I came back from Costa Rica a different person and this episode is why. In the Season 1 finale of What If It All Works Out?, we're talking about what happens when you stop letting fear make your decisions. From ziplining off a mountain to jumping into a river from a rope swing, every scary moment on this solo trip came down to one thing: acting before the fear could organize itself. ✨

In this episode we break down the war between your conscious and subconscious mind, why you're not broken or inconsistent, you're just human, and the 3 tools that actually help you align the two so you can stop playing small and start living like you mean it. 📝

Plus a journal prompt that might just change the way you see yourself. This is the finale. Season 2 is coming. Don't miss it!

Season 2 resumes July 8th! ❤️

So I just got back from Costa Rica. And honestly, y'all, I am still feeling it. I don't even know how to like fully express or put in words yet, but I'm gonna try because that's what this platform is about. We're about trying, we're about doing the things. For lack of better words, I came back feeling fulfilled, refreshed, inspired. I feel like my nervous system has finally got a reset. I look myself in the mirror and was genuinely proud of who I saw, right? And it just wasn't really about the trip. It was about what the trip meant for me. Because if you told me even a year ago that I will be booking a solo international trip in a whole nother country, showing up alone, ziplining off of a mountain, jumping into a river from a rope swing, walking through a town by myself day and night, just being. You know? But I did it. And I did all of it, and I came back a renewed version of myself, a different version of me. So welcome, welcome y'all. Hola, como está to episode DS of episode 10, season one finale of What If It All Works Out, Conversations for the Overthinker, Turn Overcomer. If you are new here, welcome. Uh Bien Ovidos, I think is what that means in Spanish. Ciao. I come back from a Spanish-speaking country and think I'm just so like fluent in Espanol. But moving on. Before I get into anything, I want to just take a second to honor what this season actually was. Season one was about identifying the parts of my life that required the growth, the healing, the transformation, real evolution. Not anything surface level, new year, new me stuff, right? I mean actually like sitting in the uncomfortable, naming what needed to change and allowing myself to move differently this time. There is something so refreshing, so freeing about just exposing the dark parts and cleaning house. And that's what we did all season long. So coming into this finale, this trip, this moment is not random. It's the fruit of everything that you and I have been working through together. So let me take you to this trip with me. So again, I went to Costa Rica alone. And from the moment I decided to go, my mind had something to say about it, right? But I kept moving anyway. One of my biggest moments was zip lining and doing a rope swing into the river. When it comes to zip lining, I do not like heights. I want y'all to understand that. Like I it has been a minute since I've done anything related to like heights, like roller coasters or being in the air for for like even planes, like I don't I don't enjoy it. I'm just not a heights person. Even though I'm tall, even though I'm a stally, I am not a heights girl. So doing the zip lining thing, before I jumped off of the little ramp, my mind was telling me to back out. My subconscious was running through every possible reason why this was a bad idea. But what I learned about fear is that if you give it too much time to process, it wins. So before I could fully let anxiety set in, I just went for it. And that was everything for me. That was so freeing, just literally flying across the forest was just beautiful. It was exhilarating. And even when I was like rope swinging into the river, this was the first time I swam in years, y'all. Like I learned to swim as a child. And y'all know how black girls are. We don't like getting our hair wet. You know, we just play it safe. Like we don't do all that. But this is my first time swimming in a long time. And this is another moment where I hesitated. I asked a man that was helping me because this is again, there's no life fight on duty either. It's just like a free river. You just walk, you just go to somebody, put a swing, put a rope there, and you just have fun. Right. So before I jumped, I'm asking the man all the questions like, How deep is it? You know, is it rocky? Like, what's going on in this water before I even jump? And he's like, You're you're okay, you're good, you're good. But before I jumped, fear was trying to catch me, but I just decided to do it anyway. And the joy I felt on the other side of that is something inexplainable. Another thing that might sound small, but was big for me is again, I let my hair get wet in the river. I did not care. I went swimming even like the next day. Like I got in a pool at my air at my hotel, and I just went all in. Like, no care in the world with how it was going to come out. I don't care. I want to get in this water and I want to be free myself. It just felt like a release. On this trip, I did exactly what I wanted to from the outfits I wanted to wear, the excursions I wanted to participate in, the food I wanted to eat, the hotels I wanted to stay at, the rooms in the hotel that I wanted. I did not short myself at all on a single thing. That act of giving myself everything I desired, that was its own kind of healing. The theme I kept coming back to was just do it, you know, act before fear can organize itself. And that's what unlocked everything. So going through, you know, this trip and just reflecting on this episode, I'm thinking to myself, why is it so hard to just do the thing? Why do we set goals? Me, me, Daviana, why do I set goals, start strong, and then I fall off when it gets uncomfortable or slow? Right. And I want to talk about something that helped me understand myself on a deeper level. And it's the relationship between the conscious and the subconscious mind. I'm reading a book currently called You Are a Badass. And then I'm also, I also did just some, you know, some more extended research. And this is what I learned about our minds. So your conscious mind is the goal setter. It's logical, it's analytical, it can look at your life and say, I want more, I deserve better, I'm going to do this. And then your subconscious, that's the driver, right? That's the part that actually puts action behind the goals. And it doesn't run on logic. It runs on emotion, it runs on instinct, and it runs on pattern. So if you grew up thinking, for example, money, if you grew up thinking that money is scarce, that you aren't able to make more money or love or romance, like if you've always been in horrible relationships, you probably have this perception that men are bad, that you will never get married. You know, that's what your subconscious um has learned because it's it's a pattern. It's what you've known. It operates from what it knows and what it's always known. And its job is to keep you safe, which often means keeping you exactly where you are. So when I was standing at the top of that zipline platform, my conscious mind was like, yes, do it. I bought the ticket, I paid my money, I showed up. But my subconscious was pulling up every memory of danger, every reason to stay on the ground, every argument for plain and small. Girl, if this thing falls, if this rope breaks, if, you know, like anything could happen, which was trying to keep me from jumping. And the attention is not a character flaw. It's not us being weak or inconsistent, it's human nature basically doing what it does. But the work is about aligning the two, right? You want to get your subconscious to accept that the higher version of you deserves to be put in the forefront. You want to put at the front of your mind that you can do it, that you do deserve it. I was about to get on this zip line, and I was texting one of my friends. I was just talking about the trip or whatever. And I told him, like, make sure you pray for me. Like, pray for my my safe journey, safe travels as I'm out here. And his response was simply, fear not, the Lord is with you. Something in me settled right there. It reminded me of one of my favorite scripture that God always drops my spirit every single time I get scared about something. It was Joshua 1 and 9. And that tells us, Have I not commanded you, be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed, for the Lord is with you wherever you go. Every single time I step outside of my ordinary, the second guessing comes, my subconscious starts pulling up receipts, past moments of danger, past failures, past reasons to stay put. But when my friend sent that text, I was reminded that I was safe. Not because I was guaranteed, you know, anything perfect in my experience, but because I was not walking into any of it alone. That also reminded me of like when I'm first moved to Houston, the Lord was like, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous for the Lord. It's with you wherever you go. I was not gonna come here, but he knows exactly what I need when I need it. And not once on that trip did anxiety or fear overtake me. I felt so at peace that it was like, oh my gosh, I'm not here alone. Actually, I have I have protection. I am covered. I'm where I'm supposed to be. I know in my spirit, I have a high level of discernment. So I know in my spirit when I'm not supposed to be doing something or when I'm not supposed to be somewhere because I would get uneasy, but I didn't feel that. And I know that that is something that I can recognize as growth and alignment. So I want to also just quickly talk about like tools on how to align your subconscious and your conscious mind. How do we get our subconscious on board with the things that we're reaching for? So here's the things that I I learned recently. You need repetition, positive emotion, and visualization. So for repetition, your subconscious feeds off patterns. So affirmations, showing up consistently, building those good habits, and taking those small steps toward the thing that you don't feel like doing. And that's gonna help rewire the default. So it's like mind over matter, basically. And then again with positive emotion, because the subconscious is led by feeling and not by logic, you have to associate the goal with something good, right? So stop framing growth as suffering and instead tie it to joy, to freedom, to the version of yourself that you're becoming. And when it feels like a reward, your subconscious stops fighting it. And the last one is visualization in Hapcook 2, it says write the vision and make it plain, right? So we need to see ourselves in the life that we're building consistently and specifically. So your subconscious needs a blueprint and not just a wish. So those are three simple tools that are simple but not always easy, and they do require the most important ingredient, which is deciding that the high version of you is worth the effort. Going into this audio journal journey, I am really just proud, honestly, for making it this far. And the feedback that I've been given about it has been fulfilling as well. I know that I'm doing something not only for me, but for you guys, and we're just gonna go further. So I didn't want this to be long, but I did want us to be reflective before I close out. I want to, you know, of course, lead us with a journal prompt with the question of do I truly love myself enough to try? And then go deeper and reflect on like what on the three tools that I mentioned a few minutes ago, what are you going to repeat, visualize, and bring positive emotion to so that your subconscious and your conscious can work together and actually bear fruit? Like Habakkuk 2 says, write it down, make it plain, and then do it. Do a scared if you have to. Okay? So yeah, again, I cannot believe that we've made it to 10 whole episodes. I know I missed last week, but I did that intentionally because I knew this, I wanted to reflect on my trip. 10 episodes in season one is a wrap. I did it, we did it, and consistency is something that I'm learning. I'm learning to show up regardless of what it looks like. I think what happens is as long as we're moving our feet, we pick up better habits, better mindsets, and better strategy. So yeah, like I've been the girl who has started something, got motivated, fell off when it got hard or when it wasn't yielding results as quickly as I like. But I showed up for this. And I showed up for you. I showed up for myself. And if you made it this far, I genuinely want to say thank you. I really appreciate you. I hope something in this season has like spoke to you. It it helped you in a way. Um, because that's the whole point. We're not far from the lives that we want and that we deserve. We just need the right information, the right tools, and the right people around us. And maybe a little faith is what it is. Like it's gonna work out. So, season two, we are coming back with everything better. So make sure you follow us on Instagram at W I I A W O with two underscores. So that's weawo two underscores.
