Hey guys, what's up? I am Dark Desert Highway, and on this channel, on this page, we talk about the Bible. Today I wanted to talk about repentance. Repentance is a willful decision that you're going to make to not do something that you have in the past participated in that you know goes against the direct commandment of God. So this could be many things, and it could be different for everybody. There are a lot of things to choose from in the world, but we shouldn't make any of them our own. The horse would move the cart and the cart would go down the road. And this cart would make the same path every time it went down this road, carving a etch inside the dirt, a divot. And this divot would harden and stay in its place. And every time that cart passed, it would get deeper and deeper in the groove until one day you can't pull out of it. You cannot move the cart from this path because it has fallen back in line with the same route that you have taken for so long. That's what the Hebrew word means for iniquity. That way, um, when you have the idea to go one way or the other, you would fall into a pattern of behavior. And this is what iniquity is in the Bible. It's a pattern of behavior that is so repeated that it carves a groove in the road that the cart falls into when it goes along the path, and you can't pull out of it. So only time, only time heals these things because they're so detrimental to our to our mind. Um you have to just not go down that road. Don't go down that road anymore. You know, you have to take a new path. Fortunately, God has established these paths in actions that we could take in the Bible. He he gives us ways of living. And if we choose life, if we choose his ways of living, and we we divert our the direction of our lives down these paths, the the old paths will cure themselves over time with rain and weather and other things that happen that that fill these divots that we've made in our mind. It fills them back up so there's no longer that that connection to go down that path. Or if you, you know, I that's crazy, huh? It's crazy that the Hebrew word means all that. Um, so what do I have to do? I have to deliberately choose not to go down that path. Because I know that I'll get pulled into the same rut that I've been running the whole entire time, and the outcome will be the same. Um so I have to force myself, I have to deny myself the common things of the world, you know, which are it's not easy. I'm you know, you're you're looking at a very imperfect man, you know. I have my own problems. I go back to things, you know, and then I repent, and then I struggle, and you know, I do good for a while, and then I go back to it, and then I come back and I repent and I plead for the blood of Jesus to cover my sins. Um, so it's it's gonna take time. So I found a a um scripture in the Bible the other day that says, Why do you call out to me? Your wound is incurable because of your many sins. So why do I raise my voice to God to heal me of something that I've practiced for so long that it's created a wound in my mind? It's created a wound that cannot be repaired. Um, but he says, you know what? I am gonna heal you. I am gonna heal you. But you know, we need to come into agreement with God that he's right, that his ways are the ways to live our life, and we need to stay off that path. And it will cure over time, is what I've learned with these habitual, sinful um paths that I take, you know. Um, so if time is the medicine, um and the things I choose to do is is are are the things that God has instructed me to do, then the things that I'm struggling with, um, you know, when I deny those things, um they, you know, you're going to struggle, you're gonna fight with yourself because the flesh wants what the flesh wants. But what I've learned is if I just stubbornly refuse to walk down that road, I stubbornly refuse to go back on that path, that the desire in my heart, that that heartfelt, ooh, I want this thing, it goes away. It passes, it passes, and then you go, Whew, man, that was intense, you know. Um, that was a good one. That was an intense feeling that I had that I wanted this thing in my life, you know, and then you can distract yourself however you want to distract yourself. I like to play games, I like to distract myself by playing video games, you know. Um, but we're looking at we're looking at repentance as a uh deliberate move on my part to not take part of the things that have become sinful to me because of God's law. Now, as Christians, we uphold the law of God, we're not under the law, but the law is good. The law is the right way to live your life. And Jesus demonstrated this way of living while he was on the earth, and we have uh the historical record of his lifestyle so that we can copy it, we can imitate it, and we're not gonna do good all the time. I know, I know, I know, man. You know, I'm not gonna do good all the time. Um, but I have to begin to practice righteousness. I have to practice putting these things into my life by just the decision to not do this, instead do this, and then um I have to retrain my brain, I gotta retrain myself to take a different course. To take a different course is what it is, you know, and um hopefully, you know, uh things get better, you know, and things have gotten better. There are strongholds in my life that have been absolutely just ripped out by the power of the Holy Spirit, by Jesus stepping into my life, you know, they're gone, they're gone. But there's these things that are still in my life, like alcohol and women and pornography and things that I want. I want to take part of these things, but I stubbornly refuse to do so, you know. But because I've practiced these things in the past, they come up again as a desire, as a desire, and that's the thing. It's all the things that we've practiced in our past. But we're a new creation. We have a new direction laid out in the word of God to um discern what is clean and unclean, what is holy and what is not acceptable to God. Some things are fully not acceptable to God, you know, some things are just personal between you and him. You know, if something takes the place of the Lord, that then could become an idol in your life, you know, um, that you serve instead of serving the Lord, you know, and I I I have my problems. I got my problems, you know. I'm not gonna be a perfect person. And nobody can be, nobody can do it. Nobody can be fully holy. You know, uh, we're all gonna make mistakes. It's important to remember that so you don't get too discouraged when you make one. Just get back up. A righteous man falls seven times, but he gets back up. Get back up, get back up and make a better decision next time, right? Practice. Practice saying no to yourself, practice righteousness. Do something on purpose today that is gonna um be an application of God's word in your life. Tell somebody about your faith, share a scripture, um, you know, pray. Um get down on your knees and and put your face to the ground and cry out to God and say, I don't have this right. I I'm I'm unable to do what you've asked me to do, but I am willing to try to practice the principles that I found in your word instead of what I naturally want to do. Because our default setting, our default setting until we're saved is to practice pleasing the flesh. You know, there was nothing to hold us back then, before we knew the Lord. There was there was no other direction that seemed right to us. But as we read our word, we find all these things that God says are good, and so we practice those things. You know, um, break the chains of those who are oppressed, um, free the prisoner from his prison, uh, you know, go out and give up, give somebody food, give somebody uh clothing, give somebody a blanket. You know, there's an interesting scripture where Jesus said that, you know, uh when you did it for one of these, when when uh they said, Lord, when when were you hungry and and and I fed you? And when were you naked and I clothed you, and when were you thirsty but I gave you water? He said, When you do it to the least of these, you do it to me. Practice, practice that, put that in your life. Go to your cupboard, grab some food, you know, go out to a homeless man and tell him that Jesus loves them, you know. Um, so you know, there's a lot of different ways that you can apply God's word in your life. Find a way that works for you, find the right way by reading your word and apply those principles to your life, and you'll be building on the foundation of Jesus Christ. There is going to be a judgment, and in this judgment, our works are going to be tested by fire. Uh, you can build upon the foundation of Jesus Christ with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, stubble, right? And the day that it's put to the fire, uh, each man's work will declare itself because it will be revealed by the fire. So, what type of work are you doing today? What type of things are you practicing today? You know, I have the weekend coming up, and it would be great just to have a couple beers and kick back, but it doesn't work that way with me. There's something wrong in my brain that when I start down a path, I go full throttle, baby. Full throttle. I do everything I can to the extreme. So it's not good for me, you know. Drinking is not a sin. Being a drunkard is something that uh keeps you out of heaven. It says that specifically in the Bible. So I don't want to be a drunkard, you know. I don't want to, I don't want to have, I don't want to perform a practice that's gonna keep me away from my relationship with Jesus, you know, and it's all the self, it's serving yourself. So, you know, um, I'm going to practice speaking well about the Lord and saying right things. I'm going to tell about his stories, and I'm going to put it on the internet, and I'm going to push it out to everybody so that people can see. Um, and uh, you know, it's it's not that hard. It's not that hard. Salvation is not that hard. What it took to bring it salvation about for the redemption of mankind was the most difficult thing that anybody's ever been through. Jesus did something that nobody else could do. You know, he um sacrificed himself. Uh, he submitted himself to the abuse of men and allowed himself to become sac a sacrifice for us to take on our sins. But it's by faith that we can begin a relationship with Jesus if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Salvation will come to you, you know, and then you'll be given the gift of the Holy Spirit, and he will come to live inside of you. And he is our guarantee, he is the sign and seal of God that we are now citizens of heaven. Um, so you know what great proof God gives us that he's actually alive. What great proof to baptize us in the Holy Spirit as evidence that he is who he says he is, and he does according to his word. His word says um many things. Many things. Get into your word, get into your word, read a chapter, you know, today, find out, find, find something, you know, listen to it on audio, you know, because I don't read anymore, I listen to the Bible on audio. I've been through that audio book like three or four times for each book. You know, I just let it wash my mind. I hang on every word because I know that Jesus is alive. And when you know something like that, when you know it 100% for sure, the Bible takes on a different type of weight in your life. It it means something because you know that the author of it is is is dedicated to fulfilling his word in your life when you take a spiritual principle and apply it and walk it out on a daily basis. He's gonna meet you where you decide to go. You know. Um, so anyways, I'm taking a break from work right now. Um, I just thought I'd stop and drop a video. I hope that you guys are having a good day. Check out my YouTube channel, check out my Facebook for Bible studies that I worked really hard on. You know, we all have the same information, we all grow up into the same knowledge of God. So I don't have something special, but the word of God itself is unique and special. Um, and uh it's by my relationship with this book that I can share what I know to be true about God with you. And that in itself is practicing righteousness. That's the seed that you sow today. You sow that seed in somebody else's life. You tell them about Jesus, you lift his name high. You know, Jesus says, if you confess my name before men, I will confess your name before my father. You know, but if you deny me before men, I will deny you before my father. So I've always kept that really close in my heart to make sure that I proclaim the name of Jesus, that he exists, that he is real and alive, and he is in charge. Uh, he's been crowned king of heaven and earth. And what a great thing to know that there there is a God. There is a God. And what a great thing to know that he has written a book that gives us good instruction on how to live our lives so that we can we can apply these things and then see the benefit of them in my life, in our lives. If if you look at the blessings and the curses, your the blessings, your kneading bull is gonna be blessed. When you go out and when you come in, you're gonna be blessed. You're gonna go against the enemy with one man, and 10,000 will flee in front of you, you know. But the curses are just as real. The curses are just as real. And when I start to practice things that I know are not um are not good, because God's word clearly states, don't touch this. I mean, isn't that this what happened in the garden? He said, Don't touch this. And look at what's happened because of touching something that God said, Don't touch. Don't touch it. So, anyways, guys, I'll uh I'll see you later and uh have a good day.
