SPEAKER_02Hello, I'm Superintendent Aaron Spence and welcome back to Think Fast. Today I am joined by two very special guests. We have our Director of Student Mental Health Services, Jen Evans, along with Brennan who is an 11th grader from Heritage High School. Brennan is a leader in the Student Council. He's also a member of my Student Advisory Council and they're both here to answer some Think Fast questions about the upcoming United for Wellness Conference and Resource Fair. So welcome, Jen and Brennan. Thank you for ¡Gracias por
SPEAKER_00estar aquí hoy! ¡Gracias!
SPEAKER_02is so practical that parents can really leave with strategies they can
SPEAKER_00use right away at home. Can you just share a little bit more about how the day will be structured? Yes, so a lot of thoughtful planning went into the conference. It's
SPEAKER_02set up in three 50-minute blocks. Parents can choose which sessions they want to attend, explore the resource fair, and even purchase lunch or snacks from our food trucks. Outstanding. All right, Brenna, I'd like to bring you into this conversation. So, as a student leader who's really been involved in building community at Heritage High School. Why do you think events like this are important for
SPEAKER_01our students and families? Events like this are very important for students and families because they help build and foster a community that encourages belonging, encourages communication, and encourages supporting students and mental health
SPEAKER_02challenges and issues that they face. Well, so from your perspective, how does supporting mental health and wellness help students feel
SPEAKER_01more connected and successful at school?
I mean, Jen, I'm not sure we could say it any better than that. But I also know that this conference is just one part of the
Antes de terminar, ¿puedes decirle a nuestros espectadores cómo registrarse for
SPEAKER_00this amazing event. Absolutely. And you've probably received an email, but you can sign up for the sessions and find out more at lcps.org slash wellness. And there's a lot of information on the sessions that are available so you can pick and choose which one you
SPEAKER_02want to attend. Outstanding. Brennan, any final message for families who might be thinking about attending?
SPEAKER_01Yes, attend. You know, the expectation and the hope is not perfection. The most valuable thing you can do is try and be there.
