Welcome to the second episode of Off the Court. I am your host, Philip Paul. I might drop the Paul. That is my middle name, but we might just keep it at Philip. Either way, we're here to talk about sports, all kind of sports, and or all kinds of sports. And uh as you see, rotating over here to the right, hopefully my right, your right, your left, whatever. Those four logos right there. That's uh the women's pro baseball league that I happened to stumble on last weekend. I was watching SummerSlam. SummerSlam just finished, and I'm flipping through, and boom, there it is. Women's Pro Baseball League, and I'm looking it up like, what is this? What's going on with this? So, and it's baseball. I mean, I guess it's could be some swarm, some swarm, some form of uh softball. I'm not sure. The only thing I can honestly separate the two is how the ball is pitched, so they seem to pitch the ball the regular way, at least that's what I saw. Either way, it'll be interesting to see right now. It's only four teams, and I think they're playing um 30 games. I did a little bit of research. I think they're doing 30 games, so we'll just have to see what happens. So, yeah, the NFL, they're having uh quite an interesting start to the season. There's been quite a few injuries that have happened. I think two of them are uh out, two injuries are season ending injuries. So um, when I get a chance to pull that up, I'll let you know. But right here, I have also the NFL Saints, they ended up suspending uh Brock Rick Steiner, if that's how you say it. That's uh for the wrestling fans such as myself, that's um Scott Steiner's son. Big pop a pump for those who really don't know his name is Scott Steiner. Scott Steiner's son, Rick Steiner, his brother's nephew. Um I didn't see the reports as far as what he got suspended for exactly, but it was for violating their wellness policy, which honestly, that's not that's not too far-fetched. So I mean, if you look at uh his dad, his dad used to be jacked, you know what I'm saying? So um yeah, that's nothing as nothing new at all. Let me see if I could pull up these uh these injuries. The C NFL injuries are as follows. It's quite a lot, quite a lot, which is crazy. Uh looks like these happened um during the season. Well, not during the season, during training camp and other issues, such as people uh taking the time off during the offseason and getting surgery done and stuff like that, trying to see uh the the return timetable of that, right? So uh let's see, the Cardinals have eight injuries out, Atlanta Falcons. They've got some injured people. One notable is Michael Penix Jr. He should be returning towards the end of the month. Yeah, he should be returning soon. Ravens. Anybody notable to me? No, but these three guys are out for the season. So they got three guys that seem to be out for the season. Uh gotta see if that's true. That's Baltimore Ravens, Bills. Six people out, two people out for the season. Again, not notable to me. Don't want to run down too many names, right? Take up your time. Uh, Carolina Panthers is out for the season. Chicago Bears. Chicago Bears, not eight guys out for the season, eight guys out due to injury. My apologies. Um, Chicago Bears. Obi Bryant with a C. He is out. Questionable to return September 28th with a bone bruise, small fracture during practice. Elijah Hicks, he's out. Uh, out for the season. A shin injury. I gotta look at some of these because if these guys are out for the season, like, geez, what is going on? But this is a rough offseason for the NFL in general. I just keep getting home notifications uh while I'm at work, and it's just it's wild. I've never seen so many injuries, me personally. Uh Dallas has uh Cleveland Browns has some people out. Uh Bengals have three, four, five people out. Browns have five people out. Dallas Cowboys. I don't like the Dallas Cowboys. I'll just tell you that right now. Not a Dallas Cowboy fan. I'm a Giants guy. Um, I think I said that on the uh first episode, but here I am again saying it. Second episode, not a Dallas fan. Sorry, Cowgirls. So the Dallas Cowboys, three, six, seven, seven or eight guys. Uh that was just me glancing at it. Denver Broncos, foresight is out, ankle injury, questionable rather. To return August 14th. Uh Loaner, Gor Gargulio, Gargolo, my bad, and Jordan Turner. Jordan Turner is out for the season, and Nick G is out for the season. Again, I'm going to definitely look these up to see if these players are out for the season because it just says out with a red dot. So I'm guessing that's out for the season. Uh Detroit Lions, Conklin. He is out for the season for a knee injury. Jeez. Kittlesman, questionable. Vacky, questionable. First, questionable. Moore, Derek Moore, questionable. Uh he can return within seven to ten days, they say. And that'll be August 13th. They're looking at his return. Troy is banged up. Kendrick Law, Robacu, or Robacu, uh, Dan Jackson, Thomas Harper, Brian Branch, Kirby Joseph, Giovanni Manu, Jimmy Rolder, Eisen. Goodness. The list goes on and on. That's wild. Packers. They got a decent. Oh my gosh, they're destroyed. Look, man, everybody's injured for the season. I'm trying to make this a thing, but I can't. A lot of these. Oh my gosh. Let me see. Uh Patrick Mahomes is supposed to come back on the 15th. Why would happen to him? He has a knee issue. Unlikely to play the Chiefs preseason opener. He was doing a, they showed the video of him doing a practice, and they were making a joke of him passing the ball, and the uh the center was uh in the way. He like stood up as soon as he went to pass the ball. So haha. Xavier Worthy. He should be returning on the 15th. I was gonna say Colin Delaney. What? Uh Monsour Delane. He's out until the 15th. Uh Chiefs not looking too bad, but they definitely want their quarterback to come back as soon as possible. But I was going for the Giants, which okay, here's the Jets. Now looking at them. Doesn't look like the Giants. Oh, here we go. Giants. Collins is out, Holland is out, neighbors is out. This is just uh for now. Now I thought that uh uh Scatterbo was gonna be out because he was at Fanatics Fest or something like that, and uh did a backflip and he landed, but then he fell. So we don't quite know what's gonna happen with that. Um but it'll be nice to see. Again, I'm a Giants fan, so we're gonna see what happens with these guys for the season. Uh, rookie Jackson Dart. Uh, your backup is Jameis Winston, good motivational guy, they say. Uh funny dude. I've seen some of the the interviews with him where he's uh making his jokes, making everybody laugh, making everybody feel comfortable. And I've also seen uh the videos of uh him doing speeches, uh getting the team riled up. So great addition to the team, of course. And you got Jackson Dart, who all he has to do is learn how to uh tuck, you know, learn how to slide, learn how to say, I don't need those extra yards, and stop doing crazy stuff, and we'll be good to go. And then you got Scatterbo. He needs to bring it down just a little bit, just a smidge, because you do want somebody that's got that. You want the guy on the team that is a little uh uh questionable as far as what madness is this guy gonna pull off, you know? Uh and that's who Scatterbo is to me. So great team, Giants. There was a football player who got they uh say he was um I'm trying to figure out how to how to word this, uh, but he was taken out uh by someone else, and they say it's related to a scam that he was trying to pull off, and another player, some investment scam, and a current player, active player, uh put his name out there and said, you know, hey, I'm I'm saying this because I want everybody to be aware, and I don't want people to get you know caught up like I did. I just found out about it over the weekend. I didn't even know this guy, you know, passed away. I didn't know he was doing this this wild stuff. So, you know, be out be careful out there. You trying to do scams, don't do them. But if you gonna do them, do them right. Um yeah, so that's our our football portion. Now let's talk about the NBA. The NBA and Kawhi Leonard. That Kawhi Leonard seems to be a big topic right now, and the WNBA and women, uh WNBA and men or however, um that's a topic as well. So we'll start with we'll start with Kawhi. Excuse me. I had to take a soda. Kawhi Leonard, as you all know, and if you don't, I'll tell you now, uh still under investigation. Or basically taking money or accepting money, getting money, getting paid by this company that really doesn't exist. At least I'm thinking that's how it's painted. And that money, trying to keep it short and simple, that money is what was used to pay Kawhi more money because he couldn't get it from the team due to the salary gap. Sorry for looking up. I don't know why I keep looking up. Camera's right there. That's for my um visual listeners, not my audio listeners. Speaking of listeners, thank you to those who did uh download uh the first episode. I do appreciate it. Make sure you share it, put it out there to the world, let everybody know. I'm only gonna get better with time. So I appreciate this. Um bear with me, rock with me. We all we all in this together. But Kawhi. Um so he's accepting money from a company that I don't think really exists, so that he can get paid more by the owner without them affecting their salary cap. And apparently that's illegal. Uh Pablo Torre is the one that reported on it. Pablo Torre continues to be the one to report on it. I've I heard about this from him last year, and it's now picking up legs, which is weird because why is it picking up legs during this season and or for the upcoming season that's about to happen in a few months, and this happened last season while he was playing. So that's a little odd. And then they allow a trade to go through while he's still under investigation for this. So they were like, okay, he got traded to Toronto, and they said that it might not go through, it might not go through because of the investigation, and they didn't want Toronto to suffer any consequences, right? So if they decide to suspend him, Toronto's gotta bite that bullet. If they decide to kick him out, which I doubt they would, but if they decide to kick him out, Toronto's gotta bite that bullet, right? Recent trade, all that. Um which would suck for the Clippers, because I think Brandon Ingram is a really good player, really good player. Uh my opinion, the the the second version of Kevin DeBrandt. When Kevin Debrant retires, you got Brandon Ingram. Um that's just me. But so it affects the Toronto Raptors with the trades, uh, with the lineup, with a lot of things. So there's no idea no telling what they're gonna do. But right now he is still under investigation. And if you ask me now, again, I don't know what they have going on, what the rules are, but if you really sit back and look at it, in my eyes, I see it as it being an endorsement because that's what players do, right? They they get endorsements from a company, incentives, whatever, for promoting or representing. Now, is Kawhi out there doing interviews for this company? I don't know. Is he uh is he doing uh public speakings for this company? I don't know. I have no idea, but it can be looked at as an endorsement and because everything that they these players do, they get money, they get the endorsements, and it has nothing to do with the salary cap, if I'm looking at that right. So I look at it as if there's a problem, suspend them, keep him moving. The players have done worse. Uh Terry Rogier, I think he's still in trouble for the gambling. One guy uh is no longer even in the league, and he just got there. He's no longer in the league due to gambling. So looks like the NBA is having money issues. Look like the NBA's been a little rough since Adam Silver uh became the commissioner. Rest in peace, David Stern. Though nobody's really a lot of people are not happy about the David Stern situation because of uh him stopping the trade for Chris Paul to go to the Lakers when uh Kobe was there. I wonder if that was the time when Shaq was there too. Probably not. But yeah, um Adam Silver's gotten there and it's been crazy. The all-star game format has changed so many times. I did like this one, the most recent one. But yeah, that's happened. The gambling situations have happened, all types of scandals have happened. So, Adam Silver, uh Ts and P's, you know, uh for you and uh what you got going on. Hopefully everything shapes out to be good and great. Um looking forward definitely to the two-team expansion. There's really a really strong possibility of the Seattle Supersonics returning, and then there's obviously gonna be a Vegas team. Uh rumors, AIs are saying uh Las Vegas Jacks, which I don't know if that's true, but that's what I'm seeing online again. I go by what I see online, I go by what I see with my own eyes, uh, watching the games, things of that nature, and watching reports and stuff like that. I'm not gonna make anything up. And for my uh audio listeners, I have no notes in front of me right now. None. Um for my visual listeners, you see, I got no notes. I pulled up my phone for the football situation, but that was it. I got no notes. I'm not uh here to uh sugarcoat nothing, I'm not here to uh put any sauce on anything. I'm just keeping it real. Uh another basketball note. The WNBA Enus Canter, Freedom, Enus Cantor Freedom, and Royce White. Now, before I get into anything, Royce White, if he if that's who I think it is, because I think there's actually two Royce Whites in the NBA. Uh the one I'm thinking of didn't even like to travel because he was afraid of flying. So I hope he's not the other player that's talking about he's gonna join the uh NBA draft or WNBA draft coming up. I hope not. Enus Cantor, he's doing it. You can clearly see that he's doing it to prove a point. I'm not gonna dig deep into this. I I don't want to. Um, but if it is for the sake of keeping people safe, then hey, let's see what happens. I'm not for the jokes. I don't want to I don't want nobody to do anything for the sake of uh a skit, for the sake of uh media attention. You know, if you're if you mean well, then by all means do what you gotta do and mean well. Um nobody should be jumping on the bandwagon of this. If this is what this man wants to do, let him do it. And in the end, hopefully it comes out to be uh something that is good for everyone. If there is anybody out there in the league, WNBA, that can find a way to make this situation a little bit easier. You see, I'm trying to find my words, right? If there's a player in the WNBA that can find a way to make these situations easier, then by all means step up and say something. Uh that's all I can say, really. I got, I don't got much. Uh only have my assumptions and my opinions. So, yeah, and I some things you just be quiet about. I just started this thing. I'm not, I'm not gonna do anything to start any uh uh shit show. Excuse the language. Trying not to curse as well. That's gonna be a thing. Trying not to curse. So if I say excuse my language, excuse me, my bad. Um, but yeah, we're looking forward to the to the NBA season. What are they gonna do with Kawhi? What is Philly gonna do? Oh, speaking of, yes, let's let's get into this Philly thing. Alright. Jalen Brown. It seems as though he is showing sides of sorry to say, jealousy of Jason Tatum. He points out that that was his best season he had last season, the season that just passed, because there was no Jason Tatum, right? He he had to control it, not control the team, but he had to, you know, take charge. And he did. He did a great job. They didn't win a championship, but he did a great job. Um it's it's been said that, you know, he feels as though his political views and the way he does things is a reason why he's not in the position that he wants to be in, which sounds nuts. Um because you are playing ball, you are playing basketball, um, respectfully. If you want to be known for your your activism and things of that nature, one, it doesn't need to be on a platform, you know. Um, just go ahead and do it. Just you don't need to broadcast it, you don't need to know nothing. I mean, if anything, um if you help someone, they could say, Oh, Jalen Brown helped me. You know, that'll be your uh confirmation, right? Or just have it in your heart. Oh, I helped someone, I did this, I did that. Keep it to yourself. You don't have to tell the world, the world doesn't need to know. Uh but yeah, so Tatum has all the endorsements, Tatum has all the playtime, Tatum has blah blah blah. Is Tatum a better player? In my opinion, no. But why get mad? That's what they chose. You if you're not marketable, you don't speak much, and when you do, it is about your beliefs and how you feel about things. So nobody's saying don't do that, but you gotta understand that that is not what the endorsements are promoting, if that makes sense. Like if I'm Nike and I want you to uh promote my shoe, I don't want you to go out and do that in relation to my shoe. If I'm what they say, Subway's one of the the deals or whatever. If I'm Subway, I want you to talk about the sandwich. I want to do the commercial with the sandwich. I don't, you know, so it's like the companies are looking out for themselves to say, darn, if we do this, how's that gonna look on us? Because everybody doesn't know all your views, he or she, whoever it may be. Didn't mean the rhyme, but I can do that too. Um, so I can see where these companies are coming from and the whole non-endorsements uh situation. But hey, you're in the league, you're playing ball, you're an NBA champion, you are an NBA champion, you are an NBA champion with the men you seem to be disliking. So it looks like both of you guys, Tatum and Brown, are gonna have a point to prove uh by themselves now. But then again, Jalen Brown isn't by himself. He's in a team that he wasn't trying to create, he got traded to Philly. So I don't know what Boston was thinking, and then the that thought process, right? Boston trades, Jalen Brown. They were trying to get LeBron, but it failed. So imagine how they looked at that when LeBron decided to go to Philly. They had to be kicking themselves in the in the in the in the ass. I didn't want to curse again, but I did. They had to be kicking themselves in the ass. You let your second best player, if not your first best player, sorry, but they don't know. Is he one, is he two, is he Batman, is he Robin? That's what they say, right? Um you let one of your best players go. You traded him to go with, as they say, the best player in the league, the GOAT, which to me he's I don't want to do it. He's not the GOAT. That's it. That's all I got. Not getting into that. Um, you let him go play with LeBron and upcoming BJ Edgecomb, Tyrese Maxie, and Joel Embiid. A sick Joel Embiid is a good, a great player, to be honest. So what are we doing here? Right now, it's all about Jalen Brown. What's going on in the WNBA? They've been quiet about the Heat. The Heat haven't done you haven't heard much about them. So it'll be interesting to see what happens with this team and how they mesh well uh together. Everybody gotta everybody has to have at least one year to see how it works out. Timberwolves are looking new. Um, everybody's looking new, but their rosters look weird. Bucks roster looks weird, Lakers roster looks definitely weird. Washington Wizards are looking good. I keep saying it, but they're looking good. Uh Atlanta's looking to prove themselves again this year for sure. Uh Golden State Warriors, they're looking to do something. This might be um Curry's last season with the Warriors, might be. Uh Draymond, he just signed a one-year extension because he didn't. He went uh uh free agent so they could try to get LeBron. They didn't get LeBron, so they re-signed uh Jalen Jalen, they've re-signed uh Draymond Green for a one-year 27 million. So, excuse me. So we'll see what happens with that. But right now, that's it for the show. Thank you for watching. Till next time. I'm out.
