Hey everyone, it's Tilly. Welcome to the Midweek Pit Stop. I hope you've had a chance to do your stewardship inventory and lock it away in your new binder, the cipher. Taking care of your room and organizing your tools is actually step one of being a great manager. On Monday, Sam and I talked about the concept of being a steward of God's blessings. In the original Greek language of the Bible, the word for steward literally translates to the manager of a household. Oikonomos, oikonomos, o-i-k-o-n-o-m-o-s. I hope I did not butcher that. It's someone who doesn't own the house, but is completely trusted by the owner to run it and take care of it. There is another verse about this in 1 Corinthians chapter 4, verse 2. It says, Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful. God has put us in charge of many things. He gave you your time, your abilities, your allowance, and your stuff. He isn't asking you to be perfect with it, and he isn't asking you to be a millionaire by the time you're 15. He is just asking you to be faithful with whatever you have right now. Sam and I asked you to meditate on that idea this week. But what does meditating actually look like? A lot of times we picture someone sitting cross-legged on the floor trying to completely empty their mind. But biblical meditation is the exact opposite. You don't empty your mind, you fill your mind. You read the verse, you picture it in your head, you whisper it out loud to yourself, and you chew on it. The goal isn't just to memorize a sentence so you can pass a test. The goal is to let God's truth literally rewire the way you think. It transforms your inner self so that your brain is operating on God's wiring instead of the world's wiring. So today, don't empty your mind. Fill it with the truth that you are God's trusted manager and practice being faithful with the small things. Let's pray. God, thank you for trusting us. It is so cool that you invite us to manage your blessings. When we get stressed out about our stuff, remind us that you are the owner. Help us to practice biblical meditation today, filling our minds with your truth so we are rewired to think like you. Help us to be faithful managers of whatever you put in our hands.
