Sean McElwee and Sean Couevas, both stars of A & E's groundbreaking show "Born This Way", share their close and unique friendship. In this episode you will hear why they consider themselves family. They share stories that are both sweet and funny. Sean McElwee owns Seanese, a t-shirt company, stars in his own YouTube show, "The Sean Show", and is a keynote speaker. Sean McElwee has Down syndrome. Sean Couevas is his best friend. He does not have a disability.

Hello, My name is Credit Harrison. Welcome to Born Fabulous Podcast Episode nine of Season two The theme of this season is Changing the world one friendship at a time. You will hear interviews with best friends. One person happens to have a disability, and the other does not. This episode is the second of my Interview with Sean MCA. We and his best friend Sean Quickness. Both Shawn's are famous for being on Annie's groundbreaking show. Born This Way, Sean McElwee was one of the main stars, and Sean Cuevas was featured often as his best friend. Many of Sean Cuevas is Life Milestones include Sean MCA. We enter on film This part of the show Sean McElwee owned Shaw NEES, a T shirt company. He stars in the Sean Show on YouTube and is also a keynote speaker. He is 25 loves his independence and loves life in a quirky and fun way. He is now known for Sean McElwee has Down Syndrome. Sean Cuevas is the proud father of a son named Holden, who was three. He is also an outside sales were up and all around. Great guy Sean quit. This is 36 does not have a disability. Both Shawn's have a deep, fun and interesting friendship. So tell me this with your friendship and your lives. Now, how important is that? What does your friendship mean

to I like a very important just because we don't like I love brother. Yeah, to us. And we'll take care to a terror because, um, be a family. Yeah. Oh, they say I see Sean as a brother. Well, um, every time we see each other, every time I see Shawn doesn't matter. You know what's going on? He's always, like, right away. How was your week? He wants to know everything that was going on in the week. And he's very just so positive and encouraging and everything. You know, if I'm having a tough day, he freaking little spirits, but we definitely I mean, we're basically like family. We spend a lot of holidays together, they're gonna be doing on trips together like Christmas. Thanksgiving? Yeah, stuff like they're like, Christmas Eve. Sometimes we'll go over the Christmas Eve or Thanksgiving. Your vice versa. Also, hotels are muse. I gotta do trip to stuff. Yeah, you have been on some trips.

You like to? You guys like to go see football games, right? Yeah. I hear you like to travel to see a football game. You wanna talk about that? Oh,

yes. I would love that nest. Every team as the Broncos know the Browns. Thank you. You did that on purpose. He knows it's the Browns. Is Dad's favorite Tonto team at the Chargers. Yeah. Oh, so so you don't like it because I know it's possible. Thing is my house everything because, uh, charges has a lot to me because I got a very player until just is nervous about memos. Yeah, and has really go cornerback iss. But if the Browns played the Chargers, the Browns would one know. Yeah, way went to the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona, which was a lot of fun. Yeah, Yeah, I was actually that was right before Holden was born. And, uh, it was like he was due in January. And this was December 31st. Yeah, I, uh kind of honest. Select. But I had all the flight schedules ready to go in case he came early. And I was good flight within an hour. So he didn't come till January 19th and got to enjoy the game. Even Ohio steak? No, the other. Did you? You know, they got beat by circus. You're sure? Yeah. Yeah, Hold this year. Yeah.

Oh, yeah, we talked about your football game. Let's let's talk now about holding because Holden is a very important part of Sean sees life. And Sean. See, why don't you tell the audience how Sean M has been important and holding a slice?

Um, he's just been a great friend, and, um, they've been basically they met each other when Holden was too gave old John got the hold. Hold in. Basically the day we came home from the hospital, but Yeah, And he did greats. And ever since then they've had a really, uh, strong relationship and holding love. Shawn. So that's Uncle Shawn. Yeah. He, uh, hopefully, you know, holding condemn eloped relationships like I've developed with John. And, uh, you know, that's, uh that's the goal

essence. And I I understand Sean and likes to do something for holding when he travels around the country.

Yes. Oh, sometimes are doing out because, uh, I get and I guessed by hand and for horny because I don't Doesn't mean a lot to me. Like I got to him. I'll take care of him and everything. Like, Yeah, that's pretty cool. It does. You get him a lot of John Sena stuff right there. Out of selling here. Yeah, and a mask. You know, he loves that mask. He does. You know, it's pretty funny.

And I think the audience mayor may not know that sean M travels quite a bit. And I think you've, uh you've done at least 30 buddy walks across the country over the years, and you do your public speaking gigs. So you're saying that every time he does this, he is bringing back gifts for you guys.

He's brought tons of stuff back. A lot of like tourist souvenirs and a lot of just toys. Pretty cool. And books? Yeah, books here. A lot of books. He loves that little extra a lot. Yeah. You know, see what? Ah,

now. And what about he was important even before holding was born. One should talk about the shower because if people saw the show, they might have seen the shower. But let's talk about the man shower a little bit.

Ah, Dead just doubled up. Next. I got a vice. I, uh when you have holding him out, I'll have to care. Because I hate That was hard and and everything. My song, definitely I socked around hasn't scored out. Why? In preschool? Yes. Exactly. And sometimes I give him and hold it like some toys, like books, toys, him mishaps. Yeah, that's true.

And you had some, uh, pretty cute games at the shower, right, Sean? See?

Yeah. Oh, yeah. Like, oh, baby, a dog poop is afloat. Not don't baby moved way. Learn how to change diapers. Exactly. With, uh, simulated Pete poop. It was a bigger with snickers. Melted snickers. Yeah, It was pretty graphic connectivity. Yes, but it is really gross. The guests are nobler. Touch it. Yeah, but then I mean, it's hard. Thio that snickers you love Snickers, Chocolate. It was confusing. It does,

No, he didn't. I haven't got him to be able to do that yet. And holding someone's out of diapers, so? Well, uh, he's easy. He's helped peaceful East past me like baby wipes and stuff. So he's he's been a help. But that's good. Yeah.

So that is good. So let's also talk. There's some really important milestones in Sean M's life that Sean See, you've been a part of going all the way back. Let's talk about the moment. Why don't you guys, Shawn, see? Talk about when Shawn m auditioned for born this way?

Oh, yeah. That was a lot of fun. Uh, it does. Yeah, that was That was a fun day. We were actually at refuge, and his mom, Sandra came in and he had a callback. You had the initial audition. I guess it went well. And I think like 20 people were being called back, and so she didn't have a ride for Sean said she came in and asked everybody a refuge. If there was anybody that would give John a ride and she would pay for it, we give 100 bucks or something like that be, uh ahem. Patrick don't sort of friends. Yeah. So I was like, Yes. Oh, we'll do that. And, uh, we'll do it for free. I just wanted to, you know, hang out with Shawn, and, uh, it was three of us that took Sean up there. Me and my buddy patent pad is he's got a lot of tattoos. Yeah, his whole body is covered in tattoos. Even has. Yeah. His neck. Yeah, he's got a lot of tattoos, sweet guy, but a lot of touches and very intimidating looking. It does Another friend, Ricky and Ricky's a pretty big guy. So Sean rolled into the audition with three guys and everybody else was there with their parents and pee at his entourage already. He came in and, um, demanded respect. Basically, uh, yeah. You think you were gonna be cast as soon as you walking? You have the right attitude. Yeah, Zachary. Yeah, and they actually saw how we're interacting with everybody there and asked us to come back and do an interview on camera for the audition. That went well. And they asked us to We want to be a part of young it so just called 02 honest rate, the end of your arms. Ah, guy talk. I made the mass. Oh, yeah? Yeah. You

Yeah, he was dancing. I think he even took up a shirt employing Thio. Be up dust. True. Yeah. So he was pretty loose when he went in for the audition, which I left because I tell him I said when I stopped, Yeah, last figures was fun, too. Was a different sign.

We will talk about Las Vegas that's on my list. But with this audition, basically, that kind of led to you. Being a friend of the show is exactly that's really cool. So the fans would probably be interested in that. And that's a good I also think it's a good ah message for families to here that he rolled in with friends instead of his parents because that's our tendencias families is for the parents to go everywhere and you know that he was a young adult so

uh, well, a time he went to my place and hey, took me. Janet Bay is we're gonna get to that. Right?

okay? You talking about oh, out last night? I guess. Under there I slapped and I seeing us young and a suck there, Right? Uh, yeah, you were singing. Shawn loves to sing on car rides and sings, um, it's most of time. It's with the music in the car. But sometimes they put on his headphones and seeing his own music and sings really loud and knows. I mean, sometimes I don't even know what E Yeah, he was seeing in the whole time. And he was singing so loud with his mouth so wide open that the, uh, asleep mid song, uh, passed out and slept for probably an hour and then woke up And you were hungry. Yeah, the goldfish here that the endless go, which is on the show. Yeah, I did. Cough s, uh I got a bag. No Sergeant and enemy like that to me. And he got the bad, right? Yeah. I don't remember exactly what happened. Right. Wherever you haven't so many goldfish. Yeah, Eye socket like 5 10 Dax. That I do rember when we left for the trip, um, Sean brought his bag with clothes, and then he also brought a bag equally equal in size of snacks. I didn't know. I didn't know they were gonna all be goldfish.

Well, he no, he knows it for guys trip. You guys need food? That's part of a guy's trip, right? Um, it was mostly a guy's trip Mus Ilary was there, but

it was really keeping with us, but a za do strip it of it. But I said there is no ghost ship because well, it's got There wasn't that rule because Hillary went with us. But it definitely ended up being more guys trip. Yeah. Yeah. And hey, maybe he doesn't know that you don't have going on a date to this. Can't really say it's a complete guys. True.
