Welcome back everyone to this special episode of our podcast. Today's message is titled Thou Shall Not Murder. It's a deep dive into God's unchanging word on the sanctity of human life. With a focused look on abortion, we will explore why scripture leaves no room for exceptions when it comes down to the intentional ending of innocent life in the womb. There were an estimated 1,126,000 clinician-provided abortions in the United States in 2025. And estimates vary around the home abortions from the abortion pill in the U.S. is an estimated between 500,000 and 700,000 each year. In which both are just astronomical and despicable. In many states today, laws create a strange immunity called shield laws, protecting the mother from prosecution from killing a baby. See, it is illegal for a doctor now or another person to perform an abortion on a mother. Yet the mother herself can obtain or induce one on her behalf on herself with relative legal protection. From a biblical standpoint, this distinction fails. God's law holds us all accountable for shedding innocent blood. No one gets a pass based on relationship or choice. And now uh and now I'm going to say something that's going to be very unpopular with some people. Um if you say you are pro-life and believe and support abortion, you are not a Christian. There is no way you can believe and follow the Bible and think abortion is okay. Full stop. Now, if you are still listening or watching, we will unpack key scriptures, examine child sacrifice in biblical times, draw clear parallels to today, and call the church to action. This is not a political rant, but a faithful exposition of God's truth. Grab your Bible, open your heart, and let's let the Holy Spirit speak. This episode is designed to run about an hour, so settle in. This is Imago Day, gives every human being inherent inherent dignity and value. Genesis 9 6 reinforces this after the flood. Whoever sheds the blood of a man by man shall shed blood be shed. For God made man in his own image. The sixth commandment in Exodus 20, verse 13, is straightforward in the original Hebrew, you you shall not murder. This prohibits premeditated, unlawful killing of innocent people. It's not just a blanket ban on all killing. Examples, just you know, war or capital punishment, have biblical allowances. But it absolutely forbids the taking of innocent life inside the mother's womb. Our culture has created a disgusting non-truth for women which comes from feminism that says, My body, my choice, which is just insane. Because the Bible, your body, belongs to God. Jesus expands this in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, 21 through 22, linking anger and hatred to murder in the heart. Abortion is not a neutral medical procedure. It is deliberate ending of a beating heart. A developing human being, fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Every abortion stops a life that God Himself is knitting together. Let's turn our heart of the matter, let's turn to the heart of the matter. The Bible consistently portrays the unborn as fully human persons under God's care. In Psalms 139, verse 13 through 16, for you were formed my inward parts, you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful work wonderful are your works, my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you. When I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed substance. In your book were written every one of them. The days were that were formed for me when as yet there is none of them. David isn't speaking poetically about generic potent potential life. God is the active creator. In the womb, knitting, weaving, seeing the unformed body, he ordains every day of that child's life before birth. This destroys any notion that the fetus is merely tissue or subhuman. If God knows and forms the child in this intimately ending that life is an assault on his workmanship. In Jeremiah 1, 4 through 5, before Jeremiah was even a thought in his parents, thought to his parents, God says, Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. And before you were born, I consecrated you. I appointed you a prophet to the nations. God for God's foreknowledge and calling begin at conception. What if Jeremiah had been aborted? God's plan would have been thwarted by human hands. An unthinkable rebellion. Some other passages we can look at is Exodus 21 25. In a case of accidental injury to a pregnant woman during a fight, if there is no serious harm, a fine is paid. But if there is serious injury to a mother or child, it is a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot, a burn for a burn, a womb for a womb, a bruise for a bruise. If we abide if we abide the law that would stop abide that by that law, it would stop a lot a lot of not all abortions, that goes along with if an unborn child receives equal protect legal protection, it would be unnecess unit would be essentially stop abortions altogether. It is not a miscarriage only. The language supports intentional harm to the child being treated with full seriousness. In Luke 1, 44 through 44, 41 through 44, John the Baptist still in the womb, leaps for joy at the presence of Jesus, who is also in the womb. Both are recognized as persons filled with the Spirit. In Isaiah 9, 1, Galatians 1 15, and Psalms 127, verse 3, children are the heritage and reward from the Lord. So these texts leave no ambiguo ambiguity. Life begins at conception, and the unborn bear God's image. So the big question is of immunity from modern law. Why should mothers not have uh not have biblical exemption? Now, addressing the core legal and moral puzzle in the curry, why do some laws grant mothers immunity for self-managed abortion while criminalizing others? Biblically, there is no basis for this. A lot of women say they are convinced by feminists that the child in the womb is not the mother's property. So, not so fat uh fat the baby fast, the baby is God's property. And Psalms 24:1 reminds us the earth is the Lord's and everything in it. Children belong to first to God. Ezekiel 16 21 through 20 uh 20 through 21. A mother or father has a sacred duty to protect, not destroy. In Deuteronomy 24, verse 16, teaches personal responsibility, but it does not permit one person to kill another innocent party. In biblical justice, there is there are no privileged killers. If a stranger cannot lawfully end a child's life, neither can the mother. Modern immunity flows from secular notions of bodily autonomy of feminism pushed beyond scripture. The Bible prioritizes the vulnerable in James 127, 1 verse 27, and Proverbs 31 verses 8 through 9. Granting immunity normalizes what God calls evil and removes it, removes accountability. True compassion involves truth telling, support for Christ's pregnancies, adoption, and the gospel, not legal cover for sin. So let's talk about what Jesus didn't uh didn't dying on or didn't die on the cross for everyone. He did die on the cross for everyone and forgave all past sin, future sin and shame. Repentance is available for those who you know want to receive it, and all you have to do is ask for the forgiveness and turn back from the ways and never turn back. King David's sin with Bathsheba led to death of their child in 2 Samuel 12. Yet David found mercy after confession. The cross covers even this, but we must name it sin first. So now let's look at how this ties in to the biblical examples. Child sacrifice in biblical times. Abortion is not new. It echoes the horrible the horror of child sacrifice condemned through script throughout scripture. God repeatedly forbids offering children to Molech and Leviticus 18 21 and in Leviticus 20 2 through 5. The penalty was severe stoning with God turning against the entire community that if they tolerated it. This was done this was often done by fire in the valley of Himon for prosperity, fertility, and appeasing false gods. Examples King of Aza and Manasseh burned their sons in Second Kings sixteen three and twenty-one six and to in Second Chronicles twenty eight three and thirty three six. Jeremiah seven thirty through thirty one and nineteen verse five and thirty two and thirty five, God says He never commanded such abominations. It never even entered his mind. The people filled the land with innocent blood. In Ezekiel sixteen, twenty one through twenty two, you sh you took your sons and your daughters, and and your daughters, who whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. You slaughtered my children and delivered them up as an offering. Other instances was Jephthah's tragic vow in Judges eleven, warning warnings in Deuteronomy twelve verse thirty one and eighteen verse ten. So why did they do it? Um convenience, fear, cultural pressure, false religion? Sound familiar? Today's abortions often stem from similar motives. Timing, finances, career, relationship pressures. Both reject God's sovereignty over life. Both profane the sanctity of the womb. Both invite judgment. God judged Israel for this, exile, destruction, destruction. Nations that shed innocent blood face consequences in Psalms 106, 37 through 38. And in the end everyone will receive judgment again, and repentance is needed to seek forgiveness. Okay, so let's go to the New Testament, the early church witness and some modern application. Jesus welcomed the children. He said, Let the little children come to me in Matthew 19 4 and in Mark 10 14. He warned against um against causing the little ones to stumble in Matthew 18 6. The early early churchly unanimously condemned abortion as murder. Christians stood apart from the Roman practices of infanticide and abortion. Today the church must preach truth compassionately, support pregnancy resource centers, foster care, adoption, and church must get back into what they were doing in the beginning of Christianity and taking care of all people. Offer post abortion healing through the gospel. Advocate for laws that protect all life without partiality. Pray for revival and repentance. And do not support the culture that is killing of the unborn. We must help pass laws that completely criminalize abortion completely and stop this ridiculous immunity for women that commit abortions. And never once in my life have I ever considered abortion as a an option. Is having kids hard? Yes. Is it hard financially? Yes. But they are a blessing from God. And I have five grandchildren and one on the way. And I worry about the culture that they are going to be growing up in. We're doing good is bad, and bad is good. We need to teach our kids to have Christ-centered life and put him above all things, and he will bless you. Also, raising them in a caring church that loves children and that doesn't seem uh see them as a burden or a distraction. As the founder of the church I attend, you know, Dr. Ray Hurt, he always talked about the children running through the aisles, that they were the future of the church and let them run. For me, as a child's innocent laughter are one of the most heartwarming things you will ever experience. We are told in Scripture to become like little children and come to Jesus, and that's exactly what we need to do. So let's wrap this up, friends. Thou shalt not murder. Stands firm. The unborn are our neighbors. They are there is no biblical immunity from mothers or anyone else. Child sacrifice was and is detestable to God. If you've been involved in an abortion, run to the cross. Jesus died for sinners like us. Forgiveness is real. If you are considering one, choose life. If you are a believer, speak up. There are resources to help mu expectant mothers. The church needs to stand up again and be leaders against this injustice. Share this episode, study the scriptures cited, and live boldly for life.
