I I get up early, but I'm usually in the shower at about eight o'clock or so.

Oh, okay. All right. And then you take the dog for a walk?

Well, I have breakfast. Uh the wife takes the dog out first, does all that stuff, and then I take her out after that. So yeah, it's a routine. You know, it's so nice to have a dog make sure that you get your exercise in on a regular schedule.

I hate it. But but I feel good for it. Yeah.

Now, do you walk with her or do you just go out and play? You go out, you have a large yard to play in, and she needs to play and run around.

Yeah, we don't normally uh take walks. I mean, it's uh it's yeah, it's an experience to walk with her, and you want to always keep training her to walk by your side, not ahead of you. And that's the thing that's a little more difficult. It it slows down our pace. And when you're walking, normally the best way to walk is to fast walk. You can't do that when you're trying to train the dog to do something like that. We're always training the dog, it's three years and we're still training. No, I mean, she's really good. She stays in the yard, you know, no leash and all that stuff, but uh, you know, there are things she's very excitable.

So well, and and I'm just proud of you because you are uh uh obviously a healthy, slender man. You have never, you know, packed it on, and like I have over the years. Um but the dog, um, my sister's having trouble with that very thing. You're gonna go out twice. You're gonna go out for you and walk fast, and then you can take the leisurely with the dog. You can't do both at the same time, and that's that's what she's struggling with right now, I think.

Yeah, and and the other thing too about uh keeping the dog at your pace is that the leash has to kind of be behind you and it's rubbing against the back of your legs, and it's very uncomfortable because you got to keep that dog by your side, and not only that, but continually feed her treats as you go along on that walk.

Uh, luckily, I have a dog park nearby, so uh I get the best of both worlds, right? Best of both worlds on the leash till we get to the park, and then it's uh you know, it's fun time for the dog, and uh he loves it now. Now he didn't he didn't like it at first, but now he he uh he likes it a lot. Uh hey, it's uh fourth of July weekend. Let's uh let's get to the uh check of the weather. Uh things are looking, I guess, partly partly sunny out there this morning. And uh Luna, uh, can you give us the Madison, Wisconsin forecast for today and for the holiday weekend? Take your time. Luna, are you with us? I think you turned her down. No, I turned it back up here. I'm not hearing her though. Um it's a hollow. You know what I think? I think what happened. I think what happened was I got a phone call just before the show, and it may have knocked the uh the Bluetooth out of there. Anyway, well, it's gonna be warm, the heat is on. What's Catherine do? Oh, you know, that's a first you okay?

Yeah, from what I understand, this heat dome that we're all under at this point is gonna move west. Yeah, yeah, really from the uh east. All right, now it's in the midwest.

Absolutely. So for the 4th of July in Madison, expect a mix of clouds and scattered thunderstorms, especially in the morning and evening. Highs around the low 80s, keep an eye out for those pop-up storms, but there will be dry stretches in between.

And here in Madison, tonight is the night for fireworks at Warner Park, and then tomorrow night it's at Breeze Stevens Field. So if you're watching here locally, you want to go to some fireworks, you got plenty of choices, but those will be pretty good. Yeah.

Do I have a Chicago park in my head when I'm thinking that somebody canceled? I know they also canceled them at the Edgewater, but did they ever cancel them over the years at Warner? No. I think they've been going on all this time.

The weather did not agree once. I I can't remember, but I think it was. I'm not sure. There's a park in Chicago where they just decided because of the lightning.

Yeah, yeah. There was a park in Chicago that stopped doing fireworks, period, because they gotten out of hand. It was all people doing it for themselves and going to this park with their collection. So it was it was mayhem. But Madison, we're better than that. We don't do that kind of crap.

Well, yeah, the fireworks weren't so welcome when it was involved in wars. That's what I'm thinking.

Well, you know, yeah, I I I wish that I could make it to the great American state fair, you know. Yeah, I know what's going on out there. It's so crowded that it's hard to imagine actually going, you know, waiting in lines and I'm sure it's the heat and the humidity that's maybe keeping a few people away, right?

And part of the thing. Yeah, now did you see the uh footage of the stage falling uh on some dancers as they were rehearsing? No, that was a rehearsal. It was a rehearsal, and okay, thank goodness nobody was hurt, but a huge part of the stage could have been one of those dancers, yeah. Yeah, and uh it was quite the video. I mean, it's it was not like a little chunk fell off of the stage, a big uh part of the stage six feet wide.

What this what is going on? I you know, I watched, I watched, I watched uh Morning Joe this morning, and they were talking about great books to read about previous presidents. Did you? And it's like, good God.

Wait, great, great books to read about what?

Previous presidents, and this one particularly was about Roosevelt. I didn't know he was from North Dakota, of course he was, and and just all the things that he did locally Teddy and as a person, you know, just good God, I where what's going on? I don't know if you I don't recognize it. I don't recognize the experiment.

They're opening up a Teddy Roosevelt uh presidential library, that's why he's that's why okay, okay. But did you see Trump went to go visit and he started talking to the Teddy Roosevelt um hologram? I think it was selected with him, didn't you know? Like he was a real person. Yes, yes, uh, yeah, that was something.

And then he talked about it later how he talked to Teddy Roosevelt. And Teddy, of course, was way, way back just after the golden age, which is where Trump wants to go back to at the turn of the century.

Yes. So uh yeah. Well, uh, do you either of you have any special plans for uh this holiday weekend? Uh John, I'll start with you. Do you do you're you're hiding?

I don't have any special plans. I don't know. I'm actually working on something for uh my show, uh John's Media World Extra, where I am going to have, I think bi-weekly a segment on healthcare because we've got two incredible individuals out there who are doing so much work with healthcare. One kind of dissolves all of the myths and ridiculous things that RFK Jr. is coming out with, and another one is taking a look each and every time at a different country that has universal health care and explaining what they have for health care. It's really true. We're the only ones. Short. We do not have it because you know the other countries around the world are the radical ones, you know, believe in socialism and universal health care. And we're, of course, normal by charging people and uh making sure that they can't get health care when getting wealthy, yeah.

Uh my brother, who is not a MAGA, but a Trump voter and a Republican, and you know, swimming in the sea of crazy, uh his his word that he doesn't like socialism. Socialist, he's he's followed the fox trail on that a dog with a big nose. Yeah, he just is all about so he doesn't like what's going on in New York City, he's never liked Bernie Sanders. That word is a trigger for him, which is just so maddening. You're not a billionaire. Why would that be a trigger for you? You are part of the 99%.

Exactly. Yes. I uh I had a whole show on what is democratic socialism, and you have to include it with democratic socialism. You can't just have socialism out there, although that's not as bad. Uh, it certainly isn't communism, but you know, democratic socialism is a huge wave now and it's really catching on, which is surprising because you know, you didn't expect it. I didn't expect it. Now these candidates that are declaring themselves democratic socialists are winning their elections. Now we have uh uh Francesca Hong here in the state running for governor, and people are loving her. She is really doing well, it's because she's point-blank honest about what she wants to do, and I think that agenda appeals to a lot of people. It's just that you got to break through, you've got that D next to your name, and a lot of people don't care about the details. If you have an R, great, you know, you don't even have to think about it. So if you got that D, you have to kind of listen, see what the agenda is. And if they heard it, they would really love it. And boy, the money that we would save having universal health care is just mind-boggling, so mind-boggling thousands a year for everybody. Yes, absolutely.

Well, the Republicans are tying that socialism word or socialist word to communism.

I mean, they're they're already out there just putting those two together and uh absolutely you know, it's funny because they're not vilifying the word socialism, you know, like they did liberal and progressive and democrat. Instead, they are vilifying socialism by calling it communism, which is just you know, mind uh you know, yeah, hilarious.

Gordy, Sly is not liking Hong for some reason. What is his what what do you know about it, Gordy? Didn't you read um Sly's commentary on Facebook?

Um for for non-Matasodian, Sly being a long, very liberal talk show host, uh working man. I mean, that guy has been taking care of the working man uh on the radio for decades. Absolutely he came out with something you you read it too? What did why did why doesn't he like Rebecca Hum?

Um I I actually don't know. I think he likes his candidate much better than her, so I think that's where he's going with it. He doesn't really talk about why, although you may have read an article that I'm unfamiliar with. I don't like to read articles about anybody else except Francesca Hong. Okay, you know, I'll read it. Francesca, yeah. Francesca did I call her, did I call her?

You said Jessica or some Rebecca or something. Yeah, but I said something Francesca. Okay. So there are half a dozen Democratic uh nominees for governor that are running. Um and boring. Boring. Yeah, a couple of them have have bailed out. Um but uh the ones that are left, I you know, I don't uh at some point you know they've got to get it down to one uh and or one or two before the uh primary in August, I believe.

Well here's the thing about the other candidates, and I love them, I think they've been fantastic. In fact, I've been on board with them when they ran for the legislature. It's just that they don't really have that fire when they describe their agenda. I I want somebody to just truly believe in doing the right thing and and supporting her own agenda, you know. This is this is crazy, but that's what I like about Francesca. She's just great, or Fran as they call her.

You saw them at uh a recent event. Yes, uh and what did you think? I mean, who she was the one that stood out to you the most.

Yes. Well, I I I only saw her at a fundraiser, and uh, and I just saw the end of her speech because I thought, well, you know, they usually run a little late. They didn't run late, they ran right on time. So I missed all the guests. Uh, Rokana was a guest there and everything. I missed him. I wanted to see what he had to say. Uh, I just caught part of what she was saying, but she is point blank, uh uh right on the money as far as what this country needs, what this state needs. And boy, it would be refreshing to have somebody like that in the uh governor's mansion.

So she'll be up against uh Tom Tiffany, who pretty much has that locked up on the Republican side. I think there is one other candidate, but there he's not gonna get anywhere close to winning that thing, right?

Uh the fire the Farm Bureau has backed uh Tom Tiffany. Now they backed uh um um uh Baldwin, Tammy Baldwin, and uh so it's they they can go either way, they're not necessarily just conservatives, so but they backed Tiffany for some reason. And the reason that the farmers are having a difficult time is because they back Republicans. Republicans have done nothing for them, the only thing they've done is prevent some regulations from going in effect, and uh farmers don't like the regulations, you know. It costs them money when they put these uh environmental regulations on them, so I can see why they don't like them, but it's hurting them constantly. Now, you know, they're getting bailed out by the administration. Again, a capitalist Republican administration bailing them out because of the bad tariff policies.

And you know a lot about Tom Tiffany, you followed him.

Yeah, yeah, I know a lot about him. Yeah, well, he you know, he destroyed the environment in the state, you know, he took away all of the mining laws, so you know, they can put a uh a sand mine right next to an elementary school, you know, which kicks a lot of silica dust into the air, which is not healthy for kids. Republicans, you care about conservation, please, please and and these sand mines go into these small communities, they use the roads to destroy the roads, and they were given a pass on fixing the roads that they destroy with these heavy trucks. And uh, you know, of course, the liability of the silica in the air next to other neighborhoods or schools is a huge health problem that he didn't give a damn about. So, yeah, he he's a dangerous person, absolutely. Yeah, well, we've got uh the thing is he's got he's running uh the Trump agenda, he's running just like Trump, and uh because Trump now has very low ratings, it doesn't seem to be affecting Tom Tiffany whatsoever in this state. So again, I think the Republicans just see the R and they'll vote, they don't have to think about it, and that's the problem.

And he's gonna get a lot of money uh from the Republican side, Tom Tiffany. Well, yeah, big money.

Well, they have it, they have it to spare, they've got a few bucks.

Well, then the Supreme Court decision allowing small donors now to kind of uh you know work with campaigns. I'm just like we knew that Citizens United was really bad. Do these guys read newspapers or articles about Citizens United? No, apparently not, because they went ahead and added more money into the political system where everybody else is saying stop it, cut the cut the money off.

You know, well, have you seen uh John Osof uh uh uh down in Georgia? His big uh campaign push is against Citizens United. That's one of his big, big things in his uh speeches. So yeah, good luck to him.

It's one of the things we definitely have to do if we get in, expand the court, obviously. I mean, everybody's on board with that. Saw Chris Hayes the other night, had two legal experts on who would never want to expand the court, they just wanted to do it the right way. Now they want to expand their court. Everybody's changing their mind on this. We really have to do it. We have to stop the Republicans. Now, I think they're gonna expand the court, but you know, it's gonna take two more years. You're gonna have to have a democratic president, which means in two years, we got two years of the Supreme Court making other decisions. I think by that time, people will be dying to expand the court.

Well, they ought to have term limits for the Supreme Court and uh two. I mean, that's another issue to talk about, but um, yeah, it's gonna take time. Yeah, yeah.

We never had to worry about them getting. I mean, for my growing up years, I don't remember ever thinking that the Supreme Court had bias. I don't remember ever having that problem. I know it always has, but not like now.

Oh, thanks, John. Brought us all down. You know, usually with Gordy, it's kind of an uplifting, dumb show. We just talk about pimples and you know, excuse me. And and you come on, and now we're talking about really sad stuff. And I want to say this, can I just say this because I've been listening to you guys politics, politics. Yeah, what 250 years, yeah, 200 years ago, 50 years ago, I was 10 years old, and I remember celebrating the country, and my parents, Republicans, if in name only, and their friends, you know, the old school, we build stuff. We we we're not gonna hand out whatever old school Republican 50 years ago. Uh and and some of the friends Democrats, though, the musicians among them Democratic. But there was a pride that was deserved 50 years. Ago and now my friends who have left the country. I've got a friend who's been in France for 35 years, a friend now in Portugal for three or four years. They're looking back over the ocean and going, it's not the place that we used to be so prideful over. But but this is this is how life goes. I'm now that I'm 60, I'm learning. You know, my 20s were pretty fun. My 40s, not so much. And you know, whatever. And we're gonna emerge from this. We are. It's going to go back to it has to. This is not an experiment that's going to fail. It's an experiment that we're still trying to figure out. That's all.

If you check out Hunter Biden's uh Facebook or Instagram, because he's trolling him, he's trolling him. He's he's trolling him. That's his call, right?

Because you know there was so much talk about the Bidens, you know, being corrupt and bring and getting money from and warmongers, evidently.

Yeah, I don't know, it's dangerous to even uh approach a subject like that. I'm questioning the uh judgment of Hunter Biden on this one. Well, I don't want I don't want to encourage this guy, you know.

Go into another country, you know, invade it, and of course, say that he's bringing peace to that country, and who knows, maybe peace rise forward.

On a sailboat, yes. But I do have I have the I have the bow to myself, the V birth, if those who sail know what that means. And there's a little sink for me and my own potty between my V births. It's the funniest configuration I've ever seen. I'm just I'm packing nothing but you know black t-shirts and shorts and layers because it's gonna be cool because it's Seattle and it's way up there. And we'll go to Canada. I have to bring my passport. We're gonna go to Canada.
