Day 6- John 5:1-15

And so good morning once again. And like I said, I have been tasked to talk about the government and our 21 days of bold prayer call. And so we're going to be looking at John 5, verses 1 through 15, and a couple of other verses. This was so good, y'all. This was so good. Right. And I had to put a title to this. I would tell title it, Don't Miss the Miracle, Faith Over Tradition of Men. And the theme it is, the theme of my message is it's time to take territory. Amen. And so we are looking at a familiar scripture about the man at the pool of Bethesda on the Sabbath day. He got healed. And then you have a bunch of religious people are upset behind this. Prior to this, we see Jesus over in chapter four. He had just healed a government official's son, right? So it's miracles all in the midst of this, right? You would think people would be rejoicing and be happy and wanting to get their miracle, right? And so we're gonna this is gonna lead us to um where I want to pick up at. And then eight through 15. Right? Like I said, a man he had been sick for 38 years and he just got healed. And so Jesus told him, stand up, pick up your mat and walk. And instantly the man was healed. He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking. But this hat this miracle happened on the Sabbath day, right? So the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man, who was cured? You can't work on the Sabbath day. The law doesn't allow you to carry that sleeping mat. Um, they were referring to Jeremiah 17, 21. They said, Be careful not to carry a load or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem. And plus, they added their own man-made traditions on two things too as well. And so um continuing on, it said, But he replied, the man who healed me told me to pick up my mat, a Mac, my Mac and walk, right? He's so humble, right? I'm like, Oh Lord, he just in the midst of just say, I'm just happy, I'm healed. Amen. And then he and then verse 12 says, Who said such a thing as they they demanded? The man didn't know Jesus had this. Wait a minute, the man didn't know, for Jesus had disappeared into the crowd, but afterwards, Jesus found him in the temple and told him, Now you are well, so stop sinning, and something even worse may happen to you. This verse here stood so vile out to me, right? But afterwards, Jesus found him in the temple and told him, Now you are well, so stop sinning, and something even worse may happen to you. And then verse 15 said, Then the man went and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had healed them. So back in verse 13, 14, right? Afterwards, Jesus, wait a minute, no, no, no, right. Jesus He he withdrew from the crowd, basically, right? He left and he healed the man and he left. And typically, right, that's what kind of stood out to me. Jesus was known for withdrawing from the crowd, or whether they was trying to stone him or whatever it was, he will go and he will be over to the next thing doing, right? But this is not the case. He takes a make a U-turn back and come back to the man and give him instructions on right, how to keep his healing. That's one part. And and I believe he said, and and later on in the chapter, this, if you read the whole chapter, he says, I only do what I see my father tells me to do, and others say I only do what the father tells me to do. But I believe here the father also told him to go back and deal with these religious leaders, right? Because there's a whole if you read the whole content of this uh chapter, he's he's he's talking about them, he's telling them about themselves, right? And then from that point, they tried to kill Jesus, right? In the midst of a bona fide miracle, right? They want to kill Jesus, right? Mm-hmm. They should have been celebrating and and and and and happy about that, but they were threatened by Jesus' authority, right? They wanted to keep the people under their under control with the with the uh uh uh the laws and and and and keep them in order, right? And so I just pulled up a little snippet of pieces about these religious leaders, right? The Pharisees and the Sadducees, they emerged back in the um second BC century when after the second temple was built, right? The Pharisees emphasized on strict laws of Moses and added their own traditions with it. That's why when you hear them say Moses is going to be the one that accused you in the later on this chapter, and then the Sadducees, they were priestly, they were wealthy leaders, they believed in there's not gonna be no real uh uh uh resurrection and things like that. But it's at the time they were both religious uh leaders, um keepers of the law and keeping things in order, right? And like I said, they added their own little things to it, right? But Jesus was trying to challenge them, right? And I believe he was focusing and trying to get their hearts right, right? Because we know he told God to forgive them, right? At the end, everything. But they had the word, right? They had the word, they was the religious leaders, they were keepers of the law, right? They had the word, but the law, the word didn't have them, you know. He challenged them to focus on instead of focus on so many outward rules, right, to just get your heart right. Don't neglect the heart of God's command, justice, mercy, and faithfulness, right? Don't just look and use these scriptures as a means to control, but use these scriptures to allow them to get into your heart, because I believe if they, even though they didn't have the Holy Spirit, right, even though, yes, the law was still into effect, right? The veil has it torn. But I believe if they would have, right, um allow the word to get into them, if they would have studied the word and say, okay, I want to know the word for myself, Lord, show me you and this word, they would have seen Jesus and they would have recognized Jesus, right? They wouldn't have used it as a weapon, right? And so from a and and they wouldn't have, you know, I believe pride and greed and blind them all, right? And I believe, and this, I will say this consistently. I believe every leader does sometimes, not all, but a lot of leaders don't get into it. They get into it with the right heart motive, but somehow it just shifts, right? And so I did a little research on the government because I'm gonna bring this all together for prayer and how as a body of believers, how as us as men and women of God to pray for these leaders in authority, right? So I did a little research on um America, uh America and and other other governments, it's just not America, but we're praying for America. And I know my my historian Dr. Ivon on here, right? You challenged me, right? I should have called you. But uh anyway, um, so of course they were under Great Britain, and and so at the time they were hearts was right, right? They were wanted to get from under the kings and queens, they wanted to have their own government, they were tired of Great Britain, and and so they felt like one commentator said they were tired of the spoiled brats that was taking over in the kings when after this next king leave, putting their own rules in there, right? And so um they wrote the Declaration of Independence, and it you know contained the beliefs of God and ideas that human rights come from a higher authority, and they principles was on the word of God, and this was in like 1776, right? Amen. And so to me, and we had the Bibles in the school, we had prayer in the school, and so how far, right? All this stuff have come from right the heart of God doing right in the beginning, right? And so that's where we step in at, right? Because we are so powerful, right? We know God, Jesus had delegated, Jesus had authority, right? He spoke the things, and we have that same authority, right? We have that same power, right? What the Bible says we have in Romans 8 tell us we have the same spirit that that Jesus had to raise Christ from the dead. So we have that same spirit, right? We got the same thing that the Bible tells us to look, right? Um, at the scriptures, right? They are for our edification. They're to teach us something. It's proper these things. And we look at Daniel, right? We look at people like Joseph. They were both in the midst of a miracle. I don't know who said this the other day, but they both were kidnapped, right? They both were sent off into a foreign place, but they both had great resorts. We had the Daniel, right? They had, you know, I was looking at faith in the morning, right? Uh, I was thinking, think about Pastor Carrie was talking about Daniel. And and of course, from our own knowledge, you know, he had laws changed in the midst of a miracle, right? In the midst of a the leaf that's on the lion's den, right? He came out right on top. That was a miracle, right? And then they said, uh-uh, we want to serve the God that the um the that that Daniel served, right? The God of Daniel's, right? Because he refused not to bow down to the things, right? Even with Joseph, right? We think about Joseph. Joseph had, he was over everything. Only the Bible said, only in is a throne that he didn't have control over. And so if they have those types of power, how powerful are we? Are right? We are born for such a time as this, and that's not just words, right? Because as I was writing this, I I believe the Holy Spirit just spoke to this to my heart. He was saying, we are in the midst of a miracle, right? Our prayers have power, they matter. Don't get distracted by what is going on, but keep praying and walking by faith, right? Our prayers matter. We are so powerful. We have aligned our hearts with God. We have to honor those in authority, right? We pray for those leaders. We ask God to give them wisdom, we ask God to make keep them righteous, send labor to cross their path, is people in the position, right? Uh uh um to get in those those positions because we know that we're not fighting against people, but it's spiritual, whole spiritual uh um uh things that's going around in the spirit realm, right? And so I remember when Billy Bram came and she was talking about um we're stopping the about she was talking about the airplanes. We had authority of stopping the airplanes, and she talked about Kenneth Hagen and how you know Lord was showing him all these visions and how he had power to um about the Watergate scandal, right? He was like, I'm holding you accountable. That shouldn't happen, you know. I don't know word for word, but he was just saying that you were supposed to intercede for that. But the Lord is telling us that we are in the midst of a miracle, right? It's time for us to take territory. We still in the land, the world of the enemy, right? But we still have authority. We can make things move, we can shift things, right? I don't know about y'all, but I know I got a power authority, right? Amen. And I know y'all do too, right? Power is prayer is so powerful. It is so powerful. So we should be praying for our government, right? It's easy to talk about them, but it's more powerful to pray for them. Amen. So that is my time. I just urge and am I and and ask you guys to continue to pray for them and don't miss our miracle because we about to take territory as believers uh uh in the body of Christ. Amen. I will yield.
