In Part 2, the Erins delve into the psychology of The Valley. One word: scary. Then, they bring it back to the East Coast for an In The City recap where Amanda & West are STILL the problem. They wrap this week up with a palate cleanser of each of their lists of expensive things worth the money. Cha-ching!
Hi, I'm Erin. And I'm Erin. It's time to air it out. Hello and welcome to part two of a two-part episode. Be sure to go to part one for Real Housewives of Orange County, Love Island USA finale recap, and the Valley. Okay, can I
Psychological Note! What is consent?
SPEAKER_01mention some psychological notes about the Valley? I went down a rabbit hole today. I went into academic papers. I went onto my school's library academic resources to find the DSM. I did not open up the DSM. Because we're not diagnosing here. Thank you. Because we're not diagnosing. Although I'm sure I could have if I wanted to. Okay, so I wanted to talk about consent. Oh, okay. Because I think when Nia is comparing Danny's behavior to Jesse's behavior, to Brittany's behavior, to whoever, and saying they're all doing drunken antics. Why is Danny's any different? Consent is the reason why it's different. Because consent is the reason why something becomes sexual assault. Because you can have mutual insane behavior and it's consensual. For example, Jesse in I actually went so far as to watch the scene where Jesse is drunk in the van last year, and that's what Nia's referring to. She went into the archives. Well, Nia said, Yeah, oh well, he was, you know, giving a lap dance, and it was Jason that he was lap dancing on. Yeah. And Jason was clearly reciprocated. He was slapping his butt, laughing. Who knows if he was just placating or whatever. And Jesse and people were complaining about his antics, and it wasn't great, but at least there was like some mutual-ness going on. So I want and consent is the reason his behavior is unacceptable.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's the reason anyone's behavior in any situation is unacceptable because it's not the drinking. The drinking obviously creates the vibe of it, but it is the action. The impact. The impact. Yeah. So I wanted to just really quick take a little side note. And this is from there's a there is a nonprofit called the Consent Academy. And one of my professors founded that and does a lot of education about consent because consent is more complicated than we think and we know because it's not just say yes or say no, or it's not just have the vibe of yes, have the vibe of no. So I wanted to give a little bit of a definition from it. So the their website is consent.academy, and there's a lot of resources on there, but consent is a shared feeling created together through a process of constant collaborative discovery. It's a feeling that comes from voluntary agreement made without coercion between those with decision-making capacity, aka not drunk, knowledge, understanding, and autonomy. Sexual consent is co-creating the feeling of consent between all parties involved in a sexual situation, which may include people who are not physically present during a sexual act. So we need four things in order for consent to occur, and these occur in order. So the first thing that we need is capacity. So sound mind and body. The second we need is information, like you know, you know what you're signing up for. And if those two things are present, then we can go to the third and you can have explicit verbal consent. And that requires checking in with yourself to see, okay, do I really want to do this? And vice versa. And then the fourth thing we need is autonomy because you need to feel that you're empowered to say no if you want to, and you need to give the other person autonomy to say no. So the reason I say that is those four things need to be present. And when Danny is grabbing asses and whatever in bars, we have lack of capacity on both ends because he's drinking, the people he is grabbing are drinking, lack of information because they're, you know, hanging out with Danny and thinking it's fine, and then all of a sudden, you know, these things are happening. And we have a lack of verbal consent. We have a lack of everything.
SPEAKER_00A lack of everything.
SPEAKER_01And we all, by the way, we all have consent violations in life. It's not just a sexual thing, it's a life thing. It's like it's like when I want to throw away my husband's old shirts without telling him because our age. But there's levels, and that's the reason here that we have a problem. And it's a big problem. It's not just he gets drunk. We're talking he's verbally assaulting his wife. He's emotionally he is emotionally abusive. There's no doubt about it. The
Psychological Note! What is projection & internalization?
SPEAKER_01other psychological note I have is I wanted to explain the process of how someone like Danny can get to the point that he is now in his process because he is unable to take accountability and responsibility. He externalizes, which is Janet's the problem. So I'm gonna disparage her character and everything. She's the problem, or the situation's the problem. They were egging me on, whatever. And then he projects, and that's what he does to Nia. So he accuses whenever he feels shameful about something, he accuses Nia of doing that thing. You didn't look after me, you didn't stick up for me, you didn't blah, blah, blah. And what Nia does is Nia then internalizes. And when she internalizes, she believes that she is at fault. And what happens when you are in that dynamic really severely, like they are? She actually believes that she is the problem. And that if she works hard enough to manage every person around her to make sure everything's okay, including gaslighting people to not believing the experience they had with Danny, that they that everything will be okay. So she has like her brain's working overtime in survival, and she is willing to put herself in harm's way so that he with the white prairie dress as the linebacker. As the linebacker, so that Danny doesn't get in trouble. And that's why she gets upset with other people quote unquote provoking him, because she has this whole set of this whole contract with Danny that's like unsaid and unspoken, where people are violating this contract for her. She doesn't even realize, but they're violating it for her because they're provoking him. They're doing this thing. And oh my God, if only people would stop doing this, then Danny, don't you guys know that this is the reason? When really it's all comes down to Danny's behavior, is Danny's responsibility. It's no one else's. It's not the situation you're in, it's not how much you drank, it's not that someone said, you know, you were uncomfortable. None of it. When it comes down to it, it's just his responsibility. And I just wanted to say that because I don't want to get it twisted on any other thing. It's just that.
SPEAKER_00But we know he's never gonna take responsibility because of maybe.
SPEAKER_01Probably not.
SPEAKER_00Probably not.
SPEAKER_01I mean, if he hasn't at this point, yeah. Clearly they haven't based on what we see on social media and everything else. I don't think that there's and that gives me the feeling of there's no hope because you have to have willingness to grow and willingness to change, and anyone can change. So he could change, but like what we see now is not it.
SPEAKER_00No, there's been no no level of accountability from either of them. And I think that's why I say he's not gonna change because it requires accountability. It's been almost two seasons at this point of people trying to call him out, yeah, and then the constant defensiveness and deflection. Yep. And like you said, even currently on what they're posting in real time on social media, when they're on Watch What Happens Live.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know. It has nothing to do with Janet at all.
SPEAKER_00So, Janet, we love you. Justice for Janet. Justice for Janet episode type.
SPEAKER_01And I think she's really funny. She has a very dry sense of humor. I agree. But I like it, and I think she's funny, and she's very cutting, but I like that about her. Agreed. Okay. Janet. And her style has improved a lot because it was dicey there for a while.
SPEAKER_00We just need to work on the spaghetti in a bag.
SPEAKER_01I'm again, that's my only grievance, and I will take that to the grave.
SPEAKER_00Nobody's perfect, you know? Nobody's perfect. All right. Well, I think that's gonna put a pin in the valley. We're definitely winding down on the season. Uh I can't I can't thank God. I don't know if they've filmed the reunion yet. I feel like they probably have had to. There's probably only a couple episodes left.
SPEAKER_01Maybe, but we haven't seen any outfits or anything. So it could be that they filmed it and they just have a time when they have to.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, or so much has been happening that I've just forgotten. Could be.
In The City Recap
SPEAKER_00Going to the East Coast, the finale of In the City. Oh, we need a little more bass.
SPEAKER_01Why is there a microphone? What is going on? Is Kyle DJing the Thanksgiving? You look fabulous. Your your pants are really high. Georgina, that is the jumpsuit I wanted for you. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Friendsgiving.
SPEAKER_00I know that we're gonna have some thoughts on this one, picking up our discussion from last week regarding Whitney's comment about Lindsay playing the single mom card. I know some of your thoughts have evolved after seeing this week's episode. So I think I just want to start there. I'm dying to know what you thought because then I need to share my thoughts.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I can't wait. First, I need to offer a I need to walk back last week's. I was listening to last week's episode and I think I was hard on Danielle. And okay. Starting off strong already. And so I decided that I'm gonna say three nice things about Danielle. That's so kind. The first is that she's pretty.
SPEAKER_00She is.
SPEAKER_01The second is that the short hair looks great and she has really nice hair. And the third is that she probably scored highly on her SATs. Okay. And so those are my three. That's so nice.
SPEAKER_00We can move on now. Okay. I was gonna say I did not prepare three nice things about Danielle. That's okay. I did for us. The floor is yours. I know uh via our texts that you are maybe not so happy with the doubling down that Whitney did in this episode.
SPEAKER_01It was the doubling down.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01I had gone into this thinking that she might have maybe just not articulated. Maybe she kind of meant what she said, but like it wasn't, you know, whatever. And it was the doubling down. I could tell she was just parroting what her and Kenny had planned for her to say. I just felt that way about how she was speaking. I did not like how she was talking about single mom, nanny, blah, blah, blah, which is kind of irrelevant a little bit. I know my God, I almost said Jeanette. Lindsay. I know Lindsay had said, Oh, we're two busy moms, but like it turned into this whole other thing. But it turned into this whole other thing because Whitney was doubling down on it and saying it and beating it into the ground. And then when she was confronted about it, she said, Oh, it has nothing to do with the mom thing, but that's all you were talking about.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so, yes, Lindsay is privileged, okay? She, whatever, but this is not the life she envisioned. And the reality is, is just because someone has a nanny doesn't mean that they're not a mom. It doesn't mean that they're not deserving of the title of this is my job, and that is what I do, and this job is important. Just because someone has resources does not mean and uh and Lindsay doesn't have the emotional resources that she would like. I think she envisioned being in a couple and have and she has issues with her own mom, so she doesn't have that support built in like a lot of people do. And I just felt pretty grossed out by Whitney doubling down because I don't I don't even think it was her words, to be honest. I just got that vibe. And then Kenny sort of being along for the ride and him thinking that this whole room thing was for him to bestow, even though he and Lindsay planned it. So I rethought about that and I was like, you know what, they plan this thing together. And then all of a sudden he's going, Well, I thought it was this grand gesture, but why are you above Lindsay? Who is literally, isn't she a producer on the show? Or like I don't think so. Very involved with that, at least. I don't know if officially, but you're gonna think that you have the authority to make and and he's doing this thing that's about the dynamic between Lindsay and Yvonne. So I don't know why he thinks that he has this authority.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And doing this whole grand gesture, like, oh, I was gonna do this really nice thing. It's like you're giving someone the master bedroom in a uh mansion. Yeah. I'm pretty sure there's other nice rooms. Yeah. So I don't know. I just felt like Lindsay was caught off guard and she said, Oh, we're two working moms and some, and it turned into this whole thing. And then Kenny with the friends giving, being like, Oh my god, it's my favorite. He chopped vegetables for about two seconds, and then guess who was making the whole fucking dinner? Those single moms, so they have the easiest life and whatever, and they were the ones shocked to no one because they're moms, so people assume that they just have more bandwidth. People like Kenny assume that like this is their job, I'm sure, subconsciously. First of all, let me tell you, I know this man's a trumper.
SPEAKER_00He's going off, folks.
SPEAKER_01I just know it in my heart. And you know what he probably does on his dating profile in New York? That's probably gone half around Manhattan there and back 16 times, is he probably says he's moderate. That's the telltale sign. Because he's in New York and he knows that that's not gonna fly. And so he says he's moderate. That's what people do here too. He was giving me Trump vibes. Okay. Continue. I just I need to get off this because I'll be here.
SPEAKER_00She's gonna keep going.
SPEAKER_01I'll be here for too long.
SPEAKER_00So I agree with you on some things and I disagree with you on others. Shock. I I do think that it seemed like Whitney was speaking Kenny's thoughts because I don't know if it was last episode or a couple weeks ago when Kenny and Lindsay went to get drinks and to hash things out or smooth things over, and then they started to plan this trip. That conversation, they seemed to wash things way too easily between themselves. And so I it I did get the sense that Kenny had been talking about these things with Whitney, and he maybe suggested this would be a great way for you to get some screen time or to get in the mix of the storyline in the words of Carl Radke. Yes, I love that line. I'm gonna use it all the time. So funny. Um so yes, I do agree with that. I also think it's weird her doubling down on the nanny piece because I really think that all of that's irrelevant.
SPEAKER_01Completely irrelevant.
SPEAKER_00As someone that does not have a child, I think it's weird to comment on how other people parent, unless there's something like objectively wrong.
SPEAKER_01It was almost like she had a hierarchy in her mind. Like other people work hard and you don't blah da da. It's like what that would make sense.
SPEAKER_00I do still think I if these were truly her thoughts, that I agree with what it seems like she intended to say versus what she actually said, in that Lindsay and Georgina were playing the mom card and that they were using that in a way to justify their time, their energy, their needs, and prioritizing that about people that didn't have kids. I still I don't know if I think that that's what they were doing, but I think that if it is what they were doing, that is a valid concern and thing for Whitney to bring up to say, like, hey, I understand you have that going on, but we have all these other things. Everyone else has the other things that they're dealing with. And having children doesn't necessarily mean that your time is more valuable or you have less energy than us. But that is not how it was articulated. And so I understand why there was a big reaction. Yeah. Because if if that truly was the heart of her issue, she didn't say that. She needs to find her words um better. Um, but then also she kept tying it back to what her issue was is that she wanted Lindsay to be a better friend to Yvonne, which again, I can agree. We talked about that last week. Like Lindsay kind of has her boundaries, her vision of how things should go, and is really inflexible in that regard. And if that's what Whitney had a problem with, that doesn't really have anything to do with being a mom or not.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So then frame your argument in that way. Right. So those two things kind of what she started off saying versus how she ended it did not match up, and that was confusing. But where Lindsay did lose me, she does get a little wild sometimes. They were having the argument in the kitchen. She admitted that being a mom is a card and that she does play it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So then it's like, oh, you were doing the thing that Whitney and Kenny were frustrated that you were doing. So it was just the circular argument that I don't believe Whitney was articulating well. And then I at the end ultimately don't think Lindsay defended herself well in that argument because she was like, Yeah, it is a card and I played it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So where does that leave us?
SPEAKER_01Right. Part of me is like, I can appreciate, as usual, I have I always have this feeling when Lindsay does these type of things where I'm like, I appreciate the candor. It's true. And it doesn't take away the problematic bit of it all, but there's an appreciation. I think if Whitney were to have kind of said it how you were saying it when confronted, not that she had to say it a perfect way, but it instead of backpedaling and being like, it's not about that, it's whatever. But then saying it behind her back and kind of like continuing to talk about it, but saying, I I would have in I would have had more understanding for Whitney if she was like, I don't mean to comment on your parenting, but we are all tired and we're all busy and whatever. That I can get down with. Yeah. And it was Kenny, and I'm gonna say Whitney in this as well, wants to position himself as the room-giving authority, even though Lindsay planned the trip or was one of the planners and has been in the show and the TV realm for longer. Kenny gets to grant the room, define Lindsay's motivation or her motivations, then potentially use her reaction as proof that she's unreasonable.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I think from day one, Kenny has been out for Lindsay because she called him out about his behavior.
SPEAKER_00And I think he's the type of person that wouldn't want to be partnered with a woman that is strong and firm and speaks her mind. Yeah, absolutely not. Clearly, not saying that not being that way is wrong, but that's not who Whitney is. No. So of course he immediately had a problem. And I think to your point, Whitney said that Lindsay in her reaction, she his exact quote was chose violence, and how she reacted to his comments. That's a wild thing to say because when Lindsay and Georgina said they were gonna take that room, they didn't know at that time that Kenny had offered that room to Nick and Yvonne. Okay, this is what we're doing. So I think that's I think that's the biggest point in Lindsay's defense. Yeah, is that they it's not like they knew that that was an offer on the table and they disregarded and said, actually, we're more deserving, so we're gonna take it. They just said, Hey, we're gonna share a room because of X, Y, and Z reasons.
SPEAKER_01So I'm sure Lindsay went in going, Oh, well, I plan the trip. I've been here, like I know what's going on, we'll share a room. The other thing is I think my my theory is that Kenny it has such disregard for women that he didn't even consider the fact that he should consult with Lindsay. Hey, I'm thinking about doing this thing. What do you think about the room arrangements, whatever, before he did this whole grand gesture, and then was upset that she had an opinion. I think he's been out to disparage her character from day one. I caught it day one when he said, like, oh, you're giving I hate men vibes simply because she said she moved across the country without a ring. And he's very threatened by that because he doesn't want anyone in Whitney's ear. And he wants to, it's the same thing that Danny does with Janet. I'm gonna disparage her whole character and her whole life so that anything she says because she's dangerous and I can't control her like I can control other women.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And the way that he describes Whitney as a red flag to me, she's a doll, she's an angel, she always has a good mood. It's like everything is in relation to how she can serve him and how she can be submissive. And I just think he's giving me really controlling vibes. Yeah. I think he's giving me early relational red flags, like scary red flags.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. One thing that Whitney said that cracked me up was in the heat of the argument in the kitchen, and Gavin started getting involved and chirping over Lindsay's shoulder. Whitney looks at Gavin and goes, Gavin, shut up. I'm sick of you. Which I love. Me too, because it's like Gavin, be quiet, pipe down. You're not involved in this. No. You don't need to be. You're the guy who gets free drinks for people. Right. You don't need to be getting in the mix and escalating an RD10 situation when, yeah, they're trying to just mash the potatoes.
SPEAKER_01Meanwhile, Gavin and him go outside.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And this is about 30 seconds after they start chopping one thing that they're making. They're him and Whitney are making the salad. But Kenny is hosting this Friendsgiving. Oh my god, it's so important to me. I do Friendsgiving every year. Yet he is not lifting a finger, yet he is so convinced that these women are gonna take care of him that he doesn't even check in with anyone to know that it's okay for him to step out. Except that emotion.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I did appreciate when they went outside that they both cried. Yeah. Not saying that it was genuine because we can have feelings on if anything Kenny's doing is genuine, but I do think it is a rare thing to see grown adult men talking about not only their emotions, but their platonic relationships with each other and being vulnerable in the way where they both were admitting, you know, that each other has been a pivotal part of their lives. And they saw how their relationship was kind of deep. Reeling and they didn't like that. Um, I think Gavin got more emotional than Kenny did, but I I did think I clocked a couple tears or at least them welling up in Kenny's eyes. A little something. And I did I did appreciate that because it's not often that we see men showing emotion in that way, and I think that's always helpful. Yeah. If that's something that's out there for folks to see.
SPEAKER_01I like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Although I did get the vibe in that that Kenny was trying to control what Gavin was saying. Well, yes. Of course, obviously. Yeah. That's limo. I got the sub note of uh don't say anything, be on my side, or this is gonna be a problem.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I do, though, don't like siding with men that are annoying, but I do see Kenny's perspective a bit on the little jabs that Gavin would constantly say about Whitney and his relationship. Like that there are a lot. Would obviously be annoying, especially from someone that you say is one of your best friends that are constantly making these digs. It's fine if that's his humor, but this was Whitney's, she had just moved to New York. Yeah. He obviously doesn't have that rapport and relationship with her yet to be making those jokes not only to her but about her in the relationship. So it's rude. I I do get why Kenny was frustrated and upset, but I'm glad they were seemingly able to resolve it. Yes. And still profess their friendship love for one another.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I did like that. But Kenny's biggest sin of it all was um his outfit for the Friendsgiving. Did you notice that?
SPEAKER_00Was it some sort of cable knit sweater situation?
SPEAKER_01Well, he everyone looked amazing. Okay.
SPEAKER_00This I think was the origin of Amanda's fuck ass bun. She was wearing it. I was thinking that. I was like, is this the first one? And I was like, oh my god, she's doing it again. But then I realized this was the first one. This was before the reunion was filmed. So that was funny, but also I did love her outfit. Oh, her outfit objectively.
SPEAKER_01Actually, these are New Yorker people who have they're fabulous people, and they are they looked all amazing, except for Kyle's um knit blazer that he was wearing, but that's okay. But this man, so we have people impeccably dressed. Yep. It's a it's holiday formal, I would say. And we have Kenny who comes in last because he is hosting, quote unquote, even though he's done nothing. And he's wearing Kirkland signature jeans, oversized. He's wearing a Jax Taylor sweater, ill-fitting. He's wearing probably Ug brand, sort of not Ug boots, but almost. And that's what he's coming in with. Wow. And then he carves the turkey like he's the man at the table and sits at the end.
SPEAKER_00And he he I think he sliced like maybe six slices.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Probably for all the men. Yeah. And that was, I mean, he disrespect.
SPEAKER_00He is the problem. Oh, he's first share a problem. You know, Danny and Luke are our number one ops on the on the valley.
SPEAKER_01Kenny is I think Kenny could be Danny or Luke next season, the season after. I think I feel it in my bones.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think I never want to hear about Yvonne's pretend second wedding, whatever the hell that was, ever again.
SPEAKER_00No. We won't we'll hear about all of their babies because they're all pregnant. They are. Danielle had her baby though. She did.
SPEAKER_01And her baby was very early. Very early. So I hope she's doing okay. Yeah. See, I'm saying another nice thing about Danielle today. That's what we call growth folks. Yeah. Um, the room that they had the dinner in was hilarious. It looked like they were in a conference room at the Holiday Inn.
SPEAKER_00This was also my comment. Like, what was that room?
SPEAKER_01It was around the corner with the little with the little table.
SPEAKER_00Listen, I shabby chic table. I would want to be at a party where DJ Kyle cooked.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. They made and um Andrea, which I'm loving him more and more. Yes. His tablescape, honestly amazing. As a family, I come from a legacy of tablescapes and I appreciated it, and I know he was raised right.
SPEAKER_00It gave me flashbacks to that season of Summer House where he does that Italian dinner and was so proud of like the tablecloth and everything, and then it was ruined by Danielle and Sierra getting into an argument, and then Andrea went outside and cried. He's a very loving man.
SPEAKER_01I really like him a lot. Me too. I can understand why him and Paige didn't work out. I think he's with the right person now.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01I think he I think he's with another very soulful sensitive person. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Love Andrea and Lexi. But then, of course, we had to end the season. We couldn't just have a clean break of them dancing in the morning to DJ Kyle Cook. We had to have a jarring return to the West and Amanda drama. Yeah. We had to have a sad Amanda sulking in the hallway by herself. She clearly again was trying to position herself as a victim, saying she's scared to walk outside and people are like yelling and screaming at her, ma'am, you did this to yourself. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then I'm And why are you in the city? Because you're with this idiot who probably doesn't want to leave the city. When in reality, you if you're so scared for your life, which I'm sure she I mean, I'm sure it's terrible, but why are you there? Oh, is it because your man doesn't want to leave? Probably.
SPEAKER_00You can tell that Kyle still cares a lot for her, wants to protect her, which I think is noble and admirable because he certainly does not have to at this point. Absolutely not. Um again, I just think it shows how twisted and delusional her brain is where she even posits to joke about her and Wes should go on a double date with Kyle and Sally. Like that is not it's far too much.
SPEAKER_01I think it's sacred for these jokes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Hate it.
SPEAKER_01My last note on that is Amanda saying, We're all just humans trying to live life for the first time together. I thought that is extremely West coded. That is something that Wes has told her. Fed her that line. Yep, fettered that line. That's a fuckboy line. Oh my god, I'm just doing this for the first time.
SPEAKER_00Because it again strips away all accountability from yourself. Being like, this is just my first time on earth. I don't know what I'm doing. Ha ha ha. Yeah. Sure. Yes, this is your first time living in this day in this moment. But you have how many years of experience to be able to have the emotional intelligence, situational awareness to know how you should and shouldn't act. And then, especially in retrospect, to still be able to say that with your full chest, eye roll.
SPEAKER_01I'm almost, I mean, I was here for the drama, but I'm getting fatigued. Fatigued. I'm glad it's over. I'm fatigued because it's 10:52. This might have to be a two-part episode, I'm just saying. And and I'm here for it.
SPEAKER_00You'll figure that out when you're editing.
SPEAKER_01Listener, you will find out while at next Wednesday, yes, whether we ended up doing two parts or one.
Amanda Batula prank pregnancy announcement!?
SPEAKER_00But this lends itself into was it this past Tuesday? You rapid fired, I think I counted, 11 texts. Yeah. To me. About a TikTok that you saw. And then I didn't immediately answer you. So then you called me and you needed to yell about what you thought you saw. Explain.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I get on my tickety talk, okay? And I'm not deep in the lore. My TikTok algorithm is gardening and toddlers and crafts. Okay. I'm not in the lore. I'm not so when these things come across my desk, it's alarming. She takes them at face value. I take them at face value. And it was like posted within the hour. Okay, so I'm like this hot off the press. All I see is it is posted by West Wilson. There's a TikTok. And it is a TikTok of Amanda Batula. They're at a bodega. And Amanda is opening the refrigerator door at the store. She's grabbing multiple containers of ice cream. Then she's grabbing multiple containers of pickles. What is it? 20 seconds? Short. Yeah. Nothing is said. Nothing is captioned. I, it was an emergency, I was so I was like, this is a pregnancy announcement. And then I have thoughts about the fact that whatever it wasn't, it was, we don't know. These people are unwell. Who does that? And especially if this is, and maybe I almost think it might not be a joke because part of me is like, are they just testing the waters to see how people are gonna react?
SPEAKER_00Let me just do a live of reading of these texts that Aaron sent me. So first it was She's got receipts, timeline screenshot. It was the emojis of the red exclamation mark. So emergency. Three of those. Then she sends me the TikTok. Next text. What am I watching? This is called Boots on the Ground Journalism, okay? Next text, all caps. Is she pregnant? Next text. Is this a pregnancy announcement? SOS emoji. Three alarm emojis. These people will go to the bottom of hell to make jokes.
SPEAKER_01The rumors and nastiness about her.
SPEAKER_00And then there's more.
SPEAKER_01And then I called you.
SPEAKER_00And then she called me.
SPEAKER_01Well, I knew you were with your family who was visiting on an island. But it's an emergency.
SPEAKER_00And I answered.
SPEAKER_01It was an emergency journalism. And that's what we call dedication to the craft.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yep. What I was thinking is that this all happened, really coinciding with when they knew filming was picking up for the new season of Summer House. So it was again them trying to draw attention to themselves, them knowing they're not on this new season. Their former friends are having fun, continuing on this show that they've been a part of for a very long time, and finding a way to bring the conversation background to themselves. And I think we as a society need to collectively decide to ignore all of their antics from here on out because this is what they want.
SPEAKER_01True. And they're probably thinking, oh my God, let's just like fuck with people. And like, you know, there's all these rumors. So, like, what if we just like, you know, give in to them and do this thing, it'd be so funny. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And even separating themselves from the situation that they created, the discord within their friend group, I think in general, it's just so distasteful to joke about pregnancy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because I I think within the past maybe five, ten years, a lot of the taboonists talking about pregnancy, difficulty trying to conceive, pregnancy loss, like women are feeling more empowered. Yeah, just so distasteful in in the age of people, women being more open to talk about difficulty of trying to conceive, pregnancy loss, different journeys to start in their own families, just to think that that's a topic that's okay, just to nonchalantly joke about for attention is really gross to me.
SPEAKER_01These people are absolutely delusional because they think everything can be a joke. This is they went to the depths of hell to make this into a joke. And here's why this is disgusting to me. Because we know these are not two people that have said, Oh yeah, we're never having kids, we don't want to do that. That is still distasteful, but okay, maybe you're just trying to like get a rise out of people. Amanda has said over and over how much she wants children, how much she wants to be a mom, and she's at a prime of her life where she should be thinking about doing that and taking those steps if that is what she wants, which is what she has said she wants. I don't think you just snap out of that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And to make this joke, it's like they truly believe anything can be a joke.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because this is what Amanda did when her and Kyle got divorced. She was posting these like joking things about like moving out and and whatever. And it's like, okay, so if this, if anything is a joke, that means you don't have to take it seriously.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And that is so weird. It's like, but this is sad now because we know that you wanted this thing. But especially when it's pregnancy and starting a family and it's a woman who's in her mid-30s, it's frankly sad to me. It's sad for her. It's sad that they're so delusional, but I've lost all empathy at this point. Yeah. It was crazy.
SPEAKER_00Sayanara to those two. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think you're right though, that it's the antics just they're gonna keep happening. They're gonna keep happening, and we need to ignore it. Well, and they're probably bummed because they were the center of so much, and now they're not getting this attention. They're not getting the amount of whatever, you know.
SPEAKER_00Just think of how money, how many, how much money they've lost out on. Brand deals. So much money.
SPEAKER_01Opportunities Amanda was their reputation is deplor it's in the toilet.
SPEAKER_00She was a full-time cast member on Summer House since season two. So I imagine that that check that she was cashing for each season was quite a pretty penny, and now that's gone. Brand deals gone. Who knows what happened to that swimsuit line of hers. Yeah. Snatched from the internet. So yeah, they I had hope.
SPEAKER_01I thought there was some cute stuff in that swimsuit line. I was ready for it. I think she has such talent in her design skills, but I mean, your reputation is not even reputation in relation to how it is with other people. It's like your reputation with yourself, how you carry yourself in this world, how you walk the earth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And just this behavior is it's so I and it's weird because you think they'd want to sink back into it's almost behavior of people that just want to blow up their life and then fall into nothingness. But they're they keep baiting people. It's they're very sinister, actually.
SPEAKER_00They need to take a piece of advice from Rachel and go be a sound bath instructor instructor.
SPEAKER_01Living up, but that's actually what would make them not sociopaths at this point because that makes sense. That that's what I was thinking. I was like, okay, if they kind of fade back and they have a quiet life together and maybe they're miserable, but that's just what can happen, and maybe they were tired of the fame and whatever, and that's fine. But this is so gross to me.
SPEAKER_00Gross. Well, but we had a lot of thoughts today, and I don't think that's gonna be a good thing. I think it's gonna be a two-parter. Yeah, okay. We're just gonna go into the expectation. Oh my gosh. But we
THAT'S MY OPINION: Expensive things worth the money!
SPEAKER_00did want to end on a positive. Yeah, we need a palette cleanser. A lighter note. I'm out of my 10 p.m. energy drink, so we need a palette cleanser. Palette cleanser. I'm sure a lot of you have been seeing the trend on social media. Five expensive things that are worth it. We wanted to give you our opinions on expensive things that we think are worth it as well. Um, I don't think either of us stuck to the limit of five. Um we tried.
SPEAKER_01But we are going to We have good taste. Okay, what can we say? We needed to bestow it upon the people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, so we're gonna present our lists without commentary, but each of us might have some follow-up questions for the other.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I can't wait.
SPEAKER_00I've been excited for this for like days.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we we uh It was my only knowing one trend that's ever existed. I'm like, oh my god, we should do this thing. It's gonna be crazy. I never know the trends, I never know anything. And now I'm like, let's do this thing that has nothing to do with anything.
SPEAKER_00Um it's fun and we and flirty. And we did not tell each other what's on our list. So I I think there's a potential for some crossover, but I think yours is up, so why don't you no no no you I see? Oh, okay. It's physically up. Your bullet point. So you go first. Wait, do you want to go first? No. You have you have yours up. Oh my gosh, he's so excited.
SPEAKER_01Why am I nervous? But why am I nervous? Okay, these are in order. I was gonna say in no particular order. Bitch, they're in order, okay?
SPEAKER_00Um that's the Virgo for you. Everything's in order. Okay? Yeah, I see your bullet points up there, so why don't you just give them to me?
SPEAKER_01Ready? Yes, Botox, nails, streaming services, and all of them, two times a month house cleaners, Dyson Airwrap, Aritzia Superpuff jacket, special mention, good toilet paper.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Great list. None of those were on my list. Okay, what are yours? I did like the streaming services, all of them. Because, yes. How many was that? Seven. Oh, okay. I think I said I had eight. We're just not like other girls, you know. We don't have to. I have eight. Okay.
SPEAKER_01All right. Well, eight is great.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Global entry and clear combo, the K18 dry shampoo, getting status with a single airline, and not simply trying to find the cheapest airline ticket. The premium flickering flameless candles from pottery barn, a nod pod. If you don't know what it is, what she said. If you don't know what a nod pod is, look it up. Solid gold jewelry from a local jeweler, the coupe pillow, and therapy.
SPEAKER_01I don't know what half these things are.
SPEAKER_00Oh, do you have questions? I can explain.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I agree. I am a proud Alaska Airlines status member. Same with John. He gets it through his work, and that what was what got us hooked. So I'm totally there with you with the status. It is absolutely worth it. Worth it every single time.
SPEAKER_00Free upgrades, free bags, lounge access.
SPEAKER_01And then you get there and you can't. I'm never going back.
SPEAKER_00No. I my status is with Delta.
SPEAKER_01That's a great one.
SPEAKER_00Love you, Delta. Love you. Please sponsor us, maybe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, perfect.
SPEAKER_00You know what obviously the K18 Drash shampoo is.
SPEAKER_01Obviously, that one I know.
SPEAKER_00It's the best. It's $48 a bottle, but truly the best.
SPEAKER_01I don't think of it like that because I get it half off because I have a license. So next time you're buying it, ask me.
SPEAKER_00This is a game changer, everyone. But one bottle like lasts six months.
SPEAKER_01There, it's a it's the best. You need like four spritzes.
SPEAKER_00Yep. An aerosol. Like I would I would be buying multiple bottles of like Batiste a month. Yep. And so it kind of evens out. I don't know. But did you have any other questions about my list about things that you What is the pillow? Coop. Yeah. Um, so it's a brand, it's a pillow that it's definitely like synthetic foam or something in it, but you can you can adjust it to your preferred firmness. So you can take stuffing out, you can put stuffing in to really personalize your head, neck, shoulder support needs.
SPEAKER_01Head, shoulders, knees, and toes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's great. They also have a travel size version. Ooh. My friend Alexa pillow. Shout out, Alex got me hooked on Coop, but yeah, that's what I have on my bed.
SPEAKER_01There was another brand or something on there that I didn't recognize. What was it? Or no?
SPEAKER_00Nod Pod? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That one.
SPEAKER_00This is really the latter half of this list is really reflective of my cancer sign of being a cozy homebody, but a Nod Pod is a weighted sleeping eye mask. Ooh, I've heard of those. I've never tried one. So it's good for sleeping, obviously, because it makes things dark and it's weighted, so it kind of molds to your face, but it's also really good for migraines. Ooh. Just calming and relaxing in general. Um meditating. Yeah. So nod pod, we love.
SPEAKER_01Love. Okay. What was the first one on your list? Will you quickly read your list again? Okay. Yeah. I need to make sure that I have all my commentary.
SPEAKER_00So global entry and clear combination.
SPEAKER_01Can we pause on that? Because I did clear. So I don't have, I'm always so mad at myself that I don't have global entry because I just never I always forget. Okay, let's be real. I had clear for a year and I did not fit the think it was worth it.
SPEAKER_00You didn't?
SPEAKER_01No, I I just felt like at Seattle the line was often the same as pre-check. And then in other airports, it was like sometimes there, sometimes not. So, but I think there's something about like the combo.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the combination at CTAC. If you have the combination where you go in checkpoint six, security checkpoint six, you don't show any form of ID if you have the combination. It scans your face, you just walk through the gate.
SPEAKER_01Because you know what it was is clear at CTAC, it still made me put my ID in and stuff. Like I'm the whole point is that I'm not doing this. So I just and it was kind of early on when they first launched, and I I just feel like there was a lot of cute and it wasn't worth it. So I might revisit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, and then the other thing was the premium flickering flameless candles from Pottery Barn.
SPEAKER_01I think we saw those at your house. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to my dad. He got them for me for Christmas work. And the he didn't know what he was buying when he bought those. I'm sure I'm sure he was influenced by someone who's to say who it was, but they weren't on my list. Yeah. I just got them and they're great. They are our pillar candles. Mine are happen to be an ivory color, but they have a few different varieties. They are battery powered. I have them in nice hurricane glass vases. Um, and and the flame like flickers. If so, if you're not this close looking right at it, it looks great. It looks like an actual candle that's lit, but it's not a vibe. It's so nice and cozy and great creates an excellent ambiance, if I do say so myself.
SPEAKER_01Love it. Yeah. I might have to um investigate in toddler friendly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, great, I would imagine, for people that have little ones, yeah, pets.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you won't get hurt.
SPEAKER_01You won't regret it. Yeah. Do you have any questions about mine, or was it so self-explanatory and amazing that you just have no um Botox?
SPEAKER_00Yes. I will say, the first time I went to go with Botox ever, we both go to Skin Spirit, I think. Yes. The thing that the injector said to me was, You've never had anything injected in your face before? I said, No, this is my first time. She goes, Wow, that's incredible. Because she was commenting on how smooth my skin was and the facial structure that I naturally possess.
SPEAKER_01I mean, that's great.
SPEAKER_00So that was a real confidence boost.
SPEAKER_01Um You're like, I don't even need it, but you know. So for you, Botox isn't up there because you just have natural Botox. So you're like, I don't even need Botox.
SPEAKER_00No, I do, I get it in my I do a lip flip. Oh I've never done the lip flip. Yeah, I do a lip flip because naturally I would have like a really gummy smile. So it it makes a gummy smile. It's the lip flip that's been doing that. That's why you don't know. I have a gummy smile because my lip doesn't go as far up as it would otherwise. And it also does kind of flip my lip up a little bit. That's nice. Um, so I've never ventured into lip filler, but who's to say? I might.
SPEAKER_01Who's to say? I mean, you do what works. It's working for you.
SPEAKER_00But I I do like Botox. I do get it once a year, but it obviously wears off before then. So I appreciate that on your list. And premium toilet paper is an unsung hero.
SPEAKER_01It is an unsung hero. And I also think it's something that is doable when you are on a budget.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's a it's a doable life upgrade that you interact with often that feels good, that's not a high lift item.
SPEAKER_00And the cleaning service. That is something that I've thought about.
SPEAKER_01It's amazing.
SPEAKER_00But I've never actually gone through it.
SPEAKER_01The problem is once you do it, you will not go back.
SPEAKER_00That's what I've been worried about.
SPEAKER_01But you know what I think? I thought about this before because we're moving, and I'm like, okay, maybe I'm wondering, oh, does the cleaning service like move with us or whatever? I'm thinking once a month would be fine. Yeah. I think once a month, have someone come in and just it's all the corners. That's what I love. It's the little corners. So this room, for example, we don't go in this room a lot, but I know that if I come in this room or someone comes in, it's not going to be dusty, crusty everywhere.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. The baseboards, baseboards, all those little things. It's all the little nooks and crannies that suck to clean, but once you do it, you're like, wow, why does my room feel so much cleaner? Yes. And it's because the specks of dust in the corners are gone.
SPEAKER_01Yes. And it holds you accountable in a way because you know the cleaner's coming and they can't do as good of a job if it's just like a frickin' mess in there. So it makes it so your house has to have some kind of I think you're talking me into this. I'm just saying, I think it's so worth the money.
SPEAKER_00You heard it here, folks. Yep. Right. I don't have anything else on my agenda.
SPEAKER_01Don't you want to ask me about the Aritzia Superpuff jackets? Oh, yes. I know you're really um worried.
SPEAKER_00The Aritzia Super Puff jackets. Tell me more.
SPEAKER_01I was excited to talk about these. Okay.
SPEAKER_00So sorry.
SPEAKER_01How dare you give me, take away my opportunity. The floor is. Do you know the jacket I speak of?
SPEAKER_00I'm assuming it's just the black puffer jacket that all the girlies have. Yes. The one that's really long or not.
SPEAKER_01I have the mid. Okay. The really long's aggressive for Seattle because it's not cold enough. Yeah. Where you're from, that would be perfect. I have the cropped one. That's like it's not a super high crop. And then I have the mid one. I want to say, I should have said this in the beginning. I am kind of a cheap bitch in a lot of ways, in that I hate spending money on things that I don't see the value, like I don't get the value back. And I am like thrift, I am a clearance. I find the deal. I shop on like holidays. I'm very into that kind of thing. So for me to spend full price on two $350 jackets is insane for me. That means they're freaking amazing. Okay. They are just the ones. Are they down? Down. And the thing about it, I was nervous in Seattle because it rains so much that it would just get like gross and not be waterproof. Totally fine. Even though it's not technically waterproof.
SPEAKER_00But enough for like that it's totally fine.
SPEAKER_01And I've never had a problem. And I've the first one that I had, the cropped one, I've had since 2020. And it's looks perfect.
SPEAKER_00Cost per wear is going down.
SPEAKER_01Cost per wear. And it and there's I wear it all the time. So I just want to shout out. Shout out, Aritzia. On this what time is it? 11 15 p.m. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_00We're partying. You can't say we aren't dedicated. And with that, is there anything else that I forgot to ask you about? Yeah, one minute. All right. We we've aired out a lot. Yes. Maybe this is a two part episode. Maybe we'll see.
SPEAKER_01Where the where the wind blows. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00See you next week. Yep. Because it's always a good time to air it out.
SPEAKER_01We'll get that. We'll get it. You know? It's gonna be great.
