxes now that you can lock. And I don't know how the postal person opens those things, but there's a universal key.

SPEAKER_05

That's from Chicago. I know that there's a universal key they can just pop it open. Okay, but that that's a great idea, and I don't have that problem with my current house because um I got a porch. Yeah, they go they go up to the porch.

SPEAKER_02

What's funny is that way there, boy. You're living in one of those high fancy houses with porches, yes.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, your house is way fancier than mine. I've been there. You're just got the problem because you have multiple people on the end of your driveway where you have multiple boxes. That's a different scenario. I'm on a cold.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. We're talking mailboxes this morning, and uh okay.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I'm sure the question I forgot was way more.

SPEAKER_03

Uh what was happening around, you know. Let's ask, should I ask Luna one more question about what's happening around Madison, Wisconsin this morning? Luna, what's happening around Madison this weekend? Madison, Wisconsin. What's happening this weekend?

SPEAKER_04

This weekend in Madison, you've got a few highlights. There's a Lakeside concert series at the Memorial Union Terrace, a farmer's market on the Capitol Square, and the Madison Night Market downtown. So plenty of fun if you're out and about.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, no, no, the night market is not happening this on Thursdays, isn't it, Luna? It's on Thursdays, but it's not it that I was just checking that yesterday because somebody said there was a night market, but I don't think that's really the case, Luna. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Ah, thanks for that. Okay, they I I know. But seriously delayed.

SPEAKER_05

It's just maddening.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe it was written in that way, and Luna picked up the written way it was, you know, and and interpreted, and we got it, perhaps.

SPEAKER_05

I saw a video yesterday. I'm I'm in the algorithm that shows me robots. I'm fascinated. I have a couple of them vacuuming for me almost every other day. I saw a video of a robot pulling itself out of a box, feet came forward, put the ground, and then the hands were and then it stood up. Now, does that flipping robot that people are buying to bring to their house to do dishes or whatever, does that flipping robot have the delay? Hey, stop folding the cat. No, now stop folding the cat. I mean, I don't think it's ready.

SPEAKER_03

Good question. Really good question. Catherine, didn't you say you read somewhere that they're taking the robots off of Madison Streets or something?

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah yeah yeah I'm gonna share my screen here. Uh where is it? There it is. I know, and they're done for some reason. Uh that's not what I wanted to do. This the uh share screen. All right. Yes, share screen. Don't share the tips anymore. Oh for God's sakes.

SPEAKER_03

Don't share them.

SPEAKER_05

Oh sorry. I'll choose that, but it's not the right one. This is an exercise I'm gonna be doing, but it's here. Is you seeing it now?

SPEAKER_03

I'm seeing you're still seeing exercises that's not what I meant. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, for God's sakes.

SPEAKER_03

All right, but well, what's the story? They're taking these off the screen. Why? What's what's the problem with the robots?

SPEAKER_05

They are um I don't know. I don't know the answer. Okay, the fleet of food delivery robots in the UW campus is getting powered off. There are only 13 of them. You said you saw them all the time. They deliver food from dining halls to students in dorms that have been removed from the UW Madison campus. It was the fourth and largest campus in the United States to use these robots. Um and it does not say exactly why. They were reprogramming in June to be used to deliver groceries in the US. And and I don't know. I can't answer the question. I really came unprepared.

SPEAKER_02

That's that's outrageous, though. I I I would protest that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, they're you know, the these these robots are still not quite working the way, you know, all the time that they're supposed to. Uh, you know, and then this Tesla crash that I'm sure you saw the video, and the guy said, Well, uh, you know, it was on automatic control. I had nothing to do with it.

SPEAKER_05

Went into a building and killed a woman, right?

SPEAKER_03

Killed a woman, yes.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, crashed right into her living room. Yeah, yeah, and it was fast. That thing was hauling. And there was a body in there, there was a person in there in that Tesla?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, oh yeah.

SPEAKER_05

It wasn't an automated uh cab or anything, it was a person, and he lost it.

SPEAKER_03

He's claiming that the uh that it was on automatic control, uh, but I think he was also may have been inebriated.

SPEAKER_05

So that's the thing. You cannot, there's no such thing as automatic control, really. And I want to tell John this well, you have your Tesla. It doesn't literally steer whatever. I've got it, but it doesn't steer for you regularly, it makes mistakes, right? So you keep your hands on the wheel, you know, maybe you'll take a sip or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Well, I mean, you it it gives you a chance to text and watch videos at the same time. So uh I'm just kidding. But you know, it keeps you in the lane, that's what it does. Automatically keeps you in the lane, but it reminds you every so often to put your hands back on the steering wheel. Yes, mine does too. So, I mean, you know, it's high technology. But you know, there was a there's a show on, I don't know, uh, one of the streaming services where it's called upload, and the guy is uploaded. Your memory, everything you ever experience is uploaded into this computer, and you get sent off to a resort of your choice to live your life out forever in digital world. And the the the thing is about it is that he was killed in a car crash at a time when no one has accidents anymore because of you know automatic driving. What show is this? What uh where did you see those? It's called Upload.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, to check that you find the most interesting things. I think it's on Prime. So yeah, okay, upload. So first have you seen Disclosure Day yet, John? I wanted to ask you about that.

SPEAKER_02

I have not no, I have not seen it. We're gonna go see Supergirl probably on Tuesday.

SPEAKER_05

Uh you're prioritizing Supergirl over disclosure day?

SPEAKER_02

Is this Supergirl 2? Is this no? This is Supergirl One, you know, the new DC. This is a whole new actor playing uh Supergirl.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, DC, not Marvel or Marvel vs. Marvel. No, it's DC.

SPEAKER_02

But here's the thing she is edgy as hell, and she is speaking her mind, and she is not afraid.

SPEAKER_05

In fact, she's does she take shirts off on the internet? Does she do that?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Well, not yet, but she could. She may want to actually supergirl. Why not? She says that she thinks she's gonna girl is bisexual, so that really hits the media boy, and that just uh, you know, people are complaining about her as uh being the lead role in that.

SPEAKER_05

It's all right. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

Well, John, when you join us uh next uh Friday, or when I join you on your show, John's Media World Extra on Monday or Tuesday, whenever that is. I can't remember, but uh we're we're Monday, okay. Uh, are you gonna watch it over the weekend, Supergirl?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, uh on Tuesday. Oh, on Tuesday.

SPEAKER_03

All right. Well, next Friday, you can give us your review, right? Johnny at the movies, okay. Well, I know uh we could go on and on, but we've already done that. And um, Catherine, thank you for keeping your clothes on in today's show. We appreciate that.

SPEAKER_02

Must have been difficult, but yes, people are not really to see something like that happen again. Right.

SPEAKER_03

Uh, and uh for all you folks watching out there, just you know, check out uh episode 123 uh on my Facebook page.

SPEAKER_05

And uh it's not there anymore.

SPEAKER_03

Thanks for joining us. Look in the extra tab for well, the episode is there, it's just been censored visually.

SPEAKER_02

Well, a lot of the a lot of these streaming services offer extras with the movies that you can see.

SPEAKER_03

John, I'll I'll send you the extras, John. Come on, about it. Okay, yeah, Catherine, thank you for joining us, John. You as well. Hope you have a great weekend. Good to talk to you both.
