Hey guys, I am Dark Desert Highway, and today we're going to talk about the salvation, our salvation, that's hidden in heaven with Christ. Let's look at first Peter chapter one, three through twenty-five. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, because of his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, you are being guarded by God's power, through faith force for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. You rejoice in this, even though now for a short time, if necessary, you suffer grief in various trials, so that the proven character of your faith, more valuable than gold, which, though perishable, is refined by fire, may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Though you have not seen him, you love him, and though not seeing him now you believe in him, and you rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy, because you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Concerning the salvation, the prophets, who prophesied about the grace that would come to you, searched and carefully investigated, they inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified in advance to the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you. These things have now been announced to you through those who preach the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit, sent from heaven. Angels longed to catch a glimpse of these things. Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be sober minded, and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance, but as the one who called you is holy, you are also to be holy in all your conduct, for it is written, be holy because I am holy. If you appeal to the Father, who judges impartially, according to each one's work, you are to conduct yourselves in reverence during your time living as strangers, for you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life, inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ. Like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb, he was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for you. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God, since you have purified yourselves by the obedience to the truth, so that you show sincere brotherly love for one another, from a pure heart, love one another constantly, because you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like a flower of the grass. The grass withers, the flower falls, but the word of the Lord endures forever, and this word is the gospel that was proclaimed to you. Let's look at first Peter chapter two nine through twelve. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of the darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people. You have not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and exiles to abstain from sinful desires that wage war against the soul. Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that when they slander you as evildoers, they will observe your good works and will glorify God on the day he visits. Pretty simple, straightforward scripture we're just going to read today first Peter two, twenty one through twenty five. For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his steps. He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. When he was insulted, he did not insult in return, and when he suffered, he did not threaten, but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that having died to sins we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed, for you were like sheep going astray, but you have now returned to the shepherd, the overseer of your souls. All good stuff, all good scriptures. Now we're going to switch over to wisdom in Proverbs, and we're going to see what God has to say through his word about wisdom. Not the wisdom of the world, but the wisdom of the Lord, by which he set everything in motion. He created the worlds and everything in them. Let's look at Proverbs chapter nine Proverbs chapter nine through six. Wisdom has built her house, she has carved out her seven pillars, she has prepared her meat, she has mixed her wine, she has also set her table. She has sent out her female servants. She calls out from the highest point of the city. Whoever is inexperienced, enter here. To the one who lacks sense she says, Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave inexperience behind, and you will live. Pursue the way of understanding. Proverbs nine, ten through eleven. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. Proverbs two six through fifteen says for the Lord gives wisdom and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up success for the upright, he is a shield for those who live with integrity, so that he may guard the paths of justice and protect the way of his faithful followers. Then you will understand righteousness, justice and integrity, every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight you. Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you. It will rescue you from the evil way, from anyone who says perverse things, and from those who abandon the right paths to walk in the ways of darkness, from those who enjoy doing evil, a celebrated perversion, whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious. Proverbs one twenty through thirty three says wisdom calls out on in the street, she makes her voice heard in the public squares. She cries out above the commotion, she speaks at the entrance of the city gates. How long, inexperienced ones, will you love ignorance? And how long will you mockers enjoy mocking, and you fools hate knowledge? If you respond to my warning, then I will pour out my spirit on you and teach you my words. Since I called out and you refused, extended my hand and no one paid attention, since you neglected all of my counsel and did not accept my correction, I in turn will laugh at your calamity. I will mock when terror strikes you. When terror strikes you like a storm, and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when trouble and stress overcome you, then they will call to me but I won't answer. They will search for me but won't find me, because they hated knowledge and didn't choose to fear the Lord. We're not interested in my counsel and rejected all of my corrections. They will eat the fruit of their own way, and be glutted with their own schemes, for the apostasy of the inexperienced will kill them and the complacency of fools will destroy them, but whoever listens to me will live securely and be undisturbed by the dread of danger. Proverbs chapter three twenty eight. My son, don't forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commands, for they will bring you many days a full life and well being. Never let loyalty and faithfulness leave you. Tie them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and high regard with God and people. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways know him, and he will make your path straight. Don't be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. This will be healing for your body and strengthening for your bones. Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first produce of your entire harvest. Then your barns will be completely filled, and your vats will overflow with new wine. Do not despise the Lord's instruction, my son, and do not loathe his discipline. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, just as a father disciplines the Son, in whom he delights. Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and who acquires understanding, for she is more profitable than silver, and her revenue is better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, nothing you desire can equal her. Long life is in her right hand and in her left riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant, all her paths peaceful, she is a tree of life to those who embrace her, and those who hold on to her are happy. The Lord founded the earth by wisdom, and established the heavens by understanding. By his knowledge the watery depths broke open, and the clouds stripped with dew. Maintain sound wisdom and discretion, my son. Don't lose sight of them, for they will be life for you and adornment for your neck, and then you will go safely on your way, and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid, and your sleep will be pleasant. Don't fear sudden danger or the ruin of wicked when it comes, the ruin of the wicked when it comes. For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from a snare. When it is in your power, don't withhold good from the one to whom it belongs. Don't say to your neighbor, go away, come back later, I'll give it tomorrow when it is there with you. Proverbs chapter four four through twenty seven. And he taught me and he said, Your heart must hold on to my words, keep my commandments and live. Get wisdom, get understanding. Don't forget or turn away from the words of my mouth. Don't abandon wisdom, and she will watch over you. Love her, and she will guard you. Wisdom is supreme, so get wisdom, and whatever else you get, get understanding. Cherish her and she will exalt you. If you embrace her, she will honor you. She will place a garland of favor on your head, and she will give you a crown of beauty. Listen to my words, my son, and you will live many years. I am teaching you the way of wisdom, I am guiding you on a straight path. When you walk your steps will not be hindered, and when you run you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction, don't let it go. Guard it, for it is your life. Keep off the paths of the wicked, don't proceed on the way of evil ones. Avoid it, don't travel on it, turn away from it, and pass it by. For they can't sleep until they have done what is evil, they are robbed of sleep in this unless they make someone stumble. They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until midday. But the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom. They don't know what makes them stumble. My son, pay attention to my words, listen closely to my sayings, don't lose sight of them, keep them within your heart, for they are life to those who find them, and health to one's whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life. Don't let your mouth speak dishonestly, and don't let your lips talk deviously. Let your eyes look forward, fix your gaze straight ahead. Carefully consider the path of your feet, and all your ways will be established. Don't turn to the right hand or to the left. Keep your feet from evil. Says My son, keep your father's command and don't reject your mother's teaching. Always bind them to your heart, tie them around your neck, and when you walk here and there they will guide you, and when you lie down they will watch over you. When you wake up they will talk to you. For a command is a lamp, teaching is a light, and corrective discipline is the way of life. Proverbs eight twenty one Doesn't wisdom call out, and doesn't understand make her voice heard? At the heights overlooking the road, at the crossroads she takes her stand. Besides the gate leading into the city, at the main entrance she cries out. People, I call out to you. My cry is to the children of Adam. Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced. Develop common sense, you who are foolish. Listen, for I speak of noble things, and what my lips say is right, for my mouth tells the truth, and wickedness is detestable to my lips. All the words from my mouth are righteous, none of them are deceptive or perverse. All of them are clear to the perceptive and right to those who discover knowledge. Accept my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold, for wisdom is better than jewels, and nothing desirable can equal it. I wisdom, share a home with shrewdness, and have knowledge and discretion. To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech. I possess good advice and sound wisdom, I have understanding and strength. It is by me that kings reign, and rulers enact just law. By me princes lead, as do nobles and all righteous judges. I love those who love me, and those who search for me find me. With me are riches and honor, lasting wealth and righteousness. My fruit is better than solid gold, my harvest than pure silver. I walk in the ways of righteousness, along the paths of justice, giving wealth as an inheritance to those who love me and filling their treasuries. Let a wise person listen and increase learning, and let a discerning person obtain guidance, for understanding a proverb or parable, the words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Fools despise wisdom and discipline. Listen, my son, to your father's instruction, and don't reject your mother's teaching, for there will be a garland of favor on your head and penance around your neck.
