Hey everyone, it's Tilly. Welcome to our very first midweek pit stop. We are right in the middle of our seven-day awareness audit, so I just wanted to check in. How is your tracker looking? If your wants column is filling up faster than you expected because of grabbing snacks or tapping your card for little things, don't panic. You aren't failing. The whole point of this week is just to open our eyes and see where the money is actually going. I was thinking a lot about the verse my dad shared with me on Monday. Proverbs 2723. Know well the condition of your flocks and give attention to your herds. Since Sam is usually the one who loves digging into the history of things, I decided to download a Bible Concordance app to look up the original Hebrew words myself. And I found something that completely blew my mind. The second half of that verse says, give attention. But in the original ancient Hebrew, the phrase used there is sheeth lev. S-H-I-T-H-L-E-V. Lev is the Hebrew word for heart. So the literal translation isn't just look at your sheep, it means to set your heart upon them. That changes everything for me. Tracking our money isn't just about doing boring math on a spreadsheet so we don't get a $35 overdraft fee. It is actually a heart issue. Jesus said in the New Testament that wherever your treasure is, that is exactly where your heart will be too. When we tap our phones or swipe our debit cards without paying attention, we aren't just losing track of our cash. We are letting our hearts wander. The wolf isn't just a bank fee stealing our money, it's a distraction stealing our heart's focus. So this week, as you write down every single thing you buy on that piece of paper, remember that you are practicing setting your heart in the right place. Let's pray. God, thank you for trusting us to manage the things you give us. We admit that it is so easy to get distracted by shiny things and digital screens. As we track our spending this week, show us where our treasure is going. Help us to set our hearts on you and teach us how to be wise managers of what we have. In Jesus' name, amen.
