Whatever you expose yourself to the most is going to be the strongest force in your thoughts.

SPEAKER_02

In the time where Peter was trying to remove his identity from being a follower of Christ.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He did it using curse words.

SPEAKER_00

If Jesus was in the room, you know, would I cuss? Well, hello, everybody. Welcome to the Wellspring Podcast. I'm Pastor Randy Lynn, my son Justin Lynn here. We're here to just share some good things from the Word of God to you today. You know, the Word of God is the Wellspring of Truth. Jesus said, I am the truth. And praise God He is. And so we welcome you today. I'm glad to be with you today, Justin, on the Wellspring Podcast.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and I'm excited about the subject we're about to go over.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

This is something that uh growing up, friends have uh had conversations about of whether it's okay or not okay as a Christian.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Should we read the text?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so we're gonna go to Ephesians chapter four, verse 29 through 30.

SPEAKER_00

Let no unwholesome, and the King James says corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is good for building up, that it may give grace to the listeners. That it may give grace to the listeners. I love that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And don't and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God by whom you are sealed for the day of redemption. Wow, that's pretty powerful. Yeah. And there's a lot there. But we are, as believers, born again. Yeah. When we come to Christ, we receive a brand new nature. And you know, a lot of people don't understand the fact today that we're not just signing a contract on something when we come to Christ, we are becoming new.

SPEAKER_02

We're assuming a whole new identity. First Christian. He says Yeah, the old things have passed away, all things have become new.

SPEAKER_00

All and all things are of God. So, you know, we've got to realize that the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit takes care of our speech as well. Yeah. You know, the worlds were created, the Bible says the worlds were framed in Hebrews by the Word of God. Yeah, words are power. Words are so powerful. And so, yeah, we're talking about it today.

SPEAKER_02

I know uh, you know, growing up in in our home, you know, we didn't, you know, allow any kind of cursing or slaying words or profanity, you know, and uh how did that affect you when you grew up and kind of hit the outside world and you heard young people, I mean, what as a young man had been raised in the presence of God, what did that what what did you say in yourself about that, you know, when you start hearing people talk off color and well, I I don't know, thinking back to it, I I just um I know I got saved at a young age, but even growing up uh knowing that I mean the whole question today is should Christians should Christians cuss? Should we be cursing? And I just associated that with uh going through school and stuff and just realizing that people that really didn't have a heart connection with Jesus, um that's kind of what came out of their mouths. I don't I don't know. I just remember growing up if I there was a few times where I got really angry and there were some friends that I hung around at uh when I went to like tech school and all that, and I just I remember I I just threw a curse word out and immediately I was like, I don't I don't know about that.

SPEAKER_00

That you know it's conviction of the Holy Spirit, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I just felt like it I didn't really know it in these terms at that point, but I just felt like it grieved the Holy Spirit in me.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and that's absolutely scriptural. That's what he said here. Don't grieve the Spirit of God that by which we're sealed. And that is there is such a power on the inside of us when we are filled with the Holy Spirit that it you know, a lot of us just real need to realize God is living in us. You know, we're when we're born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, He's not out there somewhere. Yeah, He's in us. The Bible said uh John said in first John 4, greater is he that's in us than he that's in the world. So we're not separated from the Spirit of God if we're truly born again. And so instantly, now we have our free will, of course, yeah. Always, but instantly when we say something that's not in agreement with pure truth, yeah, uh it grieves the Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And you that's that's why we do feel bad. I'm I'm telling you, when I was growing up, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I feel like today, um it's interesting to me to look on things um now that I'm older and see the perspective of touchy subjects um for new Christians and like should we do this, should we do that? And this one being should we be cursing as Christians? I I look at it as when you go see a movie, when you look up a TV show, yeah, non-Christian organizations have to list what cuss what curse words are in the movie, right, and they rate the level of movie for the age viewers according to that. And so if you look at that from the world's perspective, yeah, um I mean, even non-Christians don't want their kids, a lot of them don't want their kids growing up just yelling profanities. I mean, even not in the Christian life, you see that in the movie world, like them rating the movies according to the the profanity.

SPEAKER_00

True. Well, because we're born with a conscience. We all are born with a conscience, which is that God uh that God-leaning uh basis of right and wrong that we were born with. You know, people argue that, you know, people who are atheists and things, but uh they wouldn't even know the atheist wouldn't even know what was good or evil if he evolved because there would be no standard. Yeah. You know, so I mean atheism, of course, uh debunks itself really. But that that conscience on the inside, even people who have not, as you say, made Jesus their Lord, they know there's something wrong with a kid using four-letter words.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And so, yeah, it's built into our society, which, you know, uh arguably has been a Christian society.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We're kind of in a sadly a post-Christian era now, but you know, it's it's uh it's built within the consciousness of most people. Now, I hear today as you do people that man, they they just let her fly and they don't even realize what they're saying. I mean, yeah, it's just so sad.

SPEAKER_02

But to me, that's like um being a minister and going to the bar to drink with other people to relate to them, but then looking on the opposite side, what does that person think? Like this minister is supposed to be living a righteous life and they're here drinking with me when the minister's thinking I'm relating to them, but what you're really doing is giving the other person um a bad testimony. Yeah, bad testimony and letting them feel comfortable in what they're doing.

SPEAKER_00

It really is. And and the Lord said to always let your light shine, you know, don't hide it under a bushel. Yeah. And uh it's really hard, you know. The Lord said, and I'm gonna go over quickly to Matthew chapter uh twelve.

SPEAKER_02

This all stems back to becoming a new identity in Christ.

SPEAKER_00

That's exactly right. We're not the same people we were. And as a matter of fact, uh you will find that people when they come to Christ, and no one really even has to tell them because the Spirit of God moves in. John said, if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he's none of his. So uh when the the per the moment a person is born again and Christ comes in, the Holy Spirit comes in to regenerate their being.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We pass from death unto life, the scripture said. So even a person who's never been told a Christian shouldn't cuss, they will find themselves, after they've committed their life to Christ, saying something that's just ticker taped out of their mind that they've been used to saying all their lives. They've been used to saying, and all of a sudden they get this tinge of of uh conviction that they've never gotten before. Yeah. Because the Holy Spirit's there.

SPEAKER_02

That reminds me, there's been many times I've been working out in the gym.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I've worked out with friends and um just the fact that people that I've been working out with have known that I've been a that I'm a Christian and that yeah, I love Jesus. And and I remember we were working out, or I'm I'm living a heavy weight, or trying to max out, and they said a cuss word, and then I got up and they were immediately was like, I'm I'm sorry for saying that. I didn't I don't I don't mean to be cussing around you. Like I didn't say like you don't have to cuss around me. Like I didn't I even told them, I said, I I understand. Like I it's okay. Like yeah, I don't do that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, but it was just the fact that um they weren't even living in a Christian walk and they just felt the need to like I don't think that that's appropriate in this situation.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. There's that conscience again.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Thank God. We've been given a conscience, and the Bible says until it is seared and a person uh in Romans chapter one is turned over to a reprobate mind, they will always have that. And that's one way it's another subject altogether, but that's one way a person can know they still uh can be saved.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They can still come to Christ. If if they if the person still cares about right and wrong, then they can be born again if they'll just come to Jesus. So yeah, I love this scripture. Don't you know we don't as Christians, if we're not careful, you know, the desensitizing that media does, movies do. Uh, you know, it's really sad, but you know, we'll at times we'll go pay for pay good money and hear the Lord's name taken in vain. Of course, you and I and permanent pretty much our family will get up and leave if that i is preeminent there in this movie. But it's just it isn't right for people that claim to know Christ to talk this way.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, you said desensitizing. I've noticed over the last ten or twelve years um the more and more acceptable certain shows have been to Christians just because it's in our everyday life. We hear it constantly, and so then it's like what we would have immediately turned off 10 years ago. Now we're like, I'll just let it slide. We hear it all the time.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And that's I think what has made it easier for Christians to think, you know, should I be cussing? I mean, it's okay, we hear it all the time, but really it comes down to what happened in your identity change? Are you trying to become more like Jesus? Are you trying to have words of grace and words of love come out of your mouth?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or are you looking back at your old life and trying to double dip into the old life and the new?

SPEAKER_00

That's just what the Lord said over here in Matthew chapter twelve. Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt. For the tree is known by its fruit. Jesus was talking, and this is well, it's a whole nother subject, but it was right in the context of these people who had just blasphemed the Holy Spirit, these Pharisees, and it's all connected. I mean, Matthew chapter 12, we we pick some great things out of it, but it's really all connected. The Lord is talking about that very thing. Are you going to operate out of an evil nature or are you going to operate out of the new nature?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know. And then he he goes on to say, you know, a good man brings out of the good treasure of his heart good things. An evil man brings out of the evil treasure of his heart evil things. But I say unto you that for every idle word that men shall speak, they will give an account on the day of judgment. Man, you know, if I was teetering on the edge, do Christians cuss or not, right there, I would be war forewarned.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because, you know, that's clear. We're going to stand before God and answer to every idle word. And I've preached on this subject and looked up that word idol in the Greek, it means useless and fruitless. Yeah. It doesn't do anyone any good. And uh the Lord gave us words, again, the world was framed by words to use for positive things, for creating positive things. Yeah. And so that's one of the most uh wrong things about cursing or profanity. It's just idle, useless words that creates everything bad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I mean, nine times out of ten, when those words are being used, it's out of anger or it's a derogatory term towards someone and um Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Emotions get involved and exactly.

SPEAKER_02

And I wanted to ask you this question what qualifies as corrupt communication in today's culture?

SPEAKER_00

Well, just anything that you instantly know in your spirit you're convicted of. You know, that language changes over time. Um, I remember a day uh in the culture when I was younger, uh, people who used that terrible word that everybody throws around today, it it was so bad that it would shock people who didn't even belong to Christ. Yeah. But over time, it's become so acceptable. Acceptable. Every politician uses this. Uh-huh. And I've said from the pulpit, you know, can anyone talk without using that word today?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and you know, from a person from a perspective of the light of God that's been in me for my whole life, I'm like, it's a low level of intelligence, if that's all the words you can use to try to express yourself. But you you're right, it gets acceptable because again, people need to align with loving Jesus. How close can I come? And so if you know, if you think that's okay and you just accept those words, it creates every kind of bad. There's a a great pastor down in Atlanta, and he basically says, and I agree with him 100%, he says, you know, cursing profanity, that's the language of Satan. Yeah. I mean, if you could see demons walking around smoking cigars and drinking booze, which I don't think they do that, but they're they're they're using profanity.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know. Yeah. So it's just not something that Christians should allow. It it does no good.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It creates nothing good. So I mean, what good is it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I think that's what you got to come to, the decision as a Christian with anything. And we'll do other podcasts about these subjects, like drinking and all these things. It's like you got to come to the conclusion of what good comes out of this.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Now let's get back to the video. So I want to go. I saw this um story on another podcast that was really I was sharing with you before we started. Can you go to uh Mark chapter 14?

SPEAKER_00

Mark chapter 14, yes, sir.

SPEAKER_02

Verse 66. It's uh the moment where Peter is within the crowd, yeah, and Jesus had been taken in, and everyone around Peter at this time were the ones that were crucify him, crucify him, along with the Pharisees. And so Peter was a minority in this area right here. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

He was totally confused. Yes. His savior was going to be crucified, which they still couldn't quite wrap their heads around that before. Yeah. Even though he told them. So he's completely confused.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I'm sure he's angry, you know. I'm sure he was angry. He cut somebody's ear off and Malchus's ear.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. While Peter was below in the courtyard, and this is close to where Jesus was on trial, one of the servant girls of the high priest came, and when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, You also were with Jesus of Nazareth. So right there he's like, Okay, I've been discovered. Yeah. You know, here's my Lord is up here being scourged. They're gonna kill him. So his flesh man is going, Oh, I don't want to be an identified with this.

SPEAKER_02

He's getting nervous and anxious.

SPEAKER_00

He I mean they'll come after me.

SPEAKER_02

That's for all he knew, he could be getting beat too. He could be next, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But he denied it, saying, I neither know nor understand what you're saying. He played dumb. Then he went out to the porch and a rooster crowed. Now you remember the Lord had told him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's that's one level, it happening. But to have had the Lord tell you, you're gonna deny me three times.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, as humans, we have short memories sometimes, don't we?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Pressure gets on. And the moment this rooster crows, Peter is nailed. He's like hearing the words of Jesus again, you're gonna deny me three times.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

And it goes on to say the servant girl saw him again and began to say those to those who stood by. So now she's making him public. Yep. This man is one of them. But again he denied it. And a little while later, those who stood by again said to Peter, Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech confirms it. And then I think this is where you're going.

SPEAKER_02

This is it, verse 71.

SPEAKER_00

Peter began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, I do not know this man of whom you speak. And the rooster crowed the second time. And that's when it says Jesus, or Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, these exact words. Before the rooster crows twice, you're gonna deny me three times.

SPEAKER_02

And he broke down and wept.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And wouldn't we? You know. Man, I've been I've been caught and I've been guilty, as the Lord said. And uh but you were gonna bring up a point about cursing here.

SPEAKER_02

In that moment when Peter was denying Jesus, yeah. Wow, he was trying to separate himself. Uh he was trying to deny the identity he had with Jesus. Right. And in that moment of denying the identity he had with Jesus, he began to curse.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

In as per se to say, like, I'm not with him, yeah, I'm with you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And he used cursing to separate himself from Jesus.

SPEAKER_00

Foul language. He changed kingdoms by identifying with their everyday speech.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And uh, you know, that's kind of a that's such a tragic thing, and that's why he had to be forgiven.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, because that sort of sealed again, our words are are they. Seal things. They bring things to pass. And so he literally brought a curse upon himself.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and cut himself off from the Lord right there, using foul language. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I just think that's I mean, I've had people ask me before, like, can is it a sin to cut cuss and all that? And I don't believe if if you slip and say a cuss word and you've been saved and like it's, you know, like we were talking about, like that's been your life.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I believe that it grieves the Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it will.

SPEAKER_02

But it's goes all the way back to uh what who are you trying to identify as? Are you identifying as a follower of Christ or are you trying to go back to your old self? Yeah. And since reading this and that jumping out to me on a I saw another podcast video talking about this, and then I read the verse and I thought, yeah, wow.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty powerful.

SPEAKER_02

In the in the time where Peter was trying to remove his identity from being a follower of Christ.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He did it using curse words. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

He did.

SPEAKER_02

It's just amazing to me to see that come out in the in the Bible.

SPEAKER_00

And again, that shows us how important words are. Because words are the expression of thoughts.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And let's face it, we get thoughts from one of two kingdoms. Yeah. Our all of our thoughts are either going to come from the Lord and his wisdom and his kingdom, or they're going to come from the dark side, the enemy's side.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

And so, you know, Peter was just uh he was just torn and twisted. You know, he just part of him, he'd stood up and like you mentioned, he'd chopped off Malchus's ear. I'm standing for Jesus.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But then when the reality, I think this is where a lot of people fail in their walk with the Lord, when the reality of where the rubber meets the road, as we'd say, and you're standing there, and here comes the kingdom of darkness for payday. If you're not firm in your relationship with the Lord, I mean, you know, it's it's very easy for people to defect.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And it's dangerous as well. But yeah, you know, uh, it happened with words.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah. Our identity should influence how we speak.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. And there again, to identify with Christ is to love him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, again to the person who flippantly says, is it a sin to cuss? The whole uh backing of that question is I only love God this much. So I just want to don't I don't want to cross the line and get out of my relationship to him, but I I want to get as close so I can identify with the world as possible. So that's the whole wrong question. Is the true question is how much do I love Jesus?

SPEAKER_02

Are you all in?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or are you lukewarm as he talks to the church? Uh he said, if you're lukewarm, I'll spit you out of my mouth.

SPEAKER_00

Revelation.

SPEAKER_02

Revelation, yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Like, are you all in or are you living half and half?

SPEAKER_00

Like Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

When people get baptized, yeah, that is an outward expression of their new identity in Christ. And that is in one moment where the people around them see that. But um, as they live through life, their I new identity uh is something that should be noticed by those around them. Like I said, like whenever I went to the gym and somebody apologized to me for cussing, it was it wasn't that I'm just I'm holy or anything. I'm just like anybody else, but I have Jesus inside me.

SPEAKER_00

Carrying the light, son. We are carrying the light.

SPEAKER_02

And they noticeably knew that whenever they cussed, it they didn't want to offend me. Yeah. And what I believe is they felt the Holy Spirit and their conscience didn't want to offend the Holy Spirit in me.

SPEAKER_00

No doubt. He can be felt.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

That's the reason the Lord said, Let your light shine. They can feel it, they know it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And so, yeah, it's really again, it comes like everything in serving God comes to the matter of the heart. Do I want to please God with everything? And if I do, it's gonna be every thought, word, and deed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's gonna be every action. You're gonna talk the way it would be pleased. If Jesus was in the room.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, would I cuss if Jesus was in the room? No. And so there we are. It's a matter of the heart.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, uh I have a couple questions here in closing. Uh, what's one practical way to start improving your speech?

SPEAKER_00

Your speech. The Bible.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, again, the more you think about anything. Uh I said in one of my recent sermons, and I felt like the Lord gave me this phrase to kind of open our eyes to things. Whatever you expose yourself to the most will be the strongest force in you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

If you expose yourself to food, you're gonna think about food more than you think about anything else. It's gonna go over if you expose yourself to uh hobbies, activities, sports, music, whatever kind. Whatever you expose yourself to the most is gonna be the strongest force in your thoughts. Yeah. So if we want to change and become become more like Jesus, the thing we've got to expose ourselves to is everything he said.

SPEAKER_02

The reading of the word.

SPEAKER_00

Reading of God's word. Yeah. And so because it does change, it rewires your brain.

SPEAKER_02

It doesn't just inform you, it cleanses you.

SPEAKER_00

It cleanses you. Well, because it's I tell people all the time to do this test. It this book is a life.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Go read uh Moby Dick or Gone with the Wind, or read read a piece of literature that is familiar. And then pick up the Bible and see the difference. Because the Bible starts speaking to the human spirit. Every other book is just the words of a man.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But the word of God is alive and it's a mirror, James said. It starts uh reflecting what's in our hearts. So reading the Bible changes us. It re it literally, there was a study I saw on the internet just a few days ago. Somebody did a brain scan, uh, literally a brain scan and watched what happened when people read the Bible.

SPEAKER_02

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And it literally rewired their brain.

SPEAKER_02

The cool thing about uh the fact that you just brought up about the word of God being alive is you said, like any other book, uh, you can read it, yeah, and you put it down, you go back to read it, you're reading the exact same story. Yeah, you I mean, if you have a really good memory, you read through it, you know everything that's gonna happen, and it's just uh a fact, like from start to finish, it's gonna be the same.

SPEAKER_00

It's predictable.

SPEAKER_02

But every time you pick up the Bible, you can read it throughout your entire life. That's right. And 20 years down the road, you can read the same scripture, and something new can be real revealed to you.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_02

And that's what God does is the closer that you get in your walk with Him, the more He reveals to you in the scriptures. But the cool thing about it being alive is there's constantly you're yes, you're reading the same book, but there's constantly something else being revealed to you in a new way.

SPEAKER_00

Because it's alive on a different day, you're alive on a different day. Yeah. Uh Hebrews 4, I believe it is the word of God is living, it's powerful, it's sharper than any two-edged sword, it divides asunder the soul and the spirit, joints and the marrow, and it even differentiates between the thoughts and intentions. I've I've meditated on that quite a bit, and I realize the word of God will get down between what I'm thinking and what I intend to do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Everybody's got good intentions, but the word of God will show you what's just a good intention or a thought and what should be acted on. So it is a life, absolutely alive.

SPEAKER_02

It is. So um my question to you as the listener is if someone only heard your words this week, yeah, what would they conclude about your faith? If they were only hearing the words that you speak, um where would they see you in your walk with Christ? And uh I just I'm trying to do this in my own life, not just I'm I haven't been cursing in a while.

SPEAKER_00

I can attest to that, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Um, but even as Ephesians says, let no foul corrupt communication come out of your mouth. Right. Um, just negativity, um tearing people down when in the moment your flesh feels good, like you've conquered that conversation.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But then immediately after, there's something in your heart that says, I wish I wouldn't have done that. That's right. Because I remember uh a message my youth pastor, Steve Stephen Routon, he preached, I will never forget this, uh, about how uh words are like squeezing out a tube of toothpaste. That's right. No matter how hard you try, yeah, there's not a possible way for you to get that toothpaste back into the tube just on your own, without an external source. Yeah. And um whether it be cursing, negative talk, putting someone down, anger, yes, yeah, strife, uh in in your new identity with Christ, those should not be things that you should be associated with. When people talk to you, they they should associate you having your new identity with Christ with love, and that when they have a communication with you or a conversation, that you guys leave the conversation with a new joy and you're you're leaving happy and not in in anger.

SPEAKER_00

And that's what he said that whatever comes out of our mouth should give grace to the hearer, should lift them up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, that's what Jesus did. We we wear the bracelets, don't we? WWGD. What would Jesus do? Well, Jesus would speak words that would lift people, you know. Now he he spoke some pretty powerful words to those that hated him to try to really jar them out of where they were.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, but but a person who belongs to Jesus, he's only gonna lift you, he's only gonna try to make you uh more like himself and experience the abundant life he died to give us. So amen. Amen. Good stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Well, where in your life have you been noticing the negativity come out of your mouth? Um, because if you are a born-again Christian, you know it says in the word of God, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Right. Where's your heart right now? And I want to encourage you that the more that you get into this word that is alive, the more like Jesus that you are going to become. Because Jesus is the word. And I want you to go ahead and pray for our listeners right now. Pray that um they would begin to feel the love and the peace of Jesus, and that they would have this newfound excitement to get into the word of God, to cleanse their mind and in ways that they've wished they could change their language and have failed to, that Jesus would step in, the Holy Spirit would help them.

SPEAKER_00

Amen. The first thing we all have to do is what the Lord said repent. Yeah. Which means uh I love Rick Renner's got a complete session on this word repentance, but it really means a decision. Repentance is even more than tears and sorrow. It's I'm changing what I'm gonna do. Now we can't do that in our own strength, our own power. Takes the Holy Spirit. But we can, a true repentance says, I'm making a decision that I'm gonna go in the direction of God, and then just ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Yeah, that's one of the things Jesus said the Holy Spirit was gonna show us. He's gonna convince us of sin. What is that? Yeah, what is sin? He's gonna show us, and he's so compassionate, and he's so loving, and he's so patient with us. You know, again, some people say the Holy Spirit leaves us as Christians when we do wrong. He doesn't. No, he stays to help us as long as we are repentant toward God, as long as we love Jesus and want to do right. So I'm gonna pray for you today that you just pour out your heart to God. Be honest with the Lord, just be honest with yourself, be honest with God and say, Heavenly Father, I ask you to forgive me for every time that I have said things that I regret, said things that have hurt you, said things that have hurt other people, Lord. Please forgive me. I'm so sorry that I've grieved the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, I don't want to grieve you anymore. Please help me. Cleanse me by the blood, wash my mind, wash my heart with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. And Lord, I make a decision today. I make a decision to move toward the things of God, to read the word of God, to let it bring me to life in spirit, soul, and body. And I give you my heart today because I know it's a matter of the heart. And the more I love you, the more you can work with me and in me, and the more pleasing I'll become. I ask you to do all of these things for me, Lord, and to heal everyone that I've ever heard. And I pray that in Jesus' name. Amen.

SPEAKER_02

Amen. Well, I believe that if you prayed that prayer with us, that Jesus is giving you a new heart right now.

SPEAKER_00

Amen.
