SPEAKER_00

Hey there, good morning.

SPEAKER_01

It is Thursday, July 2nd, 2026. Welcome to Coffee with Gordy. How are you doing?

SPEAKER_05

It's time to have a couple of jobs for you guys.

SPEAKER_01

I just made a fresh pot of coffee. What kind of hey, hey, what kind of coffee did you make? What kind of coffee? Oh my god. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Well done. That's Larry David, right? He's got a new show.

SPEAKER_00

What's that?

SPEAKER_03

That's that's Larry David's voice, isn't it? Coffee.

SPEAKER_00

Who wants coffee? Yeah. That part, this guy? Hey, does anybody want coffee? No, no. Who wants coffee? No, that's just a random. Actually, he's a comedian, and I could look it up if I had time in another comedian.

SPEAKER_03

Sounds just like Larry David.

SPEAKER_00

Kinda, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And you're watching his new show, right? You're checking out Larry David's new show.

SPEAKER_00

I've seen the first episode, uh, Life, Liberty, and whatever it is, something uh like that on HBO. I uh I liked a couple of the segments a lot there, and then there were a couple of segments I thought, eh, it's just Larry being Larry, but uh too much Larry David.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, it's there's a quantity that you can take, one can take of Larry David for me.

SPEAKER_00

It's just the it's the first episode, so let's see where it goes from there, right? Yeah, first episode is always, you know, this is this is what it's going to be, so get used to it kind of episode. So we'll see how that goes.

SPEAKER_03

It's awkward. The characters haven't been developed yet, they haven't figured themselves out.

SPEAKER_00

Well, he plays a different character in every segment. Uh I don't want to give it away, but it's all historical. It's sketch comedy based on loosely based on history and historical moments in in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

SPEAKER_03

So which would have happened, perhaps, regardless of the presidency, right? We I think you and I can agree this presidency currently is a thing. It's a thing, it's changed because you and I were very cognizant. I was 10, you were 20, during the um give or take, give or take, because I just read an article that put those numbers in perspective during the 200th anniversary. And my family and I remembering at 10, for goodness sakes, how much control did I have over how much celebration or whatever? But they went to a party and I gotta find that photograph of my mom in the naked, you know, practically naked uh nightgown. Right. And I remember wearing a I dressed up too for the 200th anniversary, but now we don't want to. There's a guy, I just saw this this morning. Can I just add this in? Oh, sure. Chief content officer for Forbes magazine, chief content officer. Now, what does that mean? The guy does the social media, right? Or or makes sure that the content is on the Forbes a magazine. Is it he's a writer, he's a political writer, maybe? He's just wrote written a musical, he's got a musical out. Did you hear about it?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I heard something about this, but yeah, I don't know anything more than what you've just said.

SPEAKER_03

Ben Franklin, if he were a rock star.

SPEAKER_00

Well, in his day, he was kind of a rock star.

SPEAKER_03

Um, so now they're making him an actual rock star. It's a musical for God's sakes. Okay. So this is this is what we're doing, this is how we're reacting to this presidency, is to say, you know, there was a time when presidents were kind of cool, kind of smart, kind of productive.

SPEAKER_00

And you're saying that's not the case uh these days.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Um, by the way, I can't stand the word content. I am so fed up with this word. I wish we could, you know, what's your content? Oh, what does that website have good content or bad content? Oh give me a break on content.

SPEAKER_03

That's a terrible word. You're right.

SPEAKER_00

It takes all the personality of things out of and just makes it oh, you know, a soapbox. It it makes you I don't know what it means. Content, it's pictures, it's video, it's text, it's you know, whatever. It's a story.

SPEAKER_03

You're right.

SPEAKER_00

That is the word stories.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, it's the word of the century. You're not wrong. You're right. No, it's eyeballs. It's eyeballs. Content is getting eyeballs. Content is what my daughter has been inundated with. I understand your entire first decade.

SPEAKER_00

I'm just uh I'm just tired of that. We need a we need a new word for content. You're right. Okay. Uh speaking of content, let's get to some weather for today. Good morning, Luna, our fake AI weather person and news person. Good morning, Luna.

SPEAKER_03

Good morning. I am going. Oh my god, you mumbled. You mumbled something and she heard it and stopped.

SPEAKER_00

I know. Well, she's she's very polite and she doesn't want to interrupt us. But weather, uh, let's get to the Madison, Wisconsin weather forecast, Luna.

SPEAKER_04

Absolutely. Today in Madison, you can expect a lovely high around the mid-80s, and tonight we'll settle into a comfortable low in the mid-60s. It's shaping up to be a gorgeous day.

SPEAKER_00

You know, Luna, yesterday you gave us a high, and I let it go by because I thought maybe I didn't hear it correctly. But you said the high was going to be 83, and it was into the 90s. So what happened yesterday?

SPEAKER_04

Ah, you caught me. Sometimes those little predictions have a mind of their own. But today, I'm feeling spot on.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And what did she say was the high today going to be?

SPEAKER_00

Luna, what's the high today in Madison going to be?

SPEAKER_04

Today we're looking at a high around 85 degrees. So a warm but not scorching day.

SPEAKER_03

Uh she just she determines what's scorching or not. How does she know what scorching means? 87 and I'm hearing 89 and intermittent rain.

SPEAKER_00

61% of the Luna, how long have you been forecasting the weather?

SPEAKER_04

Well, I've been your trusty AI co-host for quite a while now. I'm not perfect, but I'm always learning. So keep those umbrellas handy just in case.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

You know, if I if I'm really rude to her, does she does she just sort of defend herself? What does she do?

SPEAKER_00

Give it a try.

SPEAKER_03

Well, Luna, I just want to know. There are a lot of people listening right now, and they they are not interested in me being abusive. But if I were to tell you you were crazy and not that bright and unattractive and all kinds of horrible things, I'm sure people have said things like this to you. How do you respond?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Luna, you suck. What do you think? Oh, you two.

SPEAKER_04

I know it's all in good fun. I'm here to brighten the day, not take things personally. So let's keep things fun and caffeinated, shall we?

SPEAKER_00

No, I think we should just get into this. What's the matter with you? We've got some kind of attitude today. Oh, I see what you're doing.

SPEAKER_04

But trust me, I've got no attitude, just pure enthusiasm to keep this show rolling. So what's next on our agenda? Oh my god. So what's next? Please move on.

SPEAKER_00

Change the subject. Change the subject. Yeah. Okay. Thank you, Luna. Okay. Ah, get some different music here. Here are some headlines. What are we going to talk about?

SPEAKER_03

I like it. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Oh boy. I don't know where to begin. There are two big love stories from New York City to talk about. Um also, do you know what the word fexting means? We'll talk about fexting.

SPEAKER_03

I'm afraid it starts with an F. It's not a nice thing. Yeah. I don't want to talk about it.

SPEAKER_00

Um, Donald Trump, of course, has to have the his share of the spotlight, you know, most days. He showed off uh the new Air Force One. We can mention that.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, from Qatar, Qatar, Qatar.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. And it's also National I Forgot Day. It's National I Forgot Day Day. So, which one of those wonderful subjects do you want to talk about? And I've got some show and tell, by the way, too, today. I've got some pictures and a little video to show.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, well, whatever you got pictures or video of, I want to start with that.

SPEAKER_00

That sounds like that's not cutter. Let me find it now. Okay. All right. Kill the music, first of all. Hang on. Oh boy.

SPEAKER_03

Like I was about to get a massage, but there's nobody here to do that.

SPEAKER_00

Ham. Well, we'll talk about that after the show. You can get your favorite masseuse to come over and give you uh uh a back crack.

SPEAKER_03

You know, while you're doing what you're doing, I will fill the air with noise. You cannot mumble about your mumbling, but uh uh that that I in when I lived in LA, yes, a drive-by um massage person was a drive-by massage person.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, sound this sounds sketchy already.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, no, is it's normal. I mean, having people come to your to your house to do massages is normal, right? In in LA, of course. It's a service service area. I'm gonna get myself centered here because you're changing everything.

SPEAKER_00

Hang on, I'll get I'll get this out of the way and we can uh tell us about your drive-by massage person.

SPEAKER_03

Just that they they came to the house and it was awesome. Had a you know living room that was plenty big to to throw a uh table up into, lower the shades, and I'm in a massage room, but it's my own living room, the apartment that I was renting. Wow, yeah, okay. So I would love to have a masseuse come to the house. And I interestingly, my ex-husband and I, when we were young and making money, um, sponsored and bought a table for a an actress friend of his so that she could be a mobile masseuse. I just remembered that. She owes me a massage.

SPEAKER_00

I gotta call her an actress friend. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, brilliant actress. And actually, I've shown her to you. Her name is Barbie Wengert, and she's an actress in New York. And I've seen her, she just pops up on Law and Order. I'm like, uh uh Barbie.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I I know an uh a former actress. Um uh well, totally. I I I don't have it together enough to get into it right now. You remember the movie Mar, is it Marnie and Me with Jennifer Anderson?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, that sounds like the right the right thing.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I know the next door neighbor friend person, Marnie and me. And uh get the cast uh list.

SPEAKER_03

On it. Okay, so on it. Yeah, I like dropping names. I think it's fun. Where's the writer director? Open in the IMD app, fine. Just no, no, I don't have the app, so forget it. Oh, this is gonna take a second.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, Luna, uh, who's in the cast of Marnie and me besides Jennifer Aniston?

SPEAKER_04

I'm sorry, but you've hit the time limit for this conversation. Oh boy, we got the conversation going.

SPEAKER_03

Wait a second. We get 14 minutes with her and then she takes a break. That's it. You know, you know what, Luna? You and your coffee breaks. This is gonna be an issue. Let's let's talk after the show. She's got her own year. Come to my office after the show and we'll have a little call, a little chat. I'm not gonna cast of Marty and me. I'm not gonna get it. Your friend's gonna leave without any kind of it's a Lisa Varga.

SPEAKER_00

Ah do you know Lisa Varga?

SPEAKER_03

Lisa Varga, actress? No, you're friends with her?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

What are you doing here talking to me?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. Let me think about that. She's stunning. Yeah, she's she's great, and uh she lives in South Bend, Indiana. Get out! We did some video television work uh occasionally with her. She's still involved in video work.

SPEAKER_03

Uh she is acting, I suspect.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she uh yeah, she played, I think, the next door neighbor in Marnie and me, or Jennifer Aniston's, you know, good buddy.

SPEAKER_03

Well, she can she's worthy of Jennifer Aniston's friendship, I think. At when looking like that, typical LA actress. Yeah, kidding.

SPEAKER_00

No, she well, sorry. She's not bitter. I was only there for two years. Not bitter or angry. All right. Well, let's get to the uh love stories out of New York City. Did you watch any of the video of the Empire State Building Daredevil Love Birds?

SPEAKER_03

Only what you showed me. That was pretty intense. Explain, please, for those who do not know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, um, the fame-seeking pair, uh, and I can't pronounce their Angela and Nicola and Ivan Kuznatoff, something like that. So Angela and Ivan, they climbed up 1,454 feet to the top of the Empire State Building, all the way to the very tippy top of the antenna without any without harnesses, at least in in that part of the of the climb. They just and apparently they've done this for a while. Uh, in fact, there's a Netflix uh special that they uh uh a documentary uh called Skywalker's A Love Story, which aired in January of 2024 at the Sundance Film Festival.

SPEAKER_03

This is a promotion of their film.

SPEAKER_00

They did it all for you know the glory of uh, you know, well, by the way, they uh Nicole uh what's his name? Uh Ivan proposed to uh Angela at the very top of the of the antenna. On his knees, yeah, he got on his knees and gave her something. Not an antenna, and they were up there for a good half hour or so, and then they got off of the that and then they got arrested, of course. Um and uh you know, but so what? I mean, they're they're daredevils, they'll pay the fine, they'll pay the fees. They're I'm sure they're out now, and they've got a lot of video footage and uh a lot of attention, and the police are and fire departments not happy about that kind of thing, any kind of stunt like that, you know, costs them time and whether they should be.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, should not be airplanes or people.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, here's what else they've climbed uh the Bay Ridge in San Francisco. I don't know what the Bay Ridge building is, but it's a big one, and the Merdeka uh 118 building in Kuala Lumpur, uh, the world's second tall, the world's second tallest building. So good for Ivan and uh Angela, and congratulations, and yeah. So good deal. They got a lot of good video.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, did you get for their movie?

SPEAKER_00

Did you get the invite for the uh wedding tomorrow of uh Kelsey? Uh Travis I almost said Kelsey Grammar, Travis Kelsey, Travis Kelsey, and uh this uh this um pop star Taylor Swift.

SPEAKER_03

This pop star, this pop star called what is her name, Taylor What?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, Taylor What or not?

SPEAKER_03

Swift Swift Swift anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Madison Square Garden is where it's all happening, and uh they were loading in lobsters and trees and golf gear. What are they gonna do? They're gonna have a big party in Madison Square Garden.

SPEAKER_03

What when you get a lot of money, when you become no longer just you know, comfortable and you become wealthy, ultra super rich, yeah. Well, and and and when you get to that level, yeah, it it's like it's power, money is power, sure, and power, as we now understand, does corrupt, yeah, almost without exception to a certain extent. What I'm asking you now is what I hand you a million dollars right now. Now, not not gonna ask the typical question, where do you go buy? But I mean, what kind of millionaire would you be? Because I established many years ago I would be a very good millionaire. In case someone wants to make me one, I just want you to know I'd be good at it. I'd be kind, I would give, I would invest in my family and my closest friends, and I would not get married at Madison Square Garden. I would not.

SPEAKER_00

Would you get married somewhere else? What are you talking about?

SPEAKER_03

I will not be marrying any anybody anytime ever again. So just so you know, that's not one of the things in my in my bucket list. Done that in there, but um, I just know I would never be the kind of millionaire that there are out there and billionaires grifting, taking more, giving less. And as a matter of fact, this leads right to there's a New York Times.

SPEAKER_00

What you asked me a question. Well, what I'd uh say a chance to answer. I would say, screw all you people. I'm taking my million bucks and I'm going on a trip around the world, and I'll talk to you in a few months. That's what that's what you do. Yeah, and then I'd spend it like a crazy man, like a sailor on shore leave. I'd I'd go nuts, I'd buy anything I wanted to buy, and then I would uh go home and count my the rest of my money.

SPEAKER_03

And your family's at the door knocking, going, Where's my nickel?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, where's mine? Yeah, no, of course, I well, rather than pay the taxes, I would donate money to good charitable causes because you'd have to donate half of it, yeah. I know, yeah, yeah. Anyway, they're expecting a thousand guests at Madison Square Garden for Taylor and Travis, uh ceremony filled with musical performances. Um, there's still a lot of things that we don't know about this, but there's a rehearsal dinner tonight for a hundred guests at the Infosys Theater, Infosys Theater, a space that normally seats up to 5,000 people, 5,600 people. But so they're having rehearsal dinner tonight.

SPEAKER_03

In a space for 100 people, in a space big enough for five. I can't even get my hands in perspective. Why are they taking all these large venues? Why are they taking large venues and only having a hundred or a thousand people?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, they what I I think they have a lot of security at all of these venues.

SPEAKER_03

So they're spending money on people.

SPEAKER_00

That's what they're they're spending money also. I mean, they're gonna have a thousand guests, and these are all you know, A-listers. I mean, they're very, you know, that would fit in a cathedral.

SPEAKER_03

Couldn't that you don't need to take Madison Square Garden, you take a cathedral that seats a thousand, have a wedding, right? They're having an event, they're having a concert for a thousand people.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they're public persons, and they you know, they could do it too. They could go somewhere very remote in a private ceremony, do it somewhere up in Canada or somewhere, you know, overseas, somewhere, you know. Uh they're out loud people without telling anybody, and then announce it later and give all that money to charitable organizations, or they could have a big to-do and make a big deal out of it because they're big-time celebrities and they'll get a lot of publicity and lots of great gifts from all their other rich friends. So you know, it's uh we're we're gonna be a little we're in a world where it's the haves and the have nots now. It's not uh left right, it's rich or really not rich at all. Yeah, that's my let me get off the soapbox here.

SPEAKER_03

No, it's it's real, and uh, you sound you sound a little angry about it today.

SPEAKER_00

I'm a little bitter and angry, but I'm happy because the Cubs won 23 to 3 yesterday. Go Cubs.

unknown

Three to three.

SPEAKER_03

Why did the slaughter rule not happen? You and I didn't laugh and you mags made me laugh because after a while, they stopped using real pictures.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't realize they they're like they didn't this time, they didn't want to use any of their bullpen, the San Diego Padres, so they just they just well, we've lost let's just save it for tomorrow. Yeah, right, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, that's hysterical.

SPEAKER_00

It was a big game. Cubs are doing okay, they're in second place. I think they're five games behind the brewers. Brewers are in first place. Pardon me?

SPEAKER_03

Here we are in Wisconsin for those who don't know. Yes, yes, we're in Wisconsin, so we like the Cubs and we like the Brewers, so we're we're in a happy place.

SPEAKER_00

By the way, you mentioned just before we started, we have you have friends out uh Out east watching the show this morning, is that true?

SPEAKER_03

Possibly, possibly, if they decided to pick it up. This is um, I'm gonna go check Facebook to see if anybody's on us. I doubt it, but I'll I'll I'll not do that right now. I'll just say this if they are and if they happen to see it. This is my mother's best friend, Betty Booth, and her daughters. I I only saw Barbie and Donna in the picture, but there's also Sally, and they were known by my mother as the Booth Girls. The Booth Girls, the what girls, the booth girls, the book girls, booth girls, booth is my mother's best friend, and um not to be confused with Betty Boop, not to be confused with Betty Boop.

SPEAKER_00

If you know who I'm talking about, you know Betty Boop.

SPEAKER_03

Of course, I do, of course. I am as almost as old as you. Yes, I remember the name Betty Boop, but she was not part of my Zeitgeist back then. I think she's before my time, honestly.

SPEAKER_00

But Betty Booth is I need to get my zeitgeist checked.

SPEAKER_03

It's been bothering me. I woke up stiff today, too.

SPEAKER_00

My zeitgeist was I need a massage.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, do you know what I just want to say one thing about can I just wait? Can I just say go ahead, Catherine? I mean, I just never get to talk.

SPEAKER_00

I'll just win over here.

SPEAKER_03

No one ever listens to me.

SPEAKER_00

I'll here, let me go ahead. I'll be I'll be over here when you need me.

SPEAKER_03

I just want to say people like the booths, Bill and Betty Booth, don't come along that often on this earth. They just don't. They were they are Bill is no longer with us, but as a couple, they were amongst the most giving people of their themselves, church going, she was the district leader of the Girl Scouts, and she's my mom's best friend. Thank you. She's my mom's best friend. So when she came to Girl Scout camp with her um accordion to lead the entire camp in song at the end of the day, I got to say, that's my mom's best friend. I know her personally, she might be driving me home at the end of this session. I mean, that's how well I know her. I knew a rock star, and she didn't have to get married at Madison Square Garden either.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. All right, thank you for sharing that story. Why is you why do you have a microphone cable that's like a hundred feet long hanging from your mic stairs? In case I want to walk to your house with really you gonna do a uh Phil Donahue and walk around the audience with things?

SPEAKER_03

I it's just the cable I had, mocker.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, okay, all right. Fexting else. Oh, get something else. A story about fexting, and we'll get to this in a moment. Uh what?

SPEAKER_03

What's such a nasty word? I'm I'm already uninterested.

SPEAKER_00

F-E-X-T-I-N-G. Sorry, fighting over texts.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, fighting over text.

SPEAKER_00

If you fext with your partner, um you'll want to hear the highlights of this study. Arguing over text is generally frowned upon. You know, I like it when things are frowned upon myself. When you know, people don't frown enough these days. So let's frown about texting or yes, fexting. It's not sexting, it's fexting. The conventional wisdom that written messages leave too much room for misunderstanding because they strip away the non-verbal cues, body language, facial expressions, tone of voice. You don't get any of that when you're fexting, fexting, finding over text, because it's short, first of all, short form. Right. Uh, this research team of the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships. That sounds like a fun crowd. Uh they reviewed, they reviewed 15 studies comparing face-to-face conflicts to digital ones, arguments over text, voice messages, email, instant messaging, video, uh, video calls, and phone calls. To their surprise, get this the research team found that no single form of communication consistently produced better outcomes. In fact, it doesn't really matter. Some studies found no significant difference between face-to-face and digital arguments. Um, they did find in-person conversations led to better results, however, while a few pointed to unexpected advantages of digital communication. For instance, for digital, uh, not having to respond immediately can help some people avoiding stumbling into uh over their words, shutting down or lashing out.

SPEAKER_03

This is an article for an article's sake. This is silly. I mean, come on.

SPEAKER_00

Well, being a Catherine, let me I'll get right to the bottom line here. The cons outside of lack of tone and body language, uh, to help you read the room is that texting can quickly become a rapid-fire exchange where you're flooded with emotions like anger or sadness and focused on winning a fight versus understanding the underlying issues. So here's how to fight fair over text. Number one, be considerate of the time you send the text. In other words, if you know that person is driving through heavy traffic and you're texting them, you know, you should be considerate of the time and the place, and you know, maybe they're having a bad day. So back off of your text, you know, send it later or think about it. Um, if you feel angry or emotionally activated by a text from your partner, wait before responding. And then this one I like follow-up in person, plus affection in person really helps mend fences. So there you have it. Isn't that great advice?

SPEAKER_03

Men fences or mend fences. What what I said men fences or mend fences, mend mend fence, mend I thought you said affection helps men fences in the personal file.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I got you.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, you only hear half of what I say because I say too much.

SPEAKER_00

I said you only have I'm sorry, were you talking? I okay. By the way, we haven't checked the bird feeder this morning. I put some bird feed out there. Let's just check and see. There was some activity earlier, and now it's uh yeah, nothing's happening. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Well, there is a bird on the other side, that's why it's rocky.

SPEAKER_00

Was there? I don't think so. Was it? Oh, wait, let me just see.

SPEAKER_03

You don't see him? He's on the other side, he's pecking away.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I don't see him.

SPEAKER_03

Really?

SPEAKER_00

No, let's try this. Here we go. Oh yeah, he just he just jumped off because he knew because you've got the big camera going.

SPEAKER_03

I wonder if there's a click when you move the camera angle, like it'll go fast.

SPEAKER_00

The camera is in the kit no, you don't know you're not zooming in.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

No, they uh they don't hear a click because uh the camera is inside the window. Oh, it's on my side of the window.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna be on mine. Yes, I do, jelly bean.

SPEAKER_00

What jelly bean? Is that what you you're a dork. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

You know what I mean? Jelly bean, it's a phrase. Where have you been?

SPEAKER_00

I've been right here. It's national I forgot day. You know, I don't often check the national day calendar, but on a day like this, we can't forget it because it's national I Forgot Day. Uh hits pause on it hits pause on life's hectic schedules, acting as the ultimate holiday reset. What? Apologize for what slipped your mind. Forgive yourself for mental slip-ups and blame it all on the calendar because it's national I Forgot Day. Now, how do you celebrate I Forgot Day? Take some time to address any special events that slipped your mind over the past few of few months, like send a belated card or make an overdue phone call to catch up. Because you know, you can say, Hey, I forgot, and today's national I Forgot day, so I'm catching up.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna start uh uh uh sending cards for birthday. I'm gonna start doing that. You know, those are good times, yeah, card sending days instead of just texting somebody, hey, hey, yes, and sending them or putting it on Facebook so they have to go through a thousand notifications of everyone.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it seems to me the Hallmark uh card company is doing just fine, you know. They still, if you you go to Walgreens or any drugstore or any place, I mean, there's still tons and tons of greeting cards, right? Do you know what that says? Any any occasion.

SPEAKER_03

What and people today that don't know or remember that, younger people don't know about the card world and aren't part of it. I mean, there is nothing more heartwarming than receiving a letter in the mail. And if it's a card, they thought of you, they went to the store, they found a flipping stamp, and they went to the post office.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, or you actually took the time to write up maybe an extra little note inside the card.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you. My mother was amazing, my mother sent me Valentine's cards. My mother sent me Valentine's cards.

SPEAKER_00

Oh sweet. Okay. Uh, here's another way to celebrate National I Forgot Day. Put us, I love this one. This is like the best advice ever. Say it, say it if you're forgetful. What do you think you should do? Here's an idea: put a small tray near your front door for your keys, wallet, and sunglasses. Keeping must-have items in one designated spot guarantees you won't lose them before leaving.

SPEAKER_03

Been there, done that. I got the bowl. I should start making you put it in.

SPEAKER_00

Catherine, I happened to stop by your place yesterday for you know, you invited me to dinner and and with the family there, and it was great. And I walked out like I do like every other time. Walked out, forgot my wallet, my keys, my hat, and my sunglasses.

SPEAKER_03

Which you always put together in your always put together and you set it down in the same space.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, big, big old uh trunk.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you gotta put it on the key table. There's a key table that's where you drop your keys when you walk in the house. There's a key table. Yes, that's where you should. Yes, numbers. I will show you, and you will get used to it. And you walk right past it on your way out, and you should glance over there and go, Oh, well, that's mine. Okay, it's where I also put things that people have left behind by accident on the table, and then they see it on the way. I'm a very organized person. Did I mention that to you before?

SPEAKER_00

I want to show and tell here. I want to show you this picture, first of all, and that's sunset over beautiful Lake Sycamore outside my window. Well, see, that's really a retention prop pond, and it drains all winter. And then it's a wilderness area, yeah. And the sandhill cranes are there, and the ducks and the geese are there, and the squirrels and the chipmunks they're all frolicking out there. But uh, that's a sunset from a few days ago.

SPEAKER_03

That's really nice to have that to look at. That is really spectacular.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, thank you. Now, the other day I was telling you about my my dog Barry and how he stole the Afghan off of my uh off of my bed and made it his own. That's my grandmother Katie's Afghan that she made uh probably 70 years ago. Yeah, let's lean to lean here. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_03

I can't wait.

SPEAKER_00

Isn't that a cute? That's cute, and that let's see. What is this picture? Let's just see what this oh, this is my control pan. I know for those of you junior broadcasters at home and podcasters, you want to know what the setup is. Uh, there it is.

SPEAKER_03

That's pretty impressive. So the far left, the red buttons is what far left red buttons device. What's that called?

SPEAKER_00

Uh that well, that is my voice processor. Oh, I can do special voices uh should I ever uh want to, but I can't do it at the moment.

SPEAKER_03

At the moment, so I gotta get that hooked up and the middle one with the multiple colors, the rainbow one.

SPEAKER_00

That's the uh roadcaster, that's my mixer, and also the buttons that you see there, the colorful buttons, are for things like this. When I push a button, those are uh those are pads, voice you know, sound sound pads. You are still the big mic in the middle there.

SPEAKER_03

I think you can see that uh oh yeah, that's so what about that mic? How does that still work? That's like from the 50s or something.

SPEAKER_00

Well, no, not really. That's a sure super 55. Thank you for asking. And uh let's just keep leaning. Uh, it's a super 55, so it's an upgraded mod. Yes, it looks exactly like the old ones from the 50s, but this is this is built for today's standards, so they upgraded things, but they kept the basic shell of the microphone the same, and it's a pretty good mic, it fits my voice pretty well, I think. Most of the time, it sure does.

SPEAKER_03

Big canyon voice, and so you don't need to have a a screen like I do on mine.

SPEAKER_00

No, but I I do well, I do have a uh a screen protector kind of thing that I don't use it because it just gets in the way.

SPEAKER_03

Well, and you know how to not pop your peas, you know how to avoid that.

SPEAKER_00

I'm perfect at not popping my peas.

SPEAKER_03

I'll tell you something really interesting. If you'll get rid of this photograph and let me be seen, I've been doing 11 labs.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, nobody knows what you're talking about now. But what what are you care for the I I I know what you're talking about, but for people not in the voice business and not in the whatever business we call this, the content business.

SPEAKER_03

Can I demo it? Do you think? Can I possibly demo it?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. If you if you can hear it, we can hear it. So if you want to dial up something, so explain to people what 11 Labs is.

SPEAKER_03

So 11 Labs. It's a platform, is a platform. I gotta make my screen empty so I can see you and do this. Um, 11 Labs is a platform that you can go to if you are making a video and you need a voice, and an AI created voice will voice it for you.

SPEAKER_00

So you've joined the other side, you've become an AI voice. Is that it?

SPEAKER_03

Well, I didn't get to that part yet, but yes, if you are a voice actor, so impatient. I like telling slow stories, I like time.

SPEAKER_00

We've gone 39 minutes, which is a new record for the show. So yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Go ahead. Sure, it's fascinating. Okay, 11 Labs. You can also go as a voice actor and create your own avatar. Use your voice, it will take which I gave it 30 minutes of various voicing from me. I've done shows, I've done commercials, I've done narrations, and so I put them all together in a 30-minute file, sent it to them. And let me see if I can get this to happen. Share my screen. That's this, right? Share screen, and I'm gonna share. I think, oh yeah, there it is. Share this, and I've created my voice. It's bizarre. You ready for this? Let's see if you can hear it. Let's see if you can hear it.

SPEAKER_02

A voice people believe, warm, thoughtful, naturally, conversational, with the confidence of a veteran broadcaster and the curiosity of a storyteller.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Is that your real voice or is that the made-up AI voice? Uh uh Okay. We're we were hearing speakers, I think, and uh it wasn't coming from your computer.

SPEAKER_03

So I don't think I can make that happen. I'm not sure how to make that happen. But yeah, 11 Labs, and I'm under my real name, you know, my my name. It's so if you look for Katherine Lake on 11 Labs, yeah, you can get that. And what's really freaky about it, are you still looking at it? No, you didn't get to see it, did you? No. Um oh I didn't I didn't share. It did share.

SPEAKER_00

Uh no, it didn't, uh we didn't see your screen if that's what you're asking. We didn't see your screen.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, oh, stop screen. It says that's interesting. I wonder why. Okay, sorry. Anyway, present. That's why I should hit present.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Um, anyway, um, I forget what I was trying to say, but yeah, if you go to elevenlabs.com, you can find my voice and use it for yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, Catherine, we could go on and on, but we've already accomplished that. So we uh appreciate you you participating in today's effort, and uh hope your friends from out east enjoyed it, enjoyed the show. The boots okay. SPEAKER_00

What? What are you sorry for?

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_00
