Hello and welcome back to the Lifeline Church Peter Sound Podcast. I'm your host, Mark Williams, and I'm here with my lovely wife, Charity, for the second part of our series. We're calling Back to the Blueprint. This episode is called When Trust is Broken.

SPEAKER_00

Today we're going to talk about something that hits deep, betrayal. And not just talking about it from the outside, but from living through it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, whenever you're you've been betrayed or you've been the one who caused it, it leaves damage.

SPEAKER_00

And the question is, can you actually heal from it? I know what it feels like to have your trust shattered, to build a life with someone, and then watch it just fall apart. And when it happens, it doesn't just break the relationship, it breaks something inside of you. Psalm 55, 12 through 14 says, For it is not an enemy who taunts me, then I could bear it. It is not an adversary who deals in soul with me. Then I could hide from it. But it is you, a man, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend. We used to take sweet counsel together. Within God's house, we walked in the throne.

SPEAKER_01

It makes you question everything your worth, your judgment, and even your identity. I'm not proud of it. Before God really got a hold of my life, I made choices that hurt people, including you.

SPEAKER_00

And that's real. And I think people need to hear that too.

SPEAKER_01

You know, sin just doesn't affect you, it affects everyone around you. And you don't always realize the death until later.

SPEAKER_00

Betrayal doesn't just happen randomly. There's always something underneath it broken identity, unmet needs, lack of truth.

SPEAKER_01

And honestly, like of God, as Jeremiah 17, 9 through 10, the heart is deceitful above all things, and despicably sick. Who can understand it? I, the Lord, search for the heart to test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds. When you're not grounded in Christ, you're just making decisions based on feelings instead of truth.

SPEAKER_00

And healing doesn't happen by pretending it didn't hurt.

SPEAKER_01

And it doesn't happen overnight. And the Bible says in Psalm 147, verse 3, he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Three practical tips we can do is number one, bring God to it for bring it to God first. Not social media, not revenge, not another relationship. Number two, allow time plus truth. Healing is a process. Truth replaces lies. Number three, forgiveness.

SPEAKER_00

Forgiveness doesn't mean what happened was okay. It means I'm not carrying it anymore.

SPEAKER_01

Can trust be rebuilt? Yes, but it takes consistency, repentance, and change.

SPEAKER_00

And sometimes healing doesn't mean restoring everything exactly the same, but it always means restoring you. Romans 8.28 tells us, and we know that for those who love God, all things will work together for good. And for those who are called according to his purpose, God doesn't waste pain. And if you're hurting today, you're not stuck, you're in a process. I recommend you get on your knees and truly cry out to God. You pray and you listen. Listen to God. He loves you.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, he does. You want to pray?

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

God heal what it's been broken, restore trust where it can be restored, and restore hearts where it can bring peace, truth, and freedom in Jesus' name. Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Amen.
