What does it mean to clock somebody?
SPEAKER_00Punch them. Yo, not to clock her. She on my last nerve.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I think that clock and punch are synonymous in the millennial generation. Okay. In the Gen Z gen generation, they're less violent. We they don't really condone violence nowadays. And it would just be to call somebody out. Oh, okay. Okay. I think I like that.

SPEAKER_03Okay. All right, let's just get into it. Today we are playing another game. Credit to my mother. Again, she comes up with the most amazing ideas. And yeah, let's get into it.
SPEAKER_01So the premise of this um game is because I feel young. And sometimes my kids will say something to me, and I'm just like, back in the day, if we had said that, it wouldn't have meant the same thing. So we're trying to see the difference between the generational slang or some of the things that we used to do at my age that are so unheard of these days and how foreign it may look to the Gen Z or millennials. So um let's lock in.
SPEAKER_03Let's lock in. Let's talk rich. Okay, so I'm a millennial. I do just want to make that clear. I never want to be mistaken as a Gen Z, to be honest. So, but the slang that I'm going to ask my mom about, the slang terminology, the internet terminology that I'm gonna ask my mom about is today's slang. So I think that's more Gen Z, but I'm still gonna go with it because it is pretty good.
SPEAKER_01Funny that you would say that, Jazz, because the analogies that I'm using today, I feel like I didn't used to talk like that. Really? Yeah, it's it's much older than me. But are they familiar to you? Um somewhat, but I never I didn't talk like this. Okay. And I didn't do some of the things that that we're gonna discuss. So I'm just like, you know, some of it, it could be um the way I was raised. It could be um, you know, the culture of our family. I'm not really sure, but you know, I was a PK, a preacher's kid. So I was kind of um in the house. I'm not I'm not a alley cat. Sheltered. Right, right, right, right. I'm not, I'm not outside like that. I wasn't outside like that. Uh so some of the things are a little foreign to me, but I know friends of mine who would allude to doing these things or doing things. Okay, okay, okay. So they were somewhat familiar, but not really. I had to refresh because that just wasn't my personality. It wasn't things I had to do.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm gonna be honest. I had to confirm a couple of these answers myself just because we don't talk like that. Like we don't use slang. All right, let's get started. Who's going first? Um, I don't know. Let's pray in. Yes. This is why two is always better than one. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01Absolutely. Lord, we just come to you with Thanksgiving. We thank you for everything. And I want to start preaching up in here, Lord. So I'm just going to keep it short and just say thank you for all that you've done. Um, the things I don't even know the covering that you've had over me and us and mine. I just want to make sure that you know that we reverence you and that we also know to look through the hills which cometh our help.
SPEAKER_03I receive everything that my mom said, God. And additionally, we cover over our audience. We speak health, wealth, love, and life more abundantly, and more importantly, your presence in their lives as well as our own. We thank you for this episode. We thank you for my mom and I's time to commune together and with you, God. And thank you. And so be it. Okay. You want to rock, paper, scissors, shoot to see who goes first? Okay. SPEAKER_01Mommy! This is crazy that we think so much alike that we would be doing the same ones over and over again. You can't make this up. Okay, ready?
SPEAKER_03This one I'm taking home. Let's go. I knew it. Ah, let's go. All right. I'm going to give you the question first. Okay. What does it mean if I say someone has no aura?
SPEAKER_01They have a flat effect. Like they're they're just they have no vibe. They're boring. Yeah, I'll give you the point.
SPEAKER_03We are keeping score. We kept score last episode, but it got a little bit disorderly. This time we're keeping a very clear score, and I'm we're gonna pick a winner. There it is. And then the loser will figure it out. Okay, I like that.
SPEAKER_01We'll see what happens at the end. Because even when I lose, I win.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01All right. Um, you got a point? What does it mean if I say, or if someone had said, don't bogart that?
SPEAKER_03Don't bogart that. Like, don't poke the bear. Don't like open Pandora's box. No? No. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I did not get that point. Should I tell you what it does mean? Okay. Um, don't keep something for yourself. It's what it's what you guys would call, don't gatekeep. It's what we say don't gatekeep right now.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay, okay. All right. Um, did I get that point? You did. Okay. Oh, wait, my point?
SPEAKER_01No. I wanted to make sure you documented my point.
SPEAKER_03Wait, okay, wait. So wait, let me go back really quick. How did you explain no aura? You said what what was your explanation for that?
SPEAKER_01Like, like they don't have a personality, they're boring.
SPEAKER_03It's more of like a coolness or confidence thing, but I do feel like you're on the right line. So, how would it be they had no confidence? Like, no um like societal appeal. Like they're not cool. Oh, okay. Like they're just like not a cool person. Yeah. Okay. Essentially. They're an inside cat like I used to be. All right. What does the oh okay. What does the math isn't mathing mean?
SPEAKER_01It doesn't make sense. Okay.

SPEAKER_01Oh my goodness. This one is so old. Okay. I know you're not gonna know what this is. Although you might. Um, what does it mean if somebody says uh be kind and rewind.
SPEAKER_03Be kind and rewind.
SPEAKER_01Y'all know I went way back with this one.
SPEAKER_03Rewind. Maybe like take back what you said if it was something offensive.
SPEAKER_01Mm-mm. Okay. So back in the day, we used to use the VHS tapes that we would put in the um Yeah, and you had to physically rewind them. Yes, before we could actually take it back to the blockbuster or whatever. That's what that is.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh, that's so funny. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I'm trying to win, y'all.
SPEAKER_03So was that like Blockbuster slogan or something?
SPEAKER_01No, it was actually any place that you rented videos from.
SPEAKER_03Ah, okay.
SPEAKER_01Rewind it back.
SPEAKER_03That's really good. I like that one. If somebody says she understood the assignment, what does that mean?
SPEAKER_01Ooh. Um, she knows what to do. Like uh Yeah. Somebody just said that to me recently. That you understood the assignment? Yeah. I'm sure you did. Yeah. I was compliment. I I felt good about that.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, how did broke teenagers used to make a collect call?
SPEAKER_03They'd probably walk to their neighbor's house and ask to borrow the phone over there. Mommy, I need some leeway because hold on.
SPEAKER_01Okay.

SPEAKER_01Let me see. So they would um, okay.
SPEAKER_03Hold on, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait a minute. Okay, wait, wait, wait. They would have a friend. It would be a three-way call. They'd have somebody call them and that and somebody else. They'd put somebody, there'd be a middleman who put two people on the line. Oh, so that would be collect. Okay. What's a collect call? Oh, you mean like in from jail? No, no.

SPEAKER_03She's an inside cat too.
SPEAKER_01What's a collect call? No, so this was back in the day. Um, I remember I did it one time because um my best friend had told me about it because she did it all the time. But I was at the movies and the movie ended early, or we were gonna watch two movies, but we only watched one or something, like one of us had to leave or something like that. And I called home to Pop Up and said, Um, collect call because I didn't have any cash or any dimes to put in the uh payphone. Yeah. And I said, um they said, uh, this is D, do you collect a call? And Pop Up was like, um there was a bit of silence. And I said, Daddy, the movie's over. Come get me now. And I hung, and then he said, No, he doesn't accept the call because now he knew what it is that I wanted.
SPEAKER_03So how did the call go through if you didn't have any coins?
SPEAKER_01It didn't have to go through because I called, I guess it was zero or seven one one, or I dialed something like that.
SPEAKER_03They would let you dial the number and be on just long enough to say who it was. Correct. And then they'd have to accept the call and then you have to pay for it. Absolutely. So how do you pay? How do how do they hold you accountable to pay after you've already That's the point?
SPEAKER_01Nobody has to pay because they never uh Pop-Up never accepted the call, but he got the message from me.
SPEAKER_03But if he did accept it, you guys were already on the line.
SPEAKER_01No, the person, the operator says, um, collect call from thee. Do you accept? Okay. In the interim, before he answers, I say, Pop-up, come get me the movie's over.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. I understand the whole part, but then what if he did accept? Then what would happen? He would get charged. Oh, he gets charged, not you. Yeah, no, yeah, no, no, not me. It would be charged to the house. That's what I'm confused. I'm like, how like how is a payphone gonna stop you from making this call if it already was made?
SPEAKER_01No, my mom would have been uh my mom would have been Nana would have been like, what who's making that call? Why, what's going on here? Oh my goodness. Okay. Oops. Interesting. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Okay. What does it mean to soft launch somebody?
SPEAKER_01Uh-oh. I have no idea. I can't.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and you know what, mommy, I've been trying to take it easy on you, and you have not been trying to take it easy on me, so I'm very happy with this question because I knew you wouldn't get this one. Okay, yeah. I don't know. What's a soft launch? Okay, so a soft a soft launch is when people come out with their relationship, but like in a in a very soft launch kind of way. So say I was taking a picture of our Jackson. So say I was taking a picture of our podcast setup, I would take a picture of like our hands and just the table, but not put your face in it. That's a soft launch.
SPEAKER_01Um, so maybe to make it a little easier for you, um, because these are far-fetched even for myself, maybe I'll use a little bit of a context clue. Okay. All right. I'd appreciate that. Um, what does as if mean? What would that mean?
SPEAKER_03Okay, I know as if. It's like how would I explain this though? It'd be okay. Let me try to think of an example. As if. Like as if that would happen, or as if I would do that. Yeah. Correct. Okay, correct. Cool, my first point.

SPEAKER_03What does main character energy mean?
SPEAKER_01That you think you're all that. You're trying to be the one.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna have to not give you a point for this one. Okay. Number one, because I'm hating a little bit, but number two, number two, she's honest. Number two, it's it's not like um they think they're all that, it's they are all that. Oh yeah, like so like you're walking, yeah, like you're walking in your confidence. Yeah, like you are who you think you are. Okay, we're gonna be the goat. You you're all that because you think you're all that. Okay. You know what I mean? It's it's positive. Okay, so what what is it again? Main character energy. I like that. Yeah, that's never an instant. Yeah, because that's something we should all be embodying as feminines.
SPEAKER_01Because if you didn't know, now you know. You are all that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01For sure. All right, and then what does I like that? Um what does kick it mean?
SPEAKER_03Kick it? Like they're gonna kick it, they're gonna Netflix and chill, they're gonna hang out, they're gonna date, they're gonna There it is. They're gonna chill. Okay. If I say that's my Roman Empire, what am I saying?
SPEAKER_01That's my everything, that's my home?
SPEAKER_03No. Oh. Um, a Roman Empire is something that you find yourself thinking about more often than necessary kind of thing. Like maybe an obsession or just something that you think too often. Okay. So, like a goal? No, maybe like um an irrelevant fact or something like that. Uh hold on. How can I, what kind of example can I give you? Um Does she know?
SPEAKER_01Does she know?
SPEAKER_03Like, like if I know a random fact about something, or if I think often about something that happened five years ago that's not really that important, but yet it replays in my mind often. Just an often thought. So, how would you use it in a sentence? I personally wouldn't. Okay, okay. I understand. I get it. No, no, I get it. But on social media, they'll refer to okay, for example, somebody might go to a TikTok that has five million views and be like, this TikTok is my Roman Empire. They might come back to it like a year later. I gotcha, and say something like that. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, we don't talk like that. But let me see.
SPEAKER_03I'm actually gonna chug this tea. This is, did we do bliss? We did do bliss. This is a blend of herbs that um create bliss in the body. You know how teas are medicinal and purposeful and intentional. The blend of the this tea gives us bliss. So I'm gonna chug it a little bit so I can receive all the bliss. All the bliss.
SPEAKER_01Um, oh, I have a good one. I'm gonna pronounce it the way I I actually did used to say this. I learned this from my cousin Terry. Um, what does the word thorough mean? In slang.
SPEAKER_03That's thorough. Like, um, are we referring to a person? Can you give me that much? Or okay, I'll just go for it. Thorough and slang. I feel like I may know this one. Like, could you be like, like she's thorough?
SPEAKER_01Yep, that's it.
SPEAKER_03Okay, um, like she's on point. Yeah, from head to toe, she's on point. Okay, I like that. I might have to bring that one back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I used to love that one.
SPEAKER_03So, like they would describe women and stuff like that. Correct. I really like that. Correct. That's a beautiful concept.
SPEAKER_01I would use it like describing um like um an instructor or something. I was like, yo, she's thorough. You you gotta, you gotta go take her class because you're gonna get all the information. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, okay. I feel you. If somebody says, I fear she ate, are they worried about what she had for dinner?
SPEAKER_01No. No, she ate that. Like, like she killed it. She nailed it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she killed it. We actually, she's thorough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she's thorough. And not even thoroughly. So we said thorough. I mean, that's how you would say the word like thorough, but we were, but we were pronounced it like thorough. Like this, this thorough because it was the slang. But yeah, thorough is the actual pronounce. And it's funny that we did it back to back. Yeah, I get it.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I'm gonna have to learn how to say thorough because I don't want to walk around talking about she's thorough.
SPEAKER_01It's too much. What about um if someone says um she had a whole bird, she had a bird.
SPEAKER_03A bird?
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03Just from context clues, I'm gonna assume that's like saying, oh, she had a fit, she had an attitude kind of thing, through a fit temper tantrum, but I've never heard that.
SPEAKER_01Why are we saying she had a bird? Uh that used to be my favorite slang when I would talk to my friends about Nana because I'd be like, you know darn well she's not gonna let me go. She's gonna have a bird. If I ask her if I could go there, she is going to have a bird. Stop playing. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, I can see Nana having a bird for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_03Let me make sure I've been given the points. I gave you the point before she ate. Um okay, I think we're good. What is a situation ship?
SPEAKER_01Oh, so that is when like somebody would be married already and then has somebody on a side, or there's a reason why they can't be outwardly together, so they're on a down?
SPEAKER_03No, it's not so scandalous. It's just a casual way of dating without establishing a title. Like, why? Why would they do that? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01If there's no messiness, why why is it a secret?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. That's just how this generation is. And see, I'm not condoning it. I'm not into like no, no, I get we're ranging on the finger kind of person. I'm not into like the casual dating, but yeah, you're right. You're right. Like, what is people's points of being that casual if there's no reason to not be together? Right. It's just like hooking up, dating without calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend. Wow. Yeah. Okay. Uh let me see.
SPEAKER_01What does mix that mean?
SPEAKER_03Mix that?

SPEAKER_01Uh-uh.

SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01When we said, yo, they dogged him, it was like they they beat them. They won. Like, like. Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that makes sense. I know that one. Yeah, okay. I could see that.
SPEAKER_01Um what decide how you're gonna give that point?
SPEAKER_03I'm not gonna get it.
SPEAKER_01No, no, decide how you're gonna give it. Does mommy get it? Oh no, I only get it if I get the question right, not if you get it right. Yes, I haven't been given for wrongs. Yes.
SPEAKER_03What does crash out mean?
SPEAKER_01Ooh. Go off. Blackout.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Let me see. We did that one already. We did this one already. What does well book it mean?
SPEAKER_03Okay, I'm gonna guess that this is when you're driving. If you book it, you like book the accelerator. You go fast. Let's go. That's it?
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Is it specific to driving or is it used in other ways as well?
SPEAKER_01It's used in other ways too. Like um, yo, you ready? Let's book it. Let's get out of here. I never use that, but I've heard it. Mainly guys would say, um, yo, let's let's roll, let's, let's book it. Are you sure I get that point then? Yeah, because it also happened driving. Okay. It was related to driving as well. Um, because I'm not trying to give you any points. I'm trying to prove that I'm still young.
SPEAKER_03Okay. What does it mean when someone says this has healed something in me?
SPEAKER_01Hmm. If I use a context clue, um it helped you in some type of way. Um, made you feel better. You could relate to it.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah. Like, yeah. Um, as far as you can relate to it, it's like it made you feel um uh validated or comforted or like your makes made you reminisce, like when you see something online, yeah. Okay, something you can relate to. We are 6v6. Okay, all right.
SPEAKER_01Um how many questions do you have? I have 12. Okay. So how about um oh that's so corny. Um, I have I did that one. What is this? Um, what does um what's your damage mean? How much was the bill? Oh, see that? That's how I know it. So we we we're looking at it the same way, but they're trying to say that back in my day, it was like, what's your problem? Ah I I again I I didn't use it like that. Okay, no worries.
SPEAKER_03What is a pick me?
SPEAKER_01Uh-oh. Uh-oh. A pick me. I you know what? I can't even begin to guess.
SPEAKER_03It's like it it usually refers to females, younger females in general, who are seeking attention and validation, stuff like that. Like a stalker. No, no, not a stalker, like um desperate.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Um, okay, this is gonna be an obvious one, but what does gag me with a spoon mean?
SPEAKER_03Obvious? I've never heard this. Gag me with a spoon. What? Really? Which is like shut up. I'm so confused. Wow. Gag me with the spoon. I can't even imagine that coming out in the sun's.
SPEAKER_01It means you're disgusting. Like, well, you know how you would like, oh, that is so disgusting. Like, like a spoon would gag you. Okay. So, like somebody said, um, yeah, she was there and she had these sandals on. The sandals were, oh my god, the sandals eight, but her toenails, her feet were crusty, and then somebody would be like, oh, gag me with a spoon.
SPEAKER_03Crazy. Okay, okay. Okay. Have you are you familiar with that term? Have you heard that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, I've heard people say it, but I never used it because it's crazy.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Um, okay, so that those were all 12 of my questions. So now I'll have you finish the phrase. Oh, okay. Very demure, very I don't know. You know what demure is, right? No. Really? Yeah. When you're very that's very demure. What? You never saw that TikTok?
SPEAKER_01No. I would feel like dem demure means elie or like posh.
SPEAKER_03Posh, Ely.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Because that's the first thing that came to my mind. No, but even at work, I would have assumed that they spoke about that. No. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Um, it's be it'd be very demure, very mindful, or very demure, very cutesy. Oh. Yeah, just saying like classy, posh. Oh, okay. Yeah. Okay. I'm so surprised you don't you're not familiar with demure. I definitely would have thought. So, what would be the whole statement?
SPEAKER_01Very demure.
SPEAKER_03Very demure, very mindful, basically. It's a TikToker who went big from making videos like using the the term demure, and she coined it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, okay. I have to look her up. Finished the phrase, ate and left full. She ate and left, I don't know. No crumbs.
SPEAKER_01That only made sense.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So once again, our in our last episode of our podcast, when we played Who's More Likely To, we by the end of it, we totaled it a tie, just kind of out of default. It was just kind of hard to keep track. But this one, it was genuinely a tie. We both have six, yeah.
SPEAKER_01All right, all right. That that sounds good. It's so funny because um we do think and speak so much alike. So I think that there were things that I just assumed that you would know just because I knew it. Okay. I I don't know why I would really think it was so relevant, but that's no, actually, that's how I feel about the demure.
SPEAKER_03I'm very surprised you're not familiar with demure. Especially because I'm sure somebody at work has referred to you in that way. There's no way nobody has ever said demure to you.
