We didn't think Spider-Man had anything left to surprise us with. Boy, we were wrong!

SPEAKER_02

Tickets, please. You're gonna be in theater eight on the left. Enjoy the show.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, Jaden. If you could have any Spider-Man team up show up in upcoming MCU movies, which one would you want?

SPEAKER_03

Uh, I think it's gotta be the one that I predicted was gonna be in this movie and was horribly wrong about that. Give me Daredevil. I love Daredevil. I can agree with that. I think the two little Hell's Kitchen Queens little vigilantes need to get together and they're in the red outfits. I want the Daredevil red outfit back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, dude, I'm any of the like the yellow outfit, black outfit, any of the, I feel like they just don't stand up to the red. I would agree though, and I knew you were gonna say that when I asked this question, so I have to switch mine. My answer would be that because I just finished Born Again, so I feel like it's fresh. I would probably say, I think I've heard that um the human torch and Spider-Man and the comic books have teamed up before. Yeah, I've heard they're close. I think that that could be a pretty interesting one because he's a little bit more irreverent and kind of like uh just like has a more cocky personality in like some of the movies that we've seen. Yeah, so I think they could be kind of fun. Like a I feel like it could almost compete a little bit. That'd be a nice to be name.

SPEAKER_03

It'd be like almost opposites, almost, but yeah, you think like the punisher is almost as opposite, but they did pretty well together. So I think the human torch would be a great addition.

SPEAKER_00

Now, I'm also thinking of the Chris Evans Johnny Storm. Not the new one. I don't know. The new one, the character's a little different, so I don't know if it would be I don't think it would be as stark of a contrast.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, if it was the yeah, Chris Evans are that would be fun. I was not thinking that would be the other one who was a little nicer and sincere.

SPEAKER_00

No, the more new in the newer one, he's he's kind of like the nice uncle that jokes around a little bit.

SPEAKER_03

Like the Deadpool Wolverine human torch, and then Spider-Man would be insane.

SPEAKER_00

I wasn't even thinking of that. The Deadpool Wolverine version would be like that's like that Chris Evans was like on something, but that was I was I forgot that he was that he showed up in there. I would think for like severity level of like how how crazy it is, it's the new Fantastic Four. Um, then it would be the old Fantastic Four with Chris Evans and then Deadpool. Like it kind of ramps up.

SPEAKER_03

It's like 100% that last one, the last tier there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and then there's also the movie that shall not be named, the Fant Four Stick version. Yeah, that we just brought that up.

SPEAKER_03

It's kind of like the game. Every time someone brings it up, I remember it and I get disappointed.

SPEAKER_00

I'm kind of depressed now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. Let's not let's not talk about that.

SPEAKER_00

So, uh, to get us back on track away from Fantastic Four, uh, today we're gonna be talking about Spider-Man Brand New Day. Very fresh film. It's opening weekend as we're recording this. Uh, so we're not really gonna get into like how well the movie's doing, uh, in accordance with any Rotten Tomatoes scores, any box office scores, uh, money that's been brought in. We're just gonna have fun and talk through the movie. So we're not gonna get two in the weeds with a lot of the statistics. Um, but Jaden, what initial thoughts do you have after watching the movie? Uh, technically, we finished the movie today. We got yeah, today, this morning at 2 a.m.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we went to the 11 p.m. showing at B Theater. Um, let's start by talking about the atmosphere at the movie theater. That was insane. I don't think I've ever seen even when Spider-Man No Way Home came out, almost everyone there was wearing some sort of Spider-Man merch. I saw like all these families wearing Spider-Man t-shirts, all these friends wearing Spider-Man T-shirts as well. And it was just kind of you could feel the anticipation walking right into the building. It's been a minute since I've seen a movie that's kind of had that kind of atmosphere. I don't know about you. Can you think of anything like that?

SPEAKER_00

You know, I think the only memories that I have of there being a lot of hype was probably pre-Infinity War and Endgame. Because I remember going to like we would wait in line for some movies super, super late at night, and there's a ton of hype when you're waiting in a line for a movie opening night. Yeah, that just I just feel like that doesn't exist nowadays, and there it's not the same. I think that's because of streaming services, because of like all the accessibility. But to your point, there's even cheering in the theater, and there was like even after what I think it was after Tom Holland did his intro before the movie even started, and then maybe once during the movie, and then after the movie.

SPEAKER_03

So, like there was it was it was a rowdy crowd, it was a very fun though for 11 p.m. at night. It was a very rowdy crowd.

SPEAKER_00

11 p.m.

SPEAKER_03

People were still on it, so I can only imagine what theaters across America would look like.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, if you get a big theater in like Chicago or something, people probably going crazy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that would be insane. I so just adding to that, like the atmosphere alone just helped build that anticipation, that eagerness. I was already looking forward to this movie for months now, and when it was finally coming around this week, I know you and I were texting, our buddy was texting us. It the anticipation was building, and getting there at night, sitting the seats, I don't think I've ever wanted previews to be done sooner. Like, I was like, Oh, come on, give me that next one, give me that, let the movie start now. And so the anticipation was there, the atmosphere was amazing, and then the film came.

SPEAKER_00

So, yeah, I think that's a good place to start because if you're planning on going to this movie, Spider-Man's just a fan favorite. Yeah, even if if you like Marvel or not, you can easily get on board with Spider-Man. So if you want to go, go soon because the movie's phenomenal, first off. Um, but it's also the vibe, like you're gonna get all the fans in the building, opening weekend, the first couple of weeks, and then it'll start tapering off a little bit. But that's probably gonna be the most fun for you as a movie goer to interact with that. So I think that's a great place to start. Um, but to get some general thoughts on the movie itself, once the previews actually stopped and we got into the start of the movie. Did you did you have any um I don't know, anything overall that you want to like hit on before we get in the weeds on what we think about plot and characters and all that, just about the overall movie?

SPEAKER_03

I think just sitting in that seat and seeing the screen come up, I was immersed right away. Like I was ready for the story. I felt like it left off almost right where No Way Home sort of ended. We were kind of like right in that situation. It was really easy to get into. And when we saw him, I believe the opening shot was him at his desk. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think he was kind of sitting there. Oh, I'm trying to remember. Yeah, there it was basically a montage almost at that beginning.

SPEAKER_00

It was it was no, it started with like I'm Peter Parker, and it like it was like black screen, and then it goes right into uh like it he's reading the the letter. Oh and then that's like the voiceover. So the voiceover underneath is him reading the letter, and then the rest of it is the montage of I mean he's at the desk for some of it, he's fighting villains for some of it, he's he's all over the place. So I don't necessarily I can't necessarily remember what the opening shot is.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was a fantastic scene. It really got me engaged. I was thrown in right away and immersed, and I thought that that the montage kind of helped us to feel because ultimately it's like four years of his life that's captured in this montage as he's watching his friends go to school. I I assume they're freshman, sophomore, senior. So um, we see all this time unfold, and you can just feel the busyness of Peter, all the beatings he's taken, um, kind of where he's at at an emotional level, right out the gate. And I thought that was amazing. Joyce, dude.

SPEAKER_00

The first thought that I had after the movie ended was the first now. This is me estimating, I don't know an exact amount of time, but my estimate is probably the first 20 minutes of the movie is perfect. I loved it, and the reason is it felt like a comic book.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And I don't know if like you would feel the same. The the coloring of like just the the lighting choice, like some of it almost felt like Gotham City kind of vibes, other parts felt like um it like even the way that the characters were costumed, like even seeing Tombstone in his like classic style, um, seeing uh Scorpion, seeing what I think it was like Boomerang, Tarantula, like a couple of the like more B-level characters were like showing up. C level, yeah, probably maybe even less. But seeing some of the like a lot of the comic book characters in not fully comic book costumes because Scorpion's not a comic book costume, he is his more modernized. Yeah, I was very satisfied though, dude. It was so good. I was I think to your point, it hooked me in right away. I was I felt into the world of Spider-Man immediately, like there was no hesitation getting hooked in. So I was very satisfied right at the start. Yeah, your comparison to a comic book.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't think of that until you said that. Like, that is genuinely how it feels. That's why it flowed so well. Like a comic book flows well. This movie, the intro. I knew you were very excited about the intro. You kind of mentioned that earlier. Yeah, it was like a comic book, it flowed extremely well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and we saw the I believe this was in the intro. I could be mistaken, but uh the first edition, uh, the first comic book for the amazing Spider-Man had him carrying that one guy, and they showed that one shot with him carrying the guy. It was like uh almost like a slow motion, almost exactly like that was super super slow-mo, but it was very clear callback to the first Spider-Man comic. Yeah, which I yeah, once again, satisfying. Like, I think actually, I think I told you that word. I think when we left the theater, I was like, I was satisfied, yeah, which I can't say about a lot of superhero movies nowadays. 100%. So I like what The Batman was one that was really satisfying. What were some other ones recently that like it kind of hit the limit of like I don't have made like any major, major, major problems that I left the theater, like that movie kind of sucked.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Um, I mean, my mind's just going back to I mean, Infinidors, one of my favorite comic book movies of all time, and honestly, like everything after that put include Endgame in there. Um, but like after Endgame, I think really Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 was pretty good. Volume 3 was good. Um, I've only seen that, I only saw that once in theaters. That was um a while ago. I really did like Guardians 3. Yeah, I can't really think of another movie between here and then. Well, I mean, I've rewatched all the MC recently, so a lot of it's in my head, and so that's why I'm really clinging to Infinity War, but um I thought Thunderbolts was fun, but was it the most complete movie? I wouldn't say so. Uh I think this was a very, very big breath of fresh air. For sure.

SPEAKER_00

Because even like I would say the whole Spider-Man, I can't even say trilogy now because there's now quadrilogy, yeah. Something maybe just franchise, right? Quadrilogy. Uh yeah, maybe just franchise, but like um, because even uh Far From Home, No Way Home, like a lot of those, like I was pretty satisfied with a lot of those. Yeah, but this one it kind of hit a different level of satisfaction because overall the movie felt very separated from the Avengers, whereas I think Homecoming felt very like clinging to the Avengers, whereas like, and not even just like him as a character, but plot-wise, it felt like the plot was relying on pre-existing characters, whereas this one felt very independent, and then also we have the Punisher coming into the scene, we have Hulk, we have um Gene Grey, we have all these classic comic book villains, we have the the new suit which looks great, yes, um, and that has a more classic feel with like the the shiny kind of blue-ish like look to it. So I would say that it it felt refreshing because we have a classic team-up, we also have some very iconic fight scenes that we've seen in the comics, characters from the comics, but there's also obviously some unconventional and some new uh characters like Gene Gray coming into the picture as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think that's what this movie did so well. Uh, I know a lot of my friends love small scale Spider-Man stories. That is what this movie is. It's a small scale Spider-Man story. He's in New York the whole time, I think. I don't think they ever leave.

SPEAKER_00

No, I don't believe so. I yeah, I think it's only in New York.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and so um even the characters that are new that they introduce, they develop them very well. It's not like, oh, here's a five-second cameo of someone thrown in here. Now they're gonna fight with this huge team. Kind of what I get from the Doomsday trailer. But uh um, like the development of these characters, yeah, like Peter's been around, Tom Holland's Peter Parker's been around, MJ's been around, Ned's been around, the Punisher has his own series. But Gene Gray, brand new character in this iteration, developed very well.

SPEAKER_00

And the department of uh damage control, um, their whole structure and organization, I thought was developed very well in this movie, which that was an interesting part because we they we knew that they were there in Homecoming because you you see the whole sequence with a uh was Adrian Tombs, is that his name? The Vulture, whoever plays the vulture, or whatever the character's name for the vulture is. Um, but they give a little bit of a background, but this gave a completely different edge to the whole company than I thought. I thought I did not think that they were gonna play that significant of a role in the movie. Like I definitely thought it was just gonna be like, oh, they're just another government building getting attacked, and then it was just gonna end there. So that was a surprise to me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so I think like just generally speaking, this movie was paced well, developed well. I don't I didn't feel rushed with this. They really, unlike I would say some of the MC movies that have come out recently that might feel a little thrown together, maybe lacking in some CGI departments. Um, they took their time with this one and they really set up the characters and they really set up a story that wasn't building for a new movie. And I feel bad already. I don't know if we mentioned, but this is a spoiler. There's there'll be spoilers here. Yeah, but uh you should know that. But um yeah, I thought this one as opposed to what we've seen lately, it's the cream of the crop, it's at the top for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah, I think that this gave me a little bit more hope in the MCU, and I think every Spider-Man movie that they released is probably kind of the whenever I get sad about how crappy MCU movies have been, then like a new Spider-Man movie comes out, and I'm already a big Spider-Man fan, so even if the movie sucks, I'm gonna love it uh for some reasons, but every time it like decreases and then Spider-Man movie, I'm like, okay, yeah, the MCUs might be back on it, and then it decreases a little bit and then gets back up. Another Spider-Man movie. So I'm hoping we're not on a decline, seeing that we have Doomsday on the horizon, which I'm still a little skeptical with. I'm not gonna judge any trailers, but yeah, I'm only only watching the one trailer and gonna wait and see what happens from here on out. But yeah, overall, satisfying, fun too. I think that's an important part with superhero movies. It is fun, yes. Um, but I will, yeah, I will say there it was a more unconventional approach when it comes to the antagonist. So which I'm still trying to figure out if I liked it or not. Yeah, I I don't know. The movie was great. I'm just trying to think through was was that what I was I don't it wasn't what I was expecting, so I don't know if I'm a I'm a huge fan or not.

SPEAKER_03

So let's kind of let's kind of unravel that a little bit. Let's get into that. Um starting kind of while looking at the the characters, let's start with Sadie Sink as Gene Gray. What are your initial impressions, your thoughts, how did that go?

SPEAKER_00

So, initial impressions for like first off, she did not do a bad job in the movie. Sadie Sink did a great job. I thought that they developed the story well. However, it feels odd because Gene Gray and Spider-Man don't really have that much crossover in the comics. Like it's not like they're basing it off of an original story of anything that is already kind of laying the groundwork. So for me, when I saw that, I automatically kind of felt like they're only using this to set up for X-Men being in the MCU. Because we saw the Doomsday trailer, we know that X-Men are in there, so it's not not a surprise. So I almost the only thing that I kind of wish they would have shifted to was because they are have already alluded to it in the Doomsday trailer. Why couldn't we have had like Craven the Hunter or the Chameleon or um Hobgoblin or any of those like really classic villains that are have some phenomenal stories that you could go with that like especially if it was Craven, we might get a little grittier kind of movie with that, which the Punisher would aid to, having the Hulkin would aid to like a lot of those would really support it. So I don't think they did a bad job because I always love a movie where uh the superhero does uh like anybody, the superhero has some weaknesses, which I think uh Sadie Sink's version of Gene Gray really brought out because we see her get in his head a lot, which dude, dirty move with MJ. By the way, I actually thought, like I will say, I was fooled by that scene. I genuinely thought it was like, oh no way, like she actually knows who he is, like this is awesome. That felt like to use the word again, it felt satisfying because you're like, Oh, I want that, and then it wasn't. I was like, man, then they ripped it away. Dirty, yeah. So I will say the the care the build-up to all of that. Um it was really good. Like, I I can't really complain with that. It it is a little odd though, because Gene Gray did at the start, I was like, this can't be Gene Gray, because I know that the people were speculating on who she's playing, and then in the start of the movie, I was like, Well, she's only hopping like a little bit. Like, Gene Grey is way more powerful than that in the comics and any of the former X-Men films. So I think that the route that they went with that, having her kind of underpowered and then getting back to power almost helped some of the mystery a little bit more because it wasn't 100%. I was I was doubting myself because I was like, ah, I can't be. And then I was like, maybe it is though, uh for up until Sadie Sink was revealed, and then I'm like, okay, for sure, it's Gene Gray, like there's no way, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's something that's interesting. That's like one of those fan theories that I heard about, and I was like almost a hundred percent sure it was gonna happen. Like, I couldn't think of a single other character in the MCU or any Marvel whatever that she could potentially play in a Spider-Man movie, and so when I originally heard that, I was like, it has she has to be Gene Gray. I don't know what her role is gonna be. I was very surprised to see her be the main antagonist for the majority of this movie, but I wasn't disappointed by that.

SPEAKER_00

Like I thought they introduced her well, and that's why I'm a little like torn because I'm like, I wasn't disappointed. It just makes me feel like they're setting it up though, yeah. Which I don't love when franchises do that, when they add a character just to setup when they have so many good characters to pull from and it's like set it up in their own movie, or like have a Gene Gray solo film, which would honestly probably be insanely good. This was almost kind of like that.

SPEAKER_03

It kind of was which they use.

SPEAKER_00

Which is why I don't know if I love it. Yeah. Because I love a solo Spider Man film. Like, honestly, I just love solo films of characters because you get so much more out of them, but then there's the side of She like pushed him out of necessity to level up as a superhero. So because of that, I'm not disappointed because that's like good character development there. But yeah, so I'm I'm torn. I don't know what I think. I I don't hate it, but I don't know if I'm like a raving fan about it.

SPEAKER_03

That could be a hot take. Some people might attack you uh for saying things like that, but I don't think I disagree with you. Yeah, like if you take Gene Gray away from this movie, there's not really a villain. Like you have the minor ones like Scorpions, but he really didn't do anything. And like I it kind of puts maybe the government, the department of damage control as the main villain, which that's okay, but she is obviously a large part of this movie, and like if you take her away, she's no like Green Goblin, there's no Mysterio, there's no one really to defeat. They just kind of reconcile and it's almost yeah, like they're setting up for the future of the X-Men.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, which is like I was recently talking with a buddy, and I I agree with his thought. He's like a lot of these movies recently, these superhero movies have ended with like, oh, we just become friends. And I'm like, and that like it's villains are defeated by the power of friendship. And I'm like, I I don't disagree with him because when you look at a lot of these movies, like even the end of this one, it's like it's kind of true, yeah. And I almost want the big battle scene, which we still kind of got, but like I want the big battle scene, and then the bad guy goes to jail. Like, that's like I don't know, because that's like it feels more satisfying, and um, you almost feel the sense of like I want justice, like that kind of like that vibe when you watch like watch a superhero movie. Because like when I watch Batman movies, it's like super satisfying.

SPEAKER_03

Like you kind of into a pulp, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Joker game getting destroyed by the Batman. So I don't I don't know if if you agree with me on that, but I that's kind of yeah, maybe a little bit more of a nitpick, but I I kind of wish it was a classic villain so that we could have some of that finality in the end and not just like a resolve that like draws out to further further movies.

SPEAKER_03

I understand that 100%. I was also surprised that nothing was alluded to in like a mid-credit scene or even a post-credit scene, like nothing with this specific story was alluded to. They kind of showed the ending and then no setup for the future, which is kind of nice. I mean, we already have Doomsday coming out, but yeah, it would have been nice to see some of those more classic Spider-Man villains even make a I I mean, I guess we have the Scorpion um minor appearance in there, but but he was he actually I can't remember the actor's name, phenomenal actor.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it's seeing him breaking bad and better call songs, yeah, dude. Like he's a great actor. I actually wish he had more screen time as a character because dude, I think he would do a great job.

SPEAKER_03

So Gene Gray's Scorpion was portrayed the whole time, actually, but then the scorpion was not portrayed like at all. So that's kind of something like I don't I thought might use him in the future, but like we really I mean, he's an amazing actor for portraying Gene Gray's Scorpion, but then there's no regular Scorpion, so we don't really understand that character at all. So even then, that's Gene Gray, not any of the other Spider-Man villains.

SPEAKER_00

That is a good point. I didn't even think of it that way. That most most of the screen time, except for when he was in the DODC building, like where he was being held, everything else was pretty much Gene Gray talking through him. Yeah, so I yeah, I just the first 20 minutes was really satisfying with seeing so many comic book characters, and then I felt like they're like, okay, that fills our quota, and then they wanted to move on to their thing. Yeah. So I think they did a good job with their thing, but it was just maybe not what I was hoping for. After the first 20 minutes, I was like, okay, we finally got it. Like, um, like we're going back to the Toby McGuire kind of era of superhero movies, like where it feels very classic.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, let's let's look at Tom Holland as Spider-Man, um, not only in those opening 20 minutes, but throughout the whole film. Uh, how do you think his performance compared to his other roles as Spider-Man throughout the MCU? And do you think he's kind of growing as an actor? Or do you think he was portraying the other versions as they were supposed to? And this is just a very more emotional Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I think Tom Holland has for sure grown as an actor. Not that he did a bad job because and he was acting as a teenager. Yeah, so I think that there are certain levels that it's like if it looks awkward, that actually probably helps the character feel more like a high schooler. Uh, but I think he's definitely grown more because what's probably been 10 years or more since he's been as Spider-Man. 2016 or something, something literally 10 years ago. Yeah, so I think in 10 years of acting, and he's been in many other movies, in addition to that, with just being in the Odyssey, having been in just like other roles, I can't remember right now off the top of my head, but um he's had a lot of reps over 10 years of time where I think that has really helped him to fill fill in this role a little bit more. And I think he does a good job. I think he's fun because he still has that youthful kind of dynamic that Spider-Man has to have. But then I just I love like the witty nature of what he what he brings, the um the fact that he was a gymnast previously, I think does help the posture and the way that Spider-Man looks as he's doing certain actions. Like I I think he does a great job. I I enjoy it. I know some people, like they're diehard Toby or Diehard Andrew fans, that I think they all have their strengths, but I'm definitely not complaining whatsoever about his performance in this movie. Like, I I I felt great with how he did and filling into a more emotional Spider-Man movie that he didn't feel out of place with some heavier themes of loneliness, of trying to seek like love and friendship, and like trying to even just brute force without those. So I think I think he really did a great job. Uh, whereas I think 10 years ago, I don't think he would have in this role. Interesting. I think I think his Spider-Man in this movie or like Tom Holland 10 years ago in this movie, I don't know if he would have filled this in as well.

SPEAKER_03

That's a very good point. Yeah, I kind of look back to Homecoming, and I think he does an amazing job playing that version of Spider-Man, a younger Spider-Man, brand new, still very nuanced, doesn't really know everything that's going on. Like he does that perfectly, and then that turn in No Way Home, once he starts to see that almost darker side, I could feel that, and now that's more fully expressed in this movie, and I agree. I thought he did a great job. Uh going on to our kind of continue with the characters. There was a lot of positive chemistry between multiple different characters in this movie. Um, some examples is Spider-Man and MJ, Spider-Man and the Punisher. Um, which relationships did you enjoy seeing the most on screen? And maybe which do you wish we had more of?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's good. I I really did like the Punisher Spider-Man team up.

SPEAKER_03

I was hoping.

SPEAKER_00

I thought that was great. The fact that you have a optimistic, somewhat innocent character paired with a gritty killer, essentially. Gritty killer. Like it's because their morals combat one another, and but they're also like working towards the same goal, which is cool. Like, and I think I think that was just it was fun. I I think that the dynamic was good, and then also having and you just recently finished The Punisher 2, yeah. So it's like um, I think it's funny how they toned him down.

SPEAKER_03

They had to they had to tone him down to PG 13. Made this an R-rated Spider-Man movie. I would love to see that.

SPEAKER_00

I wouldn't be opposed to that though, they would never do that, but I don't think they would, they would lose so much money because they wouldn't, kids wouldn't go to it and stuff, yeah. But yeah, I I think that was probably the best on-screen relationship. Um, and just kind of two characters pairing together um every scene that the Punisher and Spider-Man were in. I was like, this is great. The Punisher is so funny, dude.

SPEAKER_03

He's funny in his TV series, but in this one, he was especially hilarious. I love their interactions every single time. I was hoping you'd mention those two. What about like a relationship? I know obviously, I think we both love Peter and MJ, Spider-Man and MJ, their constant back and forth throughout the movie. Is there any other relationships that could be Spider-Man and Gene Gray or Spider-Man and Ned or Peter, vice versa, that you think you wish you saw more of would have loved to see maybe grow.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I don't I don't know if I don't know if there was. I I think that okay, similar vibes to like La La Land. You really, really want them to get together, and then you're just like are kind of dissatisfied. Like, so I think that there's almost that with Peter and MJ, like you really, really want them to get the get together, but you just you still leave, like not knowing if it's gonna happen. So I think that maybe it would I would just I don't know, like everybody wants to see people reconcile and like get like reunited from a former relationship. So I think that there's a little bit of that where you're like, oh, so good. Like right before No Way Home, or is it yeah, no way? I keep getting a mixture of as it ends, like their relationship is great, and then he sacrifices that relationship for saving the world, as superheroes do. And I I think that because of that, you just almost desire for that to be the outcome. So I think that's what I would say. But I don't know if you have any thoughts. I don't know if there's any additional ones that I can think of that I really wish that there were more of.

SPEAKER_03

No, I I agree with that. I'm glad they didn't take the easy way out and just make, oh, everything's fixed, true love's kiss, and they're all back together again. And um we look, we might talk. I mean, we could talk about this now. Like Ned at the end. Um initially, like I kind of felt that was more muscle memory when they were doing their handshake. Um, I don't think Ned just 100% knew oh every single thing about part Peter Parker. I know there's some prop maybe disagreements out there, but like I think when he said Peter, it was almost like that, oh, they're gonna start to regrow that bond, or maybe there is still a little something left in his mind about Peter Parker, just with that muscle memory um handshake that they can kind of build into. But no, I'm glad they didn't take the easy way out and they're like, Oh, this big problem that ended the third one. Oh, instantly fixed in the fourth one. Like that's true, it it would feel like a cop-out, kind of. Yeah, and they I I can get that. They could have like easily done that to set up doomsday or whatever, be like, oh, this is how we want them to be in doomsday. Let's just end it instantly in this movie. No, it might take some time, and so it might take the next Spider-Man movie, which would be amazing. Hopefully, we get soon. But I know, dude, if we could have one a year, that would be great. Then we'd probably start to get to that fatigue of terrible movies being released.

SPEAKER_00

I'm probably taking the time, but yeah, that's true. Because if they space it out, they take the time, they make it good. Yeah, and now, okay, going back to what you were saying about Ned, dude, I'm even more confused now. I was because my first thought was he remembered him, and your first thought was, oh, he just recognized him as like, hey, like Peter, like we should, dude, yeah, we should hang out. But I was now I was reading something that in the comic books, this plot that was taken in No Way Home with Doctor Strange making people forget the ident like whoever is the identity of Spider-Man, all that stuff with everybody who knew who knew who he was. The the remedy for that, so in that original storyline, it was everyone forgets if they Peter can choose who remembers. So, like, let's say if he let MJ know, she would recall everything in the past. Like, she wouldn't just it wouldn't just be like him revealing his identity for the first time, it would essentially unlock all those other memories and then open it up. So we don't see that happen with MJ in the movie. She's like, I do not remember you, yes. But then at the very end, we see Ned saying, like, have the muscle memory, and like he's tracking with the handshake, and then he's like, Peter, and so that's why I'm like the movie kind of disproves that thing, but then in the end, it almost makes me still question like maybe they are doing that, and maybe it like takes time. I don't know, yeah, because because he actually like wait, okay, so Spider-Man, she find Ned finds out that Spider-Man's name is Peter. Yes, when when he's going out the window, MJ and Ned and then he's just remembered that Peter, so he might just be realizing like, wait, you're Spider-Man. Yeah, maybe he's realizing that connection. That might be the connection actually makes more sense. I forgot about that.

SPEAKER_03

Was a very isolated singular scene where she's like, Be careful, Peter, as he goes out the window. Yeah, and then they dap up, and he's like, Oh, Peter, you're Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_00

That might be what he's recognizing because it made a lot more sense.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't think about that before. I was thinking he was just like, Oh, what's up, dude? Like, we just did a sick handshake. I know you, but maybe with that muscle memory tied in. I don't know. I was that was a great way to end the movie. Like, that was like hopeful. It wasn't like some big Easter egg, but it was like boom. Like, I don't know. I felt hope. I was like, Oh, for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Bring Ned back, man. Bring back the guy in the chair. Yeah, dude. We need I actually okay. So you mentioned what your question was, we want what relationship do you want to see more? I honestly just want more of them building Legos. That was so satisfying. Like, it's like I if I wouldn't change anything about the intro, I wouldn't change anything about that scene where Ned and Spider-Man are just building the X-Wing in the apartment.

SPEAKER_03

Dude, that was so cool, bro. And like, I don't know, maybe it's little things like that, how it's gonna help unlock his memory or something. Because they build like those before, then they have their handshake, they um started doing the same skit. I don't know exactly, I forget what they were quoting. We saw this at 2 a.m.

SPEAKER_00

But um, I can't remember. Yeah, they had a back and forth of like uh quoting something, I can't remember what it was.

SPEAKER_03

So it's just really nice to see that added to the film. I thought it was just a very joyful experience seeing their friendship kind of budding again. So oh, for sure. Yeah, I really liked that.

SPEAKER_00

So now transitioning from a lot of the characters and what we love, didn't like, what would change, and um I had a couple of questions for you about the story. Uh just overall story. This some of these might branch into a little bit of the MCU as an overall, but uh most of them are gonna be isolated.

SPEAKER_03

Shoot, let's see.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so I mentioned this before. So Tony Stark is not a prominent character, the Avengers are not prominent in this movie. We have east like kind of short cameos from some of the characters, but what do you think that not having a lot of those characters does for the plot of this movie and just Spider-Man himself in the MCU?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, so Spider-Man's obviously not like an original founding member of the Avengers in those first whatever ten or so movies. Uh, he was introduced kind of in the middle of the MCU. So I maybe a hot take. I think he's one of the last, like with Thor, like almost original characters that we just love seeing on screen. And not seeing those new Avengers and all those new individuals in this movie, I think was refreshing. I think they kept, although there is a lot of big names, they kind of kept the characters small. There's really just interactions between three or four people kind of at a time, whether that's like Punisher, Ned, MJ, Spider-Man, throwing Gene Gray. Those five, six people really just are the ones interacting together. And so the fact that they don't have all these big names just thrown in this movie is something I really appreciated. It was more grounded story. I think that's what's been missing from the MCU. We have all these big space battles, we have all these big fights that um the movies are specifically made to set up Doomsday. This one felt isolated. I think that's kind of why I'm getting that breath of fresh air is not having all these big characters. Obviously, Tom Holland's amazing as Spider-Man. Um, he's a staple, but that really helped the storyline, I feel.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's not like you have 10 massive characters in one movie, or like in endgame in Infinity War, you have like 30 or 40 massive characters. Like it doesn't the scale feels a lot less, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Scale's a lot less. I do appreciate the interactions in Infinity War and Endgame. For sure. But these ones just being like genuinely, it was really just those five characters that were talking the whole time sprinkling a little Bruce Banner, sprinkling the head of Department of Damage Control. Um, but really it's just those five. So I thought that was really, really I hate to reuse it, but a breath of fresh air.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And so you even mentioned this that a lot of movies are a setup for other movies, like how some movies just feel like a setup for Doomsday. How would you feel like this? How does this one set? Does it fall in that category or does it not?

SPEAKER_03

Uh, I think it definitely does not. I feel like the only thing that really set up Doomsday might have been that post-credit scene of just Spider-Man being in space or something like that. Um, they obviously did set up Gene Gray's character. I thought they did that pretty well. Um, although once you take her out, there's not really an antagonist um of the movie. But in terms of setting up to the MCU, like we genuinely don't know what's gonna happen with Spider-Man next. Um, there's I know people are looking at the cast list for Doomsday, they're not seeing Tom Holland on there. Nobody thinks Spider-Man's gonna appear in that movie. And after where this movie left off, it's kind of ignoring Doomsday, I would say. It's really staying grounded in Spider-Man's world, and I think that's really that's a really nice way to leave it off. It leaves room for speculation. He would I be surprised if he appears in Doomsday? Maybe, maybe not. That wouldn't surprise me at all with all the people that are appearing. I don't think they might save him for what is it, Secret Wars.

SPEAKER_00

Um to follow, dude. I even have a secret wars comic. I don't even know if you saw that. Uh I have comics on the table, like Spider-Man once. I have a Secret War comic, and dude, that storyline is really good. So I think if they if they were essentially gonna say we want Spider-Man to have a more minimal role because he's gonna be more heavily in Secret Wars, I I think I'd be fine with that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I honestly I think that's where they're going because maybe they were very uh lenient or didn't put a lot of those Easter eggs in for Doomsday. The only character I could see that would probably have a bigger role is maybe this version of Gene Gray. I don't know if I think she will any of the X-M other former X-Men, but even then they could save her for like the big savior of secret wars, and so um yeah, I don't know how Doomsday is gonna go. I don't know how close they're gonna play to the comics, but this this plot, this story, very small, very minimal, and done very well.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, now let's talk about the ending, okay? Did you leave feeling content with where the last part of the movie finished up? With where Spider-Man ended up, with where the overall plot landed. Let's just I want to hear your thoughts on all that. And so not necessarily like the last two minutes, but probably like the last maybe 20 to 30.

SPEAKER_03

Sure. Um leaving the theater, I felt like a starving fan who wanted more. I was like, oh, give me all these these new setups. Give me show me where what direction this is going in the future. I want, I want, I want a cameo or something like that. And now I am very glad they did not do that. I am very content. With how the story ended, I think that the past couple movies um may have had some issues because they're tailoring to their fans. One thing I've seen about is John Krasinski as the uh Reed Richards and uh in uh Doctor Strange, the Multiverse of Madness. Like people were calling for that online, and then once we got it in the actual movie, I thought it was terrible. Like, I don't think he was a great actor in that role. I feel like to be fair, that movie just wasn't the greatest movie of all time. But I feel like because people were demanding that so much, and then we actually got it, it was disappointing. And so I think where this movie left off, I agree, like it's kind of a weird comparison, but Lala Land fits perfectly. It leaves ambiguity. You don't know what's gonna happen to these characters next. You don't know where they're gonna go, are they gonna be in Doomsday, or are they gonna do another Spider-Man story? I was now after thinking about the movie content with how it ended. I think there's room for any direction they want to go in, and Spider-Man's starting to build that relationship with Ned. I think that's really important. We got the Punisher introduced, we already talked, maybe Daredevil will come back. I hope I love these smaller scale Spider-Man stories, and with that being said, I think I'm content.

SPEAKER_00

Now, I do really like where Spider-Man as a character ended up because I think there was some dissatisfaction with the his Spidey sense in previous movies. Yeah, they also make fun of it where it's like, oh, the what they call it, the Peter Tingle or something like that. And it's like they make fun of it, and then you we really didn't see his spidey sense until uh the end of Far From Home was like the first glimpse that we got at with Mysterio when he like was about to shoot him, and then he catches the gun and like moves. You can't fool me anymore, man. So and then we see some of it like in a glimpse throughout there and like him identifying stuff, but dude, the scene with the hand and like him catching the blade with his uh with his organic webs, and then the scene with the uh nin like the ninja stars going past his head. I always love a good Spidey said scene in a movie. And then I do think too, because Spider-Man is a very, very powerful character. I like I think a lot of people don't realize this. In the comics, he holds his punches, yeah. Like we see Andrew Garfield Spider-Man saying how he stopped pulling his punches. So I think there's a level of that where we haven't really seen a an OP Spider-Man that dials back. We've almost in the MCU had an inexperienced Spider-Man who is gaining strength, and I think that hopefully we might see that in the future of like he has to make a decision how he uses his strength. And I kind of like that. I kind of like if we get that direction, which it seems like we're going there, um, with how it all ended with him leveling up to the next spot.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, now that you mentioned homecoming, I'm just wondering if the director forgot he had the power of spider sense and they had to fix it in like far from home, because like we never see yeah, his spider sense until far from home. So I I've always wondered that. That's a question that we'll probably never have answered, but like if the director just kind of ignored that because he should have had it when he was with Tombs potentially in the car before they even revealed that he was the vulture before he opened the door, he might have been distracted, young love and all that. Yeah, I don't even know. It just doesn't I'm just wondering if the director kind of ignored that aspect and they tried to correct it in Far From Home, and then ultimately I think the first time we see is like hair stand up on his arm was in Infinity War. That's true.

SPEAKER_00

We get glimpses, but it's always just hair standing up, it's always like it's almost uh react like uh reactionary instead of like proactive. Like it's it's almost like he's like, I think something's happening instead of like I know something's happening, we find this is what it is reveal in no way home when he's yeah finds Green Goblin.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm glad you brought up that fight scene because I was gonna ask, what are some of your favorite fights or sequences in this movie? I'll kind of preface it by saying if you really think about it, there's not that many fighting scenes. I feel like there's a lot more dialogue between characters, and I'm okay with that. But when the fight scenes came, they came hard, and they were good, they were good.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I would say for sure the top fight scene was okay, and I need to specify not just Spider-Man versus Hulk, but Spider-Man versus full blown Hulk. Not the first version where it's like tame Bruce Banner hybrid. Yeah. Spider-Man versus the he looked like he was 12 foot tall Hulk. Yeah. Insane. Loved it. That was I was almost a little disappointed if it was just gonna be the Bruce Banner version of Hulk, because I I don't I haven't told you this. I watched the first episode of She-Hulk recently, and I it's not as like cool as seeing the Hulk in the original Avengers, yeah. Like that feels more out of place in She-Hulk than it does what we saw in Spider-Man, where it is pure rage and the unlike the uncontrolled nature of it, and man, that was probably the best fight scene. And the sequence where you have Spider-Man, Punisher, and Hulk all fighting each other was great. Loved it. And I that there's so many things in this movie where I'm like, that feels like it would be in a comic book, yeah. And I think that's what gave me so much joy with watching it.

SPEAKER_03

Angry Hulk is the best Hulk. Take notes, Marvel. That is so so satisfying. I know a lot of MCU fans, a lot of Hulk fans. Um, my friend's dad, huge Hulk fan. He has not been portrayed accurately in any real movie, except maybe the incredible Hulk. Um, but people, you know, kind of push someone off. I'm not gonna say it's that bad, um, just because they changed the actor mid-MCU. But yes, Angry Hulk is scary, and they portrayed that. They made him big, they made him tower. There's like one shot. I'm not sure if you're gonna mention this one later, but where Spider-Man's like on the ground, and then Hulk just keeps growing bigger over on top of it.

SPEAKER_00

And he even identifies it, he's like, Whoa, you're pretty big. Uh I can't remember what he says, but he says something to that effect, and man, dude, it's even the the facial features of Rage Hulk are so much different than the Bruce Banner, like endgame Hulk, like that kind of version. And dude, when I saw it keep evolving, I was like, Oh, we're gonna get it. This fight is gonna be phenomenal.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I want to see this movie again to see the Hulk's true face again, but I don't think there's like any Mark Ruffalo. No, it's different. Classic one, you can see it like the whole time. This one looks like the angriest, least Mark Ruffalo slash Booth Brandon and I think it's even more so than the OG Avengers movie.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, way because I I think he is bigger, I think he is like to your point, the facial structure does look the least like Mark Ruffalo. And I but then it also like we get a short stint of that, and then he recognizes, so I think he like brings it back in a little bit, but it's still that was great. Yeah, I don't know. Did you have a like another any other favorite fight scenes that you had in the movie? I the Hulk one's the one that's that I'm gonna be able to do that.

SPEAKER_03

Uh I'm trying to think back to the beginning. This movie is weird, like we just saw it, but like I need to comprehend it. I need to see it again. There's so much stuff in there. I gotta, I gotta agree with. I don't think I can even think of a second one. I think the Hulk one was just insane. I would love to see this Hulk that is in this movie go against Thor in the arena on uh that would be crazy. I I think this might be he he's a little angry little fella.

SPEAKER_00

Now, I this is one thing that I wish for Doomsday that they bring this Hulk in there. In some way, they have to. If they keep bringing back Banner Hulk, I don't really love it. Like it's just it doesn't almost it doesn't scratch that itch, you know? Like it doesn't it doesn't feel like how you expect the Hulk to be. So yeah, I I just man, we'll see what happens. Dude, that'd be great. Like if we actually get the OP Spider-Man, OP Hulk, uh, we get Thor back to like crazy level. Like I think that Thor says he doesn't like his odds, but come on, man. Just get angry Hulk and honestly get banner out of the psych ward that they put him in or something.

SPEAKER_03

Were there any uh other shots in the movie uh or scenes that you really appreciated?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I thought the so there's this one sh there's actually a couple, a couple of these shots, which I appreciate a lot because it was the one where it's in it's really close to his eye. It looks like the camera's inside the mask.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So they actually falling. They shot that in camera.

SPEAKER_03

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I mean, not they added some CG for the mask part, but they actually had a camera that close to his eye, and they had specific lenses that would work for it. So even little things like that, or camera moves like in the final fight scene where it rotates when he hops on the ceiling. Oh, yeah. And those things I really appreciate because I feel like it immerses you into the character a little bit more, into what he's experiencing and what he's feeling, more than if you just have your standard shots and the camera isn't immersing into the character, the action, the development, like any of those things more than that. So I I thought it I thought those were really cool. There were some really fun shots throughout the movie.

SPEAKER_03

I think my favorite is this is like a very low-key one almost, but when he's on the steel beam and then it flips upside down, you like you you see he's upside down, he's hanging over the like on the steel beam on the skyscraper. He's like sitting, is that right? Like he's it looks like he's sitting up and then it like flips up and he's up like upside down. Like that was that almost gave me like a little bit of like I don't know what you call that, like when you're about to fall, like a free falling almost. Like that felt cool. Like that felt like a cool Spider-Man shot. They're taking more I feel like something underrated with him is his ability to stick to surfaces. Like, I don't feel like we see him crawling as much as like we did in maybe Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, where he's actually crawling up buildings. We see him stick to surfaces, but I feel like he's mainly swinging. So that was just cool to see him kind of stick in underneath. Kind of reminded me of Across the Spider-Verse with Miles and Gwen upside down on the yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I forgot about that. Like, is it the ending that one of the ending shots, or is it a starting shot of the second one?

SPEAKER_03

It's like a starting shot of the second one when there's like visualizing, yeah. So I really appreciate that. I thought that was just something that made me smile for sure.

SPEAKER_00

There were a lot of those moments, and as a big as big Spider-Man fans, I think that those moments create a lot more longevity as a fan and creates a little bit more trust in the people who are writing the stories. So I feel like movies like this make you excited for Doomsday or Four Secret Wars or for any of the solo films that are planned to be uh released. Um yeah, I just think it brings a little bit more excitement, plus shows like the Punisher, Daredevil. I mean Punisher was Netflix, but like the new Daredevil seasons, or the Punisher standalone film, or those things, then I'm like, those are pretty good. Like I actually really like those. So there's and then movies like this bring you a little bit more hope, and I don't know, just I want to see more of this world.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I do what you're saying. Yeah, that's really cool. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Now that both of us have described a lot of our thoughts on the movie and given you a lot to chew on, we're gonna go into our lightning round of questions and go back and forth a little bit, but I'm gonna have Jaden start that section off for us.

SPEAKER_03

Sure. Uh let me look here. What is the best Tom Holland Spider-Man suit now that we have this one from Brand New Day in his arsenal?

SPEAKER_00

Oh it's kind of hard to think about. It it is, but I I think I I have I have two, and I'm gonna d tell you why, but I I I'll for sure give you an answer of one. So the two I'm thinking of is the prototype suit. His homemade one, but that's also because I made the whole prototype suit while I was in high school. So I think it's just really, really cool. And I think a lot of those prototype suits are just fun because that's when they're just the Spider-Man as a character is like figuring out like who he's gonna be and what he's gonna look like. But then I would say this this one holds up to as another one that I would really, really like because it feels less like Tony Stark and more like Spider-Man. A lot of the other ones, the spider is more geometric, it's more technology-based, it has more tech inside of it, which I think is cool. Uh but uh it feels more like the Iron Spider for all of those than it does Spider-Man for the suit. So I would probably say this suit would probably be my favorite, and I would say the same for any comic book based suit. So, like Andrew Garfield, great, like great rendition of the suit. The lenses are huge, they feel like the character. The but this one, even though it saw as the mechanical lenses, it uh it just feels more like the comics.

SPEAKER_03

I can't picture, I don't have all the suits in front of me right now, but was this like a practical suit, like an actual one? Because one thing I noticed was you could see his ears under the mask, like you could clearly see his ear shapes. I don't think any of the other suits really do that. I feel like it's more rounded off. I could be mistaken, I would have to look at his original Tony Stark suit, but this one felt just I don't know. I just love that aspect. And I don't know, maybe they all have ears, but may I just like ears, man? But like I could actually see it looked like something you could wear to Comic-Con. And I know a lot of people like you know, try and make it more circular by putting like a dome under the mask to help your face shape, but it looked like it was just right on his face. I thought that looked very cool, and it would make sense because he doesn't have any of that Tony Stark technology, it's just the suit that he made with a fancy showing machine, and so now that's I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I because I know practically a lot of them have face shells underneath it, no matter if like if you have a sharp jawline or not, usually you have a face shell to like keep the structure of the head looking the same. And I'm assuming that this is all of them had practical versions of the suit because I know you've seen behind-the-scene photos from all the all the movies, and he's wearing an actual suit. So it's probably just a different face shell underneath it. I don't really don't know though.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you'll have to we'll have to pay attention to looking because those ears look cool. I'll go over to you.

SPEAKER_00

Those ears look cool. All right, so okay, if you could have the suit of any Spider-Man MCU villain, MCU. Oh not Raimi and not so no Toby, no Andrew, nothing, just MCU villain. Which one would you have? Only the suit, not the powers. Only the suit, not the powers. Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Does the green goblin come with the mask? Because he destroyed it in no way home.

SPEAKER_00

So I would say no, because he because he destroyed it. I would say you get what you get with it.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. That's interesting. I think I gotta go with Mysterio. Okay. Mysterio is one of, if not my favorite, Spider-Man villains. I thought, first of all, Jake Jalen Hall did such a great job. I feel like far from home, so criminally underrated. But Mysterio, I just love the look of his costume. And I the fact that they didn't really shy away from that in the MCU rendition just made me so happy. When I first saw the trailer and I saw that Mysterio suit, the they call it the fish bowl head and all. Yep, that is just fantastic. I mean, I think that's it's eerie. I love like the smoke behind it. I think it's so cool. Um, gotta go with the Mysterio suit. That's a good answer. Uh, next question I want you to explain this in one or two sentences. So think carefully. Do you think Hulk should get his own solo movie? And while you think, I'll just kind of share that I feel like the MCU shies away from solo Hulk movies. He's great in like Doorwagon Rock. They had that kind of swing and miss just because they changed the actor with the incredible Hulk movie that came out. But do you think the Hulk is an interesting character enough to have his own full movie? Because he was great in this one. Do you think the fan base is there? Do you think just a couple sentences? Would you want a Hulk movie?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I would want a Hulk movie, but I would want the MCU to go the route of a psychological thriller or maybe even horror. I would want to see like that side of it. That would be crazy.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't even think that avenue almost like in the eyes of someone else as Hulk's rampaging around.

SPEAKER_00

Or even as well, because there's a lot of psychological stuff with him of like, I mean, they even say in like the Avengers, like the other guy. Like, I almost want that to be, and he's in a psych ward now. I almost want him to be like the movie starts with him in an interview at the psych ward in like a strait jacket, and he's like retelling these stories from when he was starting to be the Hulk. Bro, Mike Parker up, make Parker director. So I'm just saying, I think I think that could be a good one.

SPEAKER_03

I would not have thought that route. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. So that sounds interesting. Yeah, that sounds like the way to do it.

SPEAKER_00

I think I think they have the setup for it right now, and I think people would pay the money to go see that.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because it's unique, it's unique, it stands out from all their other films.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Hulk's such a unique character. You can't do funny MCU, stereotypical funny movies like with him, like in Thor's. There's serious scenes, but like Thor's a fun character. But then if they want this rageful Hulk that we saw in this movie, yeah, they'd have to change their formula a bit. Oh, 100%.

SPEAKER_00

All right. Now, still kind of on the Hulk thing, my question is would you rather fight the Punisher or fight the Hulk as Spider-Man? As Spider-Man. So not as you, but uh, would you rather fight the Hulk or Punisher? Both of them are pissed. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Um, I'll preface I think Punisher might be easier, but if it's a not in the same room kind of fight, and I'm trying to find him, he probably knows where I am. He's probably aimed at me right then and there. And we saw in this movie, like he doesn't miss unless someone's got the spider sense. Oh, so I'm gonna go the route of the Punisher. I thought that was a funny moment, and I'm gonna fight the Punisher. I remember when that's bold. You just want to avoid the Hulk, don't you, man? He's like, Yeah, pretty much, or something like that. I forgot about that.

SPEAKER_00

That is good.

SPEAKER_03

No, I would take the Punisher over the Hulk, and I think any sane person would as well. That's wild, dude. Okay. Um, so I kind of answered this question in the beginning, but this is actually the lightning round I had for you is what superhero do you want Spider-Man to team up with next? If any.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, yeah. So I would agree with you 100% Daredevil. Um the there's already a setup, there's already connection in the MCU with I mean, technically Daredevil and Peter Parker, but still Daredevil and Spider-Man. So I think that it's realistic, but it would also be great. So that I would probably agree fully agree with you on that. I don't think the MCU human torch would be as cool uh of a team up. So I don't know if I would necessarily hold on to that as being realistic.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So that's probably where I would land with that.

SPEAKER_03

I think that if Marmal wants to do it, any team up with Daredevil or the Punisher again, that's gonna be a nice grounded story. That's what the fans want to see.

SPEAKER_00

And if it's all three of them, I'm not gonna complain.

SPEAKER_03

So now time for our signature topic. I think this is an interesting one. Last week, when we reviewed the Odyssey, we ranked our top five Christopher Nolan films of all time. This time we're going to shift it up a little bit, switch it up a little bit. We're going to do a NFL style draft of MCU Spider-Man villains to build our own Sinister Six. So for those of you that don't know, um, this is gonna be snake draft if you don't play fantasy football. One of us will go first and pick one, and then the second person gets back-to-back picks, and we're just gonna go through. We have 12 total MCU villains that Parker and I established, and we are going to draft a team to fill our sinister six. And before this aired, Parker, or before we started recording, Parker and I already rock, paper, scissors, Parker won. So Parker, do you want the first pick or do you want the back to back second pick? Second and third pick.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna I think I'm gonna do first pick. Okay. I know it's a bold move because you get double picks right after, but I really want someone. So I'm gonna go first.

SPEAKER_03

I think we know who it's gonna be the tinkerer. Go ahead. Probably take him off the table. Yeah, I'll take it.

SPEAKER_00

No. So okay, my first one is gonna be Mysterio. Oh, what? Yep, dude.

SPEAKER_03

I had Mysterio fall into the fifth round, man. What the that's wild, dude. Nothing like this is me being genuine. Nothing would have prepared me for that. I would have loved Mysterio. I would have taken him later because I didn't think you would take him right away.

SPEAKER_00

No, I see. I was worried you were gonna take him right away, but I think he I think he was a very strong villain in the MCU. So that is insane.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, I desperately wanted, but I would have let him fall. That's crazy, bro. I don't even know what the NFL comparison would be to that. I have no clue. All right, so you had your first pick, I get the second and third pick. This is who I thought was gonna go. Number one, give me Green Goblin as my first overall pick.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like Green Goblin was a weaker villain in the MCU compared to the Raimi movies, though. But I will say, still great.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'll say, yeah, I would probably say he's weaker, but of the four main villains in Spider-Man, he's definitely probably top two. Uh, so I'm taking Green Goblin second and third. Oh, a lot on the table. Go ahead and give me another classic in Doc Awk. I want Green Goblin and I want Doc Awk on my team. Those are good. Those are good picks. I I have no complaints of those picks. Alright, so Parker, you get the fourth and fifth pick in this draft.

unknown

Alright.

SPEAKER_00

I gotta look at the list and see what I'm working with. Tinkerer is still on the table. Uh, he is still on the table. I'm glad you mentioned that. No take back. I think I'm going to go. Man. And these are these are also hard because they're MCU versions.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we never really established the criteria. I'm not necessarily going for best. I'm kind of just going for who would put up a fight against Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Okay, now so I'm gonna say this. Now everyone's gonna probably freak out with this one. Uh, but I'm gonna say Venom, and we established that Venom did make an MCU appearance.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my goodness. That's okay.

SPEAKER_00

Now there's 13 on the list. So no, we had that on the list. Oh, we did? Yeah, we did. Oh, I think you may have just missed it. No, so Venom did make a very brief appearance in an end credit. So I'm gonna say Venom. I don't think this Venom is as good.

SPEAKER_03

That's a steal. That's a steal in this. I think it's good.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's good. So I'm gonna go with Venom. Uh and you know, I I think I'm gonna go with I think I'm gonna go with Electro. Solid. I like Electro. I think he didn't really have that much screen time, but Electro with the Tim's, I feel like is a is a good that's a different version of Electro, man. Electro with Electro with the Tim's and the MCU is pretty good.

SPEAKER_03

Don't scuff his Tim's, bro. We would always talk about Tim's, bro. Don't scuff my Tim's. Alright, this guy's fallen to me. I'm just gonna go ahead and take him. Star of Homecoming. Give me Vulture. The star villain of Homecoming, I should say. So I'll take Vulture. Right now I've got three on the docket, three left. I get another pick. Go ahead and give me Go ahead. I give me the lizard. Give me the lizard. I'm taking out a lot of you gotta take out a lot of the classics. I think it's a building, Sinister Sticks. So those are four on the board. Parker. You have back-to-back picks for your fourth and fifth selection.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, well, I'm I think I'm gonna leave you with the Tinkerer. No. Go with Scorpion. Yeah, I was gonna take Scorpion. Like I said earlier, I think the Scorpion has a lot of potential in the MCU. I think he's a good villain. And I'm gonna go with Sandman. Yeah. You gotta take off. I feel like classics are first.

SPEAKER_03

All the all the A-level supervillains are now probably gone. We're left with some B tier, maybe lower. Alright. With my last two picks, I've got one, two, three, four down. I have two left, and then Parker has one because he's starting. I know who I'm gonna get. Yeah. Well, I don't know if you do. I do I think on my list I have the hand as a Spider-Man villain. I did not counting.

SPEAKER_00

No, I don't think we put that on there.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. I had him on there.

SPEAKER_00

No, because we had Venom instead of the hand.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's who we had instead of the hand.

SPEAKER_03

We get rid of the hand. I'm gonna go ahead and take the five seconds of screen time. Give me Tombstone. And then Pablo.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. I will say though, in the five seconds, that was a more comic book accurate version of Tombstone. I didn't really get a grasp of his face. Like it looked bigger. Or it looked like so. I mean, in the comics, like he's um he's a grueling guy. Yeah, like he's just a he's a big guy with superhero strength, and he works for the mob. So I think I think that's a good pick.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. So give me Tombstone and should I should I take Brock Purdy in the Tinkerer? Or should I take Jordan Love as the shocker? I'm leaving it up to you. Yeah, give me the shocker.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_03

I remember from the Lego games.

SPEAKER_00

If you ever played Lego Marvel, do the classic shocker series.

SPEAKER_03

I like the classic. Man, I wish I could have paired him with Electro, but you took him. So that leaves Parker.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, but I don't know if I would want to pair him with Electro. Really? You know? Too much electricity? I think so. Too much spark for you. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Too much energy on that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, too much, a little too much spark. Let's recap our teams. I I gotta say, why I'm content with the Tinkerer. Yeah. He I I feel like there's so much more tech in all of these superheroes. So I think he's gonna help me with Scorpion. You can definitely make you something. I think he's gonna help with a lot of that. So I'm not too heartbroken, but uh it's not great.

SPEAKER_03

So let's go ahead and recap our teams for the audience. Uh Parker, you want to start? Who do you go for it? Yeah, give me your list. So I have Vulture, Shocker, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Lizard, and Tombstone.

SPEAKER_00

And then I have Mysterio, Electro, Sandman, Venom, Scorpion, and Same of the Best for Last, the Tinkerer.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. So those are our six Sinister Six teams. Go ahead and leave a comment down below who you think wins. Uh criteria could be all yours. Coolness factor, who could actually beat MCU Spider-Man, especially now with his new powers. Um, yeah, go ahead and leave that in the comments below. Also, if you have any questions or any other discussion topics you'd like for us to talk about, go ahead and just drop that down and we'll take a look at it. So, with that being said, Parker, I think that comes to our final question. It does. It is time to ask, would you tear the ticket, Jayden? Uh I was a little hesitant leaving the theater, like I said again. But after saying through, no, I'm obviously gonna tear the ticket. I'm gonna go see this movie again. I think I appreciate the Odyssey just a little more for reviewing pleasure, but no, I gotta see this movie again. It's a nice, well-grounded, beautiful film.

SPEAKER_00

Now, I wouldn't, I would agree. I 100% will tear the ticket. I already have plans to go with my wife and tear the ticket again. So I'm already planning on tearing the ticket, but this movie just definitely scratched the itch. As a Spider-Man fan, I am a sucker for all the movies, so uh I'll probably tear the ticket and then also watch it when it comes on a Disney Plus again. So I yeah, there will most likely be multiple times for me watching the movie. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So if you're a Spider-Man fan, if you're a Marvel fan, if you're a movie fan, this movie's for you. Parker and I would both agree. We'd tear the ticket, and you should too. And with that, I'm Jaden. I'm Parker. And this was Tear the Ticket.
