Perhaps you believe that what you have done is too terrible to be forgiven. Perhaps others have reminded you of your past until you no longer feel worthy to pray, worthy to come before Almighty God, or worthy to receive his love. But the good book tells us that all of us have fallen short of the glory of God. Every one of us has said words we wish we could take back, made choices, we wish we could change, or done things for which we are ashamed. Some people may point a finger at you, seeking to condemn, criticize, or judge you. But that finger points right back toward them. For none of us, no, not one, has walked this earth without falling short of the glory of God. Even when the man called Jesus good, he replied, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one that is God. He made many poor choices. He lost everything. At last he found himself alone. Ashamed, ashamed, afraid, afraid. Finally, finally, he decided to return home. Like so many of you, he believed himself unworthy to be called his father's son. His father's daughter. Yet while he was still a great way off, his father saw him. He dropped everything and he ran. He embraced him with great love and compassion. The father did not turn away. No. He called for shoes for his feet, a robe for his body, in a great celebration to welcome him home. His joy was beyond measure. My beloved brother. And just like the father of the prodigal son, he will say, Welcome home, my child. My child. As his beloved son, his beloved daughter. And all the angels in heaven will rejoice. Because the one who was lost has now been found. My beloved. When God forgives you, I beloved, sister. You must also forgive yourself. Release the guilt you have carried for so long. Lay it down at the feet of the great I Am. Allow the love of our beloved Jesus Christ to wash over you. You are forgiven. Your slate has been wiped clean. You need not keep looking back. You have been made a new creature in Christ Jesus. All the ways of man are not the ways of God. For his love endureth forever. You are still his child. You are worthy to pray. You are worthy to come before him. You are worthy to receive his mercy. Oh my beloved. Oh my beloved. Will you pray with me? Will you pray with me? Heavenly Father. Thank you for loving me. Even when I wandered far from you. Thank you for wanting to meet me. With your mercy, your grace, and your unfailing love. Today I lay every burden of guilt, shame, and regret at your feet. Wash me clean, restore my heart. Help me to forgive myself as you have forgiven me. Guide my footsteps as I walk each day in the light of your love. Through the power of the great I am, and in the name and nature of our beloved Jesus the Christ, I pray. As I walk each day in the light of your love, through the power of the great I am, and in the name and nature of our beloved Jesus, the Christ I pray.
