This is Unnerving…
We all have a story about something that’s unnerving, and I’m here to share those stories. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

They say all dolls are haunted, but I don’t believe that. I’ve owned a lot of dolls in my life, but only one of them ever scared me.
My grandpa gave me this doll for my birthday. I think I was about five at the time. From the moment it came out of the box, something about it felt wrong. It was one of those toddler-sized dolls, and the thing was nearly the same length as I was. She was made entirely of plastic, didn’t contain any mechanical moving parts or batteries, but that didn’t stop her from following me around the house.
Whenever I was in the same room as her, I could feel her looking at me. But when I looked at her, she was almost intentionally turned away from me. At night I would put her in her own little bed and tuck her in, but in the morning the blanket would be lying to one side and she would be sitting upright. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, or that my mom or dad was pranking me. But that also didn’t make sense to me, as they weren’t the kind of parents to play pranks.
One night I woke up from tiny footsteps running around my room. I switched on my bedside lamp, and saw the doll standing by my door. I got up, put her back in her bed, tucked her in, and got back into my bed. I switched off my light, then instantly heard the little footsteps running around again. I switched on my lamp again, but this time the doll was standing at the foot of my bed. At this point I got really scared. I jumped out of bed, grabbed her, stuffed her into my toy chest, and ran out of my room.
As I ran down the corridor, I heard those horrible little footsteps behind me. I stormed into my parents’ bedroom, jumped onto the bed, and dove under the covers. My dad flew out of the bed like he was on fire, seized the doll by the hair, and barrelled downstairs. We heard a thump and saw a flash of orange light. My mom and I peeked through the bedroom window and saw my dad standing next to the fire pit, watching the doll burn to ash. I heard high-pitched screaming coming from the doll, although I’m sure I’m the only one who heard that. The smell of burning plastic still makes my stomach turn to this day.
