Soul to Earth podcast
Soul to Earth is a podcast about psychic development, mediumship, the Akashic Records, past life regression, and energy healing.
Most people find their way to this work because something happened that they could not explain. A dream that was too clear, a knowing about someone before they said anything, a visit from someone who died. It happens once, and then you spend years wondering what to do with it.
I'm Carey Kaas. I'm a psychic medium, Akashic Records guide, and energy healer, and I work with clients and students every week, teaching people how to open their abilities and how to trust what they receive.
Much of my work happens in the Akashic Records. The Records are the record of your soul, everything it has lived through, agreed to, and carried forward into this life. When you open them, you can ask real questions and receive real answers, about why a pattern keeps returning, what a relationship is actually about, what your soul came here to do. It is not fortune telling. It is a way of understanding yourself at the level where the pattern was set. I teach people to open the Records for themselves, and to hold them for other people.
Each week I take on something that comes up in the actual work. What a spirit guide is and how that relationship changes over time. Telling the difference between fear and genuine knowing in your body. Past life regression, and what a past life explains about what you are living now. Mediumship, and how you begin practicing on real people. Tarot, energy healing, devotional practice with the goddesses and deities I work with. Attachments, entities, and the questions people are afraid to ask out loud.
I also bring in guests. Teachers, healers, authors, and practitioners whose work I want to learn from, talking about what they actually do and how they came to it. Some of them see this differently than I do, and those are usually the conversations I am still thinking about weeks later.
Alongside that, I bring in research and other people's writing, and I talk about what I am working on in my own practice, including spell work, spirit communication, and channeling. Some weeks it is one small thing you can go try. Other weeks I stay with a bigger question for the whole episode.
New episode every week.
If you want to keep going after an episode, I teach inside The Sanctuary, my membership community, where there are live classes, guided journeys, and other people learning alongside you. You can find it and my private sessions at careykaas.com.

This is the Soul to Earth Podcast. I'm your host, Carrie Koss, psychic evidential medium, mentor, and witch, here to help you explore your connection with the spirit world and discover your own grounded spiritual practice. Welcome to the podcast. How are we doing, everybody? Today I'm really excited about this episode. This episode I consider to be one of the topics that I think is key and foundational as you're learning to build your own spiritual practice, understand your spiritual awakening, develop your psychic and mediumship abilities, and in general help navigate life in a balanced and integrative way, body, mind, and spirit. And we are going to be talking about trusting your intuition. So let's get into the podcast. Building my intuition personally was the defining thing that helped move me into a place of clarity, confidence, and also being able to navigate through the anxiety I felt when I started my spiritual path abruptly. And I have many moments along the way and a lot of things I can share, but I can really remember so many times being able to tap into my intuition in during my 20s. And in my case, and we're going to talk about this, the different ways our intuition shows up for us and how we can learn to build trust with it. But for me, it had a lot to do with hearing and what I call clear audience, hearing that voice of my intuition and also my spirit guides. And specifically, I remember this defining moment where I was making a big decision in my life on how to navigate my next steps, what career direction I was going to be going in, life path, location, a relationship. There was just a lot of things involved. And I was at this pivotal moment. And I remember specifically, I went to, if you're familiar with San Francisco, Golden Gate Park, I was in the middle of like a big storm in a relationship I was in. I had been moving away from the school where I was trained to do psychic work and energy work and connect with spirit. And it was a big time for me to make a decision. And I was nervous. And even though I was someone who was tapping into spirit regularly for other people, when it came to navigating my own life, I did not always trust my inner guidance and my intuition. And I remember specifically hearing the voice tell me, really clearly, Carrie, you need to go to hair school. And I remember thinking, that is absolutely ridiculous. How could that even be a viable path and an option for me? Because I was really connected in with my spiritual work and I didn't see the correlation. And even though it felt so right, what my guides and my intuition was telling me, I just did not trust it. So I lived, and this is a real key thing, which we're going to talk about. I lived by disregarding it for the next year. And in the meantime, a lot of things in my life just started to fall apart. My relationship started disintegrating. The work I was doing was no longer connecting for me. I felt ungrounded and disconnected. That's really important to notice. And also I felt a lot more anxiety again. So I was getting further and further away from my own inner knowing, my compass, which I say that is what your intuition is for, is to help you navigate life. But I didn't trust it. But a year had passed and things were not working out. And I thought I have nothing to lose. And so I followed the path of my intuition. And it has guided me ever since in the major life choices I have made when it comes to career, when it comes to personal relationships, both friendships and also romantically. It has helped me navigate really difficult circumstances that I've been in, which we all go through. And it has definitely made me feel uh clear. I feel like I'm living on my path and connected. So, what we're going to be talking about today are a couple of things, which you would imagine. We're going to be talking about, first of all, what is your intuition? Understanding everybody connects with their intuition in different ways. And so learning to reflect on yourself, how your intuition might show up for you in your life, but also understanding it's an evolutionary process. So your intuition and your connection to it will grow, mature, and evolve as you grow, mature and evolve on your spiritual path. As you trust your intuition more, you in turn will be able to then take bigger steps, bigger leaps. And there's a there's a sign there, right? Because your guides are connected to your intuition. And we'll get more into that in a moment. So why does the intuition matter so much? And why do we talk about it regularly, your spiritual teacher? Is because your intuition is your inner knowing. It's connected to your soul, and it's connected to your soul's path and the design you set out for yourself when you came into this incarnation. And it acts like a beacon of light and a navigation system, which, when you are in sync with it, will lead you closer to the thing that you desire the most, which is really learning lessons, connection with spirit, balance, harmony, and essentially growth. It also does so many more things, which are nuanced and beautiful along the way, teaching you life lessons, helping you develop and grow, really helping you anchor in your spirituality into your everyday life, and then sometimes sharing it with others. So it's our inner compass. It's an invaluable tool for trusting yourself and for a deep spiritual connection. And it helps us empower to empowers us to make decisions without needing external validation. And this is a big thing. This was a big thing for me with trusting my intuition because I was a person who was very sensitive, probably like many of you are, very overly compassionate and got a lot of my guidance and validation externally because I didn't feel a strong enough anchor within myself. So learning to tune into your intuition can help you navigate life's uncertainties with a sense of calm and ease and certainty. And we stopped relying so much on others for validation and their guidance and opinions. So why would you want to connect with your intuition? Just think about those moments in your life where you had a gut feeling and whether it was deciding to take a certain job or maybe go abroad overseas, uh, start a relationship, begin a new experience in life in general. Maybe it's taking up a hobby, something like that. And then everything ended up working out exactly as you had hoped, and even further brought into your life this sense of connection and purpose and joy and alignment. So, how does intuition show up for us? So it can manifest in different ways for different people. And this is the important thing to note because when I start working with clients, typically at first they can sometimes compare themselves to other people who are intuitive or things they have seen or heard. And often they doubt themselves. So they don't even know what their own personal signals are. But some of these examples might be this. You get a gut feeling, which gives you a sense of clarity and guidance. You have a sudden insight, a download, a clarity of something that you should be doing, or an idea comes in. You might feel a sense of peace or calm when you're in an environment or considering a new opportunity. Also, you might get signs in your environment of things just working out, meeting certain people, things just flowing. You might, like I was saying, hear a voice inside of you, or even externally, uh, which will be telling you either a name, a place, or a yes, or there's a feeling of certainty there when it comes to the voice you're hearing that just feels familiar and it's just an acknowledgement. Often our intuition can work in the form of bodily sensations, chills, warm feeling, just a sense of ease and peace. Let's talk about things that block our intuition. There are common ones. And the first one I have to say when it comes to when I'm working with students and clients is doubt, self-doubt. Now, when I have people start to tune in, typically they receive guidance, information, maybe they get visions, or they're even possibly talking to their own intuition or higher self, but they walk away from the session and they start doubting it or second guessing it. And really, this is because we haven't been trained in this culture to trust our intuition. We have been trained to trust logic. And we have been trained to pick things apart. Those things that we cannot see, we don't want to invest in. So if you get a feeling to take off and go, let's say, to Indonesia on a sabbatical, logic might tell you, oh, it's too expensive or things won't work out, or what if you don't meet the right people? What are you going to miss when you're here? Things like that. But you know internally there's something ahead of you which is meant for you. You can't always give evidence when it comes to your intuition. That's the other thing. A lot of it you're building on faith and trust. Fear also tends to be very loud and it makes it feel frenetic, whereas intuition feels calm and steady. So it does take practice learning to differentiate. Now, there is something when you're learning to distinguish your intuition. Sometimes we get an urge or an urgency to do something and act quickly. And that's really where we have to understand. Sometimes our nervous system is on overdrive and it is trying to lead us to do something, not based on calmness and intuition, but based on fear. So there's a thing that I go through with my clients, especially in coaching, where they'll say, Well, I think I want to do this thing. And I'll say, Okay, let's, let's, let's give it the intuitive test. And I take them back to a place where I ask them to breathe and get grounded. And then I have them do what's known as like a gut check or an interior check. And that's why we have to understand our own systems and energy first, as always, because we want to understand what means yes to us. For example, you can ask your intuition or your spirit team to give you a sensation or an experience which is a yes for you. So you will be able to discern when you're getting information what a yes feels like. For me, it's the chills down my legs every time I get the chills down my legs. If it's a no, I feel a sense of blockage. So there's you can ask your intuition and your guides to help you with this. It's another thing that's very, very useful. The next thing that stops us from trusting our intuition is having a very busy mind. Okay. And a lot of people can relate to this. I can relate to this, that sometimes our mind is going so fast and it wants to talk us out of things. And it also makes it harder for us to feel and sense and know what our intuition is even giving us because the uh fear voice is so loud. The other thing is overwhelm. How many of you can relate to this? So for me, especially when my kids were younger, it was it was much more challenging for me to take the time to then listen to my intuition because I was so busy being a mom, working a job, being a wife, my responsibilities, things that I did outside of, you know, for my children outside of their classroom, and things that just kept me going all the time and made me feel like I don't have time to check in with my intuition when when I did every time, and the things ended up flowing beautifully, falling into place because that's what following our intuition does. It makes things just fall into place. It doesn't mean everything is gonna be perfect and the things you're visualizing are gonna work out exactly as you had hoped. I do want to differentiate that, but it does make what is supposed to work out for your highest good come together. And we're gonna definitely talk about how to what kind of questions to ask your intuition as well, because sometimes it's much more based on what's for your best and highest good and your own growth rather than what you think you want. And this was one of my biggest ones, this one in particular, an over-reliance on external validation. You know, as I've gone on my journey for as long as I've been on my path over 30 years, what I've really come to realize about myself personally, which I like to be really transparent about, especially with my students and my clients, is that I was not always this grounded in my intuition. I, in fact, really relied on a more persuasive person outside of me who seemed to know what they were talking about, rather than listening to my own higher self. So this was something that I've had to work on regularly to really strengthen my intuition and my connection with spirit. And fortunately, I've done that. I've put in the time time and time again, trusting my intuition and then now helping others to do the same. And I really understand often the need for clarity and guidance and doing it the right way. It's it's almost like part of our human brain and our ego wants to make sure things are okay, they're going to work out. But really, often what spirit on our intuition is telling us to do is just to rely on ourselves and to strengthen that muscle rather than trying to get it from external sources. We've also been really trained to get answers outside of ourselves, to take the person who's maybe with the loudest voice, their opinion above our own. So something very understandable. We're gonna move now into talking about how to strengthen your intuition. And I do want to point out, please, that I'm gonna be releasing a mini course that you can use for yourself on learning to identify, strengthen, and understand your intuition on a daily basis, which will really help you to strengthen this muscle and to be able to feel much more connected, especially if you're on your spiritual path. Now, the main thing when we're going into a practice, anything like this, is to understand it's practice and that most of us have been trained to lean into doubting ourselves. And we have been trained to disregard what we're getting and second-guess ourselves and listen to other people. So understand and give yourself that sense of ease and gentleness, and that this process is going to take you some time. So that's a really important point. Next, when you're beginning to tune into your intuition, I definitely recommend at first maybe setting aside three times a week for 15 to 20 minutes at a time, learning to connect in with your intuition. Now, some of us have been meditating and have started meditating, and I do recommend that because meditation helps to calm the mind. It helps to understand the difference between your energy and your intuition and your thoughts. And I definitely would recommend downloading my free sitting in the power meditation. This is a really great way of learning to just let your mind and the thoughts it's got churning just relax and not over-identify with them in a really comforting and easy way. And a lot of my students really enjoy it. So feel free to download that as well. And I'll leave the link here in the show notes. But you want to be in a place three times a week where you're gonna allow yourself to just open up your consciousness and your intuition and you're gonna learn to connect with your intuition. And what I want you to write down is just a few little prompts. Okay. And I'll give you some suggestions on how to do that. Now, these prompts are gonna give you insight and information and um gonna start opening up your intuition to run through your awareness so that you can start to create this consistent relationship with it. So, some of the questions you want to think about, I like to say you want these questions to be open-ended. So you don't want to have a question you're gonna ask your intuition at first. That's yes or no. Yes or no puts, first of all, a lot of pressure on you to have to come up with an outcome. Also, your intuition, your subconscious, your guides don't work with you that way. They work with you with it being open-ended, where there's something for you to explore, expand upon, and to be able to have your insights flow naturally to you. And often our intuition is better served when we have an open-ended question to ask it. Sometimes, honestly, when you're going throughout your day and you've built that intuition, and if it's a very certain situation where it's a yes or a no, and you know that it's like, should I go to this party or should I do this thing, you're gonna get a yes or no. I will say that. But when you're learning to connect in and just build that musculature of that spiritual connection, we want to start with open-ended. So we want to write out some intuitive questions. For example, something would that would be good to start is what messages have I been ignoring, right? What messages have I been ignoring? The other one could be, what would my higher self say about this situation? Something that's open-ended, something that helps you just be able to hear the messages, feel the messages, even getting an experience. It might come in the form of an image. It might come in the form of a knowing, it might come from a feeling of well-being. So if you start to do these things, we also kind of call them journal prompts, but it's like a way of checking in and you're building that muscle. The other thing you can do is to start to work with a pendulum. Now, I'll be doing another, probably a class on this as well, at least a podcast on how to use a pendulum. Because I think when you're first starting to check in with a pendulum and you're building your intuition, it's a really helpful tool until you get very clear. And there's certain ways you want to use a pendulum. The main thing is that you want to have your body very stationary, your elbows very stationary on a table, and you want to be able to put have a hand be absolutely steady. And it's good also if you have maybe a piece of paper that's a circle, has a circle on it, and it has yes or no on each side of it. And then you can ask it questions. Now I know I said when you're starting to tap in to get into it intuitive messages, at first, you don't want to ask yes or no. But when it comes to the pendulum, it's a little bit more, it's going right into your subconscious and giving you information. So you're learning to channel it. It's a little bit different than when you're experiencing it in your own, I would say, awareness. So there's two sort of types of being able to navigate that, right? Both of these things are important. So using a pendulum is an excellent tool. And again, three times a week, you're just working on these different exercises in order to open up your intuition. The other thing is you want to just practice stillness a few minutes a day, even if it's 10 minutes. And you can do this through walking, you can do it through breath work, meditation, yoga. Calming the mind and calming the body down, calming the nervous system down is something that's going to really help you in general be able to hear your intuition and sense it much more clearly. I often receive a lot of messages from my guides and my intuition when I'm walking in nature. Also, the shower is another great place. Being near water is wonderful, right? Let's finish today's episode by talking a little bit more about the greater experience of your intuition and why it's so important and helpful to us, especially if we're going through a spiritual awakening. One thing we really want to understand during a spiritual awakening, our whole interior is basically being tossed around and reformed. And the intention of it from a spiritual perspective is to get you in alignment, spirit, mind, and body, and be able to connect these parts. And often what happens is from a spiritual perspective, before you even incarnated, you made a choice that, and it's part of an agreement you have, a soul contract, where you would wake up, where you would wake up to the reality of spirit, of energy, of your abilities, your intuition, and of stay and being connected to your spiritual path in your physical life. And part of what happens during the awakening is our minds just start to feel things like anxious, confused, unclear what to do. And so why it's so important to connect in with the intuition is because it's going to give you that direct pipeline on a very everyday basis on how to move through these experiences and to align you with your most authentic path in the different parts of your life. You know, your soul is immense and it's lived throughout many lifetimes. It lives in a place of spaciousness and of timelessness. And so being able to connect in with it really consistently through your intuition is going to make your life, first of all, on a very clear basis, on a daily basis, clear, grounded, balanced, aligned. You're going to feel much more content. And you're going to, things are going to start to make sense more. When you tap your intuition into when you're connecting with other people, or you're having it navigate your life, or even if you're enhancing it by moving towards something with divination, whether it be oracle cards, tarot, doing psychic readings, doing intuitive readings, accessing your intuition is only going to bring clarity to your life. I hope you enjoyed this episode. I know I did. Our intuition will be something we talk about throughout this course. And be sure that you are checking out as soon as it drops, which it should be in the next month. As I'm making this right now, it's the beginning of October 2024. So it should be dropping in the next two weeks. And if you're not already subscribing and sharing, please do. It would help my podcast out greatly. And as always, let me know if you have any comments or questions. I thank you for your time, and we'll see you in the next episode. Take care.
