Welcome back to Anchored in Grace Podcast. And we're happy to have you here. And today we're going to be talking about a very exciting topic that is very near and dear to our heart. And we're just excited to have you here today.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, we are, and today we will be discussing a new topic, and that is the chains stop here. This subject is centered around breaking soul ties, walking in separation, and protecting the covenant of marriage.

SPEAKER_00

Because many times when people hear chains, they think of addiction or fear. But some chains are emotional, some chains are relational, some chains are spiritual attachments to people in the past seasons that God never intended for us to stay connected to. And that's what we're going to be exploring today.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. So, Eric, you want to open us up in prayer?

SPEAKER_00

Thank you, Sharif. I would love to. So, dear Heavenly Father, we come to you today and we stand before you in your mighty name. And Jesus, we thank you for this moment, God, and for every person listening today. Lord, we thank you for your word, because your word is always living and active and able to transform every part of our lives. Father, we ask that through this episode you would express every hidden chain, every emotional attachment, and that you expose it, God. Every wound, every spiritual stronghold that has tied up hearts in our homes, God. And we just thank you, God, for exposing that, God. And Lord, we thank you for your wisdom. We thank you for your wisdom that will that that record that recognizes, God, that, that, that opens up our heart, God. We thank you for transformation, God. We thank you for the courage to confront what must be broken, God, and the strength to walk in freedom, God. You have called us to be healed, God. And God, we just thank you, God, that you will restore our hearts, God. And you will lead and fill our marriages, God, and lead us with grace and everything that we get we do, God. And we trust you, God. We trust you in everything that we do, God. So, Holy Spirit, God, have your way. Let conviction fall uh fall, let healing flow, and let the chains be broken through the power of Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Thank you, God. Hallelujah.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Love that. So today, our found our foundational scripture today is do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship can can light have with darkness, which is 2 Corinthians 6, 14 through 15. And um we'll be talking about the um our talking points today that we're gonna have is one spiritual alignment matters. Marriage is deeper than attraction, it's a spiritual partnership. When two people don't share the same faith foundation, it can create ongoing tension and misalignment. Wouldn't you say Eric?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that that's true. You know, we see it in many marriages that when people are unequally yoked, you know, they're in they're not aligned. Right. You know, yep. And when there is misalignment, it's it's hard to function together.

SPEAKER_01

Right. You know, yeah, no, definitely. And number two, shared values create unity. Being equally yoked means moving in the same direction spiritually, morally, and purposefully. This unity strengthens communication, decisions, and long-term vision. Number three, light versus darkness principle. So this passage highlights that opposing spiritual paths, light versus darkness, naturally conflict in marriage. This can show up in priorities, lifestyle choices, and how challenges are handled. Number four, influence gods both ways. Or influence goes both ways, excuse me. Is relationships shape us. If one partner is not aligned spiritually, it can either pull someone away from their faith or create const um constant internal struggle.

SPEAKER_00

And I've seen that a lot in people, you know, when one is like struggling, like, why are we doing this? Right. You know, yeah, and why why why is this so important to you, you know? And the other one is other other um partners, like, you know, I really feel something in this relationship with God, you know, and this is why it's important for both individuals to go into it together, you know, learning and pursuing God together. Amen. Because that creates growth in and relationship together.

SPEAKER_01

And number five, marriage works best with God at the center. When both partners are pursuing God together, it builds a stronger, more stable, and purpose-driven marriage.

SPEAKER_00

Amen. Amen. So in our first teaching section, identifying unhealthy soul ties, um, soul, soul ties. So God created your soul to bond deeply. He created us for covenant, intimacy, trust, and connection. You agree with that, Charles? Definitely, but not every connection is healthy, right? That's right. Not every bond is God ordained, you know, not you're not meant to bond with every person that you meet, right? Right, and sometimes our souls get tied to people through, right? And it can be through um different types of situation that starts when you're young, um, and it can be um who you're choosing to date and how you're choosing to date them.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Um what parts of yourself are you choosing to give away before you have made a commitment for your life, you know? And I think, you know, that is a point that we're gonna go into now, talking about how people see dating, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Right, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, because this has been a discussion that Shars and I have been having around dating and how people use dating apps and stuff like that. And you know, we we've been really concerned about that, right? What wouldn't you say, Shars?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, I would say, you know, I mean, I've never used a dating app or anything like that, but um, because I've been married for 28 years, but you know, it's the people around you, the people you talk to on a daily basis, you know, that are in a single life. And dating apps are there's a lot of misconceptions about it, you know, or what you might think it might be, right? Yeah, you're going in with the great intention of, hey, I'm gonna find my soulmate, or I'm gonna find my my husband, I'm gonna find my wife. Um, but a lot of there's a lot of misconception in that if you're thinking that's what you're going into, and then it's really just a hookup.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right. So that's the misconception of the person on the the side setting up their profile, putting their nice photo up there, putting your best foot forward, right? Of all your attributes of what you can bring to the next person that you're searching for. But on the flip side, they may not be wanting that. They may just be there for their fleshly desires, right? And so it's important, you know, you guys, when you're on these apps, that you're be prayerful, you know what I'm saying? Like go old-fashioned, meet a person the old way, you know what I'm saying? Where you meet them in person, where you can meet them, where you're you can sync up with them, right? And know if they're if discern their spirit, if they are good or bad, right? Because you can tell, you know, when you meet a person for the first time, right, Eric.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think it's important for us to stick to what the word says, you know, God wants a man to pursue a woman, right? You know what I'm saying? Ladies, I I know we live in a kind of a new world that says, you know, women can go pursue men, but you know, it's it's really just kind of out of order, you know what I mean. If you really want a good relationship that's in order, allow your man to be a man and pursue you. You know, allow him to be a man because we have a lot of men out there today that operate like boys.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And if if a boy can get his hands into the cookie jar and taste the cookies um before you know he commits to his meal, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, you know, um, is is he gonna he's gonna be full when it's time to eat the meal.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

You know what I mean? So what I'm saying is allow him, allow a man to be a man, allow a man to lead, allow a man, make a man do what he is supposed to do, you know, allow him to pursue you, as the word says. You know, when a man finds a wife, he finds a good thing. That's what the word says. You know, I know when I found my wife, I found a good thing, you know, and I thank God for that, you know, and you know, we both were excited to meet each other, right? You know, Charles couldn't wait to meet me, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. Y'all heard it first.

SPEAKER_00

But, you know, we took our time and you know, God um laid it down and and and everything was done right. You know what I mean? Yeah, so you know, we want you to be in healthy situations, we don't want you to be in situations in dating where you're building trauma that's going to accompany accompany you into your later relationships, right? You know, things that you're not even thinking about that's gonna follow you into your later relationships, things that you're doing now. You know what I mean? So it's it's really important to think about because um the world today teaches us that it's okay just to give yourself away, it's just sex, you know, it's um unhealthy relationships, trauma, emotional dependency, sexual sin, or seasons where we're connected from brokenness instead of wisdom. Yeah, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Wow, that's pretty good. Yeah, well, we don't realize you know the the impact of what sex is, right? And so I'm gonna go a little bit deeper into that now. Um, as we're talking about unhealthy connections. So with unhealthy connections, don't they don't just disappear because time passes, right? This is so important to know who you lay with because they could have already left you, you know, physically, but they left their seed behind, especially if you had intercourse, right? And that's you know, getting to the um the gist of it. But now that it is in, you know, and I want you to visualize this, right? You know, you have intercourse with somebody you're not married with, right? And now their seed is internally growing in you, right? If you did not have protected sex, you know, we're just keeping it real here. Um, but now that seed is internally growing in you, and you don't understand why or what is wrong with me, what's going on after we have already separated, right? So you're thinking mentally, gosh, I'm depressed, spiritually, I can't even grow connection with God. I don't even have time to pray. What is wrong with me, right? Now, that person, like I said, they're already out of your life, moved out of your home, whatever, not in your bed, whatever those things are, but it is because you haven't broken the internal chain from that soul tie, from that last person, right? And that's why God wants us, right, to be with one partner, so we don't have to worry about soul ties. Um, and so God designed sex for a man and a woman exclusively within the covenant of their marriage, and that's you know what I'm talking about, how it makes it so beautiful, right? When a man and a woman come together and they are in relationship, but they are in the covenant of marriage under God, and so I think that that brings the difference, but you know, to talk about you know that seed, I mean, it we don't understand the brokenness that that can bring within us, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because sex is a spiritual action, and as Shars just said, you know, when you have sex, and not only when if you have unprotected sex, does when you have unprotected sex, can you know, ejaculation, do you leave like a a seed inside of a person, right? But you also leave something spiritual inside of a person from a sexual act. You know what I'm saying? There's something that that lingers there. And if you have multiple partners, you have multiple soul ties that linger there with you, and um that stays with you until you break those ties, yeah, you know, yeah. Um, and and that's something that we were talking about one morning and really just caught a hold of us, you know what I mean? And um, you know, the linger, the echo, the influences, right, that's right.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. And so the spiritual reference is Genesis 2 and 24, and that states, therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh, right? We don't want to become in one, two, three, four, and five fleshes because the word says we shall become one flesh. One, yeah. So, um, like Eric said, the unhealthy connections, they linger, you guys, they echo and they also influence. So when you think about those things, those three things just by itself, right? The linger that's just hanging around, the echo that come to your mind, yeah. Those memories, or what, oh, I wish I was with such and such that oh, he just made me feel so special. You know what I mean? Like we can go to those, or yeah, the influence, right?

SPEAKER_00

Or they just pop up in your mind out the blue sometimes, and you're like, why did that pop up in my mind?

SPEAKER_01

Why am I thinking about this person, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, so yeah, it's it's pretty well, or it can influence in a way of why am I always so unhappy with my current partner who I love so much that just why am I unhappy with them? You know what I'm saying? Why, why, you know, I don't understand why I'm unhappy with my current partner, and it can have to do with old soul ties that you're holding on to. You know what I mean? That's right.

SPEAKER_01

So also, yeah, on that, you may know it's still there when, and here's a couple of tips is you can't stop thinking about that someone long after they are gone. Their voice still shapes your identity, their rejection still affects your confidence, or their wounds still affect how you trust your spouse.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, that's wild, right? So that may not just be a memory, that may be a soul tie still pulling on your peace. So think about that. You know what I mean? Like when we really break that down. I know for me, I need my peace. I can't process, I can't function without the peace. And I'm at a point in life where I have peace. I can't allow different things to bother me or get me upset because it's like I have God's peace. And that surpasses all understanding, all everything, you know, frustrations, anger, whatever emotion I'm having negatively, that peace is so pure and so peaceful that when you think of a soul tie, something pulling you, that is straining you. That is um, what do you call it? Um deflating you. You know what I'm saying? Like it's it's just making you less than what you were intended to be. So you guys let go of those soul ties because that if you want total peace, you gotta let it go.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it tears the fabric of your relationship, and it it prevents the bond of what God intends for you and your spouse. Right.

SPEAKER_01

And this is not even for, we'll put it this way, it's not even for single people out there having sex or unprotected sex, you know, for married couples, right? From past previous relationships too, you know, um that could have affected you in a way that even if it if it was a positive influence or a negative influence, that is and it still bothers you today. That's something you have to deal with, you know, directly with God and and break those chains, right? Because that's holding you hostage. Yeah, I know I don't want to be a prisoner all my life.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

So I've given God everything, like God, take it all. I surrender it all to you. Yeah. Because I know God has already came before me and um has already seen, you know, where I am supposed to be, right? In my path and in my walk.

SPEAKER_00

We we live in we live in a world today, because I hear this term all the time where they talk about hot girl summers and hot boy summers, you know what I'm saying? Right. Where basically they're saying it's okay to go out there and sow your wild oats and do what you want to do. Go have sex with as many people as you want.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, do you, right?

SPEAKER_00

But what you're doing is you're assassinating your soul, your spirit.

SPEAKER_02

That's true.

SPEAKER_00

You know, you are destroying and decaying yourself because the more people you have sex with like that, the more bondage you put yourself in.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and no one tells you that. You know what I mean? Um, and and that's just something that we're gonna be honest with you and tell you. You know, God doesn't want you in bondage, God wants you free. Yeah, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

So, amen. So, section two, you know, the first step to breaking the chains, so it's recognition, recognizing this and being honest. So the first step um is recognition. You cannot break what you refuse to acknowledge. Acknowledge, I have an issue, you know. I'm saying, uh, or this bothers me, or I have these things in my past. And some of us need to stop pretending and and and about certain attachments and and and and how they harm us, and just say what it is, yeah. Put it out there, right? You know, and be transparent, and be transparent. Yeah, you know, the apostle Paul says, Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. Um, what fellowship can Light have with darkness. What uh this is that word yoke means spiritually linked, bound, or tied together. And if God is saying don't be yoke, that means some yokes can form that, and then that says that where never and and that where never and that and that was never meant to exist. So some some were never meant to exist. So there were some yokes that were never meant to exist.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So and here's the prayer. Many of us need to begin praying. And you can repeat this with me if you would like. Lord, I bring every unhealthy soul tie before you now. I release what has never been mine to carry, and I receive your healing where I have been bound. Amen. So, because healing starts when you stop denying what hurts you, right? You can't get healed, you can't go through a process if you're just not even acknowledging it, right? Or trying to, yeah, like Eric said, be real, right? So healing starts when you stop denying what hurt you. Even though it did hurt you, you know, other people that love you, they can see it hurt you because when you talk about it, it's emotional. Yeah, it's hurtful. So let it go. Get your get your peace back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You know, it was really helpful for Charis to sit Shara and I to sit down and have some real discussions and real um things in our relationship, and that really broke some things for us. You know what I mean? So I thank God for realness, you know what I'm saying? Because God is real, God will force you to have real conversations, you know.

SPEAKER_01

And I think the blessing in that when we were having our conversation was God reveal, you know, and you'll get some of your homework tonight, but it'll be that prayer of God revealing me that I don't even know that's hurting me. Yeah. Right. Because you could be denying it so long that it becomes a lie. You know what I'm saying? Where you say it so much like, oh, I'm good, I'm good. That never hurt me. Like in your mind, you're telling yourself that, right? But deep down, the only person that really knows is God. Yeah. And you're when you say, God, I surrender myself to you, God, I want my peace, God. Yeah. I want my hope back, God. I want, I want to know my identity in you, God, because those are the promises, right? God gives us promises. And to stand on his promises, you can't stand in those promises if you're denying what hurts you. You know what I'm saying? Putting down, like, oh, I'm good, just passing it off. And those are those soul ties that are har har harming you, right? And so Eric and I had a great conversation. I mean, with us being married 28 years, like it's wild to me because it's like when you really start asking God, reveal my heart, reveal my mind, my spirit, whatever those things are, God will He'll give you what your heart desires, right? And we had a breakthrough, it was a blessing, and just like crazy all at the same moment, but it was only by the power of God that could come and move and transform, right? So I just thank God because that's when I when I talk about the peace, you guys, that's that peace. And I I'm so thankful.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, because trauma will repress memories, that's right, and stuff like that. That's right, you know, and that's real, you know. Yeah. So in our next section, we're gonna be talking about breaking unequal yokes, right? Yes. So one solution to breaking chains is spiritual separation. Um, some people want freedom, but they keep revisiting what wounded them. So God says, choose light, choose freedom, right? Choose light, choose freedom. And maybe your prayer today needs to be I recognize the connections that were unhealthy, emotionally, spiritually, or physically. I break every unequal yoke. I choose light, I choose freedom. You know, because freedom begins when you stop agreeing with what is keeping you bound. You know?

SPEAKER_01

That's good.

SPEAKER_00

You have to stop agreeing with it. You know, you have to stop accepting it in your life. You have to break it, you know. Say no. You know, I'm not gonna do it no more.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, and I heard two key words already: peace and freedom. Now I know, I know that I needed peace and freedom, right? And God granted me that. So if you're looking for that same thing, really listen to these words because, like what Eric said, you would you say freedom begins when you stop agreeing with what is keeping you bound.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

That is so good. I love that. All right, you guys, moving on. So cutting the ties. Who's ready to cut some ties? I let's cut them up, let's cut them up. So, and that's exactly what we're about to do. So, so some people need to understand, you guys, breaking chains requires intentional cutting. It requires you saying, I cut every tie that binds me to someone you did not choose for me. What I gave away, I take back today. What was taken from me, I surrender to your healing. So if we say those things, like it's just a simple, simple prayer, you know. Just ask God, hey, I'm taking back what was stolen from me, okay? I'm not going in 2026 saying, Oh, I'm okay. No, you're not okay. You need to take back in boldness. What God has for you is for you, okay? So that is not bitterness, that is not hatred, that is taking spiritual authority over your healing because that is so important, you guys.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. That's right. Because hear me, you cannot fully become one with your spouse if your soul is still divided by your past. Marriage was created for oneness, but oneness becomes difficult when pieces of your heart are still emotionally tied to past relationships, you know, and hear me on past relationships. Past relationships look different in different types of relationships. Um, and that can be physical, emotional, spiritual relationships, uh, former trauma, old wounds, and broken attachments.

SPEAKER_01

That's really good. Wow, I like that. That's really good, you know, just really thinking about that. Those those four things you guys are really, really, really good. And you said past relationships, former trauma, old wounds, and broken attachments. Yeah. Wow, that's really good. So, I mean, when you're thinking about what your um soul tie is or what you're cutting your and breaking your chain, like think about those things because we all have had those things in our life, right? Old wounds, former trauma of any anything, you know, it could be from losing a child, losing a sibling, losing a parent, you know, maybe having to um deal with a past divorce, you know, or now you have kids together, and now you're trying to work those things out. And we're emotionally tied to those things because of we're we're in that, well, what if we could have been? Yeah, right? Or I wish that wouldn't have happened, or whatever those things are, right? It's just those are old wounds.

SPEAKER_00

So many, so many people get remarried and they were married in the past.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And they go into their new marriage, and they're still broken from their past relationships.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They're broken, you know what I'm saying? They have never faced a trauma that hurt them so bad, and they have carried their trauma into every relationship that they have gone into. And they wonder why they feel the way they feel in their relationships.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know what I'm saying? They carry that with them.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know, and it hurts, and I see it. I see it. We see in time. Yeah, you have to ask God to release that trauma, destroy that trauma. You only God can break that, only God can free that. Yeah, you know, or you're gonna continue to take your bondage to the next person that you're going into a relationship with, right? You know, and that's not fair, you know what I'm saying? And um, if you want to be healthy, yeah, you need to give it to God. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Yep. All right, so we're gonna move on to uh section five, and it's remembering who you belong to. So, and when the you know, when the enemy tries to remind you of your past, remind yourself of this truth. You are not your own, you are bought, you are bought at a price, and that comes from 1 Corinthians 6 and 19. That's good. You are not theirs, you are not what happened to you, you are not your trauma, you are not your past mistakes, and you belong to you know who? The King Almighty, Jesus.

SPEAKER_00

That right there is the beginning of healing, right there. Yeah, it is, and everybody that's broken, yeah, everybody that walks around feeling that continues to stay in that state, that security, yeah, yeah. They need to do this, they need to know that you are not there, you know, you're not your past traumas. That's right. You know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_01

You're not your past mistakes.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

You can't hold on to a 20 or 30 or 40 or even six-month-ago mistake. Yeah, right? Like you, it's okay. It is okay. You give it to God. That's right. Let God deal with it. Don't worry about family, don't worry about your friends, don't worry about your coworkers. Yeah, it they can't do nothing for you anyway. You have to give it to God.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And take the blame off of yourself and walk in. What did I say earlier? Freedom and peace. And peace. You have to, because God can He can God can use you, but He can't fully use you if you're walking broken.

SPEAKER_00

You will never be used the way you want to be used.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

You will always be sitting outside of use and looking in at the potential of possibility.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And that's hard. That's a hard place to be.

SPEAKER_00

Because there are so many people that have this eye and this vision about how they want to be used, but they'll never achieve it until they surrender.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. That's good, eh?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So declare this over yourself. Amen. I am not theirs. I am, I am not what happened. I am not yours. I am it says, I am not yours, body, soul, and spirit. Wash every corner of of me clean. Thank you, God. I am yours. I am yours. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Body, soul, and spirit.

SPEAKER_00

Wash every corner of me clean.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Let's read that again. I am not theirs. I am not what happened. I am yours. Body, soul, and spirit. Wash every corner of me clean.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

That's healing language.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

That's restoration language. Yes, it is. That's identity renewal.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

You know? And you have to speak that way if you want to be healed. You have to learn to speak into power. You know, honestly, you have to speak into power with your words. That's something I'm learning with words, the power of words. If you want God to move in your life, you have to learn how to talk with power. If you don't learn how to talk with the power of the Holy Spirit, you will always be in the same place. So you have to start saying, I am not theirs. I am, I am not what happened. I am yours, body, soul, and spirit. Wash everything. Wash, I'm sorry, wash every corner of me clean. In Jesus' name. I mean, you have to empower the Holy Spirit with authority. That's right. You have to use healing language, restoration language. You know, if you want God to really move in your life, you have to speak with authority. Use it and speak with boldness, spiritual boldness. That's what God wants us to do.

SPEAKER_01

Amen. I love it. That is so good. So I think we're going to go into section six, and it says, God heals the broken places. So if you just prayed that prayer that Eric just said with authority, now God's like, let's heal the broken places, right? So, because when God breaks a tie, you guys, he doesn't just remove something, he heals what was damaged in the process. Wow. Psalms 34 and 18 says, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

SPEAKER_02

Amen.

SPEAKER_01

And many people need to hear this, you know, because God is near your brokenness. God is near your healing. And God is near the places in you still hurting. God knows all those things. He knows your heart. God says, examine, examine my heart. He knows your heart. He knows your heart before you know your heart. He knows your thoughts before you know your thoughts. So God knows you more than anybody because He created you, right? He designed you. But He doesn't want us walking in brokenness. He wants us healed. Healed from the hurting.

SPEAKER_00

And what I love about Psalms 34 and 18, that scripture says the Lord is close. Amen. Right? And it reminds us that the Lord is close to every situation that's going on in our life, no matter if it's good or bad. You know, broken-hearted stuff or good stuff, God is always near. He is always present for us.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, he is.

SPEAKER_00

You know. So if breaking these ties hurts, pray this. Be close to me here, Lord. Fill every broken place. Fill every emptied place, Lord. Because freedom is not just breaking chains. Freedom is allowing God to fill the void left behind.

SPEAKER_01

Amen. That's awesome. I love that. So now we're about to start walking in wholeness, okay? And this is the final step is breaking chains, is walking in your new identity. We talked about that earlier, and I was talking about know your identity. Now that you have given it all to God, declare this over your life. My entire being, body, soul, and spirit was purchased by the blood of Jesus. I no longer belong to past relationships, traumatic experiences, or sinful entanglements.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, declare that. Declare that. And declare this too. I ask you to cleanse and restore every part of me that has been wounded, fragmented, or bound. Amen, God. Because healing is not partial with God. He wants all of you whole. Amen. All of you. And today we declare I am whole.

SPEAKER_01

I am free. And I am yours. Amen. I love you. Amen. Amen. So just, you know, you guys, you walk in that and know God is who he always is. That's right. And he loves us. He loves you. Um, he loves our marriages. He loves all the single people. Like, God loves everybody. Like, walk in what he has for you. Because what is intended for you, it will come your way. You know what I mean? Like, it's gonna be just for you. And when it comes, you're gonna know and say, God did that. This was a God thing, right? Yeah, so just pray those prayers, get whole, get new. Yeah, get your new identity so you can walk in peace and freedom.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, change the cycles in your life. That's right. Change the behaviors and patterns that you're doing in your life so that you can have a better connection with the Lord, whether you're single or married. Yeah, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Do things to put yourself in alignment and preparation for everything that God has for you. Because God has so much for you. Claim it.

SPEAKER_01

And change your heart posture.

SPEAKER_00

Amen.

SPEAKER_01

You know, that is so important. If your heart is, if it was broken, you can't you can't be open to receive new love. Right. And if somebody comes up to you and says, Hey, I would love to take you out to dinner, but you know, the last person that you went out with kind of disregarded you, or maybe they didn't like you, or whatever it was, something negative could have happened, but and now we're hurt, right? That trauma that you were talking about, Eric. So I think it's it's so important to position your heart, make sure your posture is right, but make sure your posture number one is right with God so He can reveal what you need in your life. Yes, because he always does.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. I was talking with a family member today who made this decision in their life, and they said, you know, I have taken a stance to say I am focused on on changing my heart posture and my focus so that I can focus on the Lord, so that I can be better aligned so that when the right person does come in my life, I'm ready for it. You know, I am so proud of that person.

SPEAKER_01

That's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

You know, God is gonna do so much for that person, and I just thank God. I just continue to pray for all my family, all the people out there that we follow and love, um, and that we're praying for in their marriage and relationships, you know. God's gonna do so much for them. That's right, because of the fact that they're willing to put the work in and take the steps to make that change. That's right. You know, as Michael said, make that change. You know. So, review section. Let's review today's key points. Um, number one, you must recognize unhealthy soul ties before you can break them. You know, and do we remember what a soul tie is? A soul tie is something that links you to something or someone in your past in an unhealthy way.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And then you must separate from what keeps you bound.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Um, you must cut ties with what God did not choose for you.

SPEAKER_01

And you must remember your identity belongs to Christ.

SPEAKER_00

You must allow God to heal the broken places left behind. So all those broken things that have been left behind, those residuals that you never fix, those things, those crumbs, you have to deal with those crumbs that have been left on the Table.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. All right. So we always have your favorite, the homework section. Um, so your homework this week is number one, pray prayer of revelation. Ask God daily, Lord, reveal every unhealthy soul tie in my life until it's resolved, right? Fully resolved. If that's writing it down, praying over it, burn it up, rip it up, do what you gotta do, so you can wipe your hands of it and move on with your life. And number two, journal reflection. Write down what relationships still emotionally affect me, what wounds still shape my trust, and what voices from my past still impact my identity. Okay. Number three, pray the release prayer prayer, spend intentional time praying. Lord, I release every unhealthy soul tie before you, heal every place where I have been found. Amen. Just like that. And then homework. So if you're married, this is for our married couples out there, have a vulnerable conversation with your spouse about wounds affecting your marriage, fears and pen impacting your trust with each other, emotional walls that are still present. What are those, right? Just and you can add to, you know what I mean, if there's anything else, you know what I mean that you guys um personally need to connect or talk about. Um, so healing, you guys, it begins with honesty. That is the number one thing. And sometimes honesty hurts, and sometimes it can bring emotions, it can bring tears, it can bring anger, but it's important to trust God in this process because I I tell you, and me and Eric can speak on this for personal um um experience, is when you go through this process, I mean, it really does make you think, right, Eric. It makes you like, wow, like I never even thought about that, or I never even thought about what that person in the past did to me, and I'm still holding on to that. Maybe that's why I don't trust you in this because I was hurt from that, right? And so, you know, I'll always tell my husband, I work with so many people on a daily basis, and it's like everybody has a story, you know. I always see, like, I think of people, I don't care how old you are, I I take you back to as if you were a kid. What happened to you when you were young? You know, did your parent talk down to you? Did they bring you up in a positive environment? You know, were you punished a lot? Were you um compared to, you know, with other people or you should be this? Why not that? You know what I mean? And those things can hurt you. That that's trauma too. A comparison trap. It's a comparison trap, which we've talked about. And so don't just think of trauma as a sexual thing. So I I really want you guys to really expound when you're getting into these conversations with yourself, with God, or with your spouses. Um, so really dive deep. I I guarantee you it will give you that peace, freedom, and new identity that you're looking for, that you're searching for. Um, but it's just that's where the healing begins.

SPEAKER_00

That's right, that's right. And, you know, as we do these awesome podcasts that we love to do for you guys, we always want to give the opportunity for all of our listeners to accept Jesus Christ because that's extremely important to us. So we're gonna read a prayer here to give you that opportunity. So if you're listening today and realizing you need Jesus in your life, knowing this, freedom begins with surrender. Jesus came to break every chain of sin, pain, bondage, and brokenness. If you want to accept Him today, pray this with us both. Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner in need of your grace. I believe you died for my sins and rose again. Today I surrender my life to you. Be my Lord, Savior, and my King. Break every chain of my life, heal every broken place in me, Lord. Make me whole again, fill me with your Holy Spirit. Teach me to follow you, Lord. For this day forward, I belong to you in Jesus' holy name. And if you prayed that prayer, you now belong to the King of Kings.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

And you are sealed and saved in Jesus' name. That's right. And we invite you, if you prayed that prayer, if you ever need, have any questions, have any thoughts or need to connect, feel free to reach out to us because we're glad to connect and to support you in your next steps as a new believer in Christ, because we love you and we want to make sure and let you know that you're not alone in your journey.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Amen.

SPEAKER_01

And welcome to the family.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to the fam.

SPEAKER_01

So um, our closing prayer. We just thank you guys for joining today because it's just it's a heavy topic, right? That you will personally have to deal with. And I just tell you it is so freeing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's freeing and it's important. Yes. This one's been so deep on my heart for weeks, and um we put it off and waited a little bit, you know, but we just want you guys to heed to what was said, you know, and and really take it to heart, you know, whether you're single, married, and and and really think about what we said, because um there are so many things and soul ties, and things that are lurking in our hearts sometimes that we don't realize that are holding us back and kind of under a rock. Under a rock, yeah. Yeah, hurting us. And God wants us to be free.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

He wants us to be free, and He wants He wants you to be in a place so that you can grow. You know, He wants you to be good soil that He can fertilize. So, you know, really, really, really open up to this.

SPEAKER_01

Amen. That's right. All right, so let's close out in prayer. Father God, we just thank you for your word today. We thank you that you are breaking chains, exposing hidden wounds, and healing every broken place within us. We pray that every unhealthy soul tie be severed in Jesus' name. We pray for healing over every emotional wound, restoration, over every fragmented heart, and peace over every marriage represented here today, God, and all of our singles as well, God. Heal every place of brokenness where these soul ties have been severed. Fill those spaces with your presence and truth.
