00:04:49.759 --> 00:04:56.079 It was not in the promised land, it was the mountains of Nebo, the land of Moab, before you go in. 00:04:56.319 --> 00:04:58.720 I want to say, real quickly here, listen to me. 00:04:58.959 --> 00:05:05.439 Moses never went into the land, but I want to tell you what, he went into the Lord. 00:05:05.680 --> 00:05:11.040 Sometimes we get so focused on the land that we're going to, we need to get focused on the Lord. 00:05:11.199 --> 00:05:13.199 And that's what the tabernacle is all about. 00:05:13.439 --> 00:05:17.519 Moses was in love with the Lord and not necessarily in love with the land. 00:05:17.680 --> 00:05:23.439 Sometimes we get our focus and our sights set on heaven, and all we think about is, man, one day we're going to get to heaven. 00:05:23.600 --> 00:05:26.000 One day we're going to step on the streets of gold. 00:05:26.160 --> 00:05:29.279 We need to be in love with the Lord and not just in love with the land. 00:05:29.439 --> 00:05:30.959 Would someone say amen today? 00:05:31.759 --> 00:05:34.079 Moses was in love with the Lord. 00:05:34.240 --> 00:05:37.600 And he had a passion within him to seek God. 00:05:37.920 --> 00:05:45.120 No one has asked God for the greater request than Moses did when he asked God, I want to see your glory. 00:05:45.519 --> 00:05:48.879 I will not be satisfied until I see you face to face. 00:05:48.959 --> 00:05:50.800 And let me, well, let me go on. 00:05:52.319 --> 00:05:56.560 And the Lord showed him all the land of Gilead as far as Dan. 00:05:56.800 --> 00:05:58.480 Now skip down to verse 4. 00:05:58.639 --> 00:06:08.160 Then the Lord said to him, This is the land of which I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, I will give it to your descendants. 00:06:08.399 --> 00:06:13.600 I have caused you to see it with your eyes, he's saying to Moses, but you shall not cross over there. 00:06:13.759 --> 00:06:15.920 There was a reason for that, and I'll get to it in a moment. 00:06:16.160 --> 00:06:21.519 So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord. 00:06:21.759 --> 00:06:23.199 And he, who's he? 00:06:23.439 --> 00:06:31.680 God buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor, but no one knows his grave to this day. 00:06:31.920 --> 00:06:38.319 I want to tell you what, I don't know if that excites you, but if I was going to be buried, I would want God to officiate my funeral. 00:06:38.480 --> 00:06:39.040 Amen. 00:06:39.279 --> 00:06:42.079 And God said, I love this man so much. 00:06:42.480 --> 00:06:49.040 Even though he's not going to go into the land because of his rebellion, because, you know, Moses wasn't a perfect person. 00:06:49.680 --> 00:06:51.759 He was a human being just like you and I. 00:06:51.839 --> 00:06:53.120 He struggled with his temper. 00:06:53.199 --> 00:06:54.639 He struggled with rebellion. 00:06:54.800 --> 00:06:58.000 And he fought against God's calling, just like you and I. 00:06:58.160 --> 00:07:00.319 You don't have to be perfect for God to love you. 00:07:00.480 --> 00:07:05.839 You just have to want God and search after him and seek his face and be in pursuit of him. 00:07:06.160 --> 00:07:09.839 So God takes imperfect beings and he loved Moses so much. 00:07:10.079 --> 00:07:16.399 When Moses he died at the age of 120, and God says, Moses, I'm going to do your burial. 00:07:16.639 --> 00:07:18.560 Matter of fact, God dug the grave himself. 00:07:18.879 --> 00:07:19.439 Amen. 00:07:19.680 --> 00:07:28.639 He went down to a valley, dug Moses' grave, put Moses in a place, and the Bible says that no man knows where Moses is to this day. 00:07:28.959 --> 00:07:37.040 God was saying to him, I'm going to tuck you away, Moses, because I'm coming back for you, and I want to know where you are. 00:07:37.279 --> 00:07:43.439 I'll tell you what, the Bible says one day you and I, those graves are going to open and God knows where you're at, folks. 00:07:43.680 --> 00:07:46.959 He's coming back to take this glorified body home to be with him. 00:07:47.120 --> 00:07:49.920 And God was saying to Moses, I love you so much. 00:07:50.160 --> 00:07:58.560 I know you can't go into the land, but you've loved the Lord and you've sought after me, and I'm going to put you down here in the valley, and I'm going to where no man knows. 00:07:58.639 --> 00:07:59.759 But keep this in mind now. 00:07:59.839 --> 00:08:00.879 I'm coming back to it. 00:08:01.040 --> 00:08:03.439 God says, I've got another purpose for you. 00:08:03.600 --> 00:08:06.000 Stay right here, put you in the valley. 00:08:06.160 --> 00:08:07.360 No one knows where you're at. 00:08:07.519 --> 00:08:10.560 Kind of a hidden secret, but I'm coming back, Moses. 00:08:10.959 --> 00:08:12.319 I'm coming back. 00:08:12.560 --> 00:08:13.759 Verse 7. 00:08:14.079 --> 00:08:16.959 Moses was 120 years old when he died. 00:08:17.199 --> 00:08:21.600 His eyes were not dim, nor his natural vigor diminished. 00:08:22.000 --> 00:08:25.040 Even in 120, he was a strong man. 00:08:25.199 --> 00:08:25.680 Why? 00:08:26.000 --> 00:08:30.000 Because those that seek the Lord, God empowers them and God will strengthen them. 00:08:30.079 --> 00:08:34.000 You'll mount up with wings of eagles and run and not grow weary and walk and not faint. 00:08:34.159 --> 00:08:35.200 God will take care of you. 00:08:35.360 --> 00:08:36.960 He died a premature death. 00:08:37.200 --> 00:08:42.320 The children of Israel wept for Moses and in the plains of Moab thirty days. 00:08:42.399 --> 00:08:45.039 So the days of weeping and mourning for Moses ended. 00:08:45.120 --> 00:08:47.919 So Joshua, the son of Nun, was full of wisdom. 00:08:48.080 --> 00:08:51.519 Here's the one that here was his uh uh predecessor here. 00:08:51.600 --> 00:09:08.480 He said, Mo uh uh Moses, uh the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, and Moses had laid his hands upon him, so the children of Israel heeded him, as uh and as did the Lord uh also he he commanded Joshua as he did uh Moses. 00:09:09.039 --> 00:09:10.559 But listen to verse 10. 00:09:11.519 --> 00:09:25.840 This is this is God's epitap of Moses, and since then there has not risen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face. 00:09:26.399 --> 00:09:27.919 I want to tell you what. 00:09:29.440 --> 00:09:34.799 When God says there isn't any like this guy, wouldn't it, what's God have to say about you this morning? 00:09:35.200 --> 00:09:38.799 What is God's epithet to you when you finished your life? 00:09:38.960 --> 00:09:45.600 Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to think that God would say of us, there's been no one man that's been like this guy. 00:09:45.759 --> 00:09:52.799 I mean, he served me and walked with me and sought me and loved me and followed after me in hot pursuit of me, and there's no one like him. 00:09:52.960 --> 00:10:03.840 And he was just saying that Joshua was taking the place of Moses, but God was saying, even Joshua can't compare to this man, because one reason he sought after God. 00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:17.120 And all the signs and wonders which the Lord sent to him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh and before the servants and all of his land, and by all that mighty power and all the great terror that Moses performed in the side. 00:10:17.519 --> 00:10:19.919 No one has ever done anything like Moses. 00:10:20.480 --> 00:10:24.559 The greatest thing that Moses did was he sought the Lord. 00:10:24.799 --> 00:10:29.840 This whole week is our thoughts concerning pursuing God. 00:10:31.519 --> 00:10:32.240 Do you want him? 00:10:32.480 --> 00:10:33.600 Do you hunger for him? 00:10:34.320 --> 00:10:37.279 See, why why is the message of encountering God so important? 00:10:37.440 --> 00:10:44.000 Because I believe America and the churches and Christians in general are losing the presence of God. 00:10:44.399 --> 00:10:55.039 I believe today in America, because we've shut God out of our government and out of our schools and out of our home, and many times out of our churches and out of our personal lives, that God says there anyone that hungers after me. 00:10:55.279 --> 00:10:59.120 America's closing the doors of openness to God. 00:10:59.440 --> 00:11:00.879 And we don't seek God anymore. 00:11:01.120 --> 00:11:02.960 Spiritual darkness is coming in. 00:11:03.120 --> 00:11:08.000 Where are Christians today who lay down their stake and say, I want God more than anything else? 00:11:08.080 --> 00:11:11.759 Is there anyone hungry for God in their homes, in their schools, in their government? 00:11:12.000 --> 00:11:13.440 Are we going to still open the doors? 00:11:13.600 --> 00:11:15.759 Nothing is wrong with life's pursuits. 00:11:15.840 --> 00:11:19.120 And we all pursue things, but nothing wrong with going after things. 00:11:19.200 --> 00:11:22.960 But our number one pursuit in life needs to be a relationship with God. 00:11:23.120 --> 00:11:27.519 That He would become the most important thing for us, that we'd follow after Him and love Him. 00:11:27.759 --> 00:11:30.639 And uh folks, we're losing the presence of God. 00:11:30.720 --> 00:11:33.360 We're losing the power of God, we're losing the purpose of God. 00:11:33.519 --> 00:11:40.639 And I want to tell you, if we're not pursuing God, if we're not seeking and encountering God, uh we're getting invasion of the devil. 00:11:41.279 --> 00:11:44.240 We're either going after God or the devil's coming after us. 00:11:44.559 --> 00:11:54.320 And we need to focus on him and say, dear God, we want once again in America to see the doors open that we can see the power of God, the presence of God, and the purpose of God in our lives. 00:11:54.399 --> 00:11:58.399 And that's exactly what Moses did in his face-to-face encounter with God. 00:11:58.559 --> 00:12:00.799 I call them the three levels of intimacy. 00:12:01.279 --> 00:12:04.799 The first uh encounter that he had with God was at the burning bush. 00:12:04.879 --> 00:12:05.600 You remember that? 00:12:05.759 --> 00:12:10.320 I mean, he walked up to this place and saw a bush on fire over here, and he was drawn to it. 00:12:10.399 --> 00:12:14.159 And when he gets there, he finds out that God is speaking to him through this burning bush. 00:12:14.320 --> 00:12:23.120 He kicks off his shoes and God calls him to do the impossible, to go down back down to Egypt and deliver millions of Jews out of there and take them to the promised land. 00:12:23.200 --> 00:12:25.279 And Moses started questioning the Lord. 00:12:25.440 --> 00:12:27.759 He didn't understand the purpose that God had for him. 00:12:27.919 --> 00:12:33.679 God was saying, number number one, in the burning bush, he had an encounter to discover the purpose that God had for him. 00:12:33.759 --> 00:12:48.000 And each one of you today, if you've not had that personal encounter with God to understand why you're here, who you are, your identity in Christ, your ministry that God has called you to, get to the burning bush and say, God, I need to understand your purpose before I can go any further. 00:12:48.240 --> 00:12:53.519 Then he had another step of intimacy when he went up, when he was called up on the mountain, up on Mount Sinai. 00:12:53.679 --> 00:12:55.759 He discovered the power of God up there. 00:12:55.919 --> 00:13:00.960 I mean, the lightning and the thunder and the noise and a great voice came ringing out from the mountain. 00:13:01.120 --> 00:13:09.200 And Moses discovered the power of this awesome God that set forth a rule, set forth his law, and said, Thus saith the Lord. 00:13:09.440 --> 00:13:10.720 He discovered the power of God. 00:13:10.879 --> 00:13:18.159 If you've not discovered God's power, get with God on a mountain someplace until God demonstrates his power to you and he will. 00:13:18.320 --> 00:13:23.919 But the third encounter of intimacy is when he was hidden in a cleft of a rock, and we're going to get to that in just a moment. 00:13:24.159 --> 00:13:32.799 In Exodus chapter 34, Moses wanted to get to know God so much that God says, You can't see me face to face. 00:13:33.120 --> 00:13:35.120 You can't look upon me and live. 00:13:35.360 --> 00:13:39.440 And there were times on that mountain where Moses got so close to God. 00:13:39.519 --> 00:13:45.360 Remember, he came down off of there, and the Bible says when he came to the children of Israel, his face was glow-I mean, he had sunburned. 00:13:45.440 --> 00:13:46.399 I'm telling you what. 00:13:46.639 --> 00:13:50.559 I I call it a high dose of divine radiation. 00:13:50.720 --> 00:13:51.039 Ha ha. 00:13:51.600 --> 00:13:58.320 I mean, he came in the presence of God, but when he walked off that mountain, his face was just shining and the people ran from him. 00:13:58.559 --> 00:14:01.679 In order to be close to the people, he had to put a veil on his face. 00:14:01.840 --> 00:14:07.360 Wouldn't you like to discover the power of God in your life to the point where everybody would see Jesus in you? 00:14:07.519 --> 00:14:10.879 Your face would be a glow and your life would be a testimony. 00:14:11.120 --> 00:14:12.639 Hey, I've been with God. 00:14:12.879 --> 00:14:21.440 And even in New Testament, when Jesus spent time with people, it wasn't long until people could look at him and say, Man, there's someone he's been with Jesus. 00:14:21.840 --> 00:14:26.080 That's what we need to discover, the power of God of just spending time with him. 00:14:26.399 --> 00:14:28.399 What makes it different in this church? 00:14:28.559 --> 00:14:34.559 When we come in on a morning like this, and I'm telling you, I felt the electricity of God's power and anointing on his place. 00:14:34.720 --> 00:14:35.120 Why? 00:14:35.360 --> 00:14:38.080 Because God's people spent time with God this week. 00:14:38.399 --> 00:14:50.799 I mean, we were here Sunday and Sunday night and Monday and Tuesday and went, at least I was, I don't know how many of you were here, but I was here and Pastor Lovett was here, and we gathered with the folks on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and then Friday. 00:14:50.879 --> 00:14:53.919 With Thursday, we came back up and set the tabernacle up. 00:14:54.000 --> 00:14:56.080 And then Friday came in and people were praying. 00:14:56.240 --> 00:14:57.519 That's what makes the difference. 00:14:57.759 --> 00:15:01.759 We've been in touch with God, we've felt his power, we've understood his purpose. 00:15:01.840 --> 00:15:10.559 And thirdly, when Moses wanted to be with Jesus so or be with the Father so much, God says, Listen to me, Moses, you gotta stop this. 00:15:12.080 --> 00:15:14.320 You can't see me face to face. 00:15:15.519 --> 00:15:19.039 And Moses said, But I don't understand why not. 00:15:19.440 --> 00:15:20.480 I love you so much. 00:15:20.559 --> 00:15:23.279 And God says, if you see me, look at me, you'll die. 00:15:23.440 --> 00:15:25.519 And Moses said, Then kill me. 00:15:25.759 --> 00:15:27.039 I'm willing to die. 00:15:27.200 --> 00:15:28.399 I'm willing to do anything. 00:15:28.559 --> 00:15:30.080 Do we want God that much? 00:15:39.759 --> 00:15:42.639 He saw God bring the plagues down upon the Egyptians. 00:15:42.799 --> 00:15:44.720 He saw waters turn to blood. 00:15:44.879 --> 00:15:53.440 He he saw the plague of frogs and the plague of f lice and the plague of flies and he saw God deliver millions of people out of Egypt. 00:15:53.600 --> 00:15:54.799 What else do you want?
