I guess when you we're creeping up on almost ten years together. Six years married this year. We got married in 2020.

Well, we started dating November 2018. November of 2018. So almost eight years.

I did not. No. That was that that was the year that we stocked that big old frigate, those two bucks.

We bedded them down and we stocked them for like 1,500 yards.

Yeah. That was cool. That was a cool hunt. Even though I missed, but to my defense, my dad had me shooting that big red gun. I don't even know what caliber it is.

I had I drew out my first year after Hunter Safety. My yeah. So I drew out that year. And and then I didn't draw out. I went with my dad when he drew out a couple years later. And we got one down that year. Me and him.

So we laid deer down like 50 yards off the trail. We were literally like driving to go wal like hike. And we saw like a herd of deer. There was a little forky bucket.

Well, yeah. But I remember when Maisie got her first deer tag. And I was like, I'm going. I want to go. And we were up at the Taylor camp, which is over on the boulder side. Anyway. And we jumped some bucks. And buck fever set in like you wouldn't believe it. And it's me and my dad. Yeah, me and my dad are behind her. We got everybody with us. And there's a little two-point running up on the hill. And I'm like, right there. Like, there he is. And she racked one in it as she was running to go lay down and shoot because she needed some rest. She needed to rest. She racked one in it and shot the rock right in front of us. And my dad was like, oh my god. And I'm like, put it, just calm down. So I got like right behind her, and it was everybody behind us. And I laid her down on this rock, and I was like, he's still standing there. Just put it behind his shoulder. She freaking smoked him. But it was World War III before that.

It's way hotter than 60-something degrees. It's not even it's 10 33. Anyway, Mace called me because Grandpa Sam has a skunk problem.

They're getting in his chickens and stuff. So he tried to live trap 'em. And he live trapped a squirrel and left it in the cage because it died in there for skunk bait. But then he said asked Maze to call me to ask where all the bait was that I buried when I was a kid.

I can't believe that he remembered that.

Me either. He thought he buried a skunk. He did, but it was when I was 14, it had been like 10 or 15 years prior, and his dog was digging on this lid in the ground. And he was like, what the heck is that? So we dug it up, and it was a mayonnaise jar, like a gallon mayonnaise jar, a glass jar.

Oh, a glass jar. I was gonna say a plastic jar.

The lid had just barely rusted through, and the dog smelt it under the dirt and started digging a hole and then found it. So she was like scratching the lid. We dug it up, and he had been looking for it for years. He couldn't remember where he put it. And there was a black sludge in the bottom.

Oh, it was foul. He dropped an entire skunk in there, and you know, 10 or 15 years go by, it just turns into this black tar. Oh, you could smell it from Heather and my dad's. We would go, we would take that and go trap coons, me and my buddies.

And you would like dip a stick in this stuff. And the boys will remember this. And you'd set it back there on your set, and you'd, you know, get your trap ready and put some wax paper on it and put some dirt on it. We caught coons every day off that stuff. So then we started making our own. And I buried like four jars with birds and squirrels and who knows what. So when he, if he gets a metal detector and tells and goes where I told him to, he'll find some new bait.

That is, that is uh bizarre behavior. I feel like there's some old trapper in me. I don't know. We're well, it was it was awesome. We we were catching so many raccoons at one point that Wyatt Dutton was like, I want to go. And we're like, dude, this is you've never done anything like this. And we get up to this spot, and there was just sagebrush knocked down in like a five-foot circle, and in the side, hiding, was this raccoon, and I'm not kidding you, this thing was like 25-30 pounds. No, and it was hitting the end of the chain, and it was freaking and why it was like, You guys is crazy, and we shot him. Well, then that night we're like, oh dude, you gotta go call him in with a spotlight. It's like the funnest.

It's pretty freaking scary because they don't stop, they just keep running that. So we got my dad's ranger, which is just a single seat, and it was me, Wyatt, and Kyle, and we set the Fox Pro out there, put it on raccoon fight, and in the dark, it is like frightening, and you're sitting in the pitch blackness, and when you start hearing something, you kick the spotlight on, and there's two of them just running right at us, and we had shotguns, and Wyatt jumped up on the seat like a little kid and crawled into the bed of the ranger and got on top of it.

But it was fun, and if we didn't do that, then we hunted a lot of squirrels. Like Afton had a he had a Mazda car called the Silver Bullet, and it burnt oil like you wouldn't believe. Like when you started it, it just smoked the whole high school parking lot out. And we would go down past Turnabout and hunt squirrels after school, and we would cut their tails off and put them on the antenna to keep track of how many we had. And we it was gross, it was disgusting, but it was pretty sweet to look at, you know, for kids. And then we would pull into Jesse's driveway and his dogs would just go nuts because the antenna was covered in all these squirrel tails, so we decided to get rid of them.

They were super good on the maintenance crew because I was walking a lot every day. They're not my favorite boots to splice in because they're like moving boots. They're not fun to stand in.

And I have like three Ryobi batteries that I can't even charge because they just quit working. And you have to spend like the batteries like the most.

So I yeah. I'm gonna say tools, not even knowing from experience, other than I use name brand tools at work, and they work. And they've worked for years and they just continue to work. Like I have the same set of drills that I started with, and they're used when I got them. So those are five things that I would I think are worth the money. Yeah, absolutely. What about you? What are you five things? I feel like this is gonna be a lot of clothes and shit. Like a pile.

And I finally noticed that there was a freaking spike head on the back of his pack. Yeah. He packed like a front shoulder and the head out.
