This is Unnerving…
We all have a story about something that’s unnerving, and I’m here to share those stories. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.
**
I was on my way back from a performance late one night. I’m a stage actor, so late nights aren’t unusual. This story doesn’t take place on a dark back road or a scary, lonely highway. This highway was well-lit and quite busy, even for that time of the night. My GPS was switched off and unplugged, chilling in the doorwell next to me. I knew this road well, so I didn’t need it. I was in the right-hand lane going about 120 kilometers per hour, which is the posted speed limit. Suddenly the GPS chimed up from beside me, loudly saying, “Turn left now”.
I was so confused, but when the thing said it a second time, I changed lanes. Suddenly a car materialised out of nowhere from behind me. It didn’t have its headlights on and zoomed past me at about… I’d say, 240 kilometers an hour. My car actually shook a little as it passed me. I was so rattled that I pulled into the nearest petrol station. Once my nerves had calmed a bit, I checked the GPS. Still unplugged, still switched off.
Here’s the thing. My GPS is kind of old, so it doesn’t switch on unless it’s plugged in. So, how did it work? Did my guardian angel use it as a tool to warn me? Either way, I’m grateful to be alive.
