This Episode is directly after a big outreach in a local High School in North Carolina.
Our mission is to cultivate a community of sold out followers of Jesus with the leading of Holy Spirit. We take them beyond their daily routines and into life-changing journeys across the world, equipping them with a Kingdom identity and perspective. Through these experiences, we are raising up a generation fully devoted to the King of Kings.
Yeah, so anyways, guys, welcome to Whoa, whoa, whoa! Kingdom Wild After Hours. She's already on it. Keep going. I like that.
SPEAKER_05But um we're in it now.
SPEAKER_01Anyways, guys, welcome to Kingdom Wild After Hours. This is our post-rally night podcast episode. Um, we're kind of debriefing our rally night and also just yapping because that's what we do best. And we're really tired. And we're really tired. It's 11:18 in the PM. So way past the Lakers bedtime. Way past light years past the Lakers bedtime. But we thought it would be fun to talk about how our night went and just stuff that we talk about because we talk a lot.
SPEAKER_00And show off our pretty new banners, guys.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, look at this sucker. That we have stickers of. Shout out to Zach for designing this. It looks pretty lit.
SPEAKER_05And that's it.
SPEAKER_00Well you enjoyed the podcast. Okay, so we're in Dobson, North Carolina. This is post-rally night back at the Airbnb. Um, and this is when you'll put in all the good food we've had. But we what do we do? Six and a half hours of driving today. Went the boys got here first at the Airbnb, set up some stuff, but then we both met up at the high school. Sound checks. Right over the building. Yeah, we can get into that. So, like, first we can get on to y'all's half when you guys were like doing sound checks and stuff. And setless.
SPEAKER_01Setlist.
SPEAKER_00Tell us about that. Setlist.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, tell us about that, Josiah. How'd that go?
SPEAKER_04I mean, it went fine.
SPEAKER_02No, so this morning, was it this morning? Josiah texted me, and because they were on the road and he texted me and he was like, Hey, do you have ideas for the set list? And I was like, One song worthy of it all. What about that one? And he was like, Okay, cool. And I feel like that's about oh what?
SPEAKER_04Did you funny enough? The night before, when I was actually thinking about the set list a little bit, that song popped into my head and I was like, no, I don't want to do that song. And then Allegra over here, we should do that song outside.
SPEAKER_02Okay, which is also crazy because Josiah is always like, Let's do worthy of it all. I love that song. We always voice. And I'm the one that's like, can we not do this song, please? We always end up, like, there's always space that happens, and Josiah, like, immediately flows into that song, and I'm like, why this one again? It's a good song, it's just we do it, it feels like we do it every time, and so I'm just like, eh. But I was feeling that one, and he wasn't, so that's interesting. It was meant to be.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so you guys did the sound check. Yeah. Uh sound check.
SPEAKER_02It went really good. We did we did the songs that we were gonna do, and then we kind of just I don't even know how that happened, but we did other stuff too. And it was good. It was like a whole nother mini worship session flow, I think. Oh no, you were a part of it too.
SPEAKER_00What happened to setting oh, this doesn't have to be an I was genuinely curious. What happened to like you setting up like your drum kit? Was that just not?
SPEAKER_05Um Well, I think the reason why I didn't do the drums was probably for two reasons. Number one being that it was going to be just a lot to set up. Um I was missing a couple things to really be able to. I was missing my rug, my drum rug, and then I didn't have the snare stand that I wanted, and so it would be a little bit distracting because the current stand is a little bit short. And then I think that with just the piano and the singing, the the cajon is a little better. And it's nice to play the cajon. Um I don't know. So those are some like technical reasons, but I just enjoy playing the cajon for worship. It's kind of a vibe.
SPEAKER_02It sounded really good. I agree. It did sound good. Yeah, you guys sounded great. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so we did sound check. Yeah, sounding great shows, hating those harmonies, brah.
SPEAKER_00He was all with that mic, because the he was like a mic. Do you need a mic? And Josiah was like, no, and like it was like, yes, he does.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because last time he didn't have a microphone, and the it was like we finished, and I was like, Man, I wish Josiah would have had a microphone. Yeah. And so this time Josiah was asked, Do you want a microphone? And he was like, No, I don't need one. And I was like, You are having a microphone. We're not doing this again. So he got a microphone and it was fantastic.
SPEAKER_04I was so far away from the mic.
SPEAKER_00But it was really loud.
SPEAKER_01So spoiler, Josiah can sing. I don't know. I looked over when I was like when I heard him singing, I looked over and I was like, dang, he's really far from the mic. I'm glad I can still hear.
SPEAKER_04I was like, okay, I can sing because they can't hear me, and then you could.
SPEAKER_01It was actually pretty loud. But it was really good. It sounded good. But I also like, if you had been a girl, I might not have noticed as much, but because I was like, oh, that's a guy singing into a mic, like, I, you know, singing you sing.
SPEAKER_02Another thing, there was a guy, like when we were singing in the front row. Uh, I don't it he it was one of the families that came in. The guy in the overalls, yeah. Yes. I could sing.
SPEAKER_01It reminded me of Tom Campbell's overalls.
SPEAKER_02I could hear him singing clean from where I yeah. Like I had my eyes closed and I could hear something. Projecting. Really? And I opened my eyes and I was like, it's that guy right there. I know it is. Dang. To be able to project like castle that is kind of crazy. I know. Which I mean, to be fair, we were in the gym and gyms like you can hear everybody's voice. But yeah. That was cool. I always love hearing people sing. Like, that's just like I would rather hear them than my me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Real. Yeah. I like hearing you sing. Riding in the car with Allegra is like, I said this earlier, but it's literally like a free concert. And like I'll hear harmonies in my head, but like I can't make them come out of my mouth. But then like Allegra will just sing them and it like scratches an itch in my brain, and I'm like, that's so good. You killed that. You know? Yeah, it's good stuff.
SPEAKER_04So what did we do after soundtrack?
SPEAKER_00Well, what did they do? What did you where were you guys at? We well, first we had to work on some Instagram stuff. We were answering some questions. Um, and then we decided to do like a miniature, like not a minute minute, it was supposed to be miniature. It wasn't miniature. And then we're like, this is a small school. So we walked down outside prayer walk around the whole street. In like long sleeve shirts. You had a long sleeve shirt. It was like a sweater on, and we were like hiking across the it doesn't matter, God is good. I was sweating. Yes, but like we decided just to like do our best to walk the four corners of the property and kind of just like pray and declare and and yeah, ask for a favor over the evening. Yeah, we were kind of sweaty at the end, but it was good. That gym felt really good.
SPEAKER_01That gym felt great when we walked in. I was like, wow, this is nice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but then we found you guys and they supplied us tacos. Yeah, that was good stuff.
SPEAKER_02So we ate tacos and grapes. The clock on the raw wall was very wrong. Yeah. And Nathan believed it.
SPEAKER_01Nathan thought we had like 15 minutes left and we had like five minutes. That was funny. Yeah, that was good. The lady that was like worked at the school that like put the rally night together was super cool.
SPEAKER_00Yes, she was. I liked her kids. They were cool. Nice. She didn't really.
SPEAKER_01Oh, we're gonna go find those on Amazon.
SPEAKER_04Have you heard this is so no why tell us? This is such a homeschooler song.
SPEAKER_01Oh, tell us. Wait, if you guys need a song for red details, I could sing the whole thing right now.
SPEAKER_02No, it's called The Coffee Shop Bot by Sarah Maddox. Oh yeah. Have you heard?
SPEAKER_01I used to follow her on Instagram, yeah. Yeah. I thought you were talking about like pants, have sticks, legs, that's no squid. Huh? For a dog and an out for a kid. You know? When you said hey, that makes me think of a song, I was like, with a pair of pants, you're not alone. We can dance with our pants till the cows come home, you know?
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'll serenade you guys later, don't worry. Anyway, I'm so looking forward to it. Is it weird if I put my feet on this? If you can reach it. Guys, Dawson looks so dumb. Dawson's like, can we talk about the rally night, please?
SPEAKER_05I'm just enjoying listening.
SPEAKER_01Are you so tired? Are you gonna enjoy it when I serenade you guys later?
SPEAKER_05Um what?
SPEAKER_01I said, are you gonna enjoy it when I serenade you guys with a Veggie Tale silly song later? The pants one? Yeah. Sure.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'll do that and then we'll watch Interstellar. Not tonight. Tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Not tonight, dude.
SPEAKER_01Not tonight.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so the actual rally now.
SPEAKER_01Yes, the event itself.
SPEAKER_04There were a lot of people.
SPEAKER_02There were a lot of people. That was a good turnout.
SPEAKER_04You never really know like how many people are actually gonna shout out to the street.
SPEAKER_01Well then you have like projected numbers, but it's like I never trusted projected numbers because I've seen people way overshoot and people way undershoot.
SPEAKER_00I also liked how it was like a mixed crowd. Like it wasn't just like youth. Yeah. Like there were youth leaders, but also like parents with like families and like younger kids. And I really liked that. It just felt more like a tent, like I don't know, just more like not where speaking out of school. Yeah. For real. So I really liked that. That was cool. So they did their announcements. Y'all jumped up there for worship. Yep.
SPEAKER_04We had to move.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Right before it started. Yeah. So like we had the whole thing set up, like you know, high school gym, so like there's bleachers on both sides, and we had like everything against like one goal kind of facing the other goal. But then everybody sits on, well, they kind of sit on both sides of the gym. And we were like, no.
SPEAKER_04Nobody does that.
SPEAKER_02Sorry, but that was.
SPEAKER_05I just like to the side that like the people are coming in, they sat on the two sides of the field goal. And they can't do that.
SPEAKER_01Everybody think that this is what we're gonna get the runs, you know. Like, don't.
SPEAKER_05You gotta get a middle side of third base.
SPEAKER_01Like the wall. Like basketball goal. Soccer goal. A soccer goal. Soccer goal, football goal. Football goal. A basketball goal. No, no, no. No, no, no. In the South, we say like, oh, we have a basketball goal in the front yard. We say that.
SPEAKER_00Yes, baseball southern people.
SPEAKER_01Basketball net. We could say that, but we don't say it as much. Like the basketball goal. Not everyone's basketball goal has a net, especially in the south. Especially in the south. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Usually sometimes there'd be no net.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Never heard that.
SPEAKER_00So like I said, okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So everybody's right. Nobody's wrong. No one's not a big thing. It's just a cultural difference. But that was funny. So anyways.
SPEAKER_05What about a soccer hoop?
SPEAKER_01Is it a hoop though?
SPEAKER_05It's not a circle.
SPEAKER_01You mean? Okay. Okay. But anyways. So people sat on the bleachers on both sides of the court. It's good terminology. Thank you. So proud. So it's like, anyways. They sat on both sides of the court. And we're facing the other, the opposing teams end of the court, if you will. And then they've like funneled everybody from one set of bleachers to the other side. So everybody's on one side of the room. And so we just like oriented all of the equipment towards that half of the room, basically.
SPEAKER_02At start time. Yeah, at start time.
SPEAKER_01Well like right after start time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was like 6 32 and we're sitting there and we were like, wait, everybody's gonna be facing it.
SPEAKER_01It's like people would be facing this way and we'd be facing this way, leading worship. Like you would, I would.
SPEAKER_02So we were like, let's move it. So we did teamwork makes the dream work. Let's do it really.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was funny. It was chill.
SPEAKER_02Did somebody trip over a court or something? Or almost the lady.
SPEAKER_00The main lady. Gosh, I don't know what her name was. Dana Dana? Dana?
SPEAKER_05Nathan's laptop was messy. Yes, it was that demise.
SPEAKER_02Really? That she saved it. Yeah. Were you guys in there for this?
SPEAKER_01But she was the one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because that's what it was because we were pushing the one, because so that we had giant like TV screens.
SPEAKER_01It was not me when I pushed the TV. Did that pull the cord? No, no. It was Nathan. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Everyone was just moving everything around. And then the laptop was full of it just like and it ran out of slack.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Oh, really? A little cartoon. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It like spirals on, and then it's like, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But it was fine. No computers were harmed. So today. Today. Right. Good point. Right.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02Always tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Oh dear. Maybe for your computer. Oh. My MacBook Air's gotta last me a good long while, okay? Me and old faithful.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I can sacrifice mine.
SPEAKER_02I need a new one anyway. Getting a new one.
SPEAKER_05We'll throw yours in the river tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Alright. I do need to back up my pictures first. That'd be nice. What were you gonna say?
SPEAKER_00I don't remember. I do remember. Okay, say it. Yeah. Um what? Okay. So I liked how um I'm thinking, sorry. I liked how while we were all kind of sitting down and Nathan was like positioning and telling people where to sit on the side of the court, we kind of all got together and prayed. And amongst ourselves, because like, yes, we wanted to pray all together, but we were like, oh, Dawson was filming, um, Nathan was like micromanaging and stuff. And but I just liked how afterward Nathan was like, okay, guys, let's pray. And I don't know, in my mind, it was like not that you can't have too much prayer, that's not what I'm saying. But like a year back, yes, we would have like been praying to ourselves, but Nathan feels like he has to be like, okay, guys, let's pray. And now we're like, dude, we've already like we got like not in a bad sense, because not too much prayer, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, but in a sense of like, dude, we we're on this, like, yeah, yeah, I don't know. I just like the comparison of like how it would have been like a year ago, which we would have been praying a year ago.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but it's also like taking initiatives, yeah. I don't know without it's the same growth, yeah, and I like that. I agree.
SPEAKER_00I concur. My throat hurts, and I already took 400 milligrams. Oh, you do that the whole time.
SPEAKER_04She has no idea what's happening. That's going in.
SPEAKER_00No, we can't go in. But like, I was gonna take six injured. You're dying! Your throat hurts that much. It hurts pretty bad if I was gonna sit here and talk. Yeah, when she took the ibuprofen. We should have like stopped and got on popsicles or something. I know. Oh, wait, what time is it? Oh wait, maybe.
SPEAKER_01It's 11:38. We can't get popsicles. Okay. Dang, that stops. They're so nice. Yeah, it kind of is. We can get popsicles smart. We can get ice cream, that would be soothing for your throat. Yeah. Like a local. Are there culprits around here? I have free Scoopies. She has like 10 or 12 in her wallet. And then in the front of Josiah's car, there's like seven more of them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's crazy. Do you need a tear dawson?
SPEAKER_05No. It'll have just been weighed out, and then it's just weighed.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_05There was a random skip in there.
SPEAKER_02Oh. Okay.
SPEAKER_05He's back all of a sudden.
SPEAKER_01And we're back. And we're back.
unknownOh man.
SPEAKER_01Um, okay, so we did worship. Nathan spoke. And then more worship. A little bit more worship. Well, Nathan spoke and they did kind of like an altar call thing. Yeah. And then um more like another we closed out with a song. Yeah. So yeah, it was good.
SPEAKER_00We got our food from the fridge. It's always good seeing Nathan like jump in. What? No, that's so good. I jumped so far into the fridge. He did, but we can go food. We can go to the food. I don't care. I don't really even like racing in. Yeah, seeing Nathan his element, even though like he was literally at that school this morning, right? And then just seeing him be able to, because like we've been to schools with him before, and like seeing how he has to be particular with his words. And yes, Nathan does an amazing job with preaching the gospel without preaching the gospel. But seeing it and like, oh, now I can just stay Jesus as much as I want. And he hit the number where he was like, I can't do it. But and Dawson's not gonna get up. But when he like was like on the floor, like hidden, yeah, like that part. That was it. It's just like, I don't know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I think you're talking about this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was waiting for you to do it. Thank you. No, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So he's gonna get his knees and he like what when he was on his knees.
SPEAKER_05Like this? No, I mean, were you both the blank?
SPEAKER_00You're doing great. You're doing good. Thank you. Yeah, it was a good one. Do it again for the camera's sake.
SPEAKER_03Oh no. I said you're doing good.
SPEAKER_00He's like, I already did my It was good. Great. Yeah. But yeah, and then was a sort of an altar call. And I love how like I've never been in a space to have to do an altar call, but I'm like, I'm terrified of that. Of being like, wow, if you're dealing with this, come to the front. I'm always scared it's gonna be like and but Nathan's so patient with it.
SPEAKER_02He's like, Yeah, because you yeah, he's because how long did it take tonight? I mean, probably at least a minute. Probably a minute. You think you think?
SPEAKER_00Probably felt longer than it was.
SPEAKER_02Probably, it was probably I don't know, just under a minute. Okay, yeah. Yeah, like 45 minutes. Because like we stood up there, Josiah stood up there and played for a long time. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Before but it all it also feels like forever. Yeah, yeah. When you're in the moment, it feels like it's forever.
SPEAKER_02But like But it definitely wasn't an immediate response. No, and there was silence, and then Nathan was like, I'll wait. Yeah, like, oh, he's serious.
SPEAKER_00He's for real about this. And then I don't know, just seeing like I don't know, the basic humanity of it, of seeing like one girl walk up and then it's like floodgates. Yeah. Yeah. And then, or like seeing people walk up with their friends, and a lot of people are like, oh, they're just working for their friends. It's like, no, a lot of those girls were sitting there like for their friends. Yeah. And I was like, that's so sweet. Like, um, so we went up there and am I allowed to like talk about the kid? I think so. I wouldn't use his name, but I'm not sure. So no, I thought his name was really funny because my dad used to work with this guy.
SPEAKER_02This is just I think practice also feels different from the actual thing because you don't have and I mean we can flow either way, but like you don't have to stick to the set list when you're practicing. Like you can go off and do other things, and it feels more like free flow rather than the actual thing you kind of like, especially if you have worries, like you kind of you don't have to. But like if someone's running extra. But that's the expectation. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I think you can free flow. And but I think one of the things that boils it down for me, oftentimes the thing that gets in my way is simply worrying.
SPEAKER_01I also this also we need to save this for the like worship and maybe like excellence in worship episode. I don't know if that's a good title, but like I think part of that too is like if you have a good slide operator on Prepresenter, as soon as you guys start flowing into something, you can just pop that slide. Like, it's not, it takes literally two seconds to if you already have that song in your library, already formatted, literally two seconds to put something in to that price that presentation. Like it's not, and so like if you have someone that is excellent in their service, and not to say that like you can't have a beginner on slides, but just like if you have a really solid team, then like that makes worship flow smoother for the audience because you have someone that's trained really well on pro, then they can just pop it in. You know, it it just flows.
SPEAKER_05Were you there for the Sokote where I advocated for no slides?
SPEAKER_01I was only there for one Soko. Not last year, but the year before. I've never been to Elijah Clark. This would have been at Twinoaks. You were not sure.
SPEAKER_05That was a joy to me.
SPEAKER_01Really? I love it when there's no slides.
SPEAKER_05I said no slides.
SPEAKER_01I'm fine with no slides.
SPEAKER_05We did worship every morning, and it wasn't a big debate, but there was a few days where I went back and forth with people and I was like, I don't want any no slides, no screen, nothing. And um long story short, it turned out great.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Basically, what happened was after the first couple days of just breaking the habit of being used to looking up and reading the screen, which is not a bad thing. Yeah, but people just learned to you have to do Something. I wanted to see people just do something. And so people would just hold their kids' hand and just walk around with them and just pray and just whatever. And it just turned into this very respectful, you know. Um sometimes people, when you know the song, you sing, and when you don't, you pray, and it wasn't a huge deal. Um I think like I said, I think at first people didn't really know what to do. Um, but after a couple days they learned, I'll sing when I know it, and if I don't know it, I'll pray, or um, you know, talk to somebody about the Bible or something. And it was it was great.
SPEAKER_02It really I feel like having no slides is good because then you're not just singing along. Yeah. Like you can't just sing along. Right, like if you know the like if I can easily hear a song for the first time, and if I have the words in front of me, I can sing along. Yeah. I mean, part of that is because I am musically inclined, so I just like can guess where the song is going. Like, especially if I have the words in front of me. But like if you don't have the words in front of you and you don't know the song, then you're gonna listen to the words. And if you do know the song, then you can sing and you know what you're singing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and you're not just blindly singing something that like you're reading it and it's coming out of your mouth, but it's not like stopping out here first. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And like I'm guilty of that too. Like, I'm speaking from experience, I think it's just it's definitely a comfort zone that I think is good to leave every once in a while.
SPEAKER_05For sure. And so many of the people already knew so many of the songs.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So yeah, that's helpful. Because it's gonna be still standing. It's gonna be Dawson at his house editing, and he's gonna be like, So we forgot to film an outro, so I'm just gonna film that. I'm just gonna be like point five. So I just decided to film the outro just now. So the episode's over.
SPEAKER_05Crazy you should say that.
SPEAKER_01And then I just constantly Dawson. All right. That's good run, guys.
SPEAKER_05Ladies and gentlemen, Hebrews and welcome to the Life Podcast. Today we are here with the wild ones.
SPEAKER_01Right. Whoop whoop. Wait, isn't that what we're doing?
SPEAKER_05Where we inspire you.
SPEAKER_00You really got that. You're peculiar people.
SPEAKER_05But one of them came out to me and he looked at my phone case and he's like, is that an elephant? And I was like, yeah, it's an elephant. He's like, where did you get this? And I was like, I got in Africa. He goes, There's elephants in Africa? And I'm like, dude, I was like, yeah, buddy, there's there's elephants in Africa. And he's like, Do you think that one day God will use all of the elephants to trample and kill all of the armies of Satan, the enemy. And you're like And murder them all.
SPEAKER_01And I'm like, yeah, bro, that's a pretty good idea. He's like, Good strat.
SPEAKER_05Awesome. I have your blue pen. Oh my god, but he's like, Yes. And then he just walked off, and I'm like, that was the best conversation I've ever had. Bible says we gotta destroy the sucker. And like, he's like, it's somebody, he's like, dang the Bible says oh. He's like, we have a baseball bat in the card. He's like, oh gosh, he's like, you're right, the Bible said he's definitely gonna cut. There's like this old couple next to us at a light last thing. And they were sitting there, and you could tell they were not looking at us. He's like, let's raise something like stop. So loud. And then we ended up like in the next line with them. And we're like, oh
