Hello and welcome to the Chain Reaction Motorcycle Podcast. I'm your host, Brendan Maguire, and I am joined by my co-hosts, Mark Dunn, and the one and only Ross McQueid. And together we're going to be delving into everything two wheels related from road racing to off-roading, adventure touring, and custom motorcycles and everything in between. So sit back, relax, and join us for the spin. And we are live, live with our very first introduction. I hope you're all keeping well. And if you are kind of sitting there going, geez, I know that sultry sexy Klair accent, you would be right. No, no, not nobody ever said that.
SPEAKER_01Not about anyone. Nobody ever said that. Ever.
SPEAKER_03Lads. No. So yeah, we said we come on here and do a little bit of an introduction. Obviously, um, for those listening and are thinking, I I do know that fight somewhere, and you know the lads that are talking here, you would be correct in saying we were formerly on the Motorcycle Hour podcast, and uh which is still going, uh and uh we wish the lads the best of luck with. This is a little project we decided to take on ourselves, uh, just because podcasting in general and the kind of the wider motorbike seeing the community is something we're all very, very passionate about, and uh we decided to look at what the hell, let's give it a go and see what happens. Um, so yeah, for those that are not so familiar with us, time for a little bit of an introduction. I think I'll go over to my right hand side first. We'll get the uglies out of the way first. Ross. Sorry, man. I love you. I swear to God, I love you to bet. Ross, we'll go ahead and give us a bit of an introduction, lad.
SPEAKER_02How are you? What's going on? Uh not much. Not much. Living the dream. Living the absolute dream, uh, in our lovely new studio. Beautiful studio. Uh well painted. Um I would like to add, um, there was some savage work done to get this place up on the ro up and going. There was a hundred percent. 66% of this podcast.
SPEAKER_03So, what do you mean say oh don't even start this crap?
SPEAKER_02Somebody said to go to go to go on holiday. But anyway, uh yeah, no, I'm tightly going on. Time is timing. No, delighted to be here.
SPEAKER_03What give us a bit of a background on yourself, Roscoe? You would be the newest to the most.
SPEAKER_02I'd be the novice of Doug, the group here.
SPEAKER_03I don't know, I wouldn't call him a novice anymore, Mark.
SPEAKER_02No, but just in comparison, I wouldn't be a novice in in the broad spectrum of things, but let's say of the three of us, uh, I would be the novice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I would. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02How long are you biking? Uh how long am I biking now? Two and a bit years.
SPEAKER_03I'll tell you one thing now. All choking aside for that, it's only that two and a half years. You've probably done more biking in them two and a half years than some lads have done in two years.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I've done a fair bit now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. First bike, how did you get into biking, Ross? Don't fucking blame me.
SPEAKER_02I'm blaming you. You did, no. You you you were going back on the bikes and you rang me and you said, You're coming uh McQuaid, you're coming with me. And I said, Huh, well, grand. Yeah, you know, it's the most expensive decision I've ever made in my life. And I I even moved countries which wasn't half as expensive as this.
SPEAKER_03I made some very bad lifestyle choices, which you know can be expensive too. But I that's not here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, so no, yeah, but uh Kim, we started biking about two and a half years ago with you, uh, starting on a phaser 600. I remember it well. Bumblebee, as I did call it. The Bumblebee.
SPEAKER_03We I don't know, did you find that on Dundee, or did I find it?
SPEAKER_02Uh we were f we I think we probably bought messages or about the same bike said this would be a great starter bike, wouldn't it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, and it was off a fellow by the name of Stephen Kyo, I think was his name. Multifarnham multifamies.
SPEAKER_02Multi Farnum, yeah, that's some always had some lovely bikes.
SPEAKER_03Uh any bike I've ever seen the man with, to be honest, is very, very clean.
SPEAKER_02So it was absolutely mint. No, I didn't sell it in mint.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, no, no. Three times. Three times.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I remember test riding the bike, and there was not a stitch of a front brake on it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And the front headlight bulb was in upside down. So I was driving it down under a wet kind of a winter's evening. Wasn't a great day, no. Down through multi-farnum, which wouldn't be famous for the best fluid litter roads in Ireland. Let's just put it that way. Yeah. And uh I brought it down and it was running perfect, but I just like great, you definitely need to bleed up the front brakes and uh sort of the headlight bulb.
SPEAKER_02But then I've gone full circle now, and I've got a phaser thousand with no back brakes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but the bulb is in it. Oh, it's actually not actually the bulbs aren't great. No, they're they're too bright. They're too bright, yeah. They're too bright, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I think one of them is gone as well. So you had this phaser 600, and I'm actually asked this because I genuinely can't really remember. It was the Phaser, we went from the 600. What was the next bike you had after that?
SPEAKER_02The thousand. The Phaser Thousand. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then the Harley.
SPEAKER_02Then the Harley. Yeah. Uh yeah, then the Harley. I still have that. And then the Triumph.
SPEAKER_03Then the Triumph. Yeah. There was a KXF450.
SPEAKER_02There was a spurious. We won't talk about that. No, we're not going to talk about that literally. Different toe in the water. That was definitely the worst finding. That was a bad idea. That was a bad idea. I just got I rode a pit bike once for five minutes and thought it was great and was doing a lot of nixers.
SPEAKER_03I remember you coming to me and going, I think I might get one. And I kind of was like, well, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I won't be wanting to put a downer on and put it in the house. But anyway, look, you got out of your system.
SPEAKER_02Got out of my system. Lost a lot of money on it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Didn't lose a lot of money. You lost a little bit.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, you didn't get rid of it.
SPEAKER_03No, I didn't really get it.
SPEAKER_02I got to ride it on the road there once.
SPEAKER_03Oh the only thing I will say is your man that owns it now, he's having a whale of a time on it. Yeah, yeah, fair flag.
SPEAKER_02So you know, look, you know, I in hindsight, it was just a spur of the moment decision. Buy that bike. Ah. Yeah. It's alright. Could be worse. Could be worse.
SPEAKER_03Could be worse. So you have the Could have broken. Could have broken a bike. So you have the Faezworth House now, which was formerly my bike. And then you have the Trion Tiger, which was also formerly my bike. Yep. See a bit of a parent here, Mark.
SPEAKER_02Yep. I'm not buying your trace. I've already said it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no. Early days yet, though. I will. Ten grand. So you came a long way, then you went off and you with thanks to the motorcycle train that he got your full license then.
SPEAKER_02I got my full license, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's the first time? No, second night. Second night. Yeah, but the first time wasn't it?
SPEAKER_02I shouldn't have done it the first time. No, you shouldn't have done the first time. No, it's early. No, it was it was uh bad day. Bad day. I I oh you were rushing and racing it. I uh it was one of those days where I thought I was gonna have a handy one to work because I think me my test was at one or two o'clock or something like that, down on garden. I was working up in Dublin and thought I'd have a grand handy morning and went in and it was just one of those days where everywhere you looked, something was going wrong. Went down, bad frame of mind, yeah, you know, wasn't the best of the weather. I think it was kind of drizzly and everything like that, and didn't ha I had a fellow that's quite notorious as a tester and that it would be fair, strict. Yeah I know who you're talking about, yeah. Exactly. I think a lot of people in in the country would know who I'm talking about, but anyway. Uh I just failed it miserably. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I did tell you to take the day the morning off.
SPEAKER_02I should have done it. Should have. Well, as I said, I thought it was gonna be an easy day. So if anybody's listening to this, don't go to work on the day or test.
SPEAKER_03Speaking speaking of work, do you want to tell the people what it is that you do for work?
SPEAKER_02I am supposedly a civil uh civil engineer. Supposedly, apparently.
SPEAKER_03There it goes.
SPEAKER_02I've been tarnished with that brush.
SPEAKER_03Now, I did see his uh his uh the piece of paper he got from DIT. Diploma. His diploma UCD UCD, and it is written in crayon, which is a bit suspicious. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02That's actually Latin. What does it say? What does it say in Latin? I don't know I can't speak that long. I'm an engineer. I deal with numbers, not letters.
SPEAKER_03Oh my stomach. Right. That's about as much as I can stomach look at. At least now people know who you are. Yeah. Over to the left hand side, the fucking off, you're over. Mark Dunn, give us a bit. Yeah, in fairness, you're probably waking longer than any of us. Yeah. Because he's older. I was gonna say you're more or less twice our age, anyway. We kind of look up to you as kind of our father.
SPEAKER_02Well well, we definitely don't look up to him physically.
SPEAKER_03Not physically, not physically, but we kind of you're kind of like our father. You know, we do sometimes we do say, What would what would Owl Dunn owl done is what we would have got? What would Ow done do?
SPEAKER_02We're aiming to him to have the same haircut as well.
SPEAKER_01Well, look, lads, you've you've you've achieved that. I have anyway. Yeah, and Ross. No, I'm not as positive. Oh lad, go and shave it, will you? I don't need to show it.
SPEAKER_03Just give in, lads. Give in. Oh no, no, it's it's it's it's yeah, show I own shave. Well, yeah. What'd you call it? Yeah. What would you start off on bikes, bud?
SPEAKER_01I started off on bikes, lads. Uh I was probably farding. About uh I was about nine or ten and I bought I got uh Yamha 50.
SPEAKER_03A Yamha what's again is that like a hundred fifty? Yeah, it's a one with the pedals on it. No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_01It was the same as a hundred fifty only Yamaha med. So yeah, I got that. Then I rode that around the field for years, and then bought a DT80, and then I went. D T 80, man, now you're talking. Then my first road bike was.
SPEAKER_03They had like the Y handlebars on it. Do you remember with the handlebar went around and it came down the way, yeah?
SPEAKER_01Then I bought a KH100, that was my first road bike. What a KH100, yeah, absolute ball of dirt. And uh then uh yeah, I had multiple Tsar, one, two, fives, and the rest is history. The rest is history. I've had uh yeah, I've had a few since then. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You've done a fair fair bit of right. Like you've done obviously a good few track days, don't you? That was a phase you went through.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I went through um a good few. What was a good track bike? Uh I had a couple of different track bikes, but um the last one I had was uh I had an R6 for the track. I would have tracked uh I would have tracked a lot of road bikes I had as well. Yeah. Don't mind it.
SPEAKER_03I didn't SR75.
SPEAKER_01I didn't tell anyone uh when I was selling them my track dead. But yeah, that just went down the shopping back. No, no, no, no, no. Uh slick's over there.
SPEAKER_03Oh, don't worry about that.
SPEAKER_01No, weren't Iota? But uh yeah, yeah, I went through that for a good few years, yeah. Um then I kind of uh I had a fairly hectic road crash. Um I uh brought home my lovely J6R K5000 in a done stores bag, what was left of it. Oh yeah, yeah, so I kind of um yeah, I had to think about it for a couple of weeks and uh yeah, I went back doing track tests again and as you do after three months out of work. Do you do much did you break yourself up? Yeah, I made fair bits of my left arm. Uh to see a big scare, yeah. Yeah, but um yeah, look, listen, you live and learn. Um the track is a track and the road is a road, that's all I can say.
SPEAKER_03And you were behaving yourself from tracking.
SPEAKER_01Sure, of course I was, yeah, that's why I ended up on top of my head. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03The road jumped up and grabbed the house.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely, yeah. I don't know what happened. But yeah, so yeah, look, I went down the road of all sorts. Then I um kind of got into a bit of touring uh through a friend of mine, and um I'll be honest with you, yeah. I kind of parked uh sports bikes for the road then at that stage, and I just kind of got the touring bug, got got the travel bug, and uh I've pushed on to that ever since. Yeah, I I I love my sports bikes, don't get me wrong, I love the race and everything else, but for me that kind of chapters closed because probably lack of manners is probably one thing. Yeah, wife is yeah, absolutely, yeah, 100%, Ross. Yeah, um so I just don't I don't dabble in that crack now, you know. So um yeah, so I I do the tour now and I have um I have Harley for my sins as well.
SPEAKER_03Sherlock, no one's perfect. Well, well, who's up?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well now I have I have uh tracer as well.
SPEAKER_03So and come here for the people out there listening, talk about adventure riding. You've done a fair bit, like you've you give us a bit of a rundown.
SPEAKER_01I know Morocco's been there and you've done a bit of your kind of my first big trip was um a friend of mine, uh well Gary Hines, he's coming on a trip this year with us. He had a place out in Morocco or in um where is he? He's an apartment out in Bulgaria at Sunny Beach. Oh yeah. And he always wanted to uh ride his bike out that far. So he had an SX and another guy he made his at a GS and the two boys came up with a plan to ride out that far, but um but they had they were thinking about having to get home then, you know, so all their holidays was going to be gone. So I came up with a brainwave of sh ye ride them out and we'll ride them home for you. So that was my kind of first big tour. Um myself and another guy then flew out to Bulgaria. We rode back, it was kind of Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Germany, France, and home.
SPEAKER_03Boys!
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was it was very good, Jay.
SPEAKER_03On in two days. Yeah, we got it done in nine.
SPEAKER_01All under one tank. Yeah, we got it we got the Nureburg ring in, we got all the big passes in in uh Austria and these places. Did you do a lap in the Nurberg? Oh did, yeah. Yeah. What time do you want to roll Gary Heinz's bike? No, actually it was on Davey Quinn's bike. Oh my god. Yeah, he does, yeah. He's tires now. Yeah, but it was it was great.
SPEAKER_03Very easy where someone else's tires. That's how you do always. Absolutely. Like ever doing the burnout, I'll never do it on me on.
SPEAKER_01No, no, I'll just try and bring your brain for a spin.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, sure, then I kind of that started that kind of ball rolling then, and um yeah, sure. Look, we've been to several different spots since in Morocco. Uh jumps out with me here. We've done Morocco two years in a row. Now we've flown out when we've rented bikes out there, but yeah, I'd highly recommend it to anybody.
SPEAKER_03Morocco is the at the Atlas Mountains?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely, yeah, into the Atlas Mountains. We the last trip we done now was we done seven days and oh it was just absolutely mind-blowing place. It really, really is. It's um it's not a place I suppose you hear too much about because I suppose it's a little bit off the beaten track. Um now look, you don't need big bikes. We just ride to KX300s out there. There was a good well, it was about I think there's seven or eight of us, maybe a bit more, and we had a time of our lives where no health and safety police do not exist in Morocco. I just let you know that now, and it's not for the faint-hearted with traffic and stuff, but once you get out of Agadir, Ma Marrakesh, these places, yeah, it's yeah, look, it's it's uh an absolute stunning country.
SPEAKER_03And I opener too, I suppose. Do you know what I mean? Like you'd open your eyes too, like when you're in countries like that, you know. I always say, like cultures, man. Yeah, I always say like a bit of travel man is is the best education you're ever. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, because you're gonna go on out and seeing anything. You don't appreciate anything. Like watching something on a telly or on a little phone screen or something that never does anything just does just.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, get out and explore and like just see the world. Yeah, see the world, like you know, sure look, we went we the group was went to Spain last year, and uh oh look, it was again absolutely fantastic. And sure look, I've talked uh my two sidekicks into coming this year with me. Oh man. So yeah, we're we're all gonna have a fantastic time. We're gonna get the boat over from Wexford to Bilbao, and uh we are going to have the best holiday of a lifetime. I can't wait.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, genuinely, I can't wait. And I I find myself now even when I'm talking to people about bikes, and I'm I'm always asking the question, like, oh, do you go on any do you ever doing a Europe? Because I love them telling me the story, because then I'm kind of getting even more excited about it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I can't, honestly God, I can't wait. Yeah, and once you do it once, let's I I I'm telling you, I have yet to meet anybody that I don't care what it is, what bike you have, from a C90 to a fireblood, I don't care. If you do a bit of tour and you see a bit of the world, you will never look back, you'll never regret doing it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. It'll be it's like a drug. It is, being honest with you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and like you'll you'll you'll even think it's funny because when you go away, you know, especially I would encourage people, if you are doing a bit of a tour, make sure to be getting out onto the bike on your bike at least a month for the two months beforehand regularly. Like you know, be bike fit, don't go out there and you know just think that you know it I'll be grand. Pull around the shed. Yeah, and walk away. Yeah, no, you know, get out and about and get your bike, get moving around, get bike fit for the couple of weeks that you're going to be going for, you know. Um but you've never met anyone that's gone and come home and said, geez, I regretted riding across France or I regretted going to Italy or regretted going to Spain. That was nonsense. You know, yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, definitely. I think if somebody's like that, you want to just avoid those people at all costs.
SPEAKER_01Oh, absolutely, yeah, because yeah, they just that's uh negative you could do without. You could do without absolutely 100%. And I'm kind of yeah, that's why I ignored the whole Aegis marks remarks you meant there.
SPEAKER_03You may get used to them, ladies.
SPEAKER_01I can I can assure you if there was three pictures put up now, and why bet you any money now? You'll be picked out on crime line. Probably. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry to tell you, Mark, no, you'd be the oldest. Yeah, you'd be known 110%. Brilliant. Um that's Mark Done. I suppose nothing left to do no only top but myself. I hate to talk about myself. I just bought it.
SPEAKER_02So Brendan, Brendan, um uh what's your shoe size?
SPEAKER_03Uh 12, uh thereabouts.
SPEAKER_02Oh grand.
SPEAKER_03That's all we need to know about you. All right, fair enough. Let's sound sound sound. I'm uh I'm not as uh accomplished biker now as Mark. Um probably just a little bit hair spread over in the Rossman clear. I started riding bikes when I'd say I was about maybe 14, 15, I'd say, thereabouts. Um DT125.
SPEAKER_01Oh, good stuff, yeah.
SPEAKER_03An old 1984 DT 125, which was water cool, maybe the Royal Water Cool, I can't remember, but this one certainly wasn't, was it? This one certainly was because you'd ride around the bug there, and the northern mother of god you'd open up the radiator and off. So she she'd overheat. It wasn't a great job, but for me it was freedom. I absolutely loved it.
SPEAKER_01Isn't it mad though, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. When you take off down this bog lane on this bike and you're like, I'm self-propelled here. I'm not peddling this thing. I'm moving without having me to move.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was class. I had a pair of boots. I remember I got a pair of boots with them.
SPEAKER_02Steel door boots, by the way.
SPEAKER_03I actually think I think they were actually our fright boots when I saw them.
SPEAKER_02I look back.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they were long leather boots.
SPEAKER_02Uh pair of uh what's the trousers in the jolpers? I was gonna say, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I don't know what's going on in your head, but this is turning weird. But uh DT125, that was the first one, and then kind of after that, then we had dirt bikes, uh, had uh CR125, I had the one bike I really really regret selling. I had a 1997 Suzuki RM250. Oh yeah. Sab a joke, and we used to yeah, we used to just rip it up on them. Go we used to be down into bogs and we had been known to ride through a couple of forests, you know, where we maybe shouldn't have. But yeah, we totally enjoyed it. These two things happen. Yeah, these things happen. Yeah, and what what about um what was your first rowbike? Uh first road. Well actually, I have to tell one of the story about the dirt big. So we were uh and again, I um I don't care and put it out there anyway, but uh we had I had the we were kind of getting running out of places to ride them because we were kind of getting thrown out a few places here and there everywhere. And at the time there wasn't much motocross tracks, or if there was, we didn't know much about the room. Well, so you wouldn't have had a way to get them anyway. We wouldn't have had much of a way to get them, and uh one of the boys had a Berlingo van and a trailer, and we used to load up the bikes and we'd find somewhere to ride them, and then like this light bulb moment came on our head one day. We're like, sure, the Cora is class. Why does why is there not loads of people riding the cora? It's massive, big flat area. Well, you know what I mean? There's jumps and everything in it absolutely ideal. So we loaded up the bikes, headed to the cora. It was going well until we were on the middle of this button it was we were I kind of like using it as a bit of an adventure tour. We were kind of going, should we keep going and see how far we go? And then we're on this one patch of grass and we were like, Man, this grass is class. Tabletop. Yeah, this is what is a story, it must be different grass. And then I realized I was on the fairway of Godflowers with this big dirty tooth, bing, bing on the 90 door. On the 1900. So anyway, got over there. Well, uh yeah, actually, tell the truth. We seen uh scars at one of the military police sound chappy wasn't fairness's bikes out here, so we did anyhow. So then that was that was kind of the motocross bikes. Think I sold that then to buy my first bike. Well, it wasn't a bike, it was a scooter, it was a Yamha X8R, if you remember. Sorry, a Honda. A Honda X et R, a little 50cc. That was when we were in sixth year in school.
SPEAKER_01We all had you were very up there.
SPEAKER_03I used to go in with my Marlboro fucking. Oh man, all the chicks used to be. I was like a man out of fucking Grease Light and Oh, yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER_02Harley Davidson and the Marlborough man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but I yeah, but I was on a moped, so I didn't.
SPEAKER_01And if people could just realize uh what we're looking at on a moped, you'd understand.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, exactly. Yeah, uh, I thought I was class anyway. That's what mattered. Do you know what I mean? And uh we we we all had mopeds. I I had a Honda. My cousin Ian, he had one as well, one of the boys, Brian Kelleheedy, yeah, an MBKO veter. Oh, yeah, yeah. Um then another one of the lads had a brand new April 50.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that was a rocket.
SPEAKER_03That was a rocket, and then everyone was grand, and we were all kind of equal until one of the boys came in one day with an NSR 75. Oh, so you were all blown out of the water, just blew us out of the water. So that was that. And then uh yeah, so then it was kind of off the bikes for a good few years doing my apprenticeship and all the usual. We're cracked the goes with that, didn't have money, just rooting on dirt bikes. Fast forward, then kind of when I went to I had briefly had a CBR 250. Um the hurricane, the hurricane, a gularm one.
SPEAKER_01She was a beautiful rev 21,000. 21,000.
SPEAKER_03I'd love to have my brother had one, yeah. Yeah, gorgeous bike. Had one of them briefly, went to Australia, uh, done my bike license and all out in Australia. Yeah, I done my bike license in Australia. He never did a license, didn't I done a license? Or here. No, no.
SPEAKER_01So he's never done an IBT. I would say he bought out her.
SPEAKER_03No, excuse me. They actually asked me what I. Each of us out there, but uh actually bought a Ninja 250 out there, one of the newer ones. You don't see too many of a blue one, yeah. Wouldn't pull but it was uh it was uh it was my kind of first legal bike on the road, allegedly over there. Then I sold that I hate the yokes over there, had the XVS 650. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. The XVS 650 had a load of different yolks, came home and then was on the bikes for a good few years here when I came home to Australia. First one was a ZX9. I had bought one of the Gen 1s, bought it off 94, bought it off a shop down in Galway. It was a wreck of yoke, but I absolutely loved it. It was a big sports bike, of course. Yeah, it was class, I absolutely loved it, man. Bought that. I had no triumph dead honors in Australia, had R1s a hit, but if you came home, bought this yoke, it was cheap, had it for a while, sold it. I think. Was that the one I sold? No, I'm actually telling, I'm telling a lie. The first bike I had when I came home here was at the Vill 650. Yeah, I done a deal for lad. I had to fix up he'd an old one of the old 1500 Goldwings, and I said he says, Oh, would you do a set of carbs? And I said, Yeah, no, but I've done hundreds of carbs. Do you ever do one of the Goldwing? No, I wouldn't fucking recommend a base.
SPEAKER_01No, I've taken panels off now. Sweet swing in modern jersey.
SPEAKER_03You get to China quicker than you can hit the carburetor. Runny, I done that, done a deal with him, got to Deville, and whatever way. I gave him a few bob, had it. So I was like, Jesus, this will be great now. Give him money. Yeah. Yeah. I know. I said it'll be a pillar of sense, and I rolled it about two miles down the road. And I said, I stuck I actually think I stopped on the side of the road and took the pictures for Dundeal. Straight up saw the ZX9, uh, which was grand, and then I showed a hip different yorks between now and then and the whole job lot. Do you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just I don't know. Look, look, listen, um, it's funny you go through those phases, don't you? Like, you know, I for years I rode nothing else on a sports bike. Oh, I had a you wouldn't no other bike could even come into your head. No, I wouldn't look at anything that unless I had full fairns and a double bubble screen in front of it. I didn't care what it was, you know. Uh it was funny the way and even clip-ons.
SPEAKER_03My like any of my first sports bike, it was clip-ons. I wouldn't dream of putting it, I'd be thinking it'd spy straight right straight. Yeah, honest to God. And then you yeah, you go over the awkward set of stretch, and you're like, Jesus, this is class. The difference, it just wasn't.
SPEAKER_01Oh, look, I I still I like I was at the racing here last week or the weekend before the weekend before, and uh yeah, you see guys there well into their fifties, still riding sports bikes and they take my hair off to them. Yeah, yeah, um, they must all know really good chiropractors.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. You see, it depends it depends how far it's like it depends how like it's if it's a Sunday morning job and you're heading for a quick blast down the country, sports bikes absolutely 100%. And I still said there'll be a spot in my shed for one. I would like one of the older ones. It's all right. I'd love another K5,000. Would you?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like I'd love to buy a winter one again. Just to have it there, yeah, yeah. Take it out, bring it for a grill spin, maybe in as far as town and back out and uh park her up every now and again. Yeah, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I like I had a K3 for pile the the silver one that that was a nice bike.
SPEAKER_02The one you bought off Dev.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. That was a nice bike. That was a nice looking bike. But then I obviously had the option to trail it again to Harley, so I didn't I wouldn't mind another K3. Yeah, yeah. But a nice bike to have, or a Gen 1 ZX9.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're nice, yeah.
SPEAKER_03They'd be a nice show to have. Do you know what I mean? But look at that's that's more and what have you got now? I've got uh Tracer Lane GT. When in the Terrence Healy one day, I'd tell you, I just be careful if you're going in there or now. I just went in to buy an old filter and come out.
SPEAKER_01Filter filter filter tracer.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, uh yeah, Tracer Lane GT, uh 2019 one. I have to say, I do love it.
SPEAKER_01I think they're a great bike.
SPEAKER_03I do love it, but I don't if I was changing it in next year, which I might, I don't know if I'll buy another one. Yeah, we'll see what happens. I'll see.
SPEAKER_01They're all great bikes. Look at like I I go through an awful lot of bikes up and down, to be honest with you, lads. And uh but they all have their little falls. Yeah, but sure. Look, it's like everything, Ross.
SPEAKER_02No, you're not gonna get something absolutely perfect.
SPEAKER_01Look, I I I really like it now, to be honest with you. My one. Um, but uh I I would I'd struggle to know what I'd actually change it for. Now, Terrence, when the CVs turn up, I will definitely be taking a test spin on one of those and see what they're like 100%.
SPEAKER_03I can't wait to even see one.
SPEAKER_01To see one on the flesh.
SPEAKER_03Because you ever notice that with a bike? You look at a picture of a bike on a magazine or whatever, never does a justice actually go and look at it. In the like I'm f you know, famously saying there is, I suppose, some um what's the word I'm trying to do? There's some so in some cases those the GS 1300 looked at the magazine, thought they were ugly as fuck. Everyone says, Oh no, when you see them in the flesh, they're way nicer. Saw them in the flesh, still ugly as fuck. But that's just me. Apologies. Apologies for anybody being oh yeah, I keep forgetting the Swing, yeah. Whoops, sorry, Bob. But anyway, that's that is the way it goes. Yeah, Harley. Of course, have the Harley of a 2000 AS Harley Softale custom, which I absolutely love. I love it. I swear to God.
SPEAKER_01I love my own Harley as well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. You if you have the uh I'd say one fourteen street bar. Oh, he has to put the one fourteen in it no they asked him.
SPEAKER_01Well, just we didn't ask him, but what I I have to kind of let you know like which model it is, lad.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you didn't have to say anything about the engine size 140. Well, I've viewed him quite.
SPEAKER_02I have the uh very desirable classic classic uh purebred. Yeah, yeah. There's no mess around with this yoke. No messing around with this yoke a Harley White Light. The White Dinah. Yeah, nice yoke. Five speed yoke. Five speed. But before you said that. What's easy? Uh 1450. Is it? Yep.
SPEAKER_03There you go. Yeah, no, it is the 88 cube. Yeah, it's an 80, though, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02No, it's it says 80, but it's 88. I've changed it. Why does it say I'm gonna take a grinder?
SPEAKER_03Restricted, it's restricted. And I, of course, have the the the favourite of anybody that really knows their hardys will say it's the creme de la creme of engines, it's the 96th twin cam. Anyone know it just a lovely bike. If you don't mind small jokes, I mean small, slow. I love it. I have to say, of all the bikes ever had their lovely bikes, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Now Ross's is far nicer now.
SPEAKER_03A hundred percent. Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_01Someone gave it a bit of a lick of a wet no, it's more that and all the parts that were put on the split on. A deep surgery, that's what that thing's happened. I did again intensive surgery.
SPEAKER_03It was like, yeah, absolutely. It was the equivalent of getting your backside bleached, is what I would get minimum. Minimum backside can crack it. But now we'll see how he keeps it. I should look at it. He won't. But anyway, you'll see yourself. I remember seeing you doing the work on it. Oh no, it'll never happen again. Oh no, no, no, it's not.
SPEAKER_01What are you wasteing for? No, it will never happen again.
SPEAKER_03No, he was going to ride at home with the spills around.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but sure, yeah, but sure he's right as okay. He's used his golden ticket now.
SPEAKER_03Golden tickets gone. That's gone now. I still have mine, lad in the back pocket there. She's right there, so she has.
SPEAKER_01And the triumph has to be done, yeah. That's right. I don't worry about that. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03The trust has to be done before they got spent.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Use your golden ticket then.
SPEAKER_03Use my golden ticket. No, I think I'll lose it for the Harley. I'm actually thinking you you do a good bit of ceramic honey and stuff, you use it in all your bikes. I'm thinking of it down that road, man. I think it's the job, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01I would. Well, the Harley. Does it work?
SPEAKER_03Does it does it work on Chrome?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, you can cover Chrome with it. Yeah, now, like obviously, if it's getting hot now and stuff like that. Different story. Different story. But you know, Chrome covers and and say your mirrors and stuff like that, yeah. 100%. Put that on it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_01100%.
SPEAKER_03Well, I think that's as good of an introduction, guys, as we need to make. That's it. I hope everybody has uh is a little bit more clued in now on maybe who uh who we are and what we are. I hope this hasn't turned you off. Um, and if it hasn't, uh keep going there. Episode one is right there in front of you. Have a little bit of listen. Looks like there's a light bulb going off in your head, McQueen. What's going on there?
SPEAKER_02I don't know what's coming through my ceiling there.
SPEAKER_03Alright, something coming through there, is there?
SPEAKER_02I don't recognise those two holes.
SPEAKER_03As long as that is our new studio. So yeah. Look at that's who we are. Uh thanks for listening in, and I hope you can head on over there to episode one and uh yeah, let us know your thoughts. And any uh anybody that wants to get in contact, please do. Sounds good. Thanks willing, lads. Looking forward to talking to everyone. Good luck.
SPEAKER_01Bye bye.
