Hva synes tenåringene om shabbat og hva er det som gjør det så viktig med jødiske venner fra Norden?
How was your Shabbat?
SPEAKER_04My Shabbat was uh very, very nice. Um it's always nice on Shabbat because you get to do a lot of uh things that you don't do like in your everyday. Uh for example that we don't get the the phones. Um it's actually nice because then you spend more time together and do like things that you won't like necessarily do if you didn't have Shabbat. Um and we went to like uh Tuul, um so that was very nice to see like the beautiful uh mountains and trees in Switzerland.
SPEAKER_03How was the food on Shabbat? Was it better than the food Yugi here?
SPEAKER_04Yes, I think the food on Shabbat uh was a lot better because we got uh a lot of different uh things to choose from. Um and yeah, you could taste that uh I spent a lot of time making the food.
SPEAKER_03So you are one of the you are in the oldest age group and you have something called Gihanite.
SPEAKER_04Can you tell us about that? Yes. So um the past uh two years I think uh the leaders have tried to make like a special uh night for the oldest kids uh where they go out and sleep like in the tent. Um so uh we we drove two hours actually from the camp um to a camping place and then we set up a tent um and then we made food um and then it started raining and uh thundering so we had to sleep inside the car. Um so that was uh that was very interesting, but also uh very funny. Uh yeah, and then when when we woke up uh the weather was much better.
SPEAKER_03How much sleep did you get in the car? Camp is almost over. Um What will you say to those who are considering to come to camp next year?
SPEAKER_04Um I would uh definitely recommend it because it's so fun and uh you get a l lot of new uh experiences and uh friends um and everything that you do is like either interesting or like funny, so I would uh 100% uh recommend it.
SPEAKER_03Why is having Jewish friends in other Scandinavian countries so important?
SPEAKER_04Um it's very important because you get to like um talk to people that come from other countries, um, and that makes you also like uh understand how how people maybe in Norway practice uh Judaism like differently from uh the people in Denmark. Um and it also gives you like a lot of new connections um to like if you want to go to Norway then now I know a lot of people there, so like it's more easy for me and like it's just nice always to know someone like in different places and especially when uh we like come from the same uh background so you also feel like more connected!
SPEAKER_03Hi, welcome to Teens Campcast. Uh who are you?
SPEAKER_01My name is Simon. I come from Denmark, Copenhagen.
SPEAKER_03How was your Shabbat?
SPEAKER_01It was a very amazing Shabbat. Like there was such a good vibe and like everything was good.
SPEAKER_03What makes a good camp shabbat?
SPEAKER_01I think what makes a good camp shabbat is when everyone is in the Shabbat mood and like everyone has that vibe when we pray. Uh like especially after we sing Mishmo Ladavit, we go out and then we all jump and uh sing a lot of uh songs. It's very special.
SPEAKER_03What did you think about the food?
SPEAKER_01The food. Um I was a bit uh skeptical in the start, but um I think the food uh has been very good.
SPEAKER_03Camp is almost over. What is one thing you remember from this camp?
SPEAKER_01I will remember a lot of uh things, but uh the thing I will remember the most is maybe uh when I sang a bit of the Musaf, because I haven't done it before and it was a very uh special experience.
SPEAKER_03What will you tell people who are considering to camp coming to camp next year?
SPEAKER_01I would say um just go have fun. Don't don't think about it too much. You're gonna make friends. There's a lot of the different people, there's space for everyone. Like it's a good place.
SPEAKER_03Why is it so important to have Jewish friends from different countries?
SPEAKER_01Then I think it's uh important because like if you wanna like let's say you and your friends from the same country travels to another Nordic country, and if you know someone in that country, uh you can maybe celebrate Shabbat with them or celebrate another holiday. So I think that's that's one of the reasons, but also just to have connections all around the like Scandinavian.
SPEAKER_00Hej, jag benjamin, och jag är för 5 norr, och jag är för oslo norge. Och jag är barn på den här länge. Jag syns chapat så vi fade nu. Det var väldigt heglig. Och du var väldigt komat. Och det var nog finodier. På date night så gick jag bara menan som vänner jag. Men det var väldigt skyglig att det vickade var ganska romantisk att jag på Melys och sånt.
SPEAKER_03Nej, här snabbt idag är det en att jag kommer att huska extra gott.
SPEAKER_00Det jag kommer hus på extra gott det är där vi var upp i Källe, ett jag kan. Och så körde vi det i cyklenne. I full fart, det var det bästa.
SPEAKER_03Det är som tänker att komma till nästa år. Vad vill du se till den som gör att det är faktiskt kommer.
SPEAKER_00Alltså vist i i kommer så kommer dit lago att glippa väljumor. Och vistig kommer. Så kommer du att ha väldigt minor. Och får drar på många olika upplevelse. Värgikerat annat flottland. Och bara ha då väldigt flott så är det andra beföra.
SPEAKER_03Vad får är det viktigt att ha ödiska vänner från andra stöder än där du börjar.
SPEAKER_00Det syns jag är väldigt viktig som att man alltid har gödig tillkälling runt omkring i världen, så vis jag är i isra eller i London, jag är i Norgan, så kan jag alltid möta någon andra som jag har mött på LIR som är där och möta på det eller både i och sånt.
SPEAKER_05Jag got to meet a lot of new people and also people from last year, and we had so much fun together doing uh a lot of activities and hiking.
SPEAKER_03Who are you?
SPEAKER_05I'm Leo. I'm from Denmark, and this is my third year in this camp.
SPEAKER_03How was Shabbat?
SPEAKER_05It was very nice. We uh dressed up and uh took pictures before Shabbat and then we uh got together and sang and uh did a Kabbalah Shabbat and it ate a lot of good food and I really enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_03Did you think the food was better on Shabbat than on the other days? Um yes, I think it was very nice. But your Did you go to date night or Gihan night?
SPEAKER_05I went to Gihan Knight because it's my last year. Um so we went uh uh we drove for two hours uh to get to a camping spot uh by a lake, a very beautiful lake. Um and then we uh started to set up the tents. Um but we then after we have ate like a very good uh meal we uh saw that it began it began to like rain and uh thunder uh so we had to uh stay in the car and uh we ended up uh sleeping in the car as well, so the tents were not for so much use, they ended up very wet, but um it was so nice and uh cozy in the car. Um and we also said the leaders had made us a book where we could write um like questions uh they had wrote us questions of reflection and then we um answered them individually and just listened to the rain and ate snacks and uh it was uh a nice experience.
SPEAKER_03How much sleep did you get?
SPEAKER_05Not a lot. We um I think maybe combined uh three hours or maybe um maybe four, but it was uh hard uh sitting up uh all night sleeping, but uh I think Nikolai slept very well.
SPEAKER_03Do you know what gika is?
SPEAKER_05I think I heard that it means like sleeping under open uh sky and uh you go and do some camping and um uh yeah it's a Hebrew word uh I think, but uh I didn't know it either before I went.
SPEAKER_03Now camp is almost over. What would you say to those who are considering coming next year?
SPEAKER_05I would say that it is an amazing experience, and you get to meet a lot of new friends from all the Nordic countries and also learn about Judaism and what it means to be a Jew in the like a community, and um that there is also a lot of fun like uh activities and uh day trips. Uh like today we went to Bern and it was like amazing and we got to swim and uh learn about the Jewish history of the city and uh yeah we had a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_03Why is it so important to have Jewish friends from other Nordic countries?
SPEAKER_05It's very important because you get to uh meet people who um are like you are alike with these people, you rem um you uh connect on a different level than you do with uh normal kids. Here we all have like the same uh background, we come from Jewish households. Uh even if you are not that religious, you still relate to these people and you don't have to hide your identity like you may feel with when you are with uh non-Jews. So um it's uh a very important uh part of like being a Jew to have Jewish friends.
