Hello friends, I'm Shepherd Sam, and welcome to my farm. Baxter and I love having visitors come spend time with us. Every day is a new adventure, and we're so glad you're here. Come on, Baxter, let's go see what our farm friends are up to today.

Speaker

Well before we go any further, there's someone who's been waiting patiently to meet you. It's Baxter. There he is. Baxter is my best friend. He goes almost everywhere I go. Baxter is a border collie. They make wonderful sheepdogs. Sometimes I think he even knows what I'm thinking before I do. Right now he's wagging his tail because he thinks we're about to go visit all the animals. And he's right.

Speaker

But before we head to the pasture, there's something I do every single morning. Every morning I sit right here in my old rocking chair with a warm cup of coffee. This old rocking chair is one of my favorite places on the whole farm. Now, I know coffee is a grown up drink. Maybe you like milk or hot chocolate instead. While I drink my coffee, I open my Bible. I spend a few quiet minutes talking with God and reading my Bible before the busy day begins. You know why? Because God's word helps us know how to love him and love other people.

Speaker

Baxter usually lies right here beside me. But sometimes he watches the birds or the butterflies. And sometimes I think he's hoping I drop a biscuit. Sorry, Baxter, no biscuits today.

Speaker

Well, okay. I think we're ready to go visit the animals. What do you say, buddy? I think that's a yes. Let's go meet everybody. Listen, can you hear the chickens? They're always the first ones awake. Over by the pond the ducks are already splashing around. The horses are waiting by the fence because they know breakfast is coming. The goats are already looking for something to climb on. Goats are funny that way. And way out there, can you see them? Those fluffy white dots? Those are my sheep. Some are big, some are little, and some are tiny lambs who love to run and play.

Speaker

I take care of every one of them. I make sure they have fresh water. I check to see if anyone needs help. I lead them to green grass. And Baxter helps keep everyone together. He's gentle with the lambs because he knows they're still growing.

Speaker

You know, taking care of sheep reminds me of someone very special. Jesus himself is called the Good Shepherd. That means he loves us, watches over us, and wants to lead us in the right direction. I like thinking about that every day.

Speaker

Y ou're going to meet a whole lot of wonderful friends here on the farm. You're going to meet my llama. Yes, I have a llama, and his name is Larry. He's big and brave, and he's one of the gentlest animals you'll ever meet, and he loves children.

Speaker

And then there's my horse. Her name is Millie, and she has a very young colt. His name is Major, and Major is so happy to run and play in the meadow. And you'll meet the goats and the lambs, my ducks and the chickens. Maybe even a grumpy rooster once in a while.

Speaker

Every visit to the farm has a new adventure. Sometimes we'll laugh together and sometimes we'll learn something new about the animals. And every time we're together, we'll discover something wonderful about God. Well before you go today,

Speaker

I'd like to leave you with one little thought. Whenever you see a shepherd taking care of sheep, remember Jesus takes care of us even better. He knows your name. He loves you very much, and he'll always be there for you.

Speaker

Well Baxter says it's almost feeding time, so we better head back to the farmhouse for breakfast. Thanks for coming to visit us today. Remember, Jesus loves you and so do we. Keep smiling. Be kind to someone, and remember, there's always room for one more friend here on Shepherd Sam's farm.

Speaker

Bye everybody.
