Welcome to Grim Stories.
Created in response to requests from listeners of The Evident Conspiracy Files, this atmospheric fiction podcast brings together our love of mysteries, folklore, history and traditional storytelling — guided by a familiar voice from the ECF universe.
Each episode opens another page of Grim’s ancient book, revealing a self-contained gothic tale of conspiracies, murder, missing people, restless spirits and things that should have remained buried.
All Grim Stories are original ECF Studios productions. Although the characters and events are fictional, many stories are inspired by real places, historical events, local myths and enduring British legends. Forgotten villages, drowned cities, abandoned railways and ancient landscapes become the foundations for something darker — stories in which history and imagination are woven so closely together that it may not always be clear where one ends and the other begins.
Every tale can be enjoyed on its own, but those listening carefully may begin to notice connections between them: recurring symbols, forgotten names, buried bells and clues suggesting that Grim may be telling more than a collection of unrelated stories.
Perhaps the tales are not simply being written.
Perhaps they are being remembered.
With cinematic sound design, immersive narration and an expanding mythology hidden beneath each episode, Grim Stories is best experienced in the dark — and through headphones.
Just be careful not to become tangled in the cord should you fall asleep.

Episode One: The Bell Beneath Blackmere

There are villages that appear on every map. Villages that appear only on the oldest maps. And then there are places that do not wish to be found at all.
When archivist Elias Vale receives a letter written by the mother who vanished from his life decades earlier, it leads him north to Blackmere — an isolated village hidden beyond the marshes, where strangers are questioned about their names, doors are bolted before nightfall, and the ruins of a burned chapel watch silently from the hill.
Blackmere has no bell tower.
But every night, something beneath the village tolls.
The people of Blackmere have lived for generations under an ancient covenant. In return for protection. But protection is not free!
Elias soon discovers that his mother was born in Blackmere — and that she escaped.
Now the debt has passed.
But the bell is not the thing beneath Blackmere.
