Welcome to the Aligned Current podcast. I'm Bill Heinrich, author, coach, and creator of the Aligned Life Series and the Aligned Current podcast. Today's show is called Stop Making Decisions. Everything you do in life, everything you create comes from your vocabulary and the energy behind every thought, word, and action. When the energy affects everything in your life, you're going to learn in today's podcast, it's about recognizing what's blocking the energy, what's disturbing the energy, and how to make a different choice, and experiencing what happens when you stop forcing life and start living in your aligned current. Each episode explores teachings from the Aligned Life Series, shows you how to create more awareness in your everyday life because knowing doesn't change your life. Awareness, choice, and integration is what changes your life. Let's get plugged into your power. Here's today's episode, Stop Making Decisions. You know, it's funny, isn't it? How we use words all the time- Mm-hmm. Just sort of on autopilot, and we rarely stop to think about the actual power they carry. Sometimes maybe the language we use every day could be, uh, unconsciously holding us back, blocking us from expanding our energy. Today, we're doing a deep dive into this fascinating idea that one very common word, decisions, might be doing just that. That's absolutely right. And this deep dive, it's really gonna unpack the, um, the profound energetic difference between making decisions and making choices. Hmm. We're drawing a lot from choices, not decisions, navigating life with your inner compass. Yeah. It really lays out how this shift, it seems subtle, right? Just changing a word, but it can genuinely revolutionize how you move through life, guiding you toward more, you know, harmony, balance, peace. Think of it like words have a charge, a resonance. That's fascinating. So it's not just semantics then. If it's really about feeling a different energetic vibration- Mm. Then our mission today, it's gotta be helping you, the listener, not just know this intellectually, but to actually feel it. Right. To really get how embracing choice can bring more empowerment, maybe more agility, and connect you deeper to that inner compass, your true north. Okay, let's unpack this. So we usually assume words are neutral, just, you know, tools for communication. But what if there's this unseen energy baked into them, a vibration that can actually block us from our true potential? It's true, and our source really points to decisions as being particularly, um, problematic here. It connects to ideas like those in Clarity Has No Story, which basically says when you have real clarity, you don't need some big story or justification for why you're doing something. That urge to explain your decision, to build a case for it, that's often a sign you're operating from a limited place tied to external stuff, expectations. And what's disappointment really? It's when those expectations crash into reality. Operating from expectation just creates, well, friction, rigidity, like forcing something. Okay, so if decisions create friction- What's the antidote? The source has a pretty bold suggestion, doesn't it? Never make another decision. Exactly, and the why behind it is key. The energy baked into the word decision itself, it's heavy. It tends to bring up stress, anxiety. Just think about it for a second. When you say, "I have to make a big decision," don't you often feel that, that tightening in your chest maybe, your brow furrows? There's this real sense of pressure, weight- Mm-hmm like you're bracing yourself. Yeah, I can actually feel that, just saying it out loud. It's definitely a heaviness. That's the energetic reality, and it goes back to the roots, Latin de meaning off, from, down, away, and caedere, which means to cut, to cut off or even to kill. So decision literally means to cut off or cut away from. It implies this forceful severing, cutting off all other options to land on one thing. Okay. Energetically, it feels like a dead end, a point of no return, final, irreversible, and it's often based on limited info or external pressures. And then there's that whole trap of external validation, right? What will people think? How will this look? Will they judge me? That pulls us right off our true north, away from our inner knowing into anxiety. Now, people mean well. They gather data. They analyze. But the underlying energy of decision still creates that resistance, that contraction, that burden. Right. So i-if decisions have all that baggage, what's the shift, the simple transformative change the source suggests? How do we get away from feeling cut off? Yeah, the solution is actually quite elegant. It's switching from making a decision to making a choice. Mm-hmm. And if you look at the roots of choice- It traces back to Proto-Germanic kosianą, which means to taste, to try, to examine. It came through Old English sceran, Old French choix. It's a totally different energetic blueprint. See, it implies trying out, sampling, exploring, a trial, a step, not that final irreversible cut. And the point isn't about making the perfect, quote-unquote, "right choice." It's about shifting your whole internal landscape from anxiety and stress to empowerment and flow. When you say, "I'm gonna make a choice," how does that feel? There's more agency, right? Mm-hmm. Possibility, openness. You're working with your power, and that reframe, it's liberating. You take full responsibility, but, you know, deep down you're not locked in forever. You can always change your choice. If you get new info, more clarity, a gut feeling, you can adjust. That's agility. That's flow. That sounds incredibly freeing. Yeah. Yeah, I can really feel the difference just hearing you describe it. But okay, for someone who's been taught their whole life to be decisive, make those firm decisions, how does the Source help us feel this, like really feel it, not just get it intellectually? Right. It's not just theory. The Source gives us a simple but really potent exercise for this. Let's actually try it right now. If you're listening, just sit back for a moment, relax, take a nice deep centering breath. Just settle in. Okay, now say this out loud, and really pay attention to your body, your breath, your emotions as you say it. First, I have to make a decision. Uh, okay. Now the second one, I'm gonna make a choice. Oh, okay. Yeah, do that myself. Yeah. There's a definite shift. I admit when I first read about this, I was a bit skeptical. Like, is it just a mind trick? But feeling it physically, that's surprising. I hear that. It really is palpable, isn't it? And you're not alone. Most people we work with report that immediate, like undeniable difference. The first statement, decision, it often brings that weight, pressure, maybe even a little dread. But the second one, choice, tends to evoke freedom, possibility, that quiet personal power. See, it's not just words. It's a direct hit of the energetic vibration in them, how they land in your system. And when you align your energy, when your actions truly resonate with who you are, things just tend to flow better. Less resistance, more grace. Your true north, it guides you to the clearest next step. Maybe not the perfect logical answer, but the one with the most ease. So this isn't only for the huge life-changing moments then. The Source talks about a choice spectrum. It emphasizes that this shift is not just for the big stuff. It's a daily practice, like flexing a muscle. Exactly. Yeah, let's break down that spectrum 'cause it really is like a training ground for your intuition. So first you've got micro choices. These are the seemingly tiny low stakes things all day long, perfect for practicing that pause and consult technique, like what to eat for breakfast. Instead of just deciding it's oatmeal time, pause, ask inside, "What does my body actually want? What feels good right now?" Or getting dressed, instead of grabbing the usual, pause. What feels comfortable, authentic, right for today's energy? Even your commute. Instead of just hitting the fastest route on the app, ask which way feels more harmonious, even if it takes an extra minute. The technique is simple: pause, breathe, turn inward. Ask your true north, "What's the most aligned choice here?" Then notice that subtle feeling, a pull, lightness, rightness, and act on it. These little choices, they build that foundational trust. They strengthen your inner compass. Okay, so you practice there, build confidence, then move up to larger choices. Yeah. What kinds of things fall there? Right. These have slightly higher stakes. You start seeing the practical impact of choosing from alignment more clearly. Think about, um, how to respond to a difficult email or a tricky conversation. Instead of firing back or deciding on a rigid response, pause. Ask, "What choice of words, tone, timing serves my highest good and keeps things harmonious?" Hmm. Or maybe whether to go to that social event. Does going align with my energy, or would staying home be more nourishing tonight? Right. How to spend your weekend. What choices will actually replenish me, bring joy, move me towards what I want? With these larger choices, you're building momentum. You see how choosing alignment leads to more ease, less inner conflict, often better outcomes too. That rightness becomes an internal feeling, not just external logic. And then finally, the macro choices, the really big life stuff. This is where that built-up trust becomes crucial, I imagine. Absolutely. These are the major turning points built on that solid trust you've developed through consistent practice. Things like changing careers, starting a business. Instead of one huge, scary decision, it becomes a series of profound choices. What choice for the next step aligns with my purpose, my passion, even if it looks different? Or maybe ending or evolving a relationship. What choice honors my truth, my highest good, making a large investment? What choice moves me towards this vision with grace and ease? With these macro choices, you're tapping into deeper wisdom, trusting that inner pull towards your highest good. It's less about cutting things off and more about embracing the path that feels most expansive and harmonious. This all sounds incredibly powerful, but, you know, for someone new to this, how do you really know it's your true north and not just like wishful thinking- Mm-hmm. Or trying to avoid something hard? Did the Source's client ever hit that point where she really had to trust that whisper over logic? Because trusting an energetic shift, it can feel like a leap, right? The Source says trust is a muscle, not just a blind jump. That's a fantastic question, and that's exactly where the muscle idea comes in. It absolutely strengthens with use, with positive feedback. The more you act on those inner nudges, those feelings of lightness, those moments of clarity, the stronger that connection gets. And crucially, the more you see good results, more ease, synchronicity, smoother sailing, less stress, the more your trust solidifies. It becomes unshakable. I remember The Source shares this great client example. She was grappling with a marketing strategy decision. Seemed kinda small, but still her team had options. Logically, one was the safest bet, the predictable one, but every time she thought about it, she felt this subtle knot. In her stomach, a low-grade resistance. Not panic, just unease. Okay, so how did she figure out if that was just fear of the logical path or her true north saying Anna? She paused. She did that pause and consult. She let herself consider another option, one that seemed on paper maybe riskier. But when she visualized that one, she felt this surprising lightness in her chest. It was based more on a hunch about her audience, not just the metrics. She called it a whisper, a quiet nudge. So even though it went against the grain a bit and maybe routine was a little skeptical, she chose the path that felt energetically lighter, and the outcome unexpectedly fantastic. The riskier strategy really hit home with her audience. Much higher engagement, more conversions than the safe bet probably would have yielded. Her business got a boost, and she felt that deep satisfaction, that internal alignment, and that experience, it cemented her trust. It made bigger choices later feel less daunting, like streamlining her services to really focus on her passion. That choice helped her move towards her bigger goals, adding ten new clients, reaching a thousand people in her group. See, your business goals, your life intentions, they're expressions of your inner compass. Not one giant decision, but a cascade of aligned choices building momentum. What a great example of how this plays out in the real world. So it sounds like using the compass, well, it doesn't mean no more challenges, right? Yeah. But it shifts the nature of the struggle from fighting external pressure to empowered choice. Precisely. Yeah, it's a shift from feeling like you're constantly battling things, fighting internal conflict, to more of a gentle exploration, an empowered way of moving forward. It's about embodying words that actually support you. Expand your intentions. Think about words like flow, freedom, empowered, create. They aren't just descriptions. They're like energetic anchors for the life you can build through choice, not rigid decision. Or harmony, balance, peace, easy, simple, youth. Those are the feelings that come when you're aligned. When you make a choice, you feel it. You embody the power to make and craft your life. You take action as a catalyst for movement, transforming things, unleashing your authenticity. The language itself changes. So by consistently making choices, you're not just picking differently, you're actually changing your energetic landscape, opening up to more possibilities, aligning with that, that flow of the universe. Mm. This really is the art of living consciously, powerfully, with real confidence in your true north. So the question we leave you with is, are you ready? Ready to embrace the power of choice and unleash your potential? Yeah, maybe just notice the words you use this week. Try that little energetic experiment yourself. Start small, those micro choices. See what shifts. Begin building that trust muscle. We think you might be amazed at the difference it makes You've been listening to the Aligned Current Podcast.
