00:04:53.439 --> 00:04:55.519 Is it some mystic experience? 00:04:55.759 --> 00:04:56.720 Absolutely not. 00:04:56.879 --> 00:04:59.439 Is it some unknown experience? 00:04:59.680 --> 00:05:01.040 Absolutely not. 00:05:01.519 --> 00:05:06.160 It is a feeling that has a practical application. 00:05:06.319 --> 00:05:15.759 It is evident by the actions that you and I do that we are either filled with the Holy Spirit or we are walking in the flesh. 00:05:16.000 --> 00:05:21.839 It's not hard to determine whether your pastor is in the spirit or in the flesh. 00:05:22.000 --> 00:05:23.199 I've got news for you. 00:05:23.360 --> 00:05:37.759 It's not hard for me to determine and understand whether or not you're in the spirit or in the flesh, because it is very evident that the command to be filled brings evidences of being filled. 00:05:37.839 --> 00:05:39.279 And that's what we're gonna be looking at. 00:05:39.439 --> 00:05:40.000 The evidence. 00:05:40.160 --> 00:05:53.120 We're gonna look at four things: the command to be filled, the conditions for being filled, the consequences of being filled, and then the uh context of what the Bible means when you are filled. 00:05:53.279 --> 00:05:54.000 It's gonna be good. 00:05:54.160 --> 00:05:57.279 So let's begin by looking at number one. 00:05:57.759 --> 00:05:59.199 What does it really mean? 00:05:59.360 --> 00:06:00.480 The command. 00:06:00.720 --> 00:06:04.480 The command to be filled with the Spirit of God. 00:06:04.639 --> 00:06:24.639 Now, I didn't write that, I didn't give you these four things because it really gets into my Greek 101 and 102 classes, and uh that and I had 15 hours of Greek in in undergrad and seminary, but this is the only place where it's important for you to understand these four words I'm gonna give to you that we study in the Greek language. 00:06:24.800 --> 00:06:27.519 And somebody says, Well, do I have to know Greek to understand the Bible? 00:06:40.720 --> 00:06:42.160 It's very simple to learn. 00:06:42.319 --> 00:06:48.079 Well, it's hard to learn the Greek, but it's very simple to understand two actions that mainly all the Greek language does. 00:06:48.240 --> 00:06:53.040 You have an aorist tense, which means a completed action, once and for all, done. 00:06:53.279 --> 00:06:54.959 Doesn't happen again. 00:06:55.279 --> 00:06:58.079 That's what we said about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 00:06:58.240 --> 00:07:00.480 It's a error, it's in the aoris tense. 00:07:00.560 --> 00:07:03.519 It's a once and for all completed action. 00:07:03.839 --> 00:07:09.839 And then in the Greek, there's the present tense, which means it is a continuous action. 00:07:10.000 --> 00:07:12.480 In other words, it's over and over again. 00:07:12.720 --> 00:07:29.360 In fact, the scripture would read, and it should read, if you were reading it in the Greek language, it would be saying, instead of being, and I love this, but be filled, but it would, here's the way it reads, but be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:07:29.600 --> 00:07:30.240 You're with me. 00:07:30.319 --> 00:07:31.680 It's very important you understand that. 00:07:31.920 --> 00:07:32.639 You with me? 00:07:49.120 --> 00:07:50.560 We don't have an option. 00:07:50.720 --> 00:07:57.920 It is a command of God that you and I continually be filled with the Spirit of God. 00:07:59.120 --> 00:08:02.000 The Greek text says, being continually filled. 00:08:02.160 --> 00:08:04.000 It is not something you should think about. 00:08:04.160 --> 00:08:10.879 It's not something that you grow into, and uh, it's not something that you just think about doing. 00:08:11.120 --> 00:08:16.240 We are to actively, continually be filled with the Spirit of God. 00:08:16.319 --> 00:08:18.240 And we're going to look at how we do that. 00:08:18.319 --> 00:08:19.920 It's very, really simple. 00:08:20.079 --> 00:08:24.319 So it's the imperative mood, and then watch this, it's in the plural form. 00:08:24.720 --> 00:08:28.879 Now, secondly, this command is in the plural form, not in the singular. 00:08:29.040 --> 00:08:33.039 It is a command that is given to all of us, not some of us. 00:08:33.279 --> 00:08:33.600 Okay?
