Loves, Hates and Passions
Welcome to Loves, Hates and Passions, the podcast ABOUT educators.
I’m your host, Lyn Stone, and I love reading books and articles on education and I love hearing the leading lights in the field talk about their work, but often, I’m curious to find out their backstory.
What makes them tick? What are their likes and dislikes? Who are their influences both in an outside education? What do they like doing besides writing and presenting?
In this increasingly impersonal world, this podcast takes an intimate view of the humans behind the ideas.

Today's guest is the amazing Elise Lovejoy: educator, illustrator, publisher and mother to two excellent kids that I have had the pleasure of doing parkour with at the Griffith Observatory in LA.
In this episode, Elise talks about her very deliberate walking out of her comfort zone, her linguistic gaffes in Mexico, what drove her to establish her publishing company, Express Readers, and what she likes doing in her spare time (as if THAT'S a thing haha!).
Enjoy the Lovejoy experience.
EPISODE NOTES:
My strong advice is that when we introduce a song, you should pause and find it wherever you keep your songs. I keep mine on vinyl discs, cassette tapes, CDs, Spotify, Apple Music and sometimes just in my head. The songs make the episodes what they are, so take the time to listen if you can. I'll link to them on Spotify just to help you along.
First track:
McCalliog and his Hens - Half Man Half Biscuit
Second track:
Three Little Birds - Bob Marley & The Wailers
