Good morning, everyone. I am Dark Desert Highway, and today we're gonna read the Bible because that's what this channel is about. I got my Red Bull coming to you from Denver, Colorado, and my truck won't start. So I might as well do a Bible study. Today I wanted to start in Proverbs chapter two, and we're just gonna read. So let's jump right into the word. Proverbs chapter two. Let me get this thing on the down arrow. My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, listening close to wisdom and directing your heart to understand. Furthermore, if you call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it like hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and discover the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up success for the upright, he is a shield for those who live with integrity, so that he may guard the paths of justice and protect the way of his faithful followers. Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and integrity, every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart and knowledge will delight you. Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you. It will rescue you from the evil way, from anyone who says perverse things, from those who abandon the right paths to walk in ways of darkness. For those who enjoy doing evil, a celebrated perversion, whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious, it will rescue you from a forbidden woman, from a wayward woman with her flattering talk, who abandons the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God, for her house sinks down to death, and her ways to the land of the departed spirits. None return who go to her, none reach the paths of life. So follow the way of good, and keep to the paths of the righteous, for the upright will inhabit the land, and those of integrity will remain in it, but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous ripped out of it. So call out to insight. Direct your heart to understand, call out to insight, lift your voice to understanding, seek it like silver, search for it like hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord. So there's definitely something that we need to take a part of in this process. We need to listen closely to wisdom, direct our heart, call out, lift our voice, seek it, search for it, and then in five, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God. So I've been talking about spiritual principles lately, and one thing that you see in the Bible is a way of speaking that says, if you then you, so let's look at this. In verse 4, if you seek it like silver, verse 5, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God. So these are spiritual principles that are at work in the word that say that we have a portion to meet. And once we meet our portion, God will make sure that the then you, then you will, if you will, then you will. So listen closely, direct your heart, lift your voice. If you seek it, then you will understand. For the Lord gives wisdom, from his mouth come knowledge and understanding, he stores up success for the upright, he's a shield for those who live with integrity, so that he may guard the paths of justice, to protect the way of his faithful followers. Then you will understand righteousness, justice, integrity, and every good path. Wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight you. Discretion will watch over you and understand, understanding will guard your way. It will rescue you from the evil, from anyone who says perverse things. And this goes to speak of discernment. So in number nine, we will understand righteousness, justice, integrity, and every good path. We will easily be able to identify what is righteous, what is justice, what is integrity, and where the good path is. And then by using this line, by using the markers, we're able to identify where things set in the world. You know, if you know what's good, by contrast, you know what's evil. This is a good, this is good, and then when something else comes in the way, you're able to say, Well, I know that this is good and right and just and true, but what is this? And by observing the character, the item, the object, the person, you're able to use discernment to decide if this is a good way. Is this what I know of righteousness? Is this what I know of justice and integrity? Is this a good path? And it's the Lord's word that becomes the plumb line. Remember, I was talking about in an earlier Bible study, a plumb line is a line that a carpenter or a mason hangs, and at the end of this line, it's a string, at the end of this string, there's a weight, and the weight um hangs true and straight. And then using that line, uh, once the weight has stopped to move, uh, you're able to judge what is crooked or what is straight. So we need to spend our time investing in reading the word of the Lord so that we know what is straight. Um and if we seek it, search for it, lift our voice to understanding, call out, direct our heart, listen closely, store up his commands, we will have discernment, we will be able to understand righteousness, justice, integrity, and every good path, because his paths are the good paths. He sets the line. And another thing is our relationship is based on his terms, he sets the rules of engagement, he says this is good, this is evil, and choose the good. Even if the law says that it is okay, it may not be according to God's law. Excuse me while I ride the bull. Okay, let's let's continue to go to go down. And what will it do? It will rescue you from the evil way in twelve. In eleven, discretion will watch over you, so we have to be discreet. Understanding will guard you, it will rescue you from the evil way, from anyone who says perverse things, from those who abandon the right paths to walk in ways of darkness, from those who enjoy doing evil, a celebrated perversion, whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious. It will rescue you from a forbidden woman. So, what it is doing is it is marking out the boundaries so that we can clearly see that on this side of the fence this is good and righteous and just and true. Then in contrast, right? In contrast, we're able to see what is not right, what is not just, and what is not true. Because like wisdom calls out, so does foolishness. Wisdom calls out and so does folly. Let's um let's look at that. I'm gonna have to go to the Google machine. And we are going to search wisdom calls out. Oh no, I'm not hooked up to the interwebs. Excuse me while I hook myself up to the internet here. I apologize that I was not Johnny on the spot. Let's see if I can find it right here. In verse eight, let's go back to let's look at eight. One, doesn't wisdom call out? Doesn't understanding make her voice heard? At the heights overlooking the road, at the crossroads, she takes her stand besides the gates leading into the city, at the main entrance she cries out. People I call out to you, my cry is to the children of Adam. What you'll notice in chapter nine is that in contrast to wisdom, folly also spends her day calling out. So wisdom in nine uh Proverbs nine verse one, wisdom has built her house, she has carved out her seven pillars, she has prepared her meat, she has mixed her wine, she has also set her table, she has sent out her female servants, she calls out from the highest points of the city, whoever is inexperienced, enter here. To the one who lacks sense, she says, Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave inexperience behind and you will live. Pursue the way of understanding. The one who corrects a mocker will bring abuse on himself. The one who rebukes the wicked will get hurt. Don't rebuke a mocker or he will hate you. Rebuke the wise, and he will love you. Instruct the wise, and he will be wiser still. Teach the righteous and he will learn more. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. If you are wise, you are wise for your own benefit. If you mock, you alone will bear the consequences. Okay, so this is wisdom's conversation daily, each day, and you'll notice that wisdom is prepared. So you'll see that wisdom has built her house, she's carved out her seven pillars, she's prepared her meat, she's mixed her wine, she's set her table, she's got her female servants out doing stuff, and then she calls from the highest points of the city. So wisdom is prepared. Without our involvement or interaction or anything like that, we come to wisdom, and wisdom is in a prepared state. She's already built her house, she has prepared her meat, mixed her wine, set her table, she's got her servants. So there's nothing that wisdom needs. Wisdom already possesses everything that you need. You need wisdom, and she calls out, um, right here from the highest points of the city, for whoever is inexperienced, enter here. To the one who lacks sense, she says, Come and eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave an experience behind, and you will live. Pursue the way of understanding. So you'll notice if we continue, there's another woman. Another woman is calling out, and her name is Folly in thirteen. Folly is a rowdy woman. She is gullible and knows nothing. She sits by the doorway of her house on a seat at the highest point of the city, calling to those who pass by, who go straight ahead on their paths. Whoever is inexperienced enter here. To the one who lacks sense she says stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is tasty. But he doesn't know that the departed spirits are there, that her guests are in the depth of Sheol. So folly is saying whoever is inexperienced enter here, and wisdom is also saying, Whoever is inexperienced, enter here in verse four. So each day there are multiple voices with a portion of the same message. Whoever is inexperienced, enter here. But the body of their message, their introduction is the same, but the body of their message is different. So remember, this is where the devil likes to play um his hand, and he likes to mirror the truth, a portion of the truth, because it speaks to the same spiritual portion of who you are. We are there's a spiritual cavity in our lives, and it longs to be filled, and we go searching for the truth, and you know there's people who look for they're looking for something, they don't exactly know what they're looking for, but they're putting out themselves in order to search out, and that's that searching part. But you have to be careful about what you come in contact with because a portion of the spiritual fulfillment that we get from investing ourselves into a life path, a path of life. Um a portion of that might have some truth in it, but later on, like in with folly, you'll see where it goes way off course. So Folly is a rowdy woman. She's gullible and knows nothing. She sits by the doorway of her house on a seat at the highest point of the city, calling to those who pass by who go straight ahead on their paths. Whoever is inexperienced, enter here. The same message that wisdom is exclaiming. To the one who lacked sense, she says, and this is where the twist comes in stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is tasty. You'll see a lot of people say they have the truth. Well, this is where we have to invest ourselves in the word, in the word, so that we can identify what is truth. Because many a voice has a portion of the same message. Whoever is inexperienced, enter here to the one who lacks sense. It's the same, it's the same message, it's a portion of the same message, but the body of the conversation is different. So we need to invest ourselves into the word so that we can identify by listening to what they have to say. I can say wisdom is here, or I can say this is foolishness. So let's go back. We're gonna start in chapter three. But let your hearts keep my commands, for they will bring you many days, a full life, and well being. Never let loyalty and faithfulness leave you. Tie them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and high regard with God and people. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways know him. He will make your path straight. Don't be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. This will be healing for your body and strengthening for your bones. Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first produce of your entire harvest. Then your barns will be completely filled, all your vats will overflow with new wine. Do not despise Despise the Lord's instruction, my son, and do not loathe his discipline, for the Lord disciplines the one he loves, just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights. Happy is a man who finds wisdom, and who acquires understanding, for she is more profitable than silver, and her revenue is better than gold, she is more precious than jewels, nothing you can desire can equal her. Long life is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant, all her paths peaceful. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her, to those who hold on to her, those who hold on to her are happy. The Lord founded the earth by wisdom, and established the heavens by understanding. By his knowledge the watery depths broke open, and the clouds dripped with dew. Maintain sound wisdom and discretion, my son. Don't lose sight of them. They will be a life for you, an adornment for your neck. Then you will go safely on your way, your foot will not stumble, when you lie down you will not be afraid. You will lie down, and your sleep will be pleasant. Don't fear sudden danger or the ruin of the wicked when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence, and keep your foot from a snare. When it is in your power, don't withhold good from the one to whom it belongs. Don't say to your neighbor, go away, come back later, I'll give it to you tomorrow, when it is there with you. Don't plan any harm against your neighbor, for he trusts you and lives near you. Don't accuse any one without cause, when he has done you no harm. Don't envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, for the devious are detestable to the Lord, but he is a friend to the upright. The Lord's curse is on the household of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. He mocks those who mock, but gives grace to the humble. The wise will inherit honor, but he holds up fools to dishonor. So this is like what can you expect from wisdom? Alright, so I understand what wisdom is. Wisdom is a possession of the Lord. The Lord possesses wisdom, he's possessed it from the beginning, according to one of our earlier studies. So what does wisdom hold for me? Wisdom keeps me from the path of the wicked, helps me identify what is righteous, just, good, and true. So now I'm able to identify the person, the situation, the group, the message. I'm able to listen and discern what is right or what is out of the way. And in if I follow the path of wisdom, what can I expect? What can I expect from wisdom? thirteen. Happy is the man who finds wisdom and who acquires understanding. She's more profitable than silver, her revenue is better than gold, she's more precious than jewels, nothing you desire can equal her. I can expect long life, riches and honor, pleasant paths of peace, um life. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her, and all those who hold on to her are happy. And you can see in nineteen the application of wisdom, the Lord founded the earth by wisdom, and established the heavens by understanding. So look at this great demonstration of what can be accomplished with wisdom. The Lord founded the earth by wisdom, established the heavens by understanding. By his knowledge the watery depths broke open, and the clouds dripped with dew. So the application of wisdom in the Lord's hands, you can see the greatness of it. I mean the world and the beauty of it and every animal and plant type and I mean it's a pretty great demonstration of what is wisdom is capable of Let's continue. In chapter four, listen, sons to a father's discipline, and pay attention so that you may gain understanding, for I am giving you good instruction. Don't abandon my teaching. When I was a son with my father, tender and precious to my mother, he taught me and said, Your heart must hold on to my words, keep my commandments and live. Get wisdom, get understanding. Don't forget or turn away from the words of my mouth. Don't abandon wisdom, and she will watch over you. Love her, and she will guard you. Wisdom is supreme. So get wisdom. And whatever else you get, get understanding. Cherish her and she will exalt you. If you embrace her, she will honor you. She will place a garland of favor on your head. She will give you a crown of beauty. Listen, my son, accept my words, and you will live many years. I am teaching you the way of wisdom. I am guiding you on straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered. When you run, you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction. Don't let it go. Guard it, for it is your life. Keep off the path of the wicked. Don't proceed on the way of evil ones. Avoid it, don't travel on it, turn away from it, and pass it by. For they can't sleep unless they have done what is evil. They are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble. They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. The pass of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until midday, but the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom. They don't know what makes them stumble. My son, pay attention to my words, listen closely to my sayings, don't lose sight of them, keep them within your heart, for they are life to those who find them, and health to one's whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life. Don't let your mouth speak dishonesty, and don't let your lips talk deviously. Let your eyes look forward, fix your gaze straight ahead. Carefully consider the paths of your feet, and all your ways will be established. Don't turn to the right or left. Keep your feet away from evil. So as far as our introduction to wisdom, we know that wisdom gives discernment. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The fear of the Lord is understanding. Wisdom belongs to the Lord either as a possession or in his entire being. Wisdom, I believe, is inseparable from the Lord. He is wisdom, he is the light, he is the life, and wisdom will give us discernment. The discernment can be found in the word of the Lord. So by knowing and being familiar with the word of the Lord, we can now identify all the crooked paths. And that's important for when we go out to walk in the way. We want look in four. Carefully consider the path for your feet, and all your ways will be established. Don't turn to the right or to the left. Keep your feet from evil. So we have to judge. Not necessarily a person, but a path. And by using what we understand to be true from the word of the Lord, we are able to identify what is straight and what is crooked. And it is important that we continue to do this because every day wisdom and folly are calling out. Every day there's something. Something is paying attention to you and saying as you pass by, come in here. Right.
